Extracting Audio too Long

I've read all the forums, but just wondering if anyone know of any work-arounds to the horrendous problem of extracting the audio in iMovie5? Do I need to go back to iMovie4? It is simply not feasible to wait 10 minutes for each extraction, and having to do this 5 times in each project. I do numerous VHS to DVD conversions and this is just taking too long. Audio is out of sync unless it is extracted; and does anyone know why adding the chapter markers appears to cause this problem? Any help is appreciated!

IMovie HD extracts the audio from the WHOLE underlying media clip although it displays just the relevant part. This is why it can take a long time if the underlying media clip is large.
A workaround is to export audio from just the selected clips as 48 kHz AIF and import it back.
Anyway, I always extracted audio in iMovie 4 before burning to iDVD (to avoid audio sync issues). But I no longer do this in iMovie HD because I hope the audio sync issues were a thing of the past.

  • R/3 Extraction taking too long to load data into BW

    HI There,
I'm trying to extract SAP Standard extractor 0FI_AP_4 into BW, and its taking endless time.
Even the Extract checker RSA3  is taking too long to execute the data. Dont know why its taking so long to execute.
Since there in not much data to take such a long time.
Enhanced the datasource with three fields from BSEG using user exits.
Is that the reason why its taking too long? Does User Exit slows down the extraction process?
What measures i should take to quicken the process?
    Thanks for your time

    Thanks for all you replies.
Please go through the steps I've gone through :
    - Installed the Business Content and its in version 3.5
    - Changed the update rules, Transfer rules and migrated the datasource to BI 7
    - Enhanced the 0FI_AP_3 to include three fields BSEG table
    - Ran RSA3 and the new fields are showing but the loading is quite slow.
    - Commented the code and ran RSA3 and with little difference data is showing up
    - Removed the comments and ran, its fine, though it takes little more time then previous step...but data is showing up
    - Replicated the datasource into BW
    - Created the info package and started the init process (before this deleted the previous stored init process)
    - Data isn't loading and please see the error message below.
    Diagnosis
The data request was a full update.  In this case, the corresponding table in the source system does not
contain any data. System Response Info IDoc received with status 8. Procedure Check the data basis in the source system.
    - Checked the transformation between datasource 0FI_AP_4 and Infosource ZFI_AP_4
and I DID NOT found the three fields which i enhanced from BSEG table in the 0FI_AP_4 datasource.
    - Replicated the datasource 0FI_AP_4 again, but no change.
Now...I dont know whats happening here.
When i check the datasource 0FI_AP_4 in RSA6, i can see the three new fields from BSEG.
When i check RSA3, i can see the data getting populated with the three new fields from BSEG,
When i check the fields in the datasource 0FI_AP_4 in BW, I can see the three new fields. It shows
that the connection between BW and R/3 is fine, isn't it?
Now...Can anyone please suggest me how to go forward from here?
    Thanks for your time

  • Extract Audio taking long time!

I have two computers: MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz, and a 2.5 dual G5 Power PC.
A minute long clip on the G5 extracts under 10 seconds, but on the MacBook, it takes about 2-3 minutes.
    Why the difference?
(I am cutting this in iMovie 6... gave up on v. 8)

I wanna complain as well! I know audio editing and movie editing are really Big Tasks from the computer's point of view, but, still! It usually takes *6 minutes* to Extract Audio from a 5 second clip in iMovie.... I'm using iMovie 6.0.3 running 10.5.2 (where do I get 6.0.4? I searched in Downloads from Apple) w/ 4 gigs of RAM on a 2.2 ghz MacBook w/ more than 50 gigs of disk space avail on a 4200 rpm 250 gig HD. This is while running a few other processes but not all that much....
Is this just a structural bug in iMovie? I mean, I've rebuilt my whole work pattern to do other stuff while I do these extractions....!

  • Extracted audio cleanup from iMovie

Have converted old analogue video of school production to clips in iMovie. Have extracted audio (too much 'hiss'), and imported into Logic Pro, applied a Denoise filter and saved as an audio file. Problem is that when I reimport into iMovie the audio file is out-of-sync (though now it sounds great!). Any advice?

hi macmacmac....(say it fast and it sounds like a duck ;))
    Welcome!
    Anyway, have you tried this?

