Extremely long load times for Cisco's WEBEX.
Thanks
My company attends numerous meetings with our customers/suppliers and WEBEX is giving me headaches. 5-15 minute load times. Conference room PC is running win7 and I've tried both google chrome's webex app and just running webex from IE to no avail. These connections do go through eventually but I'm constantly hounded about why they are taking so long and I don't know why. Have any of you experienced this or have any clue as to a possible root cause?

Extremely long display times for HTML in mail and Safari
Is anyone else experiencing similar lags in HTML rendering?
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I am experiencing extremely long render times for display HTML email messages in mail. I am also experiencing extremely long render times in Safari. I have Chrome installed on this same computer, if I goto the same website on Chrome and Safari, Chrome displays the page immediatly, Safari will take between 30sec and 1 minute. The only way it can get fixed is if you report it to Adobe. Posting it here may not be sufficient. There is an Acrobat feature request forum here and a bug report form here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

Long loading times for Safari on iPad Air with iOS8
I've had long loading times in Safari sInce upgrading to iOS8 on my iPad Air 128 GB. Are any of you having the same experience?
Sometimes I question myself, how come that iOS being held in beta for over quarter or even over a half a year, and most certainly long enough in alpha, still comes out so much raw and buggy every release? Sometimes it feels like it's only getting worse concerning the debugging.
I wanted to address the HR manager of the Apple Inc. to query him/her about HIS/HER dedication to the overall work being done. Why, the ****, does Safari get slow, why, the ****, is it unpredictable to define whether a sound stream in Safari's tab will end upon tab closure or not. Morever, why do iPhone iMessages fail to mark a message or a chain as a read one even thought you just really did it. Beyond that miriad of similar questions I have just another three, since when is it official Apple support position to advise you to wipe out your device and install everything back from iTunes, not the cloud? But what is more important, how come that support representative tells you first to back up your buggy iPad, wipe it out and restore from that backup both with iTunes? Finally, we all know how Apple does cherish it's developers, can somebody tell me how, for heavens sake, this website ever possible to exist then — Texts From Xcode?
I don't want neither need to mention that switching between tabs in iOS7 (I have had no chance to test it in iOS8) in Safari never gave you any sure answer whether your tab will be reloaded when you get back or not: whether have you copy any post before leaving, to paste back on return or not.
After all I do still love Apple, I do love people's ideas. I do love the overall outcome, but I want to tell Mr. Cook one phrase I heard when I used to be a head of a department in a medium size company and had to deal with continuous fails of the personnel and most often ended up doing much things myself, it was not the exact situation as with Apple although I hope you can trace a path: If a manager has to do anything besides managing he or she failed to manage one major issue — the personnel one. -
Long load times for large video tracks
Is there a recommended file size to stay under for video tracks in iTuens U? I know the hard limit is 500Mb per upload, but it seems as though any file that is more than about 10 minutes in length takes upwards of 10 minutes or longer to load. A short video (under 5 minutes) will load immediately. Is iTunes content not really streamed?
No, it is not streamed. But iTunes U isn't setup to be a streaming service. If you sniff packets (I didn't want to, but our security guy made me because of a local issue ... long story), you'll see that content is grabbed by way-of-an HTTP GET. There is a certain sense to that ... iTunes and iTunes U are, effectively, aggregators of content. You can get iTunes U to stream ... sort of ... but it is not a true streaming service (and, in fairness, it wasn't designed to be).
There is a trick you can play with encoding ... I don't have my notes with me (someone will remember) ... wherein you can ask that content be encoded to play as quickly as possible ... "instant on". There are a couple of apps, I believe, that help automate the process. It is not the same as streaming, but is helpful in situations in which you want a streaming effect. -
Extreme long replication time for product catalogue to ISA
In desperate need of help! We are replicating the product catalogue to ISA from a CRM 5.0. Now the replication have been running for 114 000 seconds and it is still not done. Besides the time it takes the process fills the paging file, we had a dump before and changed the parameter rdisp/PG_MAXFS = 65536 But once again after above given time the paging file is filled to 99% and the system will almost certain dump on us once more.
This is only the first of 10 catalogues that will be replicated so u sees the challenge!
Have searched sap notes for many hours without success
Some facts, we are running on HP-UX 4640 (Itanium) with 4 CPUs and 32 GB RAM, plenty of disk. NW2004s with an CRM 5.0 SP10, the TREX is on a Linux machine but does not seams to be the problem.
Anyone have an idea?

