Extremely slow icloud transfers

Hello,
The last couple of weeks I have had a terrible time downloading keynote (also pages and numbers) documents on my laptop from iCloud.  I use my desktop for most of my work.  Then go to the lecture hall or home and work on my laptop.  Recently the keynote presentations, numbers spreadsheets, and pages documents simply will not download from the cloud onto my laptop.  I just get the grayed out name and a little cloud icon is a down arrow.  They will not open.

I'd simply like to echo/confirm Ed D's comments. I cannot transfer files from one Leopard running Mac to another with anything greater than a 30% success rate and the speed at which the successful transfers occur is positively geriatric.
For me this is only the case when both computers are running Leopard. If one is on Tiger or XP and the other is Leopard transfer rates are normal and robust. For me it seems that this is a Leopard 2 Leopard problem.
I have been able to achieve normal transfer rates by pushing the file over to another computer as opposed to bringing a file over to the computer I'm using. To this end I've been using Screen Sharing to send from the remote computer to the computer I'm on. Not an elegant workaround but it works.
Opening a file from the remote computer is less than dicey an extremely frustrating. This problem is crippling for the MacBook Air...it almost defeats it's purpose. This isn't the case when using Front Row or iTunes, but it does effect Quicktime by itself (playing a file from a network drive generally fails).

  • Extremely slow performance transferring data over USB with Time Capsule

I have the 2TB wireless Time Capsule. I have it setup as an extension to my current WiFi at home, since I already had a WLAN router. I have an external harddrive (500gig) that I connected to my Time Capsule because I wanted to transfer data from the Time Capsule to the external HD. The external HD is formatted with FAT32 file system, so read/write is no problem.
When, using my MacBook Pro, I navigated to the Time Capsule and dragged files over to the connected USB harddrive (connected directly in the Time Capsule), the performance to transfer is extremely SLOW! It was slower than doing the transfer completely wirelessly (USB drive connected to laptop and transfer wirelessly from TC)!
I do not understand this at all! It should be a simple transfer using the USB connection! When I do a transfer from my laptop directly to the USB harddrive, with it connected directly to the laptop, the transfers are super fast!
What happened? Can someone please explain this or tell me what I need to do?
    Thank you!

    I am still confused here.
My original question was regarding the use of my USB external harddrive. It was connected to the back of the TC. The TC was wirelessly speaking to my WLAN router. Using my laptop (also wirelessly speaking to WLAN router), I navigated to the TC and saw 2 listings - one for the data on the harddrive in the TC and one for the new external USB drive connected to the back of the TC. I wanted to transfer data from the harddrive in the TC to the USB external drive. Based on what I expected, I thought the transfer rate would merely be limited by the USB 2.0 interface that is being used by the external drive. However, I was definitely wrong! The transfer rate (shown by the estimate in time to transfer the data by my MacBook Pro) was doubled to 14 hrs.
Originally, it was only 7 hrs when the USB external drive is connected directly to my laptop and I connect to the TC wirelessly. Weird!
So why doesn't the TC simply transfer the data from its internal harddrive to the external USB drive directly without using any wireless technology?
The second question I have is regarding the setup of the TC itself. I have a NetGear WLAN router and its an "n" router. So the speed is good. I have my TC currently downstairs from the WLAN router. Therefore the TC is setup as simply a wireless harddrive. It speaks through the WLAN router in order to be available to all my laptops in my house. My question is whether it should instead be directly connected to the WLAN router using an ethernet cable? Would this improve my overall transfer rates to/from the TC?
    Thanks so much.

  • Extremely slow file transfers to Hyper-V VM on local machine

I am attempting to transfer a 1.3GB file from my local machine (Windows 8) to my local hyper-V instance (Windows 2012). The transfer begins at about 300kb/s and then swiftly drops to 12-20kb/s.
The two machines are connected to the LAN via the same physical ethernet adapter. The vSwitch and my local connection are bridged, so the VM and my local machine have IP addresses on the same subnet.
Could that be related to the issue? I not a network administrator by trade so I am unaware of the tricks to diagnose this issue.

