Extras notes --- iPod works fine in iTunes, but doesn't show up in Windows

Hi all!
Gotta wierd situation.
My iPod works fine in iTunes.
I have had 'Enable for Disk Use' enabled for a long time. However, my iPod doesn't show up under My Computer on WinXP.
I'd like to add some new Notes and remove some old ones, but you have to do that thru Windows, not thru iTunes.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

i noticed one thing. the iPod is formated as FAT32, but i have my HD in NTFS. could this be related?
no, that one's normal. we need to leave her as FAT32. see:

hmmmmm. it's like the "enable disk use" setting is just refusing to stick for you.
but maybe we've got a window of oppportunity while it's doing that initial sync. the rules seem to be different for you then.
maybe try switching enable disk use off. then eject her, and plug her back in again (while you've got itunes already running).
the second she shows up in the itunes sourcelist, try diving into the preferences tab, and re-enabling disk use.
(i checked, and it's possible for me to do this with attractive beast ... hoping here that doing the "enable disk use" under these circumstances might get it to stick for you.)

When I first installed the Second Gen Nano, Windows explorer picked it up immediately as a drive and I could brouse all files on the Nano. My previously installed Itunes came up and stated I had to upgrade to a newer version for it to work.
After installing the newest Itunes, it works perfectly, but, the Nano no longer is found on my explorer or in My Computer. What happened?
My devices show the correct drivers and everything is working well. It is like Apple no longer wanted me to view the Nano outside of Itunes.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the drive assignment and letter (P) initially used for the Nano is open and available, so there are no conflicts there. Further, Disk Management only identifies the HD's I have and no others.
Everything appears cogent and within parameters, yet windows does not recognize the Nano (with exception to operational device drivers), while Itunes does and works just fine.
The issue has something to do with the newest version of Itunes, as the older Itunes version couldn't read the Nano but explorer could.

You probably don't need it, but the Tiger "iSight Updater" is located in the \System\Library\CoreServices\iSight Updaters\iSight Updater folder.
(You must look manually because SpotLight does not find it.)
Double click the "iSight Updater" there to run the Firmware update manually.

iSight "Product Revision Level" in your Mac's System Profiler shows the installed firmware version for external (Firewire) iSight.
Firmware 1.0.3 Update offers only "Improved audio performance". It does NOT enable audio or any other function, so that is NOT your problem with Skype or YMM. Search or post in their dedicated help/discussions for best and quickest help with those specific, non-Apple apps.
Regardless of whether System Profiler utility shows Firewire iSight's Firmware (Product) level of 1.0.2 or 1.0.3, external iSight ought to work. You can test your external iSight using the suggestions on this linked page:

I have already restored my phone to the newest software and also completely uninstalled itunes and re downloaded it.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have gone through ALL the above steps and are still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

Itunes will not detect my new nano. HELP! I have a dell with vista. my old shuffles work fine with itunes, but it will no longer detect my nano. Apple says my nano is fine.

I've worked with Apple 2 times. The first time we spent 2 hours on the phone uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, quicktime and other software and it worked for a while. Now, once again, itunes will not recognize my 6th generation nano. My old shuffle works fine. I sent the nano to apple and they shipped it back stating it was fine after upgrading firmware. I have read so many answers to the question about Airplay not working both here and the internet.
Can someone give me the definative answer why I can Airplay from iTunes but not from the Macbook Pro itself i.e. no menu icon or setting to mirror.
Everyone seems to say its the age of the computer or its the firewall or the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.
Why if I can do it oneway (iTunes), I can not do it directly?
I am using a 2011 macbook pro 10.9.3 and a apple tv 3.
Is there a hack or work around with out purchasing more software.

Can't delete file after renaming due to Word file handle still present. Error staes document is still in use but it's really not. Worked fine in 2007 but not in 2010.

I have some code associated with a Word Template. The template is opened, filled out and saved via a routing in vba. This all works fine in older 2007 version (which is version it was originally created in). Once this file is saved, the user can change the
date in a text box and re-save document. The code saves using the new date for part of new file name and then deletes that older file from the server. It fails at the delete function because the newer version of word is not dropping the file handle from the
first named file when user saves it to the new filename. In older version (2007) this handle was released as soon as file was saved to a different name. I can't seem to figure out how to release the old document filename so the old document file can be deleted.
I hope I explained this well enough.
Here's the code that woeked in version 2007 but fails in version 2010.

I went back and looked at my code and had already updated it to SaveAs in the new docx format. It still holds the lock handle in place until Word closes, unlike earlier versions which released the lock handle when you did a SaveAs.
As a note, all my Word and Excel macro-enabled (dotm & xltm) templates are read only and are never filled in, prompting the user for a file name on any close event or if they run the code gets auto-named. I do the SaveAs and concatenate the file name
from data on the document (or sheet) that has been filled in. During the SaveAs the docx gets saved to a network folder and also on a local folder. The lock gets renamed to the filename and remains until Word is closed.
So my code still fails at the point noted below while trying to delete an old filename version after the file has been saved as a new filename in a new folder. So....
The code is looking in the last folder where the docx file was saved for the older filename so it can be deleted. The newest docx version has already been saved in a different folder and has a new lock handle of its own. That lock is not my problem, it's
the older file lock which really exists in the same folder as the first filename that the docx was saved to. It does not release that lock until I exit Word. My work around has been to instruct all users to manually delete the older version file.
The other odd thing is this only happens when I run it from code, if you manually go through these steps with the SaveAs menu drop-downs in Word it will release the lock handle???

Application works fine in Preview but doesn't play on iPhone?

I finally decided to purchase a Developer license to start testing performance of my game on my actual iPhone. My game works perfectly on my computer, however I published to my iPhone and when it loads, it shows the graphics of the game but it is as if the game never starts. It is just frozen on the first frame of the game.
I've tried doing a remote debugging session but it won't connect for some reason. I'm on the same wifi network, I've published from Flash using the Quick for Debugging option. When I load the game, it freezes on the first frame and doesn't ask for the IP of my computer (which is supposed to happen on debugging right?)
What should I try from here?

I got debugging working: I'm getting an error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error.
It corresponds with the first line of these three lines:

SSIs are parsed by the server. You're probably not doing anything wrong, you simply need to upload the files to your remote server and look at the pages on-line.
If you want to preview local files, you'll need to install a local testing server on your machine. Get one of the following servers for your OS and follow the installation instructions.

IPod Touch not detected in My Computer but works fine in iTunes?

I can do everything fine with my ipod touch 4g in iTunes but I want to retrieve the video files I have on the iPod touch. The iPod doesn't show up in My Computer.
- My 1G iPod Touch shows up in My Computer when connected.
- Uninstalling Apple Mobile Device Support allows me to see Apple iPod in My Computer, but it's empty. After iTunes opens the Apple iPod icon disappears and there's nothing in My Computer.
Help please?!

Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
