Extremely slow DSL internet service

I live in the Stroudsburg PA service area and have been experiencing dowwnload speeds of 0.07mbps to 0.20mbps for over  weeks.I spoke with numerous technical support people with no correction of the problem. It is virtually impossible to get to anyone in management but, with persistance, they will connect you to a "supervisor". After numerous hours on the phone, refusing to accept their insistance that nothing was wrong, a lineman was dispatched on 2 occasions, He spent a total of over 8 hours over the two dates and confirmed there is a service issued in this service zone. I learned it was called a "catina" problem, but giving it a name does not help me.
The lineman contacted numerous other Verizon personnel and discussed the problem, including his supervisor, to no avail. This matter effects a large number of Verizon customers in the local area and remains unresolved. Despite this, I keep getting messages from Verizon telling me the problem is "fixed" THIS IS FALSE!.
I am paying for high speed DSL and am getting speeds that are slower than my old dial up modem from the early 1990s. I have tried to speak to anyone in a management position, or even email someone, but cannot. It appears that Verizon has no method to interact with their customers, only automated, generic replies.
I WANT THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR!!!!!

  • Slow DSL bad service

On Wednesday, I called verizon service with very slow speed on my DSL.  For an hour we were resetting the modem and disconnecting the line from the wall. I was instructed by the technicican to type in speed test on google and we went the website, speedtest.net.  I was un able to even download the test.
In spite of this, the tech tried to explain to me that should either upgrade to verison fios, and/or there was something wrong with my computer.
I did a speed test on my own at my.verizon.com the results were this
    .37, and  .27 - download
    .40, and .41 - upload
today, The speed is somewhat bwtter  I did the speed test again (at my.verizon.com). The results are  this
    .94 - download
    .37 - upload
The upload could be better, but the download shows a remarkable improvement
    My question is this,
Can " In-home Agent" or "Virtual Agent" go directly to someone who knows what he is doing?
does "In-home agent" work with DSL ?
Is there another way to speed up the process and get information to a real technician?
    Thank you

  • Airport Extreme slowing down internet connection to a crawl

    Hi,
    Can anyone explain this one?
Just this afternoon my internet connection slowed to a crawl. Pages would stall loading and I couldn't even collect emails. There was a connection there. A Google search might take a minute or so but anything else would barely flinch.
So I did a few restarts and complete power downs of all my peripherals, computers and network devices but no joy. I called my broadband provider who did a remote test of my cable modem and confirmed it was responding well.
So I removed the Airport Extreme from the network and connected directly to the modem. All was fine, in fact that is how I am working now. But when connecting the Airport Extreme back in I have this extremely slow connection. I have looked at both the Network preferences and Airport Setup Utility. Both claim the connection is good.
I also have an old G4 in another room. It was switched off during all the goings on this afternoon but I powered it up to see if the same problem persisted. Sure enough it does, as it is also connected via the AE. However, the local connection between computers is just fine.
So how do I resolve this? Why would the AE cause such an internet slowdown?
    Thanks,
    Colin

I've had similar symptoms on my network. Here are network details:
    Comcast is the ISP
I have an Extreme and an Express set up as a single wireless network.
Extreme is plugged in to the cable modem. Express is an extension of the Extreme.
Devices that are regularly "on network": Mac Mini (G4), MacBook, Mac Pro, 2 TiVO Series 2.
    All Macs are running 10.4.10.
Symptom: Over the course of 3-6 weeks, wireless access slows to a crawl for the Intel-based MacBook and MacPro, but not the PowerPC Mini. All web sites, email traffic, etc., for the Intel Macs becomes painful: CNN's home page loads in minutes, not seconds, for example. Unplugging and replugging the Express doesn't do anything. Powering off and on the Extreme resolves the issue. For now. There are no pending firmware updates for the Express or Extreme that I'm aware of.

I have a dsl internet conection with a download speed of .66 mbps.  I would like to watch netflix with a wireless conection to apple tv.  What is the required internet speed?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Netflix recommend a minimum connection speed of 0.5 Mbps, however at that speed many of the other features of the Apple TV will be painfully slow.

