Extracting Hierarchies from ECC / R3

Hi all,
We have some custom reports now recreated in BI based on versions initially developed in R3.
The R3 reports made extensive use of 'groups' for Cost Center, Cost Element, and Internal Orders, and few if any hierarchies were maintained in R3.
Fortunately, BI7 has built in functionality to ETL user created 'Groups' on these R3 characteristics into hierarchies in BI. However, there are a couple restrictions that we are wondering if there is a way to work around:
1) only Top level nodes in R3 are available for extraction when configuring the InfoPackage - is there a way to select lower level nodes also?
2) only one hierarchy can be loaded per infopackage - is there a way to select and load multiple (or even all) R3 hierarchies at once?

Darryl,
This is the way BI works. You can only select one hierarchy in infopackage at a time. In selection it will show all the hierarchy available not the node name in source system.

Extracting data from ECC tables in BODS

Hello all,
I'm trying to extract data from ECC tables. I have created a data store and imported the necessary tables(FAGLFLEXT) that i will be using. I have used the table in a job as a source and tried to execute the job but i was only able to extract 28 records from the extractor when there are many more records present in the table and also when i view the data in BODS i can only see 28 records.
Plz help me in resolving this. How to extract the whole data?

The table layouts can be found in the [documentation for EPMA|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-data-models-11121-354684.zip] . If this doesn't work, there are other options to export hierarchies to text files. You can use life cycle management or the [EPMA File Generator|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epma_file_gen_user/launch.html].

How to Extract Hierarchies from ECC6.00 to BI7.0 ?

Hi Johnson,
The transfer of P.O from SRM to R/3 happens through function module (RFC) and not IDOC. Only the transfer of GR and invoice happens through IDOC.
The above scenario happens when you are using Extended Classic.
In case of classic scenario, you can only have P.O details in SRM that to in Check status of Shopping cart. You can not display or change a P.O in classic scenario.
IDOCs are not used for the transfer of P.O from R/3 to SRM. And there is no mapping exists for the replication.

Financial Statement hierarchy not extracted correctly from ECC into BW.

Recently, one of my clients modified a FS hierarchy in production environment by moving some nodes from revenue to expenses, but BW is not picking up the change.
In ECC via transaction FSE3, one of our Financial Statement hierarchies shows three nodes - (Group Life_, Vehicle Plan only_, and Cost of Removal_) as Expenses. However, the BW extractor still shows these three nodes as Revenue and loads the hierarchy into BW that way as well.
DataSource is 0GL_ACCOUNT_T011_HIER with field HIENM = AE03. When running RSA3 Extractor Checker in ECC, the displayed data still shows the three nodes in question as Revenue and not correctly as Expenses.
Found SAP note 1061847 - Ind. For reversing plus/minus signs not extracted correctly. Applied note in ECC development environment, tested the extractor, and checked the load into BW, but the error regarding the nodes still exists after applying the fix.
Appreciate any suggestions or thoughts from the community.

Thanks SDNBI. I reviewed the suggested OSS note 1037447, but I am not sure how it applies in my situation. The suggested note seems to address a problem with the display of transfer structure in BW. Our problem seems to be that the extractor on ECC is incorrectly extracting the hierarchy structure. When viewing the data in RSA3 extract checker in ECC, I see the three nodes in question incorrectly positioned in the hierarchy. Thus loaded the same incorrect way into BW. Yet, when I display the hierarchy through transaction FSE2, the three nodes are displayed correctly.

Create Info objects after extracting ds from ecc

Hi All,
I have replicated ds from ecc to bi and executed the infopackage. Now the data is upto psa level. How to create info objects after loading data to psa level to load the info objects to data targets like infocubes and dso. I have done to sucessfully to a flat file.

Hi Sudhir,
You can go into 2 directions: use as much as possible Business Content InfoObjects or use custom InfoObjects. A combination is also possible.
Especially in conjunction with SAP ECC extractions the Business Content InfoObjects are a safe choice. However, please consider the advantages it can have to use custom InfoObjects.

