  • Loud distorted noise when using STP Noise Reduction

    Another very strange STP glitch.
When using Noise Reduction, I set the noise print. Then open the Noise Reduction dialog (or HUD, I guess). The first time I play the mono audio file I'm editing, sound comes out of the left speaker at perhaps slightly reduced volume. Stop playback. Then hit the Play button again (still in the Noise Reduction dialog). Playback is now INCREDIBLY LOUD AND DISTORTED. So loud that it probably damaged my speakers (not to mention making me jump out of my chair). Thinking there was a problem with the file, I recorded some audio (again a single mono track). Same result. Deleted all the plists I could think that might be involved. No luck.
Next, I actually went to a different computer - my G5 2.0 GHz DP. Same result, so I am completely puzzled on this one. Any ideas.
Both machines were running STP v 2.02. The original problem was discovered on a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz. Both have 4GB RAM and are running Mac OS X 10.5.1.

APPLE!!! FIX THIS!!!!!! IT IS PHYSICALLY DAMAGING TO THE USER. COULD EASILY BLOW SOMEONE'S HEARING.
I just went to play a preview of the file while adjusting the settings in reduce noise print WITH HEADPHONES ON! I was attempting to take out a very loud running generator in the background of an interview and nearly blew my hearing in my left ear. I threw the headphones across the room. Painful to say the least. My sound was only on the first notch and the result was louder than I can get my headphones to play with the volume all the way up.
JamesGray, if you file a lawsuit, let me know, no joke. This is a dangerous and irresponsible game Apple is playing with their professional user's hearing, and therefore their livelihood and quality of life.

  • XP startup sound loud and distorted when EQ is enab

I have a Soundblaster Li've! 24-bit card and, when I enable the equalizer, my Windows XP startup wav is super loud and distorted, but everything else sounds fine. Turn the eq off and the startup sound is normal again.

Hmm, enable your EQ, but in the mixer for volume turn it down a notch and also turn the wave volume down a notch as well. If you have it at 00% you can get distortion. Set Main Volume and Wave volume to about 90 % and see if that hel

I recently repaired disk permissions on my mac HD and now my on-board speakers wont work, the icon is greyed out and only works when my headphones are plugged in

Try to put your headphones several times in and out from your connection, might be the switch is stuck. Normally it should work again while trying to plug the headphones in and out!

You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you.

  • Noise when using headphones with new Lumia 630

I've got a new Lumia 630 today and when I tried to use headphones with it at first phone did not recognize them ( I still have to reconnect them sometimes) but the main problem is a hiss noise when phone produces sounds. It could be music, video or keyboard clicks, whatever. I can hear it even when loudness of music player is set to 0. Is it known issue? Or is it problem with my phone? I tried another headphones and have the same problem, maybe a less noise.
Sorry for my English. Need your help!

    Hi wtfwithmyphone,
    Welcome to the forum!
Does it only happen when using the phone with headsets? Do you also hear this noise when the audio is played via loudspeaker? What are the models of the headsets that you tried with your Nokia Lumia 630?
Note that the Nokia Lumia 630 supports headsets that have American Headset Jack (AHJ) ports. Using other types of headsets may cause performance issues, like background noise and audio quality distortion. This link will show you some of the headset models supported by the Lumia 630: Accessories for Lumia 630 - Headsets.

  • HF-300 Sound Quality - Loudness and Distortion

    Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has any comparative testing on the sound quality and loudness with this unit. I am not sure if mine is faulty or just the best that can be expected from the speakerphone.
Problem is (tested using n95 8 gig and n80) that once the volume is turned up to 70% or more the units sound is distoted terribly. Sounds like the speaker is vibrating and crackling. The symptom is like when you turn up the volume on any speaker beyond its capability which then gets that distortion/vibration effect.
That said when used below 70% volume its too soft to be useable for everyday driving conversations.
Golden question if you own the HF-300 also is can you put it on 100% volume and have loud and clear sound without any negative sound quality? May help if you mention what phone model you have tested youyr with also.
I really think it must be a fault as everything marketed and reviewd about these units states 'loud n clear'. Surely its meant to be used on 100% also without such distortion or why have 100% volume possible.

Sorry to ask again but is the car kit installed with an additional single Nokia speaker or is all audio played through the car audio system (original car speakers)?
Most likely in the second case is that the installer has routed the audio incorrectly.
The kit has two outputs: stereo for music and mono for calls. Mono calls can be installed to run through the single Nokia speaker but musics should be installed to run throught the car stereo 'aux in' channel, hence the question about what audio is distorted.

  • Loud electronic screeching noise when ejecting CD

I was copying CDs to iTunes using the "Import Songs and Eject" feature (iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Importing, set "On CD insert" to "Import Songs and Eject"). When ejecting the drive occasionally makes a loud electronic screeching noise. Is there something wrong with my drive or is this normal?
    Thanks in advance,

MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5)
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Are you sure it is electronic? I looked at my MBP and it seems like the flaps they have covering the drive are just a little too long and rigid and make a screeching sound when ejecting a disc.
I would pop in a disk, without using iTunes, and then eject it and listen to if the noise is coming from the flap on the drive or somewhere else.

  • Sound too loud and distorted from capture

It seems that for some reason when I capture video from my Sony PD170 DV camera, that the sound captured is way too loud on the timeline, even though it reads acceptable on the waveforms and the green lights that go up and down.
My last capture an hour ago, from the timeline, the sound was crakely listening through the computer speaker and headphones. I then listened through headphones directly from the original tape in the camera and it sounded ok.
Any suggestions? A problem with the compouter or a setting I need to adjust in FCP for capturing video?
At System Preferences/Sound the input volume is at half set from the internal mic.

