Hello, I recently had a failure of hard disk and had to install a new one. Unfortunately, getting a recovery DVD from HP took time so i started using a trail version of Windows 8. Finally my Recovery DVD arrived from HP and now i am trying to avoid installing the orginal OS from scratch. Anyway to extract just the windows serial number from the DVD? or may be install OS on top of the existing installation (i know this sounds crazy). Please help. Serial number of cs5 will not work in cs5.5 , they are version dependent.
YOu can download the cs5 from "prodesigntools.com" and then install the software.
Write a DVD or take a backup of the files downloaded for the later use.

Cinema display serial number from plist

Hi, I need help getting my cinema display serial number from an old Plist file. My office was broken into recently and someone made off with the monitor. It's a long shot but I thought I could find the serial number for the campus police. I was able to find an old com.apple.windowserver.plist file that had some information for the display. I tried the command <defaults read ./com.apple.windowserver.plist> and came up with the following. Problem is they don't look like serial numbers for a cinema display. Any suggestions?

Go to /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist. Open this with TextWrangler or a similar utility. Look for a DisplaySerialNumber key with an integer value that isn't 0. With any luck, this should be the s/n of your display.
If you haven't used this display for a while, the records of it may be gone.
Also, it appears that this isn't guaranteed. Double-check if possible.

There's actually an even simpler solution that doesn't include buying a new version of Logic. He can use his original version easily. Of course, that depends if the OP knows how to effectively use his computer though...

I had previously activated some NI products on a PC using my serial number. Now, I'm transferring ownership of the PC to someone else, so I've deactivated the products. However, the serial number is still recorded somewhere in the PC: In the NI License Manager, when I select Activate -> Use a Web browser... it auto-fills the fields with my serial number.
How do I wipe this serial number from the PC?

@uday: Yes, there are no more traces of the license files. I have NI License Manager 3.7. (But even though the license files are gone, my serial number remains)

I activated the Development versions of LabVIEW and TestStand for debugging purposes, just like this guy 5 years ago. If you have Lightroom 3 still installed, you can get it from there.
If you don't and you have your box/disk, it should be on there.
IF you don't have either of those,and you registered your software, you can log into your Adobe account and retrieve it there.

You need to go back to the person you bought it from. Sounds like they may have sold you phone that is not as described.

There are no upgrade paths from CS2.
If you purchased used software you're pretty much on your own. Much of what is sold on places like eBay or Craigs List doesn't have valid licenses. Caveat emptor.

I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard Student & Teacher edition through Amazon online. I followed the instructions inside the package to verify my eligibilty as an educator. I received a message on the screen after submitting my materials that I was verified & I would be receiving a serial number. This was on June 1. I contacted Adobe Chat and a rep. told me to wait 2 -3 business days, but still no email with serial number had arrived. I ordered through Amazon and not through Adobe so there is not a record of my order on the Adobe website. I do have a record of the order with Amazon so I requested a refund through Amazon. The product is unusable without the serial number. It has been 8 days since my eligibility was verified with identit-e. I have spoken with three Adobe rep.s and two unanswered email to identit -e trying to get the serial number since I was verified as eligible to receive the student/educator version of Creative Suites. I am very disaapointed with the lack of help I have received from Adobe with this issue.
Being referred to identit-e or to a FAQ page is not what I needed to solve the problem- I needed the serial number I have lost complete confidence in Adobe's customer service and that the serial number will ever be provided.

I don't believe you can get your serial number from Apple since they have know way of knowing that you are indeed you, but you can call Apple tech support at 1-800-275-2273 (if you have a cellphone or can make an 800 call from school) and ask.
Otherwise, if you have access to a computer to which you synced the iPod, or someone you can call does, you can find the serial number in iTunes on that computer. See:

The easiest way to find your serial number is this Open Itunes...click help... run diagnostics.....(tick or untick as necessary) so that you just have ticked the last two, device connectivity and device sync. run these tests. it will say no ipod/ipad found but will give results of test....scroll down to bottom of results... here you will find the serial number of your last attached devices.

It seems it was never registered to your Apple ID.
Do you have an iTunes backup of the iPad?
Open iTunes.
