Extreme Problem - Cannot browse, or even connect.

Setup: Airport Extreme connected to Unwired (ISP) ADSL modem by ethernet cable. Local ISP (Australia) ramps down the speed to dial-up speed if monthly download (1GB) limit is exceeded - that is the situation now.
Problems: (1) I have an I-book that is "connected" to the airport, but the web browser (IE) cannot browse. I keep getting a "connection failure" message. Internet Connect shows a successful connection tot he wireless and to the internet.
(2)I also have a PC connected to the Airport by the ethernet cable and can browse OK (but slow). However, if I try to connect the PC by the wireless to the airport I get the message that Windows cannot make the connection.
The signal strength of the wirelss is very strong for both computers.
I have called the ISP (Unwired) to see if there is some sort of hardware control info they need. No, they say to put everything in automatic.
I have reset both the modem and the Airport's configuraqtion for maximum availability, and have left them off for a few minutes.
Thewre is WEP encryption, but I have included the passwords when necesary.
Any ideas?? Many thanks!

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 problems - I can't even connect to the App Store?

One of the very odd issues I have been having since installing the Yosemite 10.10.1 update is that I can't even connect to the App Store, however, that is when my intermittent WIFI is even functioning.  The spinning wheel spins and spins and then I finally get a "Cannot connect to App Store Message".  Every once and a while my WIFI will work enough to try to download an update, so my updated applications summary lists 3 or 4 separate updates of the same update.  So, even if Apple resolves the 10.10.1 problems, my MacBook Pro Retina will still be a great big paperweight.  Very very frustrating.  I'm a big Apple supporter, but I am concerned that Apple no longer is even focused on the OS X platform.

Hold down the option key and select the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar. What values are shown for the following?
              PHY Mode
              Channel
              Security
              Signal/Noise or RSSI
              Transmit Rate
Please do not post the BSSID, as that information is private.
Now hold down the option key again and select

Compare the two-letter Country Code with the ISO code for your country. Does it match? The code X0 means that the country couldn't be determined. The code X3 means South America, not otherwise specified.

  • Safari and Other web browsers cannot open websites even connected to the internet

Im getting crazy trying to fix my Macbook! I cannot open any websites aside from Facebook! This is crazy! I don't know what I did but it used to be working perfectly fine. Please somebody help me! I have tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache but nothing worked. Same with Google Chrome. Any tips on how to fix this?

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    Then restart the iPad.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears.  Slide to power off.  After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.

  • ITunes is extremely slow and I cannot make a secure connection

When I connect to iTunes my computer is extremely slow, and when I try to connect to the iTunes store I get the error message cannot make a secure connection.  I have internet access and I have ran the iTunes diagnostics test and all the tests passed except making a secure connection.  I have disabled all of my security systems including my firewall and Norton.  I am not running any proxy settings.  This has been an ongoing problem for over a month and I am at a loss.

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows)
Configure Internet Options (for Windows computers only):
Run iTunes Diagnostics. If the "Secure link to iTunes Store" section does not pass, do the following.
    Open Internet Explorer.
From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
    Click Connections.
Under "Dial-up and Virtual Private Networking," choose "Never dial  a connection." It may not be possible to choose this if you’ve never used  dial-up Internet; if this is the case, skip to the next step.
    Click LAN Settings.
In the window that opens, enable the option to "Automatically detect  settings" if it is not enabled.
iTunes uses Internet Options proxy settings. Apple recommends  removing proxy settings that interfere with access to the iTunes Store  if needed.
    Click OK.
    Click the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Security section and look for the option to "Check for server certificate revocation." If it is enabled, disable it.
Look for Use SSL 3.0 and Use TLS 1.0. Make sure at least one of  those two checkboxes is selected and click OK (You can select both checkboxes).
Apply any changes, and restart your computer if you modified the option to "Check for server certificate revocation" (step #11).

This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)
(PS Everybody please make noise on this one so apple comes up with a solution.)

  • Cannot Browse when Connected to iPhone Personal Hotspot

    Hi there
I don't know for certain that the two events are linked but since I updated Lion on my 11" MBA to 10.7.2 and my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, I cannot browse the web on my MBA using the iPhone as a personal hotspot (cellular data).
I am connecting to my iPhone's network via Bluetooth.  The network provider is O2 and I have a contract which permits tethering.
The Bluetooth network connection appears to complete successfully (see below) but when I try to browse the web, nothing loads.
FWIW, Chrome eventually returns a DNS lookup failure (see below).  Safari just hangs whilst trying to load the requested page - I haven't waited for it to time out (assuming it does).
I have no such problems browsing the web (or downloading emails) on my iPad (1st gen; also running iOS 5) when it is tethered to my iPhone in the same way, the MBA/iPhone connection worked before the updates and browsing is fine when the MBA connected to the 'net via wi-fi.
Any ideas as to how I can resolve this?
    John

I have an update to this problem.
If I first connect to the iPhone's network using my iPad then subsequently connect my MBA to the network (I did this whilst the iPad was still connected to the iPhone), browsing works!
If I then disconnect both devices and reconnect just the MBA, I am back to square one - browsing doesn't work.
I have now posted this question in the Lion community too as I'm starting to think that this is more of a software issue.

