Extracting text (UTF8 and UTF16) from the SWF file format

Hello.
Just wondering if this newsgroup is the right one to talk
about the
'open' SWF file format. I'm looking for a utility to pull out
the text
strings inside of a SWF file (both UTF8 and UTF16). The file
format is
open-sourced, so I guess that I could write something, but I
remember
there being some tools here when Adobe first open-sourced the
format,
but I'm not able to find the tools anymore.
Any help?

Possible to get the color space and resolution from the .eps file

We have using the InDesign CS3 5.0.4, windows, javascript. We need to get the color space and resolution of the graphics (.eps) file using scripting.
The properties of the image like (actualPpi and effectivePpi will return the value only for the .tiff. and .jpg etc) but it will not return the .eps file resolution values.
Kindly give me the suggesting for the decrepancies.

On opening them in Photoshop, it asks you "what resolution shall I use, and what color space shall I apply?"
A single EPS may contain any number of embedded bitmaps, with any horizontal and vertical resolution, and in any color space. You can use only a few of these with Illustrator -- and even only one at a time with Photoshop --, but other programs allow just about every possible combination.
Not to mention procedurally generated bitmaps, also possible with PostScript.

Plug ins and rosetta from the help file

does anyone know how to get safari to open with rosetta - to use plug ins better?
I follow the instructions but cannot find the rosetta check box anywhere - screen shot helpful
could it be my imac 1.9 G5 PPC doesn't have rosetta?

I'm trying to watch tv (live football) on my imac G5 and Safari is struggling with some of the pages. Can't download IE anymore and so I need to be able to find the required plug-ins to watch. for example: Safari can’t open “tvants://www.tvants.com/tvants/?k=b098b8443c47b932”
also plug-ins required are a common error message.
I think this technology may only work with PC's - a shame
appreciate any help - have had a mac for years (since my Amiga became a relic!)

How to find the version of weblogic and ADR from the zip file

Can someone please tell me what version of weblogic is this => wls1034_generic.jar? And what version of ADR libaries are these ? => ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.zip ???

Yes .. it is a little different .. got some extras and has
some
restrictions. But there is a lot that is the same.
There is a separate section on mobile devices (in the Adobe
site where you
can get info on the format (or at least, there was for flash
lite 1.x)

How was that PDF file created? Please see Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community
It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?

The swfutils.jar is now open source under MPL.
We can hack swf files with swfutils.jar
But "SWF and FLV File Format Specification" seems still closed.

Hi, good question. You're right that we have not changed the license of the SWF specification at this time, but it's something that is always under consideration. So you can use swfutils for whatever purpose the MPL allows, but the spec will still maintain its own license for now. I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . Thank you for the helpful advice. I made the changes as you suggested but I am receiving a #1009 error message even though my site is working the way I wan it to work. I would still like to fix the errors so that my site runs and error free. This is the error I am receiving:
"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."
I'm sure this is not the best method to unload loaders and I am guessing this is why I am receiving the following error message.

I also tried creating a function to unload the loader but received the same error message and my portfolio swf was not showing at all.

I have a question regarding suggestion you made to set Mouse Event to "null". What does this do setting the MouseEvent do exactly? Also, since I've set the MouseEvent to null do I also have to set the loader to null? e.g.

I have no idea about any tool which only extract the DDL of constraints.
In oracle 9i or above you can use DBMS_METADATA to extract DDL of a table which also shows contraints defination.
You can take the tables export without data and use databee tool to extract the DDL.

Also, I wanted to know what each subscriptions included as far as my question above is concerned?
I am trying to edit a scanned page (pdf file) by changing some words and erasing the background from the page that is showing through it since the paper is so thin and want to know which subscription to buy in order to complete these tasks?

This cannot be done in Reader. I think you will need software like Photoshop. You may be able to get buy with Photoshop Elements, but I haven't used recent versions of that software. Using either software this will not be an automated task.

The problem is in the delimiters in your text file. By default, Read From Spreadsheet File.vi expects a tab delimited file. You can specify a delimiter (like a space), but Read From Spreadsheet File.vi has a problem with repeated delimiters: if you specify a single space as a delimiter and Read From Spreadsheet File.vi finds two spaces back-to-back, it stops reading that line. Your file (as I got it from your earlier post) is delimited by 4 spaces.
Here are some of your choices to fix your problem.
1. Change the source file to a tab delimited file. Your VI will then run as is.
2. Change the source file to be delimited by a single space (rather than 4), then wire a string constant containing one space to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi.
3. Wire a string constant containing 4 spaces to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi. Then your text file will run as is.
Depending on where your text file comes from (see more comments below), I'd vote for choice 1: a tab delimited text file. It's the most common text output of spreadsheet programs.
Comments for choices 1 and 2: Where does the text file come from? Is it automatically generated or manually generated? Will it be generated multiple times or just once? If it's manually generated or generated just once, you can use any text editor to change 4 spaces to a tab or to a single space. Note: if you want to change it to a tab delimited file, you can't enter a tab directly into a box in the search & replace dialog of many programs like notepad, but you can do a cut and paste. Before you start your search and replace (just in the text window of the editor), press tab. A tab character will be entered. Press Shift-LeftArrow (not Backspace) to highlight the tab character. Press Ctrl-X to cut the tab character. Start your search and replace (Ctrl-H in notepad in Windows 2000). Click into the Find What box. Enter four spaces. Click into the Replace With box. Press Ctrl-V to paste the tab character. And another thing: older versions of notepad don't have search and replace. Use any editor or word processor that does.

Detect end of the .swf file from captivate

I've a .swf file sent by our clients. They want to put that .swf file on the webpage. The .swf file is published from captivate.
Now they want to display a submit button on end of the .swf (video). I don't know how to detect end of the video.
Need help...!!!

Welcome to our community
Within Captivate you are able to choose different actions to occur when the Captivate movie completes play. Of course if you don't have Captivate and the project file you are pretty much stuck with what you have. If you *DO* have access to the source, you would then configure the end action to be what you like. Perhaps execute some JavaScript, load a different page, etc.
If you don't have access to the source file, you may be better off asking whomever provided the SWF to you to make a small change to the end action. They would then compile a new SWF and provide that to you to use.
You just said a "Submit" button should appear after the video plays. What exactly is this button supposed to do?

Invisible text - a different situation from the norm

Hey fellow reader users,
I happened to run into a problem today when attempting to read an ebook (textbook) today; various parts of the text, (around 5 words per page) were all missing. When I copied and pasted from the pdf into word or notepad, I would see the "invisible text." It so happens I have adobe acrobat pro as well, but there is the same problem. If I (in acrobat), edit the missing text to a different font, it shows up, rather than being a color issue. If anyone has a workaround for this problem for reader or acrobat, it would be much appreciated!
