Extremely loud noise when starting

Sometimes when I start a song in logic it screams with an almost indescribale noise that can blow out your eardrums. It is obviously not part of the composition. Is there a name for this? And what can I do to prevent it?

  • ITunes 7.0.2 Extremely loud noise when you move files in Finder

I could find only one thread that was close to what I'm experiencing:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3122307
Every now and them, while listening to my iTunes music, when I drag and move a file/folder, a sudden extremely loud noise occurs. This noise almost sounds like a speaker distortion and goes away after 1-2 seconds. As soon as this noise goes away, the music being played in iTunes comes back.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
    Any input would be appreciated.

I think I may be experiencing something similar. This just started today. iTunes 7.1.1, get a random annoying noise that plays into the music. Best description I can give is the noise the comp makes when it can't complete whatever task you are trying to do via pushing or typing on the keyboard. You no, just that real quick "thump". It only lasts for a second and is completely at random. Only occurs when I am playing music on iTunes. Clueless...

  • Loud noise when skip to next song

Nano makes a loud noise when I switch to the next song. It happens with songs that I have lowered the volume on in iTunes. Is there a fix? Thanks.

You can't do that with iTunes. Believe me, I like that functionality, and I've tried. The closest thing is to have the mini player on top so you can click on the next track button with your mouse pointer.
There is a music player I like to use, however, that you CAN do it with. No pressure to use it though. It's called XMPlay and available free at un4seen.com. Reply again if you need me to walk you through that.

  • Loud noise when printing

print quality good but loud noise when printing. do printers need "oiling"?

    Hello @mikeed,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that your 7500A is being rather noisy.
    I would like to help.
Unfortunately, there is not way to 'grease up' the printers gears.
If the noise goes away when the product is on, and disconnected from the computer, there might be a connectivity problem. Use the following steps to isolate a connectivity issue with the computer.
    Shut down the computer.
    Turn off the product.
Disconnect the USB cable from the product.
    Wait 30 seconds.
    Turn on the product.
    Print a self test report
    Turn off the product.
Connect the product to a USB port on the computer.
    Turn on the computer.
After the computer finishes booting up, turn on the product.
If you still hear the sound, connect the product to a different USB port on the computer. Check the functionality of the product.
If you still hear the sound, connect the product to a new computer.
Check the functionality of the product.
If the sound continues and the product functions normally, the sound is a normal sound.
When the product prints, the rollers, gears, paper feed, and carriage makes noise.
When you print in the Fast or Draft modes, the product makes more noise than when you print in the Best or Normal modes.
    Check the following:
If the product did not print successfully, check for a paper jam.
Check that the product supports the paper you loaded.
Make sure the paper is loaded correctly, the trays are extended, and the paper guides are adjusted properly.
You can also try the following.
Remove and reinsert the cartridges to make sure that they are correctly installed in the unit.
    Perform a hard reset.
While teh printer is powered on, unplug the printers power cord.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the printer.

  • Loud noises when scrubbing

    Hi there,
I am getting really loud noises when scrubbing through the timeline. It only occurs when I have an mp3 underneath a series of other clips. Tgis has never been an issue until recently. I can mute the soundtrack to disable the noises, but this is not an ideal solution to work with. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Loud noise when iMovie is launched.

    Hello,
I've had my macbook for almost three weeks now and every-time i launch iMovie my Macbook makes a loud noise from the area where the CD drive is. It's done this since i first got it, so naturally i thought it was supposed to make that noise.
Only it doesn't sound to healthy and I'm starting to wonder if it's right.
The noise is hard to describe it's just a loud "fummm" noise that occurs when i launch iMovie and when i turn my computer on.
I am all up to date with my software update as well.
I was wondering if anyone else gets this noise? or what it could be?
    Thanks for your help
    Kate

