Extracted audio not locking onto clips!! -URGENT!

I have a film... about 23 minutes in length.
Throughout the film there are many cuts back and forth between two interviews.
I edited the whole thing (no transitions/titles/black space inbetween yet)... and extracted the audio. I want to voiceover the audio while there are images/video shown.
Now I find that...(now the audio is extracted), I cannot move around the clips.. without the audio becoming un-synched with the visual interviews...
Any suggestions?
P.S. I am quite desparate because I have a public showing of the film in just a couple days!!!
Thanks.

Move the audio clip to the place on the timeline where you want it to start. Go to Advanced menu and click 'Lock Audio to Timeline'.

  • Extracted Audio longer than movie clip, please help...

I was reading some of your FAQ's about extracted audio being
recomposed with a mono instead of stereo for exported audio from a microphone or other mono device, and then importing it back into iMovie after mixing it in Quicktime, to make it stereo (albeit with only mono feed).
    My question is this:
I extract the audio from the clip that I am running, and it is fine and good while within iMovie, however, once I drag and drop it to my desktop, and open it with quicktime and either play it or export it as mono to get it to play through both speakers, it uses the original
length of audio not the edited version that i pull from imovie. It is very frustrating, and I am not sure why it keeps doing this.
While it is in iMovie, the audio and video match, and are synched. But, when I export it, for some reason, it exports the original audio from the unedited clip (which has already been deleted!), and I don't know what to do to get it to export just the audio clip as it stands now within iMovie.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Hi Aesthesia - that is a fact of life of non-destructive editing. When audio is extracted from a shortened, cropped clip, it actually extracts the entire audio from the underlying original source clip. You can test this by extracting audio from a cropped clip, and you will find that you can, by direct editing, extend it back to its original length.
That explains why the audio file when played outside of iMovie plays at the original length.

  • How to extract audio from a video clip

I am editting a video, and I need to extract the audio from a video clip. On the old iMovie it was really easy, all you had to do was press apple K I think. Thanks in advanced for your help.

Select the clip in the sequence.
Then command-L to unlink the clips.
Then select the audio and delete.
    As a suggestion, two things:
    1. Explain what you want to do. If it is delete the audio, then that is different than extracting the audio;
    2. Do a search in the pdf manual in the help manual

  • Audio not playing in clips in exported movie

    Hi,
I have a 4 minute movie made up of a load of clips, and two iTunes mp3s. All the clips are muted and the music plays over them - except for a short section in between the two songs, where the clips are unmuted. The movie plays as it should in the application, but when exporting it out, the clips I want to hear between the songs are muted and there is no audio.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

  • Extracted Audio Not Rendering?

I use Premiere Pro in conjunction with Audition for making videos on my YouTube channel. Recently, I have tried to render videos and all the audio that I have right-clicked and hit "Edit in Adobe Audition", then edited, is rendering as silence. It all plays back perfectly, with the effects in the timeline, but when I render, there's nothing. I'm using the same preset as I always do and has worked before, but to no avail. If I don't edit the clip in Audition, it renders fine, but if I do, there's just silence. I'm rendering in .mp4 in 1280x720 and have plenty of hard drive space, and like I said, I'm using the same preset, so I don't know what is wrong. I've been researching for a few days now and haven't found anything. Thanks for the help!

Under the Sequence menu, make sure all the appropriate render types are checked.

  • Interrupted audio extraction, now audio LOST on some clips!

I was extracting audio from several clips. As it was running I realized I did not need to extract from all the clips, only one. Since extracting audio takes SO LONG, I pressed the CANCEL button during extraction. Now some of the clips had already extracted and those are fine (with extracted audio) but the remaining clips which did not extract now have NO AUDIO at all. HELP!!!! I need to recover the lost audio without losing the hours I already spent editing and arranging clips.

    Hi n
    Are You sure.
If advanced user and really know this, then You need to:
    • delete iMovie pref file
    • Repair premissions - Apple Disk Util tool
    • Repair Hard disk - Apple Disk Util tool - You need to start from CD/DVD or external hard disk to do this.
If not so sure or a beginner:
    • When Extracting audio the original sound is not moved from Your Clip only silenced. If You turn on
audio adjustment "rubber-band" then You just increas the audio of Your clip to 100% ant ther it is.
Last point is my main bet.
iMovie is a non-destructive movie editor. That's why Your sound should be with Your clip and just
    silenced after extracting.

  • 6.0.1 can extract audio, 6.0.2 can´t.

Version 6.0.2 does not allow to extract audio from a video clip within iTunes. 6.0.1 did (MP3, AAC, etc.).
Is this a bug or does Apple not want us to do so?

could be either one, just downgrade or now and see what 6.0.3 has in store for us. i've had so many problems with 6.0.2 its not even funny.

  • UN extract audio

For some reason the audio got out of sync with the video in my clip. I extracted the audio, scooted it over a little and it's fine. Now I want to put the two back together and get rid of the original audio so I can move the corrected clip to the Clips Pane. All I seem to move now is the video part with the original out of sync audio. Or is there a way to scoot the audio without extracting it?
    BN

Hi William - first make sure that your extracted audio is locked to the clip exactly where you want it. Then uncheck the video track's tick box at the extreme right of the track (shouldn't actually be necessary - when audio is extracted, original audio is muted).
Now select the clip and go File>Share>QT (full quality), with the Selected Clips Only tick box checked. Save to the desktop, then drag that new file into the Clips Pane.
Test it, then delete the original.

  • Extracting audio from video clip to use as narration?

