Extracted from data files

Hello All,
DB version: 9i Rel 2
Which Oracle command line tools allow data to be extracted from data files that are NOT ATTACHED to a database?
DN

Oracle Support has a tool called DUL, Data UnLoader, to extract data from data files. They have a nice rate they charge for the service as well. There are other groups that have such tool, and they charge the for the service as well.

  • Error in running Extract Definition Upload from Data File concurrent.

    Hi all,
    Am trying to upload the 834 Extract Layout from the data file by running the concurrent program, Extract Definition Upload from Data File.
    After running this concurrent program am getting the Extract Layout definition with Record layout and Data elements within it.
    But some record layouts has the changes at their repeating level in that.
    Please suggest me how do i get the same repeating levels for the record layouts when i move the 834 benefit extract layout definition

    Hi,
    We have exactly the same error in IBolt. This error happens sometime and we don't find the reason.
    IBolt has been upgraded to Version 3.1 SP1 and a fix has been developed by the support. After installation, we've work hardly during 2 days for testing all the flows by the customer without having this error.
    Ibolt works as a service and when this error occurs, the service stopped and must be restarted.
    In our flows, we have put a delete of the observer.dll file just before the rest of the flow but it doesn't solve the problem.
    Deleting the directory can be temporarly a solution but the error come back another day.
    Each time the SBO client or DTW is started, the %temp%\SMS_OBJ_DLL directory is created...
    When you just delete the observer.dll file and leave the rest of the directory like it is, the file is re-created when you start and log to SBO. I would say that this file is a copy of another file observer_800178.dll (800178 depending of the version of SBO yoi have). 800178 corresponds to SBO 2007 A PL 42.
    Do you have more information since your post has been send ?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best regards.

  • Extra zeros in numeric fields when I create spreadsheet from data files

    I created a form with Live Cycle, and then in Adobe I use the option "create a spread sheet from data files" to import the answers to a xls file.
    I have two problems with this action: the first one is that I get 8 extra zeros in each numeric field, the second one is that fields are ordered by type and not by appearance.
    I tried a different approach importing directly in Excel, in that way there are no extra zeros and the order is correct, but I get just one form each time, and in a "stairways" fashion (i. e. first field in A1, second in B2, and so on)
    I'd appreciate any help

    Where do you find the command "create a spread sheet from data files"?
    Anyway i have a similar problem: when i export data in a .csv file and than i import it in excel, i always get 8 extra zeros... how can i solve the problem?

  • Choose File Form Data Create Spreasheet From Data Files

    I am following the tutorial for LC 8 and when I get to the topic titled "Collecting the data in a spreadsheet" it says to "Choose File > Form Data > Create Spreadsheet From Data Files".
    However, when I try to follow that path I do not see a "Form Data > Create Spreadsheet From Data Files" menu option.
    What am I not doing properly? How do I accomplish this task?
    Thanks!

    Thank you so much Paul. I have been trying all day to locate the method by which I could create a spreadsheet using the pdf submit route. I suppose the tutorial in CS4 should have been changed to reflect the changed explanations, but I guess that would be difficult to do. Anyway it worked and I can now do the analysis I need from my customers (lots of pupils!).

  • Creating spreadsheet from data files

    Why do I get the numbers in square brackets e.g. f[0].p1[0].Name[0], when I collate data using the 'Create spreadsheet from data files' command. I only want to export object names as column titles in Excel. This driving me mad!

    I got the same problem as Zali.I really need some one help regarding regarding this topic.

  • How to create Exe From Data files

    my requirement is very much similar to registration of file extension.
    lets say if you have a file with extension .xyz then you can decide which program should invoke .xyz but instead of any other extension i need that extension of my file should be .exe
    and when user double clicks on this exe files the file should get opened with my own program, but if the file is true .exe (i.e. Created by some other program) then it should not get invoked by my program...
    i dont know how to do this but i know this is possible
    e.g. Flash can create an exe files from their .swf files which when opened run using flash player (but it doesnt get fooled by any .exe file. also flash exe files have different icons)
    similarly winzip can create self extracting exe files from .zip files
    can anybody help me out
    the files i am trying to create will have numeric data in spreadsheet format and when launched the player will show the data in animated format.

    i think i will briefly describe the things; what exactly i want to acheive
    my client will have one application which will acquire data and log them into files. but he want to distibute these files to other people who will not have the application developed by me.
    he wants that file should show the reports in specific way. but to see those reports end user should not be required to install any specific application.
    i know that this thing is possible. as per msdn developer can include any data (text, graphics, audio, video etc.) inside exe in the form of resource file. (and there are programs are avaiable on internet which allow to extract, edit, add resource files inside exe)
    what i dont know right now is how i can access the resource file inside exe

  • NEED HELP... Creating dynamic table from data file...