  • Delta extraction too long

    Hi Guys,
The loading performance is very slow to our cubes, the daily report needs to be up by early morning..........
the extraction time in the data packets is taking too long
is it because of huge change log data
    the server load isnt much
    Thanks,
your help will be rightly appreciated

    Hi,
If there any Indexes on your cube, then delete indexes before loading the data.
And minimise your data packet size.not more than 50 thousend records.
    Check you data base space.
You can go to T-Code DB20 which gives you all the performance related information like
    Partitions
    Databases
    Schemas
    Buffer Pools
    Tablespaces etc
I hope this will help you .Assign points if this helps.

  • Extracted audio takes up too much space?

    I'm editing a video that's about 1 hour and 20 minutes long.
I'm putting music over about 2/3 of it, and want to keep the audio from the rest, but I get the annoying audio blip between clips with transitions, so I tried extracting audio from the clips where I want to keep it.
It works fine for a little while, but the more clips I extract the audio from, the longer each one takes, and the whole program seems to get bogged down.
I understand the audio is extracted from the entire original clip. Is there any cure for this problem? I still have 18GB available on my hard drive and the extracted audio seems to be about 1GB.
    Would really appreciate any help!
    Thanks

    Hi Punky,
I usually extract all the audio in one hit after I have finished editing the movie then deselect the audio box for the clips timeline. This way there are no hassles with the audio being out of sync.
As for it hanging during extraction: Which Mac are you using and how much RAM do you have? Have you run a system cache cleaner lately, like Onyx? What other apps do you have running while you are using iMovie? You could also try removing the iMovie.plist (preference) file.
Here's the link to Onyx. Install it and run 'automation'.

  • HT1338 audio midi initializing takes too long

I am having trouble with midisport 4x4 installation and setup. My Cubase 6 (and even garageband) take too long to initialize audio midi setup and finally don't succeed. As a result midisport 4x4 don't work. Even when it does there is notable latency. My audio interface is DIGIDESIGN 003 Rack. I've tried Avid MBOX PRO also. Problem remain the same.

    Hi Brad,
Thank you for your quick response. I am sorry that I couldn't upload the file, and it also has some VI involved with as well, so I don't know if I can do it.
Since it doesn't work when I add 2 inspections to one, I decide go with the Select Inspection Function now; and it seems working well and doesn't take much time to load each of the inspection.
    Thanks.

  • Extracted Audio longer than movie clip, please help...

I was reading some of your FAQ's about extracted audio being
recomposed with a mono instead of stereo for exported audio from a microphone or other mono device, and then importing it back into iMovie after mixing it in Quicktime, to make it stereo (albeit with only mono feed).
    My question is this:
I extract the audio from the clip that I am running, and it is fine and good while within iMovie, however, once I drag and drop it to my desktop, and open it with quicktime and either play it or export it as mono to get it to play through both speakers, it uses the original
length of audio not the edited version that i pull from imovie. It is very frustrating, and I am not sure why it keeps doing this.
While it is in iMovie, the audio and video match, and are synched. But, when I export it, for some reason, it exports the original audio from the unedited clip (which has already been deleted!), and I don't know what to do to get it to export just the audio clip as it stands now within iMovie.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Hi Aesthesia - that is a fact of life of non-destructive editing. When audio is extracted from a shortened, cropped clip, it actually extracts the entire audio from the underlying original source clip. You can test this by extracting audio from a cropped clip, and you will find that you can, by direct editing, extend it back to its original length.
That explains why the audio file when played outside of iMovie plays at the original length.

  • Audio Out of Sync in iDVD 6 Even When Extracting Audio iMovie 6

I realize this issue has been addressed since the first release of iDVD, but the previous workarounds of “Extracting Audio” in iMovie 6 no longer seem to keep the audio in sync when burning to iDVD 6. In fact, the audio is even out of sync in the iDVD preview now; i.e, the preview correctly shows the audio will be out of sync on the DVD-Video.
I have read at least one post that states Extract Audio (in iMovie) does nothing but pastes the audio on a separate track, but Apple’s own Knowledge Base offers this as a solution.
For those of us that have years of video that is analog or 12 bit, the Extract Audio seemed to be the solution, but no longer.
As a noteworthy side comment not meant to make this post too long, iMovie 6 is significantly slower in extracting the audio for a 2 -hour project, taking hours, and making the iMovie file 50MB. The process sometimes stalls to the point where “Force Quit” shows iMovie in Red and “Not Responding” but the process does eventually complete. The previous versions would keep the audio and video files in a separate folder and the iMovie file was a more manageable size. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