    Hi there,
I have a video clip in which I want to take the audio of actor speaking and put it onto another video.
I.e. he is speaking about walking in the park. I want to take him speaking about walking in the park and put it onto the clip where he is actually walking in the park.
How do I do this in premiere elements 10?

    Hi Bill,
Thanks for the quick response. I guess my question now is how would I do those two things?
In terms of exporting the audio, where can I find that option when I'm on timeline?
What do you mean by "Alt-click" and what is a "muxed file"?
    Thanks again,

Welcome to the forum. There are several ways to accomplish this, and your choice might well rest on how you like to work, and what you are doing, such as Deleteing Video. First, you could Export/Share just the Audio as a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, from your Timeline, and Import that into a New Project, where the Audio WAV file would be used. OTOH, you could Atl-click on the Video portion of the muxed file, and Delete the Video, leaving only the Audio portion. Good luck, Hunt

  • How to split video and extracted audio clip at same time?

I imported 10 min of DV from my Sony HC96 camcorder to iMovie 6.
I selected a video clip and split it using cmd-T but the extracted audio clip below it did not split. How can I split both the video and underlying audio clip so I can drag the edge of the new video clip for editing by direct trimming and keep the audio dialogue in sync. I have already gotten the clip volume levels right in the extracted audio.
This seems pretty basic editing but I must be missing something.
    thanks, ralph

Thanks, Sue. Let me see that I have this right. I split the video then the audio. I then selected and trimmed the video to the remove the 10-15 seconds I wanted to remove. To keep the dialogue in sync with the speaker's lips, I then selected and trimmed the audio to the same time as I trimmed the video. Then I dragged the audio clip back up to the new start of the trimmed video clip. I did this and the dialogue and lips seem to be in sync.
I guess originally I had looked for a solution where I cut both clips at the same time and trimming one trimmed the other. But now I see I just need to do them separately. Thanks for the help, Sue!

    Hi Ralph:
You can't do both at the same time, but you can do
them one right after the other. Highlight the audio
and split it after you split the video and be sure to
keep the playhead in the same position.

  • Extracting audio from many clips at a time

I have to extract some audio from many many video clips, so I was attempting to do it in one step, but Logic extract only from one clip at a time
So I'm thinking to use Audio Converter (it can extract audio from many clips in one step), but it ask me the AIFF encoding Bitrate (among 64 and 192 kbps). So I'm wondering... but Logic which AIFF bitrate manages???

yes, it is possible. Infact, it is the normal practice to add those 10 roles to that single user in SU01 direclty.
and as I said, user comparison should be scheduled normally in SAP system landscape to do the things automatically, however not immediately but after some time.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/52/6714a9439b11d1896f0000e8322d00/content.htm
If you want user comparison immediately, then you need to do it manually in the role.

  • Audio Waveforms (On Certain Clips Only) Not Displaying

Long time forum-lurker, first time poster.
Here's the situation: The nighttime assistant editor created a sequence of B-roll clips for an editor. On both the editor's and the assistant editor's computer, the audio waveforms for these clips are not displaying correctly. Specifically, the symptoms (on both computers) are:
    - Waveforms do not appear in timeline unless zoomed in to maximum or second-to-maximum zoom. When zoomed out farther than that, the "X"es appear.
    - When viewing the clip in the viewer's audio tab, either by double-clicking the sequence clip or match-framing from the sequence, the waveforms do not appear at all until I zoom in to near maximum level. When zooming out after that, the remnants of the zoomed-in waveforms remain on the screen.
    - The waveforms of other clips display correctly.
I have tried deleting the waveform cache on both computers, changing the location of the waveform cache and restarting, and deleting the preferences on the editor's computer. I have not tried recreating the sequence from the original clips because the daytime assistant editor has more sequences to create and needs to use her computer.
If anyone can help me, that would be great.
    Here are the specs:
Assistant Editor's Computer: eMac running Final Cut Pro 5.0.1 and Mac OS 10.4.something (I haven't gotten a chance to run software update).
Editor's Computer: Dual Processor Power Mac G5 running Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 and Mac OS 10.4.8.
Both computers are sharing the same media which is located on our SAN. The Editor's computer (along with two other G5-based editing systems) is connected via FibreChannel. The Assistant Editor's computer (along with a whole bunch of other computers) is connected through our server, which serves the SAN drives as network volumes. Assistant editors create sequences on the eMac and upload the project file to the server, where they are available for the editors to download.
Power Mac G5 and eMac   Mac OS X (10.4)   SAN: Xserve RAID, CommandSoft FibreJet (not Xsan). Server: Xserve (Intel model)

Don't know what's going on, but tell us the format of
    the audio.
It's the audio track from a video clip. All video on this project is DV NTSC. The audio is 48.0 Khz, 16 bit, 2 mono channels.
    Also, try copying
one audio clip to a local drive and see if the
    problem persists.
Copied one of the offending clips onto the desktop. Dragged it into the project. Opened it in the viewer and hit the Audio tab. Whaddya know, the waveform appeared.
I cut a chunk of it into the sequence that is full of clips whose waveforms don't work and turned on "show audio waveforms". Waited for a long time and I still just got the Xes unless I zoomed in really close to the new sequence clip.
But then I cut a chunk of the newly copied clip into a brand new sequence, turned on audio waveforms in the timeline, and they showed up.
I don't know if any of this will help to solve my problem, but hopefully it will give someone an idea. I've got an editor who says he's used to editing from waveforms and needs the ability to see them. (Unfortunately, copying media to local drives is not a viable workaround. The media must stay on the SAN.)