    Hello Steve,
    Is this a known problem?
It is not a known problem with iSight. Here are a couple of things you should try.
First, try turning your speakers' volume off before sliding the button. Then turn you sound up gradually, and let us know if the problem still exists.
If you use an external microphone or speakers, you can also try disconnecting them to see wether they might be causing your problem.
Next, try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight. Be sure to include the checks to determine whether the problem is "application-specific" or "user-specific".
If I am correct that you have already tested both iMovie and Photo Booth, you were wise to test with more than one application. However, Photo Booth does not record sound, so that may be why you are not getting the noise with Photo Booth. Try some other applications that can record sound.
In addition to iMovie, any of the other video or movie clip applications from this list can record both video AND SOUND with your iSight. So can the apps linked in the "iSight as a surveillance or Nanny cam section of that page.
If you have it, QuickTime Pro is an easy one to use with your iSight.
Some clip recording applications, like Gcam, are free.
Others, like WebcamTweaker, offer free demos that you could use to test if they give better results than iMovie.
These tests will let you determine whether your problem is in your iSight itself or is an iMovie problem, and they may help you fix the problem while you are doing the checks.
Please let us know what fixes your problem.
If your problem remains after the tests, please post back what you tried and include any new info that your testing provides.
    Cheers,
    Jim

  • Cracking noise when starting up MacBook Pro

    Hey guys,
Today I noticed a strange problem concerning my MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012. When starting up, a strange crackling noise appears from I think around the left speaker. The noise appears before the white loading screen of OSX. After starting up, the machine works fine. Anyone got an idea where this is coming from and if I should take the machine to the Apple store?
    With kind regards,
    Jesse

  • Loud Noise When Recording, Portege M780

    Hello,
I just got my portege a few days ago. When recording a video using the toshiba recording program, there is a very loud noise together with my voice in the recorded video. Would anyone have experience with this issue? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply . I've removed the cover when doing both tests I mentioned. The earphone I used is at good condition and I don't see any problem with it. I've also reinstalled the iOS as your instruction, but still no luck, the video sound still has noise.
I've decided to export the video file to my PC to see if I can hear sound better or not, as it's hard to hear and sound except noise with the external speaker on my iPhone even at maximum volume. On my PC I had to increased playback volume to 100%, set volume booster to 300% and applied noise reduction plugin (I use Media Player Classic on Windows 7) to get an acceptable sound (still noise but better than the original). If I don't boost the volume, it's hard to hear anything. I don't expect it to be crystal clear like the voice memo (using the bottom mic), but too much noise like this is really bad.
So I think it appears to be a hardware-related problem. I will later consider to send it to a phone repair shop or keep it and accept this bad video sound problem . In Vietnam we just have Apple authorized resellers but don't have any official Apple repair shops, that's why I'm still confused as I don't really trust those phone repair shops to handle my iPhone. Anyway, thanks again for your comment .
P.S: it maybe a little off-topic, but do you know any video recording app that using the bottom mic ?

  • Loud noise when burning CD and will not burn DVD

I bought an iMac a week ago and have been trying to burn DVDs - from finder, toast, popcorn and i have tried different brand DVDs and +R & -R all to no avail. i get a error message everytime.
I can burn CDs, but it makes a really loud whirring sound (i mean unhealthy loud) throughout the whole burn process and then for a few minutes afterwards.
Has anyone else experienced these problems? It doesn't sound normal.

It's probably a media problem. I had a 100 pack of Verbatim CD's that vibrated and made a loud noise in mine. Like it was out of balance. They worked fine in other burners.
If another brand does the same thing, then I'd be concerned.

  • Loud Noise when burning CD?

My pro was purchased in January 2010, and I am wondering if it is normal to have a very loud noise while burning a cd? I just don't remember such a loud noise - humming/vibration type of sound before.
    Thanks for any feedback

  • My superdrive makes a loud noise when i start up my new macbook pro 15" that i just got about a month ago, is there any way how to fix it or should i take it in to an apple store

Just got a brand new macbook pro, and eve since I first started it up it has made this weird noise right before the start up audio. i have done some research and i have found out that there are two superdrives that apple puts into their macbooks and that one is louder then the other, but this was back in 2009. should apple have fixed that through out all these years. what should i do?