Qt won't play .mpg - long load time for .wmv
2 questions about qt:
1) why won't qt play .mpg files when VLC plays them with no problems?
2) why does it take sooooo long for qt to load a .wmv file (I assume it's using flip4mac) when VLC loads it almost instantaneously?
thanks.
btw, using latest version of qt (10.0) on the latest version of Mac OSX (10.6.7)1) why won't qt play .mpg files when VLC plays them with no problems?
While the MPG file extension is normally associated with multiplexed MPEG-1 video content on a Mac, this is not true for other platform users. For instance, the file may alternately contain anything from a simple MP3 audio stream to multiplexed MPEG-2 video or even AVCHD with AC3 audio. So in order to answer your question specifically, you need to tell us what specific form of compressed data is contained within the file. Basically, VLC provides its own built-in codec support which does not rely on your Mac component configuration while basic Mac support is limited to "playback only" compatibility of "muxed" MPEG-1 video with layer layer 1 or layer 2 audio unless you purchase/install specific additional component support like the Apple MPEG-2 Playback video only component and even then you would have to use a secondary application like MPEG Streamclip to to handle/bridge the synchronization of several audio formats.
2) why does it take sooooo long for qt to load a .wmv file (I assume it's using flip4mac) when VLC loads it almost instantaneously?
VLC plays the WMV data directly "on the fly" while the Flip4Mac component must read the entire file and cache the partially decoded data for direct playback by the QT player. You can avoid this delay by simply saving the partially expanded file data to an MOV file container using the "Save/Save As..." option. The resulting MOV file, however, will be much larger than the original WMV file. -
Extremely long hold time for Customer Service
First couple of times I called for help, I got an answer within 15 minutes. Last couple of times it was close to 90 minutes. Today, I have been on hold for almost 2 hours! This is ridiculous from a company as good as Adobe. If I didn't have an open case which was pending Adobe response, I would hang up again and try back. CS is suffering lately and I'm very dissappointed.
I don't appreciate the apparent cut in CS personnel stateside and subsequent outsourcing to India and other foriegn sites.
Tossing in the towel - I cannot afford to hold this long. It's been over 2.5 hours. This kind of wait time is unforgiveable. You're not alone. Adobe apologized for the recent downward trend in support this week in a press release and on the website. Is the issue something technical that we can help with here?
Here's the text of the release:
Open Letter to Adobe Customers
Adobe is committed to providing the most advanced, innovative products and services in the world. Recently, however, our customers have experienced a level of service that is inconsistent with what they expect and deserve. This is unacceptable and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. We are working diligently — in fact, teams are working around the clock — to resolve these issues. I'd like to thank all our customers who are sharing feedback and giving us the opportunity to respond. We appreciate your loyalty, support, and willingness to make your concerns heard.
Adobe is in the process of transitioning to a new global service provider that will help grow and improve the quality of our customer service worldwide. While our new partner is a recognized leader in service and support solutions, this is a major global transition that includes bringing more than 800 new agents onboard. Clearly this process has not gone as smoothly as we had planned, and we are working to immediately remedy the situation. We are confident that once this transition is completed, we will provide customers with new and better ways to engage with Adobe using their preferred methods, helping to ensure prompt, effective customer service.
The Adobe Customer Care leadership team is monitoring our customers' experiences closely to understand and respond to the challenges you are encountering. If you experience difficulties of any kind, contacting Customer Service in your local region remains the best initial course of action; however, during this transition period, unresolved issues can also be directed to [email protected].
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this transition and work to improve our service and support operations for customers around the world.
Regards,
Lambert Walsh

