Extracting bridge metadata

After adding info to the metadata, such as city, sublocation, state, description, I have to enter all the same data to an MSwroks database that i then import into MSAccess.
I thought maybe there was some way to just transfer data with the same field names and thought of adding more of  Windows Explorer tags.  The date created already is there so I searched the list and added city, and state, camera model, etc.  But then those fields and others were still blank, though filled in Bridge.
.  So I am wondering how such information would get into Explorer to be displayed, if Bridge's categories aren't the same.
IS there any way to export such desired information from all the images in a folder.  I just finished supplying the data to another 800+ images recently shot and don't relish entering it all again into the MSWorks database.

Hi Paul,.
I tried the script and it worked well for me, except the state/rrovince was blank.  I think it must be from the category where the city and country wer before that didn't show.
Previously it was a very convoluted procedure for me to get the info to my Access database.  I would first enter the info in MSWorks database, because of the time saver of the fill-down and fill series that MSAccess doesn't have.  After entering all the info I would save it as a text file and import into Access after assigned the fields, some of which had to be modified slightly as one for example would such as slide # and the other slide_#,  One I couldn't change and if I changed the other in ACCESS then all the queries and reports based on it would have to redone also..  I would get the fields to coincide and then do an append query to add to the main table.
I had only one location field when I set up the database, and not separate ones as in Bridge, so city, state and country would all be in the same field. I would only add country when it was not US which was seldom.
In anticipation of the ability to import the different location fields, I added city, state/province and country to the database, and then I spent about 8 hours creating hundreds of update queries, for each state, city and country to have the data of 166,000 records in the respective fields.
I did a sma run yesterday with a folder that only had a couple dozen images.  I have to reorder the fields somewhat, but this is promising to be a huge time-saver and I look forward to using it when I have some much bigger downloads to convert.
Thanks very much for all your help with this.

  • Extracting HFM Metadata

    Hi
I am currently researching the possibilities for extracting HFM metadata into a SQL database. I know ODI has a KM to extract the members for the dimensions.
Could you confirm the format that these members are extracted in?
Does it extract them in a parent/child format or just a flat list members?
    Thanks

  • Custom Info Panel as Bridge MetaData Panel

    Hello,
I have built a Custom XMP InfoPanel that shows up in CS6 Bridge just fine! But for ease of data entry we want it to show up in the Bridge MetaData panel. How is this done with the latest best practices?
I have looked everywhere found a number of ways, but ALL are out dated! The XMP FileInfo SDK doesnt cover this.
    Thank you
    Dean Krueger

    Hi Science_DC,
You are missing the zstring in your label or description and the same issue is with properties too. For testing i changed only two properties but you need to do the smae for others too.  I tested after using the ZString and it's working fine in Bridge too. Please find the original and modfied code (only for two properties)
    1. Your original properties.xml is
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="http://my.custom.namespace/" label="<Your label>" description="<Your Panel Description>">
            <!-- simple properties -->
            <xmp_property name="Text" category="external" label="<Property Name>" type="text"/>
            <xmp_property name="Text2" category="external" label="<Property Name>" type="text"/>
    </xmp_schema>
Insert the ZString like below (inserted text are in bold)
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="http://my.custom.namespace/" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Label=<Your label>" description="$$$/Custom/Panel/Description=<Your Panel Description>">
            <!-- simple properties -->
            <xmp_property name="Text" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Property1 Name=<Property1 Name>" type="text"/>
            <xmp_property name="Text2" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Property2 Name=<Property2 Name>" type="text"/>
    </xmp_schema>
    2. Put that propery file in Custom File Info Panels/4.0/panels (at the same place where DCIM.xml and mobile.xml is)
Following is the screen shot which I got after ZString insertion (CS6 Bridge)
If it doesn't work, could we do remote desktop?

  • Extract XMP metadata from specific Photoshop Layer in After Effects

How do it extract XMP metadata from specific Photoshop Layer in After Effects?
I am just getting my hands dirty with metadata.
I know it is possible to attack metadata to a layer/layerset in Photoshop, but how to I get it out in After Effects.
    Here is the process.
    I create BunchaLayers.psd.
    Using the PerLayerMetaData.jsx file attached.
I use the setCommMetadata("something") function to attacked metadata to a selected layer.
I know that is is there because I check it using the exportLayerMetadata().
I save and imprt BunchaLayers.psd into AE as a comp.
    Here I am lost.
I select my layer in the project window and check the XMP metadata window.
    I can't find my comment.
Is the XMP data actually attached to the layer I imported in AE?
I want to be able to select the layer and see that the data is attached.  Is this possible?
If it is will it work on layersets (comps in AE)?
I would appreciate any layer specific XMP insight.
    Thanks for looking.
    - Josh

John Nack on Adobe : Per-layer metadata comes to Photoshop
This was the article that made me think this might be possible.
There is also the preference to Create Markers From Metadata
    ["Metadata"]
              "CreateLayerMarkersFromFootageXMP" = 01
Which made me wonder if there is a way to create the metadata in the first place that made it something AE would read and automatically change to layer markers.
    Any ideas?