Yes, it makes this noise, but only on startup.  It is normal to hear this noise during startup.  My mac is an early 2011 model.

  • Fan starts to make loud noise when watching youtube videos

Hello there, I have been having a problem with my Macbook Pro for a while and I hope I can find some help here. My Macbook Pro has the problem that when I am watching youtube videos and I have the fullscreen option on, if the video is lasts, say more then 4 min or so, then after a while the fans start to kick in and they keep getting louder and louder for no reason.
It also does this sometimes when I open the spotlight to search for something, although that hasnt happened as much lately. But this is really getting annoying, I mean, why would a simple video from youtube, make the mac go all crazy as if I was rendering or exporting video, its nuts. I have all the updates installed too.
I also went to an Apple store, and of course when I try to show the person the issue I have, the macbook pro works just fine! Its somewhat random. I told the guy that I have Applecare and if they could just hold onto the machine and test it out themselfs and the guy tells me, that I have to pay THEM for this service if they dont find anything. What the? Is it my fault if the issue doesnt come up during their suposed testing time? What if they just dont do anything to it, and then say they dont find anything, and im suposed to pay for this even though I have Applecare? There must be something wrong.
Anyway, I really appreciate any help and guidance I can get on this issue. Btw, my Macbook Pro is the second generation one, the one with Intel Duo Core 2, 2.33 ghz, 2 GB ram and the ATI video card. I also recently ran Disc Utility from the install disc and I repaired some issues on the HD, but its still the same.
Thank you for reading and (hopefully) responding to this topic.

Thank you for the replies. I have just downloaded the iStat Widget and I noticed that the fans were at about 2800-2900 rpm and the sound wasnt noticable, I then played a youtube video that lasts for 5 min, although already on the 1 min mark the fans were getting louder when running in full-screen mode. I then checked iStat and it peaked at around 5994 rpm. I then stopped the full screen viewing and it went back to 3000 rpm after a while, and now it seems to be locked at 2400 rpm.
What I dont get is, why is it that when I play videos from my hard drive and watch movies, even in full screen mode, it doesnt get near 5990 rpm at any point, at least I dont notice any loud fan sounds. Although that has happened when I watched a HD video from my desktop that lasted about 6 min, but the fans didnt go as loud as right now.
Also, a few days ago, I was playing a small flash game on the net, and I got the same problem with the fans as with the youtube videos. I read that youtube uses flash, is this right? Could there be something on this? I have downloaded the latest flash player version though, so I dont know whats going on.

  • My Macbook Pro makes a loud noise on start up?

    Macbook 13'' (2012) Model.
When i turn it on from start up, the CD drive makes two loud loading sort of noise?
Ive had this laptop for 4 months now, brought from the apple store Oct 2014.
    Any help is appreciate.
    Thanks.

    Good Afternoon Jonathan,
Check out the sound samples below to determine if the sounds you are hearing from the optical drive are normal or excessive.  Troubleshooting steps are included if needed.
Mac notebooks with optical drives: Noises from the optical drive - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201623
You may notice your optical disc drive makes various sounds even if a CD or DVD isn't in the drive. The noises you might hear from the optical drive are probably normal. There is a small motor in the drive that spins discs.
These are some examples of sounds you might hear from your optical disc drive (these recordings were taken very close to the optical drive--the equivalent of having your ear directly next to the drive):
Waking the computer from sleep (sample)
Burning a CD or DVD (sample)
    Inserting a disc (sample-1, sample-2)
    Ejecting a disc (sample-1, sample-2)
Importing ("ripping") an audio CD in iTunes (sample)
    Playing a DVD (sample)
Spinning up an idle disc (sample-1, sample-2)
The sample sounds may be similar to what you hear, but may not be an exact match. Different discs may make different noises in the drive. Not all discs can be read at the same speeds.
After listening to the example sounds, if you feel that your optical disc drive is making noises in excess of these examples during normal operation, please contact AppleCare for assistance.
For more information, see Mac Notebooks: Troubleshooting the slot-loading optical disc drive.