I tried a capture from a friends camera and FCP system. Same problem on time line. Random pencil thin blank spots on the audio wave form. So it must be on the tape. Maybe bad tape, electronic interference in recording room or some camera problem recording. Used two separate wireless lavs. Drop-out in exactly same place on both channels could rule out room interference because of different frequency lavs.
I did short analogue test copy from PD170 to Trv-900 and it eliminated the drop-out. So I am now making full copy to substitute in time line.
I also think that the sound coming in with the capture is too loud and that's the possible problem, but can't figure how to change the level on a capture. Even though the waveform and meter after capture look ok, it still seems pretty loud. The audio control in the Log And Capture/Clip Settings is greyed out at 1.

  • Extremely loud and damaging audio peaks while scrubbing through busy sequences (health hazard)

    Hi,
I am editing in Premiere Pro CC (2013) and I have repeatedly experienced the problem while scrubbing through a busy sequence where a very short audio sample (milliseconds) will blast through my speakers damaging my speakers and my ears. It normally occurs while I am quickly navigating between parts of my sequence that have multiple audio layers which leads me to believe it is an audio rendering issue. The audio sample that plays is extremely loud (many times louder than the media in the sequence) and causes me pain, being a full time editor this is extremely damaging to my hearing. I need to have audio scrubbing enabled whilst editing and I am hoping for a workaround to stop this problem whilst keeping audio scrubbing enabled.
    My system:
Audio playback set to built in output (I use headphones)
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB (Cuda enabled)
    OS X 10.9.4

7.2.2 is the last release of CC7. And as I already noted it contains the fix I was referring to, which apparently doesn't resolve the issue you're encountering. If you started this project in an earlier release of CC7, it's possible that it is the same bug and, though fixed in your current build, it's continuing to present itself because it's basically saved to the audio preview files. In that case, clearing the audio preview files would get you free and clear of the bug.
Note, by the way, that 7.2.2 is not the current version. CC2014 was released in June of this year, followed by 2014.0.1 in July.

  • My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) keeps freezing, the fan becomes extremely loud and the laptop gets very hot, what can I do?

    Hi there,
I would be grateful if any one could help me. I purchased my MacBook Pro  13 Inch in August 2011, it was the "Early 2011" version, which was shipped with Lion (I have now upgraded it to Mountain Lion last year).
Up until a few weeks ago, it was running fine. But recently my MacBook keeps freezing (A circular rainbow appears on the cursor), slowing down, the fan gets very loud and I often have to restart the whole machine. This usually happens when I'm running programs such as Safari, Preview or Microsoft Word
I only use my MacBook for university work so I only have Microsoft Office and iWork installed, nothing else. I've only used 19gb out of the 320gb available. I've also reseted my MacBook to its factory settings but that hasn't fixed the problem.
I've checked my AppleCare status and it says:
    Repairs and Service Coverage: Active
Your product is covered for eligible hardware repairs and service under a custom agreement.
For more information about your coverage, please contact us.
Estimated Expiration Date: 24 August 2014
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to how I can resolve these problems, as it is stopping me from doing my work?
    Many thanks.

Call Apple and make a appointment, backup your use data off the machine to a external drive.
Don't bother with TimeMachine if it asks, too long and likley be corrupted and unable to restore, just drag and drop your Users folder to the external drive.

  • Loud background noise when using headphones with mic. iPhone 5

I usually use headphones with a microphone to make phone calls, and they used to work perfectly.  As soon as I got the iPhone5, I have had trouble.  The person I'm talking to can hear every tiny background noise louder than my voice.  In fact, they complain that it sounds like glass breaking or the ocean or loud rain.  Today, someone about 20 feet away pulled up the window blinds and my caller said it hurt her ears.
I've tried a couple different sets of headphones and have the same problem.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I have the same problem. I have tried 3 different sets of headphones and have had my iPhone replaced. The problem persisits. I am a Version customer in central Wisconsin.
The headphones are unuseable while making a phone call in a atmosphere where there is any background noise.
I have been on the phone for hours with Apple. Problem persists.

  • Macbook Pro making loud and weird noise

Okay, so I was just watching some videos on youtube and I fell asleep. Even the battery drained to zero% and hibernated. Then after around 7 hours when I woke up, and turned it on again then it started to make really weird noise from inside like hmmm I couldnt figure what was the problem, either the speakers? Fan? Hard-disk? Superdrive?
Then I turned it off and turned on again. It was quiet for a moment until the log in window appeared and started to making same noise again. Then I cleared PVRAM or something holding down Command+Option+P+R and Power Button then it is kinda fine now but still loud enough to bother people.
It seems like some wire or hmm something is stuck inside some moving part inside it but I am not sure. I just keep my Macbook Pro on the table all the time as a desktop I have never had such problem before.
Help please? What do I need to do? It's a

You said at the start that the battery discharged completely...did you plug the MBP in and recharge?  Does the MagSafe show it is charging or running on AC?
Does the noise sound lik a clicking, sound the hard drive stepping motor makes?  Or is it more of a hum, or a grating sound?  If the latter it could be a fault with a fan or a bad bearing in the hard drive.
    How does it perform otherwise?
Might be a good candidate for a visit to the Apple genius bar and have the techs run some diagnostics.