I am fairly new to iDVD 6 and iMovie HD (widescreen), but I an currently assembling a highlight DVD for my daughter's softball team. We are in mid season. I had been creating separate movies (per game). I extracted audio and/or added sound and video effects to some of the movies clips. Alas not only do the extracted (original audio) and added audio (outdoor cheer) disappear but also the video special effects (slow motion) are not maintained in widescreen but are pillarboxed when copied/pasted.
At any rate, I am have now created a compilation iMovie and will be dumping new footage into it as we go. Editing the compilation, as well as editing separate "save as" individual game movies.
I only had 2-3 clips that had been audio manipulated and shared those back to my video camera and then reimported from camera back to the compilation project. The extracted audio with separate tracks are now a single audio clip but at least I have audio during those clips.
To end this ramble, knowing the limitations of messing with audio and trying to cut and paste to different movies I will now create duplicate movies with a master having no audio enhancements.
    Dave
    Thanks, Len
I hadn't thought about this option. It seems like a
lot of work. I wish there was an easier way. I have
archived ("Shared" to full dv quality) to DVD-ROM
discs all the raw .dv clips AFTER extracting the
audio, hoping that I could use these clips to
assemble custom DVD-Videos in the future, without
having to "Extract Audio" a second time. The .dv
clips all play perfectly with the audio synced in
Quicktime. Of course, the clip's audio was in sync
before the "Extract Audio" was applied. This sync
problem ONLY rears it's ugly head with iDVD Video
discs (don't know about DVD Pro). Thanks again for
    the suggestion.

  • Extracting Audio in my lifetime

iMovie HD (v. 6.0.3) Audio Extraction - I understand the explanation why it takes so long, but I do a lot of audio extraction and cannot live with this problem. Will iLife 7.0 address this problem? If not, to what earlier version of IMovie must I revert in order to have the audio extraction process occur normally?
    G4 Tower   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If you import the video in short segments, then it'll take less time to extract the audio from those segments.
Let's say you import a 10 minute video clip, and then chop it up into 10-second sequences. When you 'extract' the audio from any of those 10-second sequences, iMovie actually extracts the audio from the entire 10-minute parent clip! ..That's because iMovie has now become a 'non-destructive' editor, which allows you to 'undo' previous choices, and to afterwards extend the limits of chopped-up clips.
[..So if you wanted to extend one of those 10-second clips to 20-seconds by just dragging its boundaries, iMovie will already have the necessary 'extended' audio available to match the new boundaries of the newly 's.t.r.e.t.c.h.e.d' clip..]
If, instead - and this is probably extra trouble for you - you stopped importing halfway through that original 10-minute clip, then rewound the tape a bit, and imported the next 5 minutes as a separate clip, then any subsequent 'extraction' would take only half as long, as you've a shorter original clip to extract the audio from.
If each of your imported clips is roughly a minute or so long, then 'extraction' from any of those clips shouldn't take too long. But if you've been shooting a wedding, and the camera's been running for a continuous 1-hour take, then audio 'extraction' will take ages ..even for a 10-second segment of just a part of that 1-hour take!
For events like that, or music video shoots, it's always best to make a second, "parallel" audio recording of events onto a mini-disc or DAT tape, or digital micro tape, so that you can then import just the segments of audio you want, without having to wait for 'extraction' to finish!
(..For fastest reliable performance, use the old iMovie 2.1.2 ..but that lacks the improvements and enhancements which appeared with, say, iM 4 ..or the HD capabilities and themes of iMovie HD 5 and HD 6..)

This started happening not too long ago. Choosing "Extract Audio" from a selected clip in the timeline (even a very short one) takes something like 10 minutes. Anyone knows *** is going on? Thanks.

  • AirPlay Screen Mirroring (Mavericks) disconnects frequently with "Feedback taking too long to send" message