    Hi
    I'm writing an application for data visualization. The user can press the "open file" button and a FileChooser window will come up where the user can select any data file. I would like to take that data file and display it as a table with rows and columns. The user needs to be able to select the coliumns to create a graph. I have tried many ways to create a table, but nothing seems to work! Can anyone help me?! I just want to read from the data file and create a spreadsheet type table... I won't know how many rows and columns I'll need in advance, so the table needs to be dynamic!
    If you have ANY tips, I'd REALLY appreciated.....

    Thank you for your help. I tried to use some of the code in the examples... I'm really new at this, so I'm not sure how to set it up. I added the code, but when I open a file, nothing happens. Here's the code I have so far...

  • Unable to use B2B Document Editor tool to create guideline from data file

    Does anyone successfully used the B2B Document Editor tool to generate the guideline doc from an HL7 data file ?
    I attempted to use the SpecGenerator feature of this tool to create a guideline from the "a01.xml" sample file in the HL7 tutorials (came with the B2B installation" and the wizard kept on giving me "parsing errors" message below
    "The data in the file could not be parsed. Please check the file to verify that it is valid and formatted correctly. This error can occur for one of the following reasons: A) The data file may be a Word document or have some other binary format. B) The envelope data may not be formatted properly. If this is an X12 data file, please verify that the ISA segment is the correct size (exactly 106 characters). If this is an EDIFACT data file, it must have either a UNA or begin with UNB. For other standards, verify that the envelope segments conform to the specified rules. C) The segment/record delimiters in the file are incorrect."
    Any idea why ? I did not alter the sample file in anyway -- its format is exactly the same as when it was installed.
    Any helps are appreciate !!

    Hi,
    I would suggest that you learn the B2B product starting with the HL7 tutorial. Start by importing the export files and follow the instructions to make the system work end to end.
    Next, you want to configure for the HL7 tutorial manually using the ecs and xsd files provided in the HL7 tutorial directory. Again, ensure that the system work end to end after you have done the manual configuration.
    Next, you create a new ecs and xsd file using the Document Editor from scratch and use them in your manual configuration. You can use the same doctype and version as in the tutorial so that you can be familiar with the Document Editor and at the end of this exercise, you know you have done things properly if the system works end to end. The documentation for Document Editor is mainly in the Windows Help section.
    After the incremental steps above, you will have the knowledge to implement the document type and version of your project. Going straight into the requirements in your project makes it difficult to debug because they are too many moving parts.
    Hope this helps,
    Eng

  • Pdftotext extracting from image files mystery

    hello all, just had a bit of a shock when I ran pdftotext (accidentally) on an unocr'd pdf file, and it extracted all the text. Running pdftohtml (as I'd intended) produced the expected output - i.e. png dumps. Curious, I then tried running it on a bunch of other downloaded files, and with the exception of one, pdftotext extracted the text from ALL of them. The mystery then is that it isnt using any ocr (no tesseract dependency, plus it's way too quick), so clearly it must be pulling it directly from the files. But if the text really is there in the original, then presumably the people who scanned them didn't know, else they'd have left it there. The only thing I can think is that some common piece of pdf software (probably acrobat) has ocr built in, so it's scanning them automatically and then encoding the hidden text in the pdf.
    take for example (legal):
    http://www.cd3wd.com/cd3wd_40/JF/JF_VE/SMALL/27-714.pdf
    open up in a normal pdfreader - very clearly a (poorly) scanned document. Now run 'pdftotext -layout'  on it and you get a pretty impressive text file, considering the source. Sure, some of the formatting is messed up, but I'm sure anyone with sed knowledge could quickly sort most of that out. Besides, that's one of the worst documents -  on most others it was perfect, maintaining columns (even tesseract can't do that) and everything.
    It makes for a fantastic command line pdf reader that works on almost all the files I've thrown at it, and since pdf's are almost the only reason I ever have to load up X, consider me tickled pink.
    Just thought I'd mention it here, as a google search brings up nothing on the issue. hope someone finds it useful

    Yes, Adobe Acrobat has a feature that allows you OCR the text and insert the text as a separate layer behind the image. Such PDFs are called "Searchable image PDFs". There are no doubt some other commercial software options that can do this too. The copier/scanner/multifunction device in my office actually does this automatically when you scan in a text PDF.
    Theoretically, it is even possible to create PDFs like this using free software on linux (a combination of ExactImage and Cuneiform; or WatchOCR).
    See, e.g., this blog post:
    Searchable PDFs with linux
    and this slashdot story:
    Open Source OCR that makes Searchable PDFs
    My own experiments with trying to get something like this to work have not been very successful--at least the quality of the result is nowhere near what I'm getting with our work printer.
    If you like pdftohtml, you should also know about pdfreflow, which takes the XML output of pdftohtml with the -xml flag and creates an html file that can be reflowed (I.e., is smart about paragraph breaks, removes page numbers and recombines words broken through hyphenation and so on).