How can we improve the (extremely) long loading time of our clickable PDF?
This week the designer of our provincial government delivered a nice clickable PDF. The file wil be loaded on a webpage and the link of that page will be send by email to a stakeholder group. The PDF-file was made in Acrobat X Pro 10.1.3
When testing we discovered major problems when loading the pages of the 3 Mb PDF-file. Depending on the platform uses this can take minutes if is loads at all. Apart from that funny things happen...
Test 1 - Laptop / Windows 7 / Explorer > PDF doesn't open
Test 2 - Laptop / Windows 7 / Chrome > buttons in PDF don't work
Test 2a - Laptop / Windows 7 / Chrome again > the first page of the file opens, but with a blue haze
Test 3 - Desktop PC / Windows 7 / Explorer > PDF works fine
Test 4 - Desktop PC / Windows 7 / Chrome > buttons in PDF don't work
Test 4a - Desktop PC / Windows 7 / Chrome again > the first page of the file opens, but with a blue haze
Test 5 - Desktop PC / Windows Vista / Explorer > no loading issue, but Explorer crashes when using the PDF
Test 6 - Unknown tablet PC / Android > PDF works fine
Test 7 - iPad 3 tablet PC / Apple OS / Acrobat > buttons in PDF don't work
So the results are quite alarming. What can we do to guarantee our policy makers a succesful publication next monday?
We appreciate any suggestion.
Maarten van VlietChome, by default, renders PDF files using its own plugin - and that doesn't support as many features as Adobe Reader does.
iOS won't support any interactive elements that use scripting due to the limitations imposed by Apple.
Without seeing the PDF it's hard to say why it's crashing on test 5, as 'clickable' could mean anything. If the stakeholder group have Adobe Reader X installed and are running on a desktop then there shouldn't any problem even with the most complex PDF, but if the PDF uses features specific to the current version and they have an old copy of Reader or a third-party PDF display application, some things won't work properly. You can persuade them to upgrade by adding a note to the document or the website it's served from, but you can't force them to do it, nor can your webserver detect if they have a suitable application installed or not. The PDF file can, but only if it gets as far as opening. -
Has anyone had extremely long download times for music, like an hour for a single song?
Has anyone had extremely slow downloads of songs, like an hour?
UPDATE
It appears that though the progress bar looks stuck on "Step 1: Gathering info..." that Match is going through my library and adding "Purchased" songs first. I have 2,000+ purchased songs and after enabling Match on my laptop I currently have 1152 songs available to me in the cloud. SO, I am happy to report that it appears to be functioning, just happening way slower than I anticipated. As Michael posted above..patience is definitely a virtue in this case! It's been way over 12 hours, but again, happy to report it is working. -
Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.

Extremely long build times using object oriented code
We have a LabVIEW application that we need to build an .exe for distrubution purposes. The application relies on several object-oriented classes for data handling and dynamic dispatch type casting and function selection. Currently it takes approximately 1.5 hours to build the application and it seems that most of the time is spent processing the object oriented files. Has anyone else seen this issue and are there any creative ways to improve the build times?
Hi again. We are still having issues using LVOOP due to extrmely long .exe build times as well as long labview loading times. I traced the source of this to one class hierarchy, shown below. This hierarchy also relies heavily on overriding top-level functions, declared as virtual VIs in the top level class, which I suspect contributes to this problem. While debugging another issue, I was trying to build a small piece of my main code into an .exe to verify its functionality and experienced the same extremely long build times. When I removed this class hierarchy from the VI, it built extremely fast. Also to be clear, I am using neither the mean function or Mean.vi anywhere in this set of code. To date we have been delighted with LVOOP and how it has made our code cleaner, mroe robust, and more maintanable. However, when creating new functionality in the code we often elect NOT to create new objects (even though they would be beneficial) because we are hesitant to introduce the extra time (load and build) required for LabVIEW to handle these classes. If our entire system was rewritten in LVOOP, I would suspect that it would become unmaintainable and unbuildable due to the LVOOP overhead. I was hoping that LV2009 would address some of these issues but, alas, it did not. Still looking for a way to improve this and thanks in advance for all of the replies.