Most likely, you are seeing an issue with Virtual Machine Queues.
If you are running a Broadcom network adapter, you will need to disable Virtual Machine Queues. We just setup a new server, running Server 2012 Standard with Hyper-V, running two Server 2012 Standard guests, and saw the exact same thing you are describing.
This seems to be an issue affecting Broadcom adapters.
Go into the Hyper-V host network properties, and look at the physical adapter, not the vEthernet. On the Advanced tab, scroll down to Virtual Machine Queues, and set it to disabled.
Once we made this change, things were flying.

  • Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps. Upgrade any old software.
    Reinstall OS X:
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • File transfers are soooo extremely slow in Parallels! How to speed up?

For transferring files between osx and parallels, i use the tool which is dilivered with paralles, but is is sooooo extremely slow here. It took 3 minutes too transfer a 2 mb file.
Is it possible to acces the OSX partition in windows by using Macdrive from mediafour? I also did this when i was using bootcamp. But now i like to swich fast betwee XP and OSX, so i started using Parallels
Any other suggestions how to speed up?
Maybe a partition which i can acces from both systems?

Yea, just installed, as they told in the help file. Then i shut down the Quest OSX, and shared some folders with the configuration editor. After that i started Windows again, and there was a new "parallels shared files" shortcut on the windows desktop. In there i could see all the folders i had shared. Just like it was told in the manual.
When i drag a file from the "parallels shared files" location, then it starts copying. It is only soooo slow.
I am sure that it is not a speed or memory or HD problem! I have 2 gig memory, and Quest OS has 0,5 gig and OSX has 1.5 gig. So that should be far enough for both! I have no other programms running (in windows and OSX), so there is no CPU speed short. My HD is just free from work, Quest OS and Windows are note using it, because there are no app's running, except Parallels:P
Are there maybe other possibilites? Can i open the image file in OSX, and drop files in there, or any other solutions. Look out for your help!
Parallels does also not respond to my e-mail, i send it 4 days ago!

  • T61 - Running Hot and USB / 4 in 1 transfers extremely SLOW

I recently noticed that my PC is running hotter than when I first bought it 10 months ago.  I did my own Windows XP downgrade from the base Vista that it had.  Wondering if that is part of the reason.
Also my USB and 4 in 1 card transfer are extremely slow.  Anyone else have these problems on an T61 XP SP2 system?

given the time span, the increased heat could be caused by dust clogging your fan.   removing your keyboard to check the fan/heatsink assembly would be a good idea.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 extremely slow wondering if hard drive failure

Hello, I want to start off by saying I'm not a huge computer guru, so that is why I'm coming here first. My Macbook Pro worked very well for a year, and then it has slowed down drastically. I've always been a windows user so mac is kind of foreign to me, but I'm trying to learn.
Some problems I've encountered are 1. Extremely slow running whether internet related, or just an application. I have checked the activity monitor and nothing is hogging up my memory. 2. Spinning wait cursor (rainbow circle) when I try to do ANYTHING. It takes minutes to start computer once it makes it to home screen. The circle just spins for a few minutes. Even just web surfing it's there. 3. Battery drains from 100% to less than 20% in 30 minutes, which again is annoying. 4. When battery drains the fan turns on and seems to drain battery even faster. 5. I get a lot of random errors forcing shut down of programs. I have ignored this problem for two years by not using my laptop or using it very minimally, but I am going to be needing a laptop again for school and not just my iPad and phone so I was planning on taking my macbook to genius bar, but wanted to check here first since Apple is an hour away. Plus I want to be able to use the piece of equipment that I spent a decent chunk of change on. I used time machine to back up everything today. I know its not a space issue as I have 300+ free GB on hard drive. I have tried to read through similar posts, but its overwhelming so I came here to post my own question.
I ran disc utility and there were some errors, which were able to be corrected after a couple tries. Computer still slow though when trying to do anything and running rainbow circle.
In recovery mode I reinstalled OSX
I was finally able to install updates after completing the above that were not able to be installed before.
I ran etre check, this is the report that came up:

Basically I'm wondering if anything sticks out in this report. I was thinking it could be a possible hard drive failure. I know my computer has been dropped on the floor at least a few times. Thoughts are appreciated. Thank you for your patience.