My company has several TVs with AppleTVs (3rd generation units) connected in our conference rooms so we can "Screen Mirror" our Mac laptops via AirPlay during meetings. Many employees have complained that AirPlay Screen Mirroring drops frequently during meetings for no apparent reason.
In attempts to determine the cause of the issue, I removed the AppleTV units from Wi-Fi and hard-wired them all to the LAN (100Mbps/Full duplex, no switchport errors seen on the Cisco switch). I upgraded the AppleTVs to the latest firmware. I had our AppleTV users ensure they were running MacOS Mavericks with the latest software updates installed. I had the Mac laptops hard-wired into the LAN during meetings in the conference rooms. None of these changes resolved the AirPlay issue.
I reviewed the MacOS "/var/log/system.log" file from the laptops of several users that reported issues. I found a pattern that seemed to indicate that the "coreaudiod" process reported "Feedback taking too long to send" several times before the AppleTV connection was terminated. Also, from a network trace (using "tcpdump") taken during an unexpected AirPlay Screen Mirroring disconnection, I could see that the Mac laptop sent a TCP FIN packet to the AppleTV unit (this would indicate that the MacOS laptop initiated the closing of the AirPlay connection).
I have included the relevant log file entries below. Please note that the LAN internal to our company is "solid" and there have been no connectivity issues detected or reported during the times the AirPlay sessions were disconnected.
I believe I have found a workaround to this issue. By going into "System Preferences", "Sound" and then changing the "Output" device BACK to the "Internal Speakers" (rather than the AirPlay destination), the AirPlay Screen Monitoring connection seems to remain stable.
    My questions are:
    - is anyone else experiencing this type of problem? any other solutions recommended?
    - is there a way to change the AirPlay defaults so that Screen Mirroring only sends the video (not audio)?
    - does anyone know what the log file entries indicate (like, what does "Feedback taking too long to send...." mean)?
    - any fix planned for this issue?

I'm currently still experiencing this as well. I've confirmed it occurs on 10.9.1, 10.9.2, and 10.9.3 on MacBook Pro Retina's, Mid-2012 and 2013 MacBooks. It happens on multiple ATV's not just one, all are updated to 6.1.1 and a simple reboot seems to fix it temporarily but it does come back. All the ATV's are connecting to the network via Wireless not Ethernet. These are 3rd Gen ATV's but I checked the serial number and these do not match the bad batch of Apple TV's from 2013 that were offered up for Replacement for Apple due to the bad firmware update. None of the computers have the Firewall turned on. Here's the two logs that we always find after the issue occurs (logs are recent, happened this morning):
    5/30/14 8:57:36.017 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.016946 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback taking too long to send (30 seconds, 17 total)
    5/30/14 8:57:36.332 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.331492 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback failed: -6723/0xFFFFE5BD kCanceledErr
The user will get disconnected from Airplay anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes after logging on and can reconnect but then once again get disconnected after the same time period. One interesting thing to note is that when the Feedback Taking Too Long to send error starts occuring and the countdown to disconnect start ticking down to 30, its solely referring to Audio not being sent over the network and Video is working just fine. If I try to play sound I get another log and the sound doesn't play through the speakers. After a reboot, sound works fine and the Feedback Error's do not show up. I've also tried switching to Internal Speakers (since it defaultly switches to Airplay Speakers) after connecting to Airplay and seeing the Feedback timer start in the Console Logs but even after that the log continues to saw its taking too long to send and disconnects in 30 seconds.
This issue has been ongoing for months, I've got a ticket logged as far back as January with this occuring but its infrequent enough that we've just restarted and moved on. I'd say its an issue that occurs to about 5%-10% of meetings but that's an entire meeting that doesn't have the ability to Airplay until someone comes down and reboots it.
I don't often post in this forum but its still an active issue with no resolution, proof that its occuring on other people's systems, and no firmware updates having been released to correct it. It'd be nice to know of any workarounds other than having to buy some lamp timers for each conference room just to get a functional ATV or putting up a sign that says hey if you get disconnected every 3 minutes, reboot the ATV. The whole reason we're using Apple products is for ease of use otherwise I'd put together a much cheaper solution myself. Any help or recommended troubleshooting steps would be fantastic at this point.

  • SP2-0027: Input is too long -error on pl/sql procedure

    Hi,
We are on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10. I have a procedure call that errors out with this error:
SP2-0027: Input is too long (> 2499 characters) - line ignored
It is one single procedure but it takes too many long inputs in it. This giant procedure call -with some names changed - is as below - is there a way I can avoid this errro? I will be thankful for inputs on it.

