Extracting an object from a background to discard

Hi , I have an image and in the background there is a person who is blocking something which I want to be visible
Which tool would be the best to use.
I dont think the magic extractor will do the job as that will highlight the person I'm trying to get rid of ?
Thanks for your help

You really need a second photo which has the item being blocked, otherwise it's impossible.

  • I saw Corey Barker do a demo where he extracted an image from the background, then cleaned up the edge with a process that allowed him to de-fringe it.  I can't remember how he did it. And I can't find it.  Help!

    I saw Corey Barker do a demo a few weeks ago where he extracted an image from the background, then used a technique I was not familiar with to clean it up. You selected the area, then did something that involved going either to edit or select, then there was a dialog box that allowed you to dial it in, depending on the color background you were removing.  I can't find this anywhere. Can't remember.  It's driving me crazy!  If someone can help me find this, I would be very glad and grateful. Thanks!  Laura

    iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
    She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
    Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
    I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
    She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

    Hi All,
    I have question How can we extract
    blob objects from Sql database to human readable format ?
    Blob includes Images, text and docs.
    Thanks

    Best Regards Moug

    One thing you can do if its sql 2012 or later is to load the blob data to FileTable created in database. Then you would be able to physically browse to directory it points and see all files in its native format.

  • How to extract an object from a complicated background?

    any good ideas how to extract a detailed object from a complicated background in Photoshop CC 2014 ?

    I hear you and I agree.  Yes, some images lend themselves better to automated masking tools than others.  I've had a few cases where the tools delivered spectacular results, and others where they wouldn't even get close.  More often they help you get closer more quickly, then you have to do some hand touchup.
    Some images where the process Russell describes worked pretty well...

  • Help: Extract OLE object from 8i (long raw) to a server file folder

    Posting here because most of the technical discussion I have found are in this group (Forms).
    I have an 8i db with workpapers(.doc,.xls,etc) stored in a Long Raw column wrapped in OLE that were collected using forms. The DB is maintained on a Sun Solaris platform.
    I need to extract the documents and write each one to a server folder as a .doc or ,xls without any OLE details.
    Is this possible? How?

    As far as I know you have to use OLE Item to work with the information. Unfortunately there is not any standart way to extract a source document from OLE. Some applications such as Word, Excel support OLE Automation, so you could use OLE2 package to save the document as a file, that is the easest way. But others don't, so you may have to use an undocumented way to extract a document.
    Take a look at the following thread:
    Subj: 6i to 9i Ole to LOB translations, How do you know the App. server?
    Re: 6i to 9i Ole to LOB translations, How do you know the App. server?
    P.S. If you can't extract some types of your documents, please let me khow.
    P.P.S. To extract a document through OLE2 package you could use something like the following. /I'm not sure the code is correct/:
    DECLARE
    handle ole2.obj_type;
    BEGIN
    ACTIVATE_SERVER('OLE1');
    handle := forms_ole.get_interface_pointer('OLE1');
    BEGIN
    -- Save a document to disk
    Args :=OLE2.CREATE_ARGLIST;
    OLE2.ADD_ARG(Args, 'C:\test.doc'); -- file name
    OLE2.INVOKE(handle, 'SaveAs', Args);
    OLE2.DESTROY_ARGLIST(Args);
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
    Message('Error');
    END;
    -- OLE2.RELEASE_OBJ(handle);
    END;

  • Removing an object from a background

    Hi all need some help. Creating a digital mood board for my homework. Need to cut out and display items on the mood board. When I try and remove for example a couch from its surroundings it works but then I try and move it over to Microsoft works and the white background comes back. How do I keep it so that the image of only the couch comes over and not the background!
    Help it's driving me crazy
    Stephanie

    Are you using masks to cut out the couch or actually deleting pixels? If you are using a mask, you will need to apply the layer mask.
    Here I have an image that has a mask over it—imagine that the circle is your couch that you have "cut out" using a layer mask. The rest of the image is still there, but is blocked from view by the mask. When you apply the layer mask, it merges the mask with your image and gets rid of all of the parts of the image blocked out by the mask.
    Control click on the layer in your layers panel to open a flyout. Choose apply layer mask.
    Result:
    So, at this point you will then be in the same part of the process as if you can deleted all of the image surrounding the "couch." Now you save the image as a .png.
    Please let me know if this works for you!

  • Extracting an image from its background

    Hi I have the attached image from which I am trying to produce a logo, eventually exporting it to illustrator.  I have retaken the photo of the charcoal drawing so it is placed on the same paper it was drawn on and have managed to get a reasonable amount of space on the right hand edge but the left hand edge is proving beyond me.  As there are so many greys and light greys, it is proving impossible to get a good selection.  When I place the logo in my wordpress site it looks awful on the right hand edge.
    Please see second screenshot to see what I am trying to explain.
    I tried doing a live trace in illustrator which was also a dismal failure sigh!
    Appreciate any suggestions thanks!