Long loading time if no internet connection available (VS 2005 Redist)
Hallo forum members!
I've been searching for a solution for my problem for a while - without success. It isn't really a critical issue, but quite annoying anyways.
Here's the problem i'm dealing with: I've developed an .NET application using Visual Studio 2005 and the included Crystal Report classes. When deploying my module everything works as expected, offering a decent performance when loading the Crystal Report assemblies provided by the redistributable package - if an internet connection is available. If the system doesn't offer such a connection (e.g. not properly configured proxy settings) the module takes a huge amount of time to be loaded. An examination (using ProcMon) leaded to the conclusion that the Crystal Report assemblies try to retrieve the system connection settings from the registry in order to establish a connection to the internet. This is done only once when loading for the first time.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? What is this connection used for? Is there a way to suppress this behaviour on systems without a valid internet connection in order to avoid this annoying long loading time?
Thanks on advance for your help.
Greetings,
L.F.Nothing like a good vacation. And I got your christmas present early :). While you were away we (actually one other customer) figured it out. I have written a note re. the resolution that was supposed to be published yesterday, but it's still not out there, so here it is as I submitted it:
Symptom
When a report is loaded is takes between 150 - 180 seconds to display
This is only reproducible on computers with no internet connection
There are no error messages and the report comes up eventually
Reproducing the Issue
Create a Windows application with the following function calls:
new Report()
report.SetDataSource(dataSet)
The function SetDataSource takes 2 plus minutes to execute
Cause
On SetDataSource() an attempt is made to connect to crl.verisign.com
SetDataSource() uses the framework and as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base specified under "Resolution", it is actually the framework that is attempting the connection
Resolution
Solution is described in this Microsoft Knowlege Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707
The following Microsoft article also discusses the issue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629393.aspx
An alternative workaround to the above is as follows:
Open IE and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
Go to the Advanced tab
Find the Security heading
Under the Security heading find "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
Uncheck this option
Keywords
long time load crl.verisign.com certificate revoked internet
The note will be published here:

and the number will be 1270414

I recently upgraded to 10.6.7 and Safari 5.05. Safari now has a long load time when you initially boot it up and when selecting a new tab. Other than that it works fine. What can I do ?
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

Extremely long "reading" times in media browser
We are running CC2014 on 3 edit systems with a shared 10Gbit 36TB Synology NAS. Each workstation has approximately 12TB of local raid storage as well. We shoot P2 primarily and I have a little over 17TB archived on the Synology. Lately, we have had extremely long "reading" times in Media Browser on all the machines. I don't quite understand how Premiere is indexing and displaying as sometimes the "reading" time is relatively quick, ie. under 10 seconds and then other times it can take 3-5 minutes to display clips within a directory.
My Directory Structure is:
Media
P2 footage
(P2 folders/ie. cards are all saved with their shoot dates here)
Our total archive of P2 footage is around 70 cards.
It appears that when Media Browser is pointed to a P2 Card folder it is indexing the entire "P2 footage directory, ie. all 70 cards", rather than just the individual folder containing 1 P2 card's footage. Ist this the case?
Would I get better read speeds in Media Browser if I organized my P2 footage into more directories, ie. by year and quarter or by year and month?
Really need to know how the indexing works. Does premiere cache preview files for each clip and if so, how long are these previews valid. It seems that when I media browse a new P2 Card/Folder, it has forgotten any previous preview files that have been made and cached.
Any explanation or help would be appreciated.
We have copied large numbers of cards/folders from the Synology to our local raids to see if the latency was due to the network but the results are the same when we media browse on the local raid copies. We are working on this issue. Could you open a support case and submit your
project so we can have support see if it is fixed in a later release?

Is there some validation options that can be turned off or other actions to speed this up?

Increase in Loading time for LV search in 2011
Initially when I loaded LV2011 my quick drop and the search took nearly 5 seconds but now it takes nearly 20 seconds to load so is there any reason for this kind of performance. Also I don't have anyother big software loaded or running in my PC. I have added few toolkits from VI package manager may be that is the reason?.

In my message in the other thread, I commented that I thought 20 seconds wasn't all that long. But I thought you were commenting on the loading time for LabVIEW itself. That does seem like a long time for any of the internal LabVIEW dialogs to come up.
(Actually, I find several internal dialogs seem to take longer to load the first time then they should including the properties dialog. But not 20 seconds long.)
Hopefully, with this message thread in the LabVIEW forum, others can comment and offer suggestions on how to determine what the issue your having is.
Yes now I have plenty of toolkits ( Thanks for spotting me in the other thread )
Jeff you hit the bullseye. The loading was set as Load palette when needed.
Thanks