  • Database open (recovery) taking too long

    Hi,
Ive been using your awesome BerkeleyDB Java Edition for a couple of years, and have been very happy with it.
I am currently facing an issue with trying to open the database after a disk-full issue (which resulted in the database being unable to write, and hence not closed properly).
While recovery seems to be operating, it has been taking an inordinate amount of time - 16 hours so far. My database has data of around 200GB, which inflated to over 450GB during deletion of entries, hence gobbling up all free space on disk.
    My questions are:
    * Should i continue to wait for recovery?
    * Is there any chance that recovery is looping?
    * Is there an easier way (DBDump?) to extract data from the database without having to perform recovery?
Some other information that may help:
    * The recovery has decreased the size of the last significant file, and created 3 new files since it started running.
    * I have been monitoring the open files (using lsof), and they change every now and then to other files, though a good amount of its time is spent near the end of the database.
Thus, i feel like recovery is running normally, just taking too long. Please let me know your opinion.
A few other things i should mention regarding my issue:
    * The database was, till yesterday, running on bdb java 3.3.75. After running several hours of recovery, i upgraded to 4.1.10 (since i read about a possible recovery looping bug in one of the versions)
    * Once 4.1.10 started recovery, it spat out errors regarding the last 2 files. Only on deleting those 2 files (the last being 0 bytes, the 2nd-last being about 5k) did the recovery start. Note that the older 3.3.75's recovery never complained about those files. I can post the errors here if relevant.
    * Some of the jdb files (about 500 files out of the 47,000 files that make up the database) are 100 MB files, since i had experimented with larger sized files for a few days, then reverted the setting.
Would any of these above affect a successful recovery?
    My setup is:
    OS:Linux CentOS 5.2, 64-bit, kernel 2.6.18-92.el5
    JVM: Sun Java 1.6.0_20, 64-bit
Memory: 16 GB RAM, of which 8 GB is allocated to the java process (-Xmx8000M -Xms8000M)
BDB cache set to use 6GB RAM (envconfig.setCacheSize(6000000000))
Only the BDB basic API is being used (Environment, database, cursors). We do not use DPL, or HA features.
    Awaiting your kind response,
    Sushant A

    Hi Sushant,
    * Should i continue to wait for recovery?* Is there any chance that recovery is looping?>
I'm not aware of a bug that would cause recovery to loop, however, you may want to take thread dumps to see if it is progressing. It isn't easy to tell, however, since each phase of recovery is in fact a loop. What you can tell easily from the thread dumps is whether recovery is blocked (completely stopped) for some reason. I don't know of a bug that would cause this, but it's something I would check for.
Assuming it is not blocked, I suggest that you leave recovery running, and additionally (in parallel) try to obtain some information about your log. While recovery is running you can run the DbPrintLog utility, which does not itself run recovery. I suggest running the following command, which will tell us in general what your log looks like and in particular how far apart the checkpoints are:
    java -jar je-x.y.z.jar DbPrintLog -h <envHome> -S > <output>Please post the output.
If checkpoints are not running in your application for some reason, or they are running very infrequently, this can cause VERY long recoveries. Unfortunately, you may have such a problem in your app and not be aware of it, until you crash and have to recover. To guard against this sort of thing in the future, you should keep an eye on the checkpoint frequency. EnvironmentStats.getNCheckpoints and getEndOfLog can together be used to tell how much log is written between checkpoints. We will also be able to see this from the DbPrintLog -S output.
    * Is there an easier way (DBDump?) to extract data from the database without having to perform recovery?DbDump normally runs recovery. DbDump with the -r or -R option does not run recovery, but has other drawbacks. With -r, a large amount of memory may be necessary to dump an accurate representation of your data set. If this fails because you run out of memory, -R can be used, but this will dump multiple versions of each record and it will be up to you to interpret the output.
If regular recovery does not succeed, then DbDump -r is the next thing to try.
Would any of these above affect a successful recovery? No, I don't believe so.

  • OPM process execution process parameters takes too long time to complete

PROCESS_PARAMETERS are inserted every 15 min. using gme_api_pub packages. some times it takes too long time to complete the batch ,ie completion of request. it takes about 5-6 hrs long time ,in other time s it takes only 15-20 mins. This happens at regular interval...if anybody can guide me I will be thankful to him/her..
    thanks in advance.
    regds,

Generally the slowest part of the process is in the extraction itself...
Check in your source system and see how long the processes are taking, if there are delays, locks or dumps in the database... If your source is R/3 or ECC transactions like SM37, SM21, ST22 can help monitor this activity...
Consider running less processes in parallel if you have too many and see some delays in jobs... Also indexing some of the tables in the source system to expedite the extraction, make sure there are no heavy processes or interfaces running in the source system at the same time you're trying to load... Check with your Basis guys for activity peaks and plan accordingly...
In BW also check in your SM21 for database errors or delays...
    Just some ideas...
