"Extracting...this might take a while" message and download status bar running for 15 hours.

Having purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Mac Download, and installed the program with Adobe Download Assistant, the program is loaded but the status bar has continued to run for 15 hours with a message underneath stating "Extracting...this might take a while".  Also, a warning message appeared during download stating "The following disk images couldn't be opened"; (Image) AcrobatPro_11_Web_W, (Reason) error -4960.  How do I complete this download?

Check for the Internet connection. If its good, then try the same with a different broswer. Below link would help in this scenario,

  • "Letterboxing...This may take a while" - 17hrs and COUNTING???!! Advice

I'm doing a football scouting film and I imported footage from a Canon XL1 and a small Sony HandyCam.
There are appx 70+ clips in the project.
When I clicked on the "EDIT" switch to start editing, I got the "LETTERBOXING. PLEASE WAIT...THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE" message...that was 17hrs ago!
My hard drive is almost FULL and I'm guessing thats why its taking so long. I keep deleting things to make room for this to finish.
    1. Why does it even have to letterbox at all?
    2. How can I speed up this process?
    3. Should I FORCE QUIT and try to start over? (I don't wanna do that)
ANY advice would be much appreciated
    thnx

I would suggest force quitting, opening a new file and on the opening window, change the bar at the bottom to say DV widescreen. Thay way it doesn't have to Letterbox

We have Exchange 2007 environment and mixed of Outlook 2003, outlook 2007 and outlook 2010.
Today, one of our team created a application triggered Survey mail and sent internally.
The survey mail has been reached all the outlook clients but considered as Phishing mail with the above warning.
On checking the Survey email i could see there is a link for the IP address(http:\\130.X.X.X\Survey) Ex: Survey form which directs to an aspx page.
I need to ensure this is not blocking or pop-up as Phising mail anymore, since it's a internal survey.
My suggestion to avoid the Phising are:
    1. Change the IP address to valid internal Domain name.(i.e. Valid DNS name)
    or
    2. Using this option :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2252421
But unfortunately there is no GPO configuration currently in our Enivronment.
Please share your valuble comments and any help is much appreciated.

Besides, you can disable phishing option from outlook.
You can find the option from Tools-Options-Junk email

I downloaded the trial and had to download the adobe download assistant and it started downloading my file after it finished.  After it finished downloading it said Extracting... This may take a while.  Its been saying that for 4 hours now and it only took 30min to download.  Is this normal and if not what can i do to fix it?

  • This might take a while... (lots of problems)

Well, my iPod problems started when I noticed that several tracks would be skipped during normal playback (I would finish track 1 but skip to somewhere around track 8 or 9). I tried syncing my iPod to my computer but the computer (both Windows and iTunes) would not recognize the iPod (I'd get the "do not disconnect" screen and everything would freeze). I went through the 5 R's and nothing worked. Here's a rundown of what I've tried:
Resetting the iPod (both connected and disconnected from the computer) - neither worked
Retrying on another USB Port - I've got a hub and none of the USB's worked
Reinstall - I think I've repaired iTunes at least twice, removed and reinstalled another 2 or 3 times
Restored - This wouldn't work - the only way I could restore was to put it into disk mode and restore it from there
Since this didn't work and my patience was getting thin, I went to the Mac store and they were able to tell me that my iPod was working and they were able to put some songs on it and everything was working fine. I connected the iPod to my computer and reformatted it and it went back to what it was doing before I went to the store (Windows recognizes it, iTunes doesn't). I went back to the Mac store and same story (it worked for them) but they told me I had some kind of software hiccup and they couldn't really help me because I use a PC. I turned my iPod off for a few days and just today I went to turn it on to get the serial number and it wouldn't turn on - it sounds like normal (normal whirring and startup screen) but suddenly all the noises/whirring stops and the iPod restarts itself. This goes on for about an hour or so (during which I can't turn it off) untill the battery runs down (I did get the low battery icon) and now it looks like the iPod shut itself off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (especially since self-help hasn't worked and the staff at the local Mac store aren't compatible with PC's).
    Thanks

Just a quick thought - I've had this problem (most recently this past weekend) - where the ipod will start playing a song and skip to the next one at some point...then it may decide to play this song, or if not, move on.
So if THAT sounds like the problem, keep reading.
I also tried to restore and I couldn't (and my itunes also wouldn't recognize it even after changing USB ports). Ok, so the point is this: it sounds like the apple store in your area ***** because of the whole PC thing - they should be able to support it there. I would maybe suggest sending it to apple or going back to the apple store again for a 2nd try.
When I took mine to the store here in chicago this past weekend, they couldn't restore it either, so they gave me a replacement.
I'm sorry I don't have any better advice, but I just went through this same process this past weekend. (I guess you don't have a laptop that you can take with you to SHOW them that it doesn't work?)