  • Airport Extreme Slow Ping (Internet) Response

I am having problems with my dual-band airport extreme.  When connecting to the external internet, I'm seeing high ping responses (>500ms) after about 5-10 minutes of resetting (hard reset) the Extreme and initially seeing 15-30ms response times.
    I've tried:
    1.  Moving the router physcially in the house (no improvement)
    2.  Trying different channels on both 2.5 and 5 (some, but inconsistent improvement)
    3.  Multiple hard resets and reconfiguring the Extreme
    4.  Reinstall the firmware (haven't tried going down in firmware)
    5.  There are no cordless phones in the house
    6.  Absolute speed to the internet is strong (above my provider's stated speed)
    7.  If I connect my Macbook pro directly to the cable router, everything (ping + speed) is great.
    8.  Seeing slow ping responses both on my MacBook Pro and a separate PC
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?  Seems like it a problem with the wireless connection and/or interference.
    thanks!
    Dale

had a 5th gen Extreme that I bought with 7.5 and immediately upgraded to 7.6.  Saw the exact issue you described.  exchanged it for a 6th gen Extreme, and am experiencing the same behavior again... both with 7.5.2 and 7.6 firmware.
everything is hunky dory when plugged directly into my cable modem.
    third time's a charm, hopefully.

  • DSL Internet service

I've been trying to order DSL from Verizon, for over a month. Everytime they put in my order--it gets cancelled. I tried to contact the tech support, provision, billing, sales dept. to find out what is going on! They were giving me the same answer, that I need to call my old internet provider and tell them to turn off the circuit line. I've been calling my old internet provider which is COVAD/Megapath many times and they even called Verizon tech support to inform them (Verizon) there's no active line under my account. It's been off since July 2nd! Still Verizon provision people were saying, they're still seeing the 'line' is still on. I even went at the West Covina CA store to seek help. They weren't abel to do so. I've been waiting for over a month. I thought, that's it if Verizon can't help me--I'm going on a different route. I ended up signing with Time Warner that was July 26, 2011. And guess what, Friday, July 29 around 10:00 AM, I got a message from Verizon (recording) saying that my DSL is ready for activation on August 3rd at around 9:00 PM. I thought this full of **bleep**! After I signed-up from Time Warner now you'll tell me that my order is ready for installation. Verizon is full of crap! Seriously, the sales people works for Verizon don't know what they are doing. Imagine how many time they sent me the equipment--18 times and 18 time I have to go at the UPS store to return these equipment otherwise Verizon will charge me a huge amount of money.
No wonder why big companies ended up being bankrupt due to negligence of their employees. Why, BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE! And nobody cares.
By the way the people that I've been working with to get this DSL service:{edited for privacy} of SanDiego, CA. {edited for privacy} of Misssouri Office & {edited for privacy}of West Covina CA office. They didn't do NOTHING!
It is really frustrating dealing with these Verizon employees. Are they smart people or what...

I'm sorry you are having this much trouble ordering the service. I have sent you a private message to get more information from you so we can assist.

  • Extremely Slow on Internet Explorer 8

    Hi,
I am experiencing extreme slowdown of my flash site after about 1 minute of use. My site makes heavy use of actionscript and javascript, and utilizes many calls to ExternalInterface to allow the two to communicate. The javascript is using yahoo YUI to make asyncronous requests to my server quite frequently. From my debugging I have found that the slowdown occurs in all parts of the asyncronous request, from the get to the processing. In IE8, after about the first minute of use, it takes over a minute for a small request to complete (blocking everything else, including flash), and goes up from there, making the site completely unusable.
The site runs fine for long periods of time in Firefox and Chrome without any slowdown. If I remove flash from the page then IE8 runs fine.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and able to come to a solution?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello Crotty,
Well I won't arrest you.... Promise!
If the internet is slow on only one of the three accounts - Delete that account and try a new one.
If the internet is slow across all three - It could be one of several things ( IMHO )
Amount of free hard drive space.
Lack of maintenance on the computer.
    Settings in system preferences.
Did the thing go slow after setting up a new account?
Hope at least some of that helps!
    Regards
    Ian

  • Extremely slow DSL speeds. Up speed higher than Down speed. Please help.