Eab, I feel your pain! I am replying simply to share my similar ongoing experience with my early 2011 17 inch MacBook Pro, running Mavericks with seeming ample hard drive space, [applications requiring less than 100GB, about 200GB data (total drive space of 500GB)] & 4GB RAM. (Disclaimer: I am not a wise or computer-savvy mac guru - simply a fellow traveler who has had a very similar set of problems - apps taking forever to load, rapid battery depletion & super overheated MacBook.  While I am a Genius Bar groupie, getting to the Apple store is, for me, akin to an antarctic polar expedition (i.e. problematic). Having spent endless hours struggling with a similar issue, I offer you a synopsis of my struggle/experience.
    STEPS TO DATE:
1.Installed several memory utility programs (Daisy Disk &  MacCleanse) system
maintenance program to regularly and thoroughly empty application caches (Adobe apps & internet browsers being tremendous hogs), identify and remove language elements and other redundant space hogs, etc.   Result: Small, but real improvement when I forced myself to perform a "scan and delete" session every second major computer run (typically about 6-8 hours in length). However, this did nothing to help the problems regularly detected when I run the Disk Utility which almost invariably demonstrates disk permissions that need to be repaired and, with increasing frequency, has demonstrated actual disk errors that require restarting and walking through a disk repair protocol. I did bring it to the Genius Bar where they kindly reinstalled Mavericks which they could do in about an hour versus the several hours that doing this at home requires.  This did identify that my RAM was, on fact, a limitation on the speed at which I could run certain apps.
    2. My next move was to install an additional 4GB of RAM. I bought the new RAM on eBay for about $90 because, with 3 kids equipped with MacBooks & iPhones, I simply couldn't afford the official Apple RAM. I even installed it myself, with the help of a YouTube video. Result: Giant improvement in speed (starting up or switching apps. If I had realized how simple it turned out to be, I would have done it well over a year ago. Some minor improvement in the overheating problem, but persistent problems with disk permissions continually requiring repair and periodic disk repairs (using Disk Utility) required.
    PLANNED FINAL INTERVENTION:
    3. I am purchasing and installing a solid state drive (ssd) and simply chucking the original hard drive, after considerable discussion with my savvier mac friends. It has become clear to me that, sadly, every hard drive has a finite life affected by a variety of factors. I am, in fact, hard on my equipment - running multiple graphic apps simultaneously, transferring massive GBs of data between my laptop, time capsule and an array of hard drives. I will let you know how it goes, but can share that the decision to get a solid state drive followed many conversations with multiple Mac guru-types (in the hope of saving you similar painful tribulations). The cost varies according to the size of the drive, but $400-$500 would buy a reasonable starting size. I am waiting for Black Friday sales, myself. Amazon (where I will likely purchase the ssd) is already offering a number of pre-Black Friday deals.  While I don't really feel like putting out that amount of cash, I reassure myself that a new drive will almost certainly solve the disk errors (with a solid state one offering more durability) & will help me prolong the life of my MacBook Pro by a couple of years hopefully. It beats buying a new Apple MacBook only three and a half years after investing close to $3k for this one!
I am certain that more experienced forum users could point you to software that could help defragment your drive or may be able to offer other solutions. I've simply had enough of struggling with burning thighs and head-banging behavior triggered by slow performance. I hope this is helpful to you in some small way.  The war is not yet over, but I'm feeling good about the battle plan!