  • Photoshop Elements 10 downloaded but hanging on 'extracting this may take a while' - what do I do?

Its been like this for ages, and as I'm new to Mac, I'm not sure where to begin looking for the download location.....
    Appreciate any help!!
    Thanks.

From your description it sounds like you have chosen a location to download, i.e. the Applications folder, which the Adobe Download Assistant does not have permission to download too.  I would recommend canceling the download and trying again.  This time please choose the default location of the User folder to download the install files too.

  • I started the Iphoto update and it had been running for hours to upgrade my photo library

Today I ran my updates that were available.  One was for Safari and one was for Iphoto.  I restarted my computer and went to my Iphotos.  It has been showing upgrade for six hours and still nothing.  It just continues to show that it is upgrading my library.  I had not read anything about this as I trusted that it run would smoothly.  Now I am seeing that there have been problems and that I should have backed up my photos.  Is there hope that it is still trying to upgrade my photos?

It's not upgrading your photos, it's upgrading the Library.
Try force quit iPhoto (it's in the Apple Menu) and cross your fingers that there has been no damage.
If there has been damage post back.

  • Extracting-this may take forever.

    "Extracting—this may take a while."
Is it supposed to take all afternoon to extract a trial of Design & Web? What should I do? (Macbook OS 10.6.8)

No, it isn't. Anything longer than half an hour is a busted attempt. Try again picking otehr download and extraction locations.

  • Downloading TRIAL CS6... "Extracting...this may take a while.." Is taking too long.

I've used the Adobe Assistant to download the trial version of CS6, Design and Web Premium on my MAC. It has gotten all the way to the point where it says "Extracting...this may take a while...." But it's been almost 24 hours at this point. What should I do? Do I start over? Or is there something I can do to speed up this process. This is ridiculous at this point. Never had  problem like this before...

Yes, start over. Use anotehr browser to initiate the download or use this method:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Then extract the files manualyl using winZip or similar tools.

  • Premiere Pro trial hangs at "Extracting...this may take a while"

I have tried downloading Premiere Pro several times and each time it downloads and it starts to extract.  It just sits at the "Extracting...this may take a while screen".  I left it up all night and it was still that way the next morning.  I looked in take manager and It does NOT say "not responding"  so I think the download assistant program is OK.  I did go ahead and uninstall it and reinstalled it as well.  I am running Win7 64bit.

This is likely happening due to choosing a location to download the install files to that the Adobe Download Assistant does not have sufficient permissions to write too.  I would recommend completing solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1 to reset the download experience.  When reinitiating the download please choose the default location of your User folder to download the install files too.
Alternately you can follow the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • Rikaichan (add-on) doesn't work at my office. It gives this error "Javascript application: the index for one or more dictionaries needs to be created. This may take a while on slower computers". And then the PC freezes. What should I do?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.17, and have installed Rikaichan 2.02. Once I've installed the Japanese-English dictionary, I then click on Rikaichan to get it started, and it always gives a "Javascript Application" error:
'''"The index for one or more dictionaries needs to be created. This may take a while on slower computers"'''
Rikaichan always works fine on my laptop, but I just can't seem to install it properly at work. Is there some sort of office security screwing it up?

    venicespent,
Boot into your Mavericks Recovery partition by hold down the command and R keys whilst booting. You'll see a screen that looks like this:
Click on the Disk Utility item to open Disk Utility. You should see your boot drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've changed it) in the column on the left of the screen. Select your boot partition and click on the "Verify" button. Let your Mac do it's thing - if you get green text telling you that everything seems to be OK, then your disk should not be damaged. If, however, you get red text telling you that the disk needs to be repaired, click on the "Repair" button. If the disk can be repaired, you should be good to go. If the disk cannot be repaired then the drive is damaged.
But before you do anything, make certain that you have backups!!!

  • I have an iphone 4, how do I take stored voice messages and record them to a stick?

I have an iphone 4, how do I take stored voice messages and record them to a stick?  A family member passed away and I want to keep their voice.

    Hey there!
Sadly, there is no way to do this.
I'm sad to hear you've lost a familymember.
Try this: Move in a quiet-room. Play his/her voice over speaker of your iphone and record it with free recording-softwarefor windows or mac.
Hope this will help you keeping the memory.

We have a web role where we have hosted a WCF service.
We are facing the below exception intermittently on consuming the service.

    Hi Eswar,
As the error message mentioned, it may be a mismatch between the configuration on the client and the server.Try putting all your configuration in a binding configuration and then use the same binding configuration on the server and client. Since this issue
is more related with WCF, I suggest you move to WCF forum, it is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
