Extremely slow response

Since I upgrade to Firefox 3.5.1 it is extremely slow in responding to lots of web pages including my own home page Atlantic Broadband and my E-Mail for Atlantic Broadband. It just seems to go out to lunch for a minute or more at times. There is no error it eventually gets there, but it is quite annoying. I had no problems at all with the earlier version.

v3.5.1 would be a downgrade because the current version is 4.0
Try updating again, but do it via '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''
According to your system specs you currently have v3.6.16 installed which is the previous version to the current one.

  • Weblogic 12c Admin Console Extremely Slow Response in "Servers" only

    Hi,
I have downloaded and installed weblogic 12c today on IBM p702 blade centre running AIX 7.1 & IBM Java 7. Everything is working fine; Admin Server, Node Manager, etc.
I am facing a strange kind of problem and need your kind suggestions.
When i login to Admin Console 12c and i click on the "servers" link under the domain -> environment; the server response is extremely slow. However, the rest is fine. There is no application deployed and no warning + exception/error is in logs (node manager, admin server out etc.)
    Please advice!
    Good Day.

This happens when node managers are not running (or not reachable), as it tries to obtain the status of the servers that are deployed on different machines.
What you can check is; are the node managers running on the machines you have configured (in the admin console, click environment, machines, your_machine, monitoring)

  • Extremely Slow Response when attempting to display files on Windows Server

I have set up File Sharing on my MacBook Pro using SMB and defined the folders that are available to be shared. When I look at the Network Neighbourhood in Windows Explorer the Macbook appears listed with all the other PCs on the network. When I try to open the Macbook in Explorer it takes a very long time to open (about 2 minutes or so) and shows me the list of folders. When I try to open a folder the exact same thing happens - it opens after a couple of minutes, this continues for every folder that I try to open. I thought it might be that Explorer needed to "catalog" the files in the folders but the same thing happens each time - if I close the connection and try again it takes the same amount of time. What is very strange is that if I connect to the Windows Server from the Mac opening and looking at shared folders/files is instantaneous so clearly this is not a network problem. If I use the Win2K3 server to look at other computers/files the result is the same - instantaneous access, so it has nothing to do with the Win2K3 server - clearly the problem is with the MacBook serving up the file information to the Win2K3 server. I have tried with AFP on and off and the result is the same. The user name/pwd is the same on both the Win2K3 and the Macbook - and I have tried with a different username on the Win2K3 - no difference. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Yes they are on the same workgroup, on ethernet, plugged into the same switch. The Mac can read and copy files of the Win2K3 server with no problem. The problem is clearly at the Mac end as the Win2K3 server can view files on any machine on the network without the slow response, the Mac can view files on the Win2K3 server without the slow response, it is only when the Win2K3 server tries to view files on the Mac.

  • Photoshop CS6 extremely slow response times on Mavericks?

It sounds like a lot of people are having issues with Mavericks. I was happy as a clam with CS4, but a hard drive replacement - with the latest OS - forced me into CS6 (I have a subscription) a few months ago. Since then, it's been like simming in quicksand...
I've spoken with several reps, and they figured out that some of the issues were due to a bad user account. That's all fixed now, but it's still taking several minutes to become 'responsive' if I step away from the program for any length of time. Even if I just go to check email. It can take two minutes (or more) for the keys to become active.
It feels like I've disabled nearly everything off Photoshop, and it doesn't seem to matter if it's a complex multi-layered file or a screenshot PNG. It's all just painfully slow.
Can anyone suggest some tricks to get back my old' speed?

Moving this discussion to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

  • Extremely slow response/start up time

    Hi guys,
Having an issue with my mid 2009 MBP, running  Lion 10.7.5 with all current updates.
I've generally never had an issue with start up time or performance until very recently, aside from the odd kernel panic.
Within the last week (i've not made any changes or installed any new apps), response time has become EXCRUCIATINGLY slow, rainbow beachballing on me every 5 seconds and just super laggy. Start up time is unbearable, if it starts up at all (usually hangs on grey apple screen).
    I've troubleshooted this a little as per the following;
    - cleared PRAM/NVRAM
    - Restarted in recovery mode, verified and repaired startup disk as well as disk permissions.
    - Restarted in safe mode (it eventually booted)
    - Booted in single user mode and performed fsck.
    - installed all current software updates
    - ensured there is 20% free space on start up disk
The only things i haven't done is opened it up, and checked/cleaned off the RAM - don't have a screwdriver small enough to do so
Anyone got any ideas? There's no clicking noises from the HDD and the fans aren't spinning unnecessarily..... I"m stumped
    Cheers