  • Problem with reading from DAT file. FileNotFound exception

    Can't seem to find the issue here. Two files, one (listOfHockeyPlayers) reads from a DAT file a list of players. The other (HockeyPlayer) has just the constructor to make a new hockey player from the read data.

    We might even be on the wrong track with an easier way to do this. To give you an idea of what we want to do...read from the file and be able to pretty much plug in al lthe players into a GUI with a list of the all the players.
    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for the tip on the date format...good to
    know.
    public static void main(String[] args)

    declared to be thrown
    ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
    ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
    ^This error is simply telling you that an exception may occur so you must enclose it in a try catch block or change the main method to throw the exception as follows
    public static void main(String[] args) throws
                          java.io.FileNotFoundException {
         GUI gui = new GUI();
         ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
         ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");

              ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
         catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
              System.out.println("error, file not found");
    }I would reccomend the second approch, it will be more helpful in debugging, also make sure that the capitalization of "HockeyPlayers.dat" is correct
    hope that helps

  • Automatic loading data from data files in the hard drive?

    Hi, I want to automate the process of loading data from a data file in the file system (e.g. c:\data\temp). I have the script to run using the loader (control file), but have to do manually. I basically have monthly data (exported into the data files from other systems) to load into the database and run the sql loader every month. I appreciate if you can tell me how to automate this or point to any tool. Thanks a lot!

    Depends on your version (it's really important to mention it anytime anyone posts here!)
    If you are on 10g, then DBMS_SCHEDULER can schedule anything you can do at the operating system. If you can write a script to run SQL*Loader, then you can use DBMS_SCHEDULER to automatically run that script.
    It's rather harder to do the same trick on any non-10g database. DBMS_JOB cannot, for example, perform OS commands (such as 'sqlldr'), so then you have to use your operating system's scheduling capabilities (at for Windows or cron for Unix/Linux... and knowing your OS also helps provide meaningful answers!)

  • IMAQ image to array vi not working with images extracted from avi file

    Hi,
      I downloaded some avi's and uncompressed them so that I can analyze them within labview. I am trying to convert images I am reading from the avi file to an array. When I use "IMAQ image to array" I get the following error " IMAQ Image To Array  Invalid image type" -1074396080.
       I am able to display each read image and save them to the hard drive, but I am unable to convert the vision image to array. I verified that the image extracted from avi is the same as the image type I created in memory to hold the image.
      Please see the attached vi I created.

    Hi all, this thread was useful for me...but i have another doubt... when I try to extract a single plane (Luminance, Saturation, R,G,B...anyone) and try to save it in jpg as gray image, it saves an image with blue tones. I have examinated it using Matlab and checked that Red plane has low values (but not zero), the same for G plane and high values for B plane. An image of the VI is attached.
    Thanks in advance

  • How recover data from .dat file without application

    Dears,
    We are active for a few customers who will use an windows application with, so far we can see, an flat file UNIX structure database. It seems that the structure of the database is nearly the structure who used in Berkeley DB. That means that we have analysed the database and found 'information blocks' like Btree, hash tables etc.
    Is their any way to start reverse engineering on the single .dat file, if we have no idea what fields or record the application uses.
    It is hard to believe but the software firm did not want to make the data free .. only for a lot of money .. so far we know the customer is the owner of the data, and the firm have to do that!
    But we can't wait to get the data out this file ... we need some little more help.. to analyse the database and its block structure .. so when we know the database structure (the blocks) we can start analysing the data.
    Many thanks,
    for any reply
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
    We've rarely seen applications using BDB use that extension for the database (it's of course possible to name the file any way you want, but generally the BDB database files use .db as the extension). So, I have a feeling you're facing a file created with another database engine. Nevertheless, here is what you can do:
    - determine the file's size on the disk and post it here;
    - run the following BDB utilities on the .dat file (we'll call it "file.dat")
    db_verify file.dat
    db_stat -d file.datand post here the output.