Try this it worked for me Pat Willener gave it to me off the site :
I have not read all you wrote, so I may have missed some points. As I understand it, you installed FP 10 on IE7, but it won't play any Flash content?
    Try this
download the FP uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
close all browser windows, then run the uninstaller
download the offline ActivX installer for Internet Explorer from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
close all browser windows, then run the installer

  • WRT54G3G-ST - Connection is up but I cannot browse

I have a WRT54G3G-ST with a PX-500 Sprint Aircard. If the connection is left idle for 6 - 10 hours it stays connected but I cannot browse or ping outside my local network, basically I cannot browse the Internet at all. The connection says it is connected. If I ping a valid Internet address from a command prompt or the router it fails. If I reboot or powercycle the router everything works fine. Anyone else seeing this?

I believe this is happening to me.   Just started a few days ago.   If I rebooted and/or powered down the equipment, usually the signal would return.   I am a router newbie.   how do I reflashing the router's firmware?    What is so weird with this is that I can not surf the new with firefox or internet explorer, but I can send and receive emails though outlook on my personal PC.   On my work laptop, if I am not logged in through the VPN, I can not surf the net.   If I am logged in through my VPN for work, I can access the internet.    So instructions would be helpful or reference to a published doc.
Also, does anyone know how to change your email address on this board?  for the life of me, I can not find a place to do that.
    Thanks!

    Hello JD_NINJA,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Usually this error occurs when trying to downgrade the iOS or in a previously jailbroken phone.  In this case, you cannot get help here.  The internet and Google are your best friends.

  • "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed" problem SOLVED

    Hi All,
I had been getting a the dreaded "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the
server failed" error on my first generation iPhone (firmware version 2.1) when syncing e-mail with an Exchange server. After many troubleshooting steps I found the problem was the size of the inbox (9K messages). After archiving older messages into folders the iPhone could again sync.
    I hope the helps others.

A hidden fix for this is in active directory, under the persons 'advanced' security permissions. You must 'check' the "include inheritable permissions..." at the bottom of the window.
In Active Directory Users and Computers (be sure that View > Advanced Features is on) , you go into the user account that is having the problem (yours in this case), and right click, Properties.
Once you’re in the user account properties, click the Security tab, then the Advanced button. “Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent” needs to be checked. This means top-level permissions from the Exchange server itself are able to propagate down to user account settings.
We found this out using the Exchange remote connectivity analyzer at https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com which is a great site (owned by Microsoft) for troubleshooting all sorts of problems with remote Exchange access.

  • Lumia Has Big problem - Cannot Connect To Win XP V...

I was planning to Buy Nokia Lumia 1020, as I am a Fan of Nokia at present I have Nokia C7, I got a few friends phones Lumia 720, it does not connect to XP via Bluetooth, which means I cannot send SMS even using MS SMS sender, as Lumia is not Compatible with Nokia Suite, which is a shame, they could have easily made this software like Nokia Suite for Lumia. I did suggest to Nokia CEO Mr. Stephen Elop, he just replyed " Thanks For The Suggestion" Hope he takes this suggestion seriously, there are many symbian users like me waiting to upgrade to better phones and are stuck, to want of this Nokia Suite Like software for Lumia !!!

Windows security is broken up into two parts. Local permissions, and net permissions. You must set both in order to allow access. Simply setting up the share doesn't grant the user access to it.
You must define the share on the Share tab, and then go to the 'Security' tab and add whatever account the user will be using to access the folder and its associated files.
Make sure that the files in whatever folder your sharing pick up the inheritence of the parent folder permissions by checking the security on a few files in the folder and verify that the parent folder permissions match the file permissions. I've had instances where inheritence doesn't apply properly and the files in the folder don't have the permissions you set on the parent folder.

  • I have just purchased an Apple Magic Trackpad. I connected it to my Macbook to test it. Fine. But I want to use it with my IMac - and my IMac cannot discover it - even though it is turned on and the batteries are 100%. Why?

Remove it from the Macbook first. BT devices may only be connected to one thing at a time.