  • Aperture Metadata and Bridge Metadata

I am a photographer and my workflow is to import all my images into Aperture library and add metadata.
When exporting an image is it possible to integrate Apertures metadata with Bridge metadata? This is important feature as most people do not import images with Aperture. The issue is that many of the field names are different or non existent between the two programs. For example Location field in Bridge is Sub location in Aperture.
Can you add fields such contact info such as URL, email that are included within Bridge ITPC Metadata?
Is there a way to customize the metadata fields to work with CS3?

    Unfortunatelly, not really.
I am currently using Nikon Transfer (latest version) to download the pictures from the camera. This software allows me to enter quite a number of IPTC data (including contact information, url, mail, phone, etc.), but maybe not all which are available in CS3.
Then I do import the pictures from the folder into Aperture where I only add contact information in the respective IPTC field. From the tests, I did I do know, that with this step I am using the "old IPTC standard" with Aperture and the new IPTC standard with Nikon Transfer. Clearly the newer is better and meets the needs you described.
In Aperture, I do only see the IPTC data fields, which are common between the two standards (copyright, keywords and description).
When I go to CS3 Bridge, I can see the IPTC data from both, but only of you turn on the "IPTC old" in the Photoshop Bridge settings.
This is how far I have come. I have tested the export with the original and the aperture work copy. As a test reader/viewer of the pics I used Photoshop Elements 5.0 ... but except the copyright information, key words and description, I could not find "my" IPTC data. So there was no contact info. This may be a problem of the old version, so I also checked on a windows PC the file properties (picture viewer), which has more or less the same information.
So the only work around maybe to add contact information into the copyright field - which is not ideal.

  • Zeiss Otus 1.4/85 ZE not listed in Bridge metadata

The latest release of Camera Raw 8.7 states that the Zeiss Otus 1.4/85 ZE is supported. Whilst in Camera Raw it is listed in the Lens Correction Tab, in Bridge the lens is just described as 85mm in the Metadata section. I also have the Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 ZE lens and this is correctly described in Bridge metadata.
Any ideas why this is would be appreciated - whilst not really an issue it would be nice to have the accurate metadata listed.
    I'm running Windows 7 x 64 Pro.
    Thanks

    Hello,
There are no files like that in that folder (com.apple.safari).  They all have long numbers with .jpeg or .png at the end.  That's what I meant by I cannot find any files like those mentioned in all the helps I read today.  BTW-it's still crashing - no particular pattern to it at all.
The only two things I have downloaded recently is a new version of Flash and a Mac-driven update to Office.

Not sure if it's valid to have a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level in that hierarchy. The hierarchy may have to have at least 2 levels. If you want the configuration of a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level, CWM2 may want you to omit the hierarchy, thus creating the dimension with only 1 level.

  • Workflow to extract artist metadata within an mp4 movie

When I add an mp4 file to a document library, I would like to be able to run a workflow to get the artist name out of the file and I'll set a column with that.
I may want to get other fields at a later point, but I need to know how to start this process

    Hi Carphuntin_god,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use workflow to extract embedded metadata from a video file to SharePoint 2010.
Per my knowledge, there is not an OOB way to achieve it. You can get the embedded metadata using programming.
Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/67c007fd-d59c-4881-bbd4-95fbc54ac0b3/pdf-file-metadata-into-sharepoint-list-while-uploading?forum=sharepointdevelopmentlegacy

Or, you can use a third party solution called Video Library to get the embedded metadata from video files.

    I hope this helps.

  • I'm using LR 4.4.  How do I extract the metadata from my images and export it into Excel?

I want to extract the metadata I have added to my images and export it into an Excel spreadsheet.  Can this be done within LR4.4?  If the software doesn't have a function for this is there another way to do it?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

JB's ListView is the most straight-forward solution, but
    ConfidentialInformant
allows for full customization (e.g. if you want to pick and choose custom metadata fields, or export more fields than ListView supports (10), or tweak data formats, or add intelligence...).

  • Adobe CS3 Bridge - Metadata Problem

    Hello,
Alot of my images (JPGs) seem to be losing their metadata, for example, if I keyword a bunch of pictures in bridge and save them. I go back the next day, and they are missing? Also when uploading to a website, if I put in copyright like this:
    © Copright Name 2008
it almost always appears like this when on site:
    Á© Copright Name 2008
Does anyone have any idea how, and why this is happening, and if there is a way to resolve this incredibly annoying problem.
If it's any relevance, I am seperating keywords with commas.

It should be possible to batch remove that using a metadata template where you set that particular field to be empty and then append that template to all your files (and of course, test on some random pics before doing something like this on all your images)

  • Extract schema/metadata - names for all tables and attributes

Hi, I am quite new to Oracle DB (only been doing dev mostly with sqlserver before). Is there a way to extract schema (names for all tables and attributes) for 10g and 11g in application code (either java or .net) or pl/sql?
    Thank you,

There are built in views that start with DBA_, ALL_, and USER_. All means all the user can see, user means all the user has, and dba means everything, which generally means the same as the others plus an owner. So you can desc user_tables to see what-all that view has, then select columns from the view with ordinary sql. See the doc set for all the views available, interesting ones are ...views, ...objects, ...tab_cols and so forth.
There are also built in procedures for getting metadata, google for details.
Many tools have easy GUI's for this too. EM has ways on the administration screen to get to various objects, and then you can show the ddl. Maybe sqldeveloper has something too.