  • Laserjet CM1415fnw - wireless printing extremely slow

    Hello,
I've got my new CM1415fnw, set up wireless following instructions and installed OSX drivers on my Macbook. Printer is visible and manageable via HP utility, test page is printing extremely fast.
The problem is, everything EXCEPT a test page is printing HIDEOUSLY slow - like 5 to 7 minutes after you sent anything to print, the printer finaly starts printing it... And if you're printing a multi-page document, it actually takes 5 to seven minutes for EVERY page to start printing!
Obviously, something must be very wrong with this shiny new printer printing at cool speed of 8-10 pages PER HOUR, where my old Photosmart C7100 was happily printing about the same number of pages per minute? All wireless setting are the same in both cases, and as I already mentioned printer is visible and accessible, and test page prints blazingly fast. It's just that except for test page printing this device is pretty much useless at the moment...
Are there any hints or something I should check to identify the problem? As I'm mentioned, I'm under OSX, so Windows-based HP diagnostic tools are not much help...

Hello I just bought this printer a few days ago and set it up and have noticed the same problems with extremely slow network printing through the wireless. I have a 70 meg down fast internet connection & a Belkin 450n db wireless router. When I print photos it takes almost a half an hour for the photos to come through the network and print, which seems very strange for an office LaserJet to be considered normal output. I've also look into purchasing an auto duplex accessory and extra RAM but have sadly found out that neither are an option for this model. First off I have to say shame on you HP for not offering loyal customers the option for auto duplexing and RAM upgrading. Second the print speeds on this thing are absolutely atrocious! Third, your outsourcing of customer support or tech support overseas absolutely sucks. I called up tech support and was transferred immediately to the Philippines. The wrong department received my call and then transferred me to India. I spoke with somebody who had a terrible accent and the call quality was bad on top of that so half an hour went by and he really couldn't help me with my slow network printing issues. On top of that I asked him if although duplexing an extra RAM were accessories I could purchase for this model and he couldn't figure that out he didn't have an answer. So now that I finished ranting , can anybody help me with this or is this the way this thing was made to be, slow as can be?

  • Windows 8.1 Pro File Explorer Extremely Slow

    Hello,
I am using Windows 8.1 Professional, and since a short time, I am having troubles with the file explorer.
It is extremely slow. When I just want to select a file, it takes about 10 seconds, if not more, and then any operation I perform on files (opening directories, renaming files, right-clicking for options, etc.) is terribly slow.
I have looked at the indexing options and tried to minimize the areas that are indexed, but to no avail. Even with only C:/Users indexed, I have about 500,000 items indexed.
    Here are my PC specifications:
    1. 32 GB of RAM
    2. Intel core i7 3.50 GHz with 4 cores
    3. 240 GB SSD in RAID + 3 TB Western Digital Black Edition in RAID
Do you have any ideas on how I could solve this? Also, I would like not having to clean-install my PC.
    Regards,
    Jeremie

AMS-DIS, perhaps you're talking about a different level of problem than the person who started this thread.
Just because you've seen it personally doesn't make it automatically a systemic Microsoft problem.  While I don't disagree that Explorer could be better programmed, there ARE those of us who don't see regular crashes, freezes, or particularly slow operation.
Keeping in mind that external drives have to spin up, and that can be perceived as taking some time when you access the drive in Explorer, once spun up you shouldn't be seeing noticeable delay.
If you are, please quantify what you're seeing with some specifics.
    Here's what I see:
When I first navigate to my spun-down MyBook external USB drive I see the contents of the root folder instantly.
When I navigate a level or two into the folder structure I see a few second delay when it gets deep enough that the data is not cached and the drive has to spin up to get it.
Then, once spun up, when I navigate into any folder its contents show up instantly.
When I copy a file by dragging to/from the drive or do a backup to the drive I see a substantial percentage of the theoretical maximum transfer speed (I have USB2).
If you are not seeing performance similar to the above then you have something out of the ordinary set up on your particular system that's causing it.  You should never be seeing crashes.  I don't.
Now, that being said, when transferring multiple files / folders, I *do* see a fair bit of slowdown in transfer rate, implying something's being throttled back by Explorer or there's way too much end to end communication, even between SSDs.
I've wondered whether Explorer is slowing things down just so you can see them happen in its progress dialog.    Windows XP used to be faster at copying big blocks of multiple files even 13 years ago.