  • Extremely slow response from Maverics with working account

    Hi all,
let me reference an earlier issue I had after I switched to Mavericks on my MacBook:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23576494?ac_cid=tw123456#23576494
I don't know if this problem is related to the earlier incident or not...
In any case, here is the scenario: MacBook (late 2008), previously with Mountain Lion. My main account ("nick") has a home folder location different than standard. This is because the boot drive is a (smallish) SSD, I.e. the home folder had been moved (long time ago) to a second HDD that I've installed instead of the Superdrive. The specialty here is that this 2nd HDD is encrypted (done at formatting time).
Subsequently, when I restart the MacBook, I first have to log into the admin account, which will automatically mount the HDD (password in keychain), then log back out and log into my user account.
This worked like a charm with Lion and Mountain Lion.
Along comes Mavericks. As you'll see in the link posted above, I had some issues getting the user to log in at all. Possibly a quirk in Mavericks, fixed by using a symbolic link.
In any case, the responsiveness of the system with that one account logged in is - to say the least - excessively slow.
It seems that something is holding up the CPU for long periods of time (30 seconds? 60 seconds?) between activities. This might be launching a program and waiting forever for it to show the initial window. Then selecting a function and waiting for that, etc.
Really odd is the fact that this only happens with this one account. I've tried logging in and then holding the Shift key (keeps the login script from loading selected programs automatically), but this didn't help.
Again, it only happens with this one account, so it has to be something to do with a setting or something.
Odd, too, is that the CPU isn't loaded at all - in fact, nothing seems to be happening (which, in fact, is what is happening...).
    Ideas anyone?
I had a very similar effect when moving from Snow Leopard to Lion (Upgrade, not a clean install), so maybe it is something that isn't unusual?

Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having. Hard drives do sometimes fail, and it really isn't a fun experience when it does. I don't work for Apple, but I'm a certified tech that like others has access to the warranty repair system and I know how it works. Normally we get all parts very quickly, but there are some cases where backorders and incorrect repairs are inputted which slow things down.
Apple actually does read the forums and responds to them as well. I have several friends who do just that. I would suggest to the repair center that they try the "mark for review" checkbox because this shouldn't be taking this long and it will get a repair advisor's attention to find what's delaying it. Hopefully it'll be resolved shortly.

  • I'm experiencing extremely slow response when attempting to open the control center from the lock screen, any suggestions?

When trying to access the control center from the lock screen, it takes anywhere from 2 to MANY swipes to get a response.  Never opens on the first try.

I'm not having the same problem, but there is a feature in the OS that attempts to discern from swipes to unlock and swipes to open control center. This is what you may be experiencing.

  • How can I cure extremely slow responses, refreshes, etc? Worst in Facebook.

Web pages suddenly turn blank, then reappear. Firefox is very slow to open. In Facebook, characters typed are very delayed in showing up on the screen.
    Win XP, Firefox 3.6.13

Never mind... I found my own mistake. I was using the image graphics context, when I should be using the components (where the image was drawn) to write over the image.
I can draw anytime, anywhere over the image by calling
    Graphics gDraw = this.getGraphics();
    gDraw.drawLine(...);

  • Extremely slow response on SetDataSource command

    Hi,
I realy hope someone can help me.
I have a report with 44 sub reports, in the report header.
The processing is very simple, and the amount of data isn't large, i get the slow loading even when there is as little as 2 rows of data in the data set.
This report used to work fine on Crystal 9 and .net 1.1
we have now upgraded to .net 3.5 and Crystal 10.0 with SP 6.0
As soon as my application hits the SetDataSource command, it takes anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes.
Note that in the crystal designer it displayes the report instantly.
Note that in crystal 9, it displayed the report instantly.
I'm at my wits end, and at the point of throwing the report out totally, so i would appreciate any help.
The reason for the 44 subreports, is that i have a main report, showing one total for each subreport, and when you click on it, it displays the detail.
If there is a better way of doing this, i'm also open to any suggestions
Thank you in advance and anticipation

I think here is the start of the problem:
"...we have now upgraded to .net 3.5 and Crystal 10.0 with SP 6.0"
Since you are using .NET 3.5 (e.g.; .NET 2008 ?) and CR 10 with SP 6 (CR 10.0.x), you are using an incorrect version of CR. Only CR 10.5 and CR 2008 are supported in .NET 2008.

  • Computer Extremely Slow Response

Hi, I have and Ibook with Mac os10.3, recently I started having problems accessing the internet it takes for ever to get to a web site. I use Safari and Explorer browsers. I did a bandwith test and the results came back as 79kb.
I don't think it has anything to do with the ISP because I use another computer to test the bandwidth on the same network and came back as 1.2 mb for the other computer. Could this be a memory problem. Also, I have a 30G hard drive with no personal files on it and it is saying 17G are use. I have no idea where it is. Word and Excel are also slow. Any ideas?
I repar the disk using the disk utility but no luck.