    I just purchased the 1.1 - 3.0Mbps hi-speed DSL package.
Verizon speed test shows .17Mbps down and .536Mbps up. This is obviously curious for two reasons: 1) the incredibly slow down speed, and 2) the down speed being slower than the up speed.
    Curiously, speedtest.net shows different results:
    2.45Mbps down, .55Mbps up
What could this mean? Transceiver data follows.
    Transceiver Revision 3.3.6.10.0.1
    Vendor ID Code 4D54
    Line Mode ADSL_G.dmt
    Data Path FAST
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)
    Down Stream Path 3360
    Up Stream Path 864
    Margin (dB)
    Down Stream Path 27.1
    Up Stream Path 16.0
    Line Attenuation (dB)
    Down Stream Path 20.1
    Up Stream Path 8.0
    Transmit Power (dBm)
    Down Stream Path 6.8
    Up Stream Path 11.9
Thanks in advance for any advice/ assistance you can offer. This is extremely frustrating.

OK. It seems as though you're suffering from what some people call "Juniperitus." If you're on a Remote DSLAM that uses Alcatel Litespan equipment (Litespan 2000 for example) along with being connected to a Juniper Networks ERX edge router, there tends to be an incompatibility between the two pieces of equipment that causes TCP connections and pretty much any other form of transfer to see artificial packet loss, which results in transmission. This results in inefficiency in every transfer, so what you're seeing is simply a result of all of this. In the past when Verizon first installed Litespan, they were using older Redback Networks edge routers, which did not create such problems. I'm on a Litespan and happen to still be on a Redback in my area (one of remaining ones still in operation in my area) and I get my max line speed with no issue. It's unfortunate that these actually perform better despite the Junipers being far better edge routers in terms of capacity.
I know someone who should be able to get this fixed for you. I'll send you a Private Message.

  • Extremely slow download, internet, MacBook Pro retina early 2013

    Hi All
I hope someone can help me.  I have an early 2013 MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM.  I purchased it around the end of June 2013, and it has been upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.2.
For as long as I can remember, this computer has been excruciatingly slow.  Downloads of some thing like 400MB can take many hours.  Contrast this with downloads on my old ASUS netbook which can download this amount in a matter of minutes on the same network.  My MacBook Pro is also noticeably much slower than any other devices (old ASUS, iPads etc) when surfing he internet - to the point where it failed to load an image rich apple page.
I have look into various forums but can't seem to find a fix for my particular model - although I note that many people are having this problem with Mavericks.  Can someone please help?
    Thanks in advance.

I would have a look at your router before digging any deeper for problems with Mavericks. I am assuming that you are connected to the Internet wirelessly? Using your MacBook Pro, what speeds do you get at -> http://www.speedtest.net/?
Is your router single band or dual band? Are you in the US?

  • Extremely slow wireless internet thru Time Capsule

My iMac is connected by wire to Time Capsule and internet speed is great 30+MB/s.
My Mac Mini (approx 60'from TC) connects wirelessly through router to internet. Speed was fine at first and then started slipping. Now near zero to 3MB/s. Tried reboot - seems to help but only momentarily.
Any clue what is going on? If it's just too far away - is there any solution short of moving mini (which isn't workable)? If it's too far away - why did it work fine for several months?
    Completely frustrated - Please help!

I'd check the strength of the signal and noise you're seeing. On your mini launch AirIPort Utility, then double-click on your base station on the left to enter "manual setup" mode. Pull down the "Base Station" menu and select the "Logs and Statistics" item. In the resulting window select the "Wireless Clients" tab. What values do you see for "Signal" and "Noise" for the mini? describes how to evaluate the relationship between the signal and noise numbers.

It is possible to have DSL internet service without phone service technically. However Verizon only makes it is  available in some markets.

  • PA30 Internet Service

    Hi Experts,
I have a custom infotype which needs to be provided to the ESS users in EP. Now I can create an ABAP program (with TCode) which calls the PA30 uing CALL TRANSACTION by passing the custom infotype number. Then I can create a Transaction iview for the custom program. But in this way I would not be able to pass the PERNR from portal. (how will I pass the portal userid o the transaction iview and then dynamically fetch and pass the corresponding PERNR to the ABAP program.
So is there a way to create a Internet Service of PA30 somehow and then use in EP-ESS
Any kinds of leads are appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