  • Initial Time Machine Backup - Extremely Slow/Freeze

    Hello,
I recently switched my external HDDs and began utilizing a different HDD in conjunction with Time Machine. I have used this HDD in the past with Time Machine and never had a problem. The initial backup is proceeding at an extremely slow rate and often freezes - as of writing, it is currently standing at 125.3MB of 1.07TB - About 1,172 days. I have erased and reformatted the drive (Mac OS Extended (Journaled)), tested data transfer rates to it by transferring files myself (normal rate), repaired permissions, verified my disks, tried the initial backup while spotlight was off and have forced a spotlight re-index, allowing it to go to completion before attemtping a backup - however, no solution has thus far worked. I have not made any large changes to my computer since I switched the HDDs either.
Does anybody know what could be causing such a problem and how to fix this? Many thanks for any help,
    - Cptbigt

No obvious elements in the list.
This may well be a dying disk and/or a very bad battery.
    Do following:
make a new etrecheck list and in the problem description put what Applications->Utilities->SystemInformation says about the battery (under the Power heading in the left panel): give cycle count and battery condition.
Then post the link in a new thread.
In the meantime the crash report is probably a French Dictionary issue (font? garcon garçon) you have installed, uninstall that and see if it happens again.

  • Mavericks extremely slow on MacBook Pro Mid-2010

    Hi all,
Since i installed Mavericks its been impossible to work on my Mac. I've already done a clean install and no signs of improve.
I use Eclipse IDE to work, and its extremly slow now. Even can have some video playing on Youtube without some cuts when working.
What should i do? Downgrade to ML? Sell this laptop? Buy new RAM?
I've attached below the EtreCheck.... i don't know if theres something on my OS that may be causing this.
PS: ....and the OS already indexed all the files.
Big thanks for any help given.

First, back up all data immediately unless you already have a current backup. If you can't back up, stop here. Do not take any of the steps below.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Extremely slow Safari, Mail, Firefox, etc.

I have been experiencing an extremely slow computer. Safari, Apple Mail, Firefox, Apple App store, iTunes store, any app the requires the internet. Sometimes it takes Google.com 30 seconds to load. Apple Mail routinely times out. After loading a web page and then selecting the back button, it takes over 30 seconds to reload the previous page. I have turned off iCloud.
I contacted my ISP,  two service calls to check the line and they replaced the cable modem. The results from Speedtest.net were +25Mbps download so their advice was to call Apple.
I have been getting a Recoverd files folder in the trash when I start up the compter. Activity monitor only shows, activity in Finder, Firefox, and Acitvity Monitor, so nothing else is running in the background.
Any suggestions? Have I missed something?
Should I do a Clean Install?
iMac, 27 inch, 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7, 8GB memory,  Mac OS 10.8.2
    Thank you.

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, reboot as usual and post the results.

  • New MBA extremely slow internet after upgrading to 10.6.7

Hey Folks, I have updating my brand new MBA to 10.6.7 and my internet is now extremely slow through the airpot. All of my other macs are running 10.6.6 and are very fast. Im using a new Airport Extreme base station, does anyone have any idea on how to fix this. LIke I mean its extremely slow online.
    Thanks
    Jason

    Good day,
I'd like to confirm a few things:
What action/activity are you performing in Acrobat when it crashes?
Is the crash consistent at the same point?
You stated in the subject '..after upgrading to 10.6.7'
What OS was on your iMac when you purchased it?
Was this problem occuring when using an earlier verion of 10.6.x?
Have you applied to font update Apple released to address some of the problems they introduced with 10.6.7?
Did you perform a clean install of Acrobat on your iMac after you purchased it or was the application transferred in some way?
I hope we can get this resolved for you!
    Regards,
    David

While 4GB may have been fine with Snow Leopard or Lion, that was 4 years ago.
If you have never done a clean install consider doing one. Backup, clone, setup a USB installer and wipe the system. Or wait for the new internal 500GB drive (so you are back to using about 50%) to do a clean install and run Setup Assistant. You would be surprised how even just that can feel and run.
RAM is pretty much a given so when you do, look at putting a 500GB SSD in there as well.