    You probably simply need to hang in there much longer. Sorry to say so, but sounds like you are expecting simple shortcuts and "Which button must I push?" solutions. Live Trace will work just fine, but naturalyl you will need to spend some time with it and still have to spend a lot of time cleaning things up manually afterwards. Likewise, in PS you will have to spend some time and work your way through the selection tools and manual cleanup by painting on the resulting mask/ channel... Not sure what else to tell you. Some things simply are just hard manual labor even in this day and age...

  • How to remove an object from its background with mocha

    Hello,
    I have th Mocha version that comes along with Adobe After Effects CS5.5. Does this cersion has the remove tool?
    Thank you..

    You can track things, create masks, export the masks, remove backgrounds, and do a bunch of really amazing things with the version of Mocha that comes with AE, you just can't drop a clip into the included version of Mocha and render out a composite. There are also other goodies in Mocha Pro.
    I'd suggest that you go through a fist full of Mocha tutorials. There are a bunch of good ones on the Imagineer Systems site. Try filtering the results by Mocha AE.

    There is no need to think about transparent bacgrounds: basically, there is no background.
    You may View>Show Transparency Grid, then hide it again.

  • Getting an object from HttpSession...

    Hi all,
    I am stuck which is according to me is very obvious...please correct me if I am wrong.
    I have a java.util.ArrayList object in my HttpSession object.
    Now in my helper class to which the request is passed from the servlet I am extracting this ArrayList object in one ArrayList object and putting it into the HashMap. After this, I am again extracting this ArrayList object from the HttpSession and assigning it to a newly created ArrayList object in my helper class. Now I am passing this newly created ArrayList object to a method. This method after processing changes this ArrayList object. And finally I am putting this changed ArrayList object in the HashMap I created earlier.
    After doing all this, when I am trying to extract and print these ArrayList Objects from the session object...I found my first ArrayList object has also been affected by the same change as the second one. The expected result was only the second object will be changed. I am stuck with this.
    I know it has something to do with references....but I am not able to understand that when I am trying to create two new copies by extracting an object from the Session...and changing one how is my second object getting affected. Any help will be appriciated.
    The code for this is as follows:
    "phSessionState" is a collection object in HttpSession which holds all the other objects. We are not putting different objects directly in the HttpSession.
    "LineObject" is a simple JavaBean kind of class with gettrs and setters
    ArrayList originalList = (ArrayList)phSessionState.getData("lineObjectList");
    HashMap stagedLineObjects = new HashMap();
    stagedLineObjects.put("OriginalList", originalList);
    //Extracting same in another object and calling a method to update it.
    ArrayList tempList = (ArrayList)phSessionState.getData("lineObjectList");
    //Method to update the ArrayList
    updateLineObjectList(tempList, request);
    stagedLineObjects.put("UpdatedList", tempList);
    //Trying to get the objects from the HashMap and print
    System.out.println("Retriving OriginalList...");
    ArrayList List1 = (ArrayList)stagedLineObjects.get("OriginalList");
    for(int i=0; i<List1.size(); i++)
         LineObject lo = (LineObject)List1.get(i);
         System.out.println(lo.getUserID() + "\t" + lo.getPassword()
    + "\t" + lo.getFirstName() + "\t" + lo.getMiddleName() + "\t" +
    lo.getLastName());
    System.out.println("Retriving UpdatedList...");
    ArrayList List2 = (ArrayList)stagedLineObjects.get("UpdatedList");
    for(int i=0; i<List2.size(); i++)
         LineObject lo = (LineObject)List2.get(i);
         System.out.println(lo.getUserID() + "\t" + lo.getPassword()
    + "\t" + lo.getFirstName() + "\t" + lo.getMiddleName() + "\t" +
    lo.getLastName());
    Waiting for your valuable help...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gauz

    You must remember that objects are passed by reference. So when you are passing around your ArrayList, you are actually passing a reference to the ArrayList. In other words, there exists one instance of your specific ArrayList in memory and what you are passing around are copies of the "reference" to that memory location.
    If you want to pass a copy of your ArrayList, you can create a copy of the ArrayList and pass the reference to that new copy. One way to do this is as follows:ArrayList originalList = new ArrayList();
    //Let's put two objects into the ArrayList
    originalList.add(1, new StringBuffer("object1"));
    originalList.add(2, new StringBuffer("object2"));
    //Now let's copy the ArrayList
    ArrayList copyOfList = new ArrayList(originalList);
    //now, you have two copies of the ArrayList.  You can make
    //changes to copyOfList without affecting originalList
    copyOfList.add(3, new StringBuffer("object3"));
    //Checking the size of each ArrayList will demonstrate a difference
    System.out.println("Original's size is " + originalList.size());
    System.out.println("Copy's size is " + copyOfList.size());
    //Output should be:
    //  Original's size is 2
    //  Copy's size is 3Please keep in mind that the objects within the ArrayList are also being passed by reference. So if you modify an object within originalList, those modifications will be reflected in the same object found in copyOfList.
    For example,StringBuffer sb = (StringBuffer)copyOfList.get(1);
    sb.append(":modified");
    //Now print the values of the first object in each ArrayList
    StringBuffer sbFromOriginal = (StringBuffer)originalList.get(1);
    StringBuffer sbFromCopy = (StringBuffer)copyOfList.get(1);
    System.out.println("Original's value is " + sbFromOriginal.toString());
    System.out.println("Copy's value is " + sbFromCopy.toString());
    //Your output should read
    //  Original's value is object1:modified
    //  Copy's value is object1:modifiedThis is because you made a copy of the ArrayList, but not a copy of each object within the ArrayList. So you actually have two seperate copies of ArrayList but they are referencing the same two objects in positions 1 and 2. The object in position 3 exists only in copyOfList.
    Hope this helps.