Extract data from ECC to Oracle using Data Services 4.0

How to extract data from ecc6.0 Business content extractors to oracle using sap bo data services 4.0

Are you trying to use the SAP BW Business Content to extract data out of ECC and load into Oracle tables with Data Services? If that's the case, then you cannot do that. The SAP BW Business Content was developed to only be used in conjunction with SAP BW. When using Data Services to access the extractors in ECC, it has to have an SAP BW InfoPackage associated with it to execute. In this architecture, Data Services is only a pass through from ECC to BW and allows the ability to do some transformations of data prior to loading into the EDW layer (staging tables basically) on SAP BW.
To connect ECC to Oracle, you're going to have to have all of the SAP BusinessObjects supplied Function Modules loaded onto ECC, along with a non-dialog logon account that has the ability to pass dynamic ABAP programs, generate the programs and schedule them. Depending on how you want to process the output, you may also have to have the ability to write to files on the ECC application servers and have an FTP account created on the application servers that can GET flat files and potentially DELETE them (you're going to need to delete periodically, otherwise your jobs will crash when the file space allocation has been consumed).

Error when Extracting Metadata from ECC

Yeah it is not a best practice to assigning SAP_ALL. You should create a new role with authorization. Please contact your basis team. Ask them to create a New role and grant Authorizations. But in some cases SAP recommended to assign SAP_ALL authorization.

This composite profile contains all SAP authorizations, meaning that a user with this profile can perform all tasks in the SAP system. You should therefore not assign this authorization profile to any of your users. We recommend that you create only one user with this profile. Instead of using the SAP_ALL profile, you should distribute the authorizations it contains to the appropriate positions. For example, instead of assigning your system administrator (or superuser) the authorization SAP_ALL, assign him or her only those that apply to system administration, namely the S_* authorizations. These authorizations give him or her enough rights to administer the entire SAP system, without allowing him or her to perform tasks in other areas such as Personnel.

One Time Flat File load in a Cube that extracts from ECC

Hi,
I have a cube that is already extracting data from ECC on a daily basis. I am asked to load some historical data into the cube from their legacy system. My question is, how do i prepare that file from the legacy system to match the fields in the Cube? What are the technicalities that i need to look at?
For Example:
0MATERIAL in the Cube: Material Number in the Flat File
ZAMOUNT in the Cube: Cost of Product in the Flat File
How do I arrange to match these?

How to extract data from structures or create a datasource using structures

Hello Friends , I have a requirement to extract data from ECC fields, but when i go look the table i found only "structures" REBD_CONTRACT_REL_L and i confirmed with ecc team that there are no table available with these fields so how do i now extract the data in BI using the fields in ecc that exist only in these Structures.
Please help me to resolve this

Extracting Hierarchies

I am new to EBS...
I need to extract hierarchies from EBS to build an Essbase cube and load GL data.
I can see the hierarchies in the ' Application Object Library ', FND.
Is this the best place to go and get the hierarchies? I would have thought they would be in the GL...

Unable to extract the data from ECC 6.0 to PSA

Hello,
I'm trying to extract the data from ECC 6.0 data source name as 2LIS_11_VAHDR into BI 7.0
When i try to load Full Load into PSA , I'm getting following error message
Error Message: "DataSource 2LIS_11_VAHDR must be activated"
Actually the data source already active , I look at the datasource using T-code LBWE it is active.
In BI on datasource(2LIS_11_VAHDR) when i right click selected "Manage" system is giving throughing below error message
"Invalid DataStore object name /BIC/B0000043: Reason: No valid entry in table RSTS"
If anybody faced this error message please advise what i'm doing wrong?

I did't migrate 3.5 to 7.0 in Production it's not allowing
When i try to schedule the InfoPakage it's giving error message "Data Source is not active"
I'm sure this problem relate to Data Source 3.5 to 7.0 convertion problem in production. In Development there is no problem because manually i convert the datasource 3.5 to 7.0