  • Extracting object from a picture and erase the background

    Whats the best tool or way to extract an object, or person from a picture and earse the backgroung. Then puting it into illustrator? How do i save it to where theirs no background and only the picture that i selected?

    There is no "best tool". It depends entirely on the image and the talent of the person using the tool (or more likely technique).
    But you may wish to spend some time studying the Pen tool.
    Also, knowing your version of Photoshop would also help those who wish to help you.
    You topic title would also make a great Google search. :)

  • How might I merge 2 photos, and object from one photo cleanly onto a background from another?

    I paint from photos, and wish to merge 2 photos together. I now use PS7. I would like to  clearly merge an object from one photo onto a background in a 2nd photo. The photomerge options in a trial PS10 do not create the composite I wish, ie, a clean object onto a continuous background.

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4264800#4264800
      You need to select the object and place it on to a separate layer and then place the background on a layer bellow it. I created a similar example some time ago. See if the above thread helps.

  • How do I avoid the white line that forms around objects I've separated from a background?

    This is a cropped corner of an illustration I removed from its opaque background and placed on a transparent background.  The north and west borders show the whilte line that forms whenever I place objects on a transparent background.  The south and east borders are the cropped edges -- they are clean and make the trasition from object to background color without that white line.  With some objects, it's possible to use the Plygonal Lasso Tool, for instance, and trim that object away from the background.  With portraits or irregularly shaped objects, though, it's necessary to use the Magic Wand or other means to trim the background away from the object, which results in that unwanted white line.  I've read for hours online about this problem and have found no true resolution: Defringing, Removing White Matte, Anti-aliasing, trying to predict what color you'll lay the silhouette on and working in that color, and on and on.  It seems as though Photoshop would be relied upon heavily by professionals who need to place objects on top of one another without intrusion.  Does anyone have a method that really works?

    Hi!  If the solutions you mentioned aren't working for your project, it might be worth learning a little bit about Layer Masks.  This is a page that explains how Layer Masks work. http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/masking-layers.html
    A Layer Mask is a black-and-white image that corresponds to your source image applied in such a way that white areas display and black areas don't.  So for your project, you would want to use Photoshop to turn your scanned illustration into a black-and-white image where the area you want to keep is white, and the area you don't want to keep is black.  Here is a demo using your uploaded image:
    1. Open your image in Photoshop.  Right-click on your source layer in the Layers Palette and select Duplicate Layer.
    2. With the upper layer selected, use Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate to turn the layer black-and-white.
    3. Use Image -> Adjustments -> Invert to reverse the black and white.  Now the white background should be black.
    4. With the upper layer selected, use Image -> Adjustments -> Levels.  Move the black, white, and gray arrows such that there is a hard black-and-white contrastwhere you want the white background to be removed.
    5. You may have to use the lasso tool or the brush tool to complete the silhouette of the image against the white background.
    6. With the upper, black-and-white layer selected, Edit -> Select All and Copy.  Turn the layer visibility off so that you are again looking at the original image.
    7. With the lower layer selected, click the Layer Mask icon.  Alt-click on the Layer Mask to edit the Mask directly.
    8. Edit -> Paste to apply the black-and-white image you created as a Layer Mask.  If you then click the layer icon again, you should be looking at your correctly cropped image!
    Hope this helps.

  • How to extract a field from Binary object

    Hi Guys,
    I have a Binary object in custom aggregator and I would like to extract a field from the Binary object without de-serializing the Binary object. I know this can be done but figure out how.. Appreciate your help.
    Have tried this
    PofValue value = PofValueParser.parse(Binary, (PofContext) BinaryEntry.getSerializer());
    PofValue child = value.getChild(1);
    Object value = child1.getValue();

    Object value = target != null ? target.getValue() : null;

        ObservableMap backingMap = backingMapContext.getBackingMap();
        MapIndex mapIndex = backingMapContext.getIndexMap().get(new KeyExtractor("getComponentId"));
        com.tangosol.util.InflatableSet keySet = (com.tangosol.util.InflatableSet) mapIndex.getIndexContents().get(compId);

        throw new RuntimeException("Exception in aggregate method", t);
      return extractedValues;