    Hi Apo,
I can't tell you about your bandwidth problem, but here's a piece of freeware called WhatSize that may help you determine where your diskspace has gone.
If your system is slow, try to repair permissions from the Disk Utility. If that doesn't help, open the application Fontbook, and select "all fonts". If you have duplicate fonts (those with bullets by them), do an Edit>Resolve Duplicates (one duplicated-font at a time). When done, close Fontbook, and see if your system speed has increased.
    Hope this helps some.

  • HELP! Extremely slow response to most things...

I rebooted my NLSBS9 server last night. It's a Dell PowerEdge 1750 with two
146Gb RAID-1 disks and 1Gb of RAM. It's been working fast until now.
I hit F2 and watched the reboot process. All was fast and good until
"Starting Apache...". At that point, it was over 10 minutes until the
system moved on, and then another 30 minutes until the KDE login prompt
    appeared.
I've managed to get a terminal window onto the server through PuTTY on my
PC. The system is showing as 100% CPU idle and about 180Mb RAM free (no
swap in use) and the hard disk LEDs are barely flashing. None of the
filesystems are anywhere near full. Some commands/scripts/programs respond
immediately (e.g. ps, cat, ls, top) but others which were working fine
yesterday (e.g. man, or doing anything at all through KDE on the system
console) take about half an hour to respond.
I've never seen behaviour like this before.
Virus brought in through GWIA, perhaps ? I don't know.
The only things that look slightly concerning are:
1 - Four instances of /USR/SBIN/CRON in upper case
2 - An instance of java (to run Tomcat) which shows 468m of virtual memory,
50m of resident memory, and 12m of shared memory. But this might be normal.
Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong - or even how I start to
diagnose the problem ? Yes, I could reboot, but what's to say the same
    behaviour won't recur.
Why should it take so long for anything to respond ?

I have downloaded the product for evaluation and have to say I had the same
issue twice. It seems to related to tomcat after I have configured GW
webaccess GW is version 6.5.3 on the install disks.
Thinking that the now available update to 6.5.6 would fix it I donloaded
and installed the GW service pack just to see that the issue still existed
I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone in its current stage.

  • 2.5 GB Ram, no application - Disk usage bottleneck - extrem slow response

    Hi everybody,
I'm experiencing some trouble. Last weekend, i updated my itunes library with bpm count for DJing via BPMer. The Librarys size is about 100 GB. Usually i have 50 - 75 GB free space depending on the size of some Logic Pro projects.
While updating, Time Machine went crazy with tons of gigs of updates but after some time my internal (not time machine) drive was getting full.
So i started to delete some old files but the left space didnt grow up.
After some time i recognized i had over 100 GB free space, why?
From this time on my disk is going crazy by doing whatever (thats my big question), my Ram is used with up to 2.5 gig without displaying any application using this much space and the free disk space is changing in minutes between 135 and 100 GB.
I tried some maintainace skipts, PRAM reset, Permissions repair, disk repair, virus/ trojan scan without finding the reason.
The real problem is i can see in the istat pro monitoring, that the disk is going crazy, but du in terminal doesnt give me hint on what application it is. The same thing is true for the ram which is used, but no application is listed with more than 200MB.
    Thanks for your help!

Defragmenting using iDefrag solved the problem…
The mac only maintains files smaller than 1 GB, iDefrag did the rest…

  • Extremely Slow Response Time Amongst other things

I've had my Powerbook G4 for almost 4 years now, and I have just recently starting having problems with it. It takes forever to connect to the internet and most of the time it takes about a minute for the mouse to catch up to what my finger is doing, and then to actually open a program such as Word or iTunes, which are commonly used programs for me, it will take 2-5 minutes. As well as it will stop typing randomly, for instance it just did it now typing this paragraph, and then it'll catch up about a minute later. Is this normal or is there anything I can do to fix this? I've tried rebooting it, and doing software updates but nothing has fixed it or made it better yet. Please help!

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
If you haven't already, you might want to read this performance FAQ: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/performance.html . This will discuss, for example, the need to keep a minimum of your hard drive free for systems usage, sometimes expressed as 10% to 15% of the hard drive capacity.
Some have found using a utility like OnyX, available at http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html can help restore performance to a sluggish system. Do the tasks on the maintenance and cleaning tab, which may require reboot(s). Of course, before using any disk maintenance program it's good practice to have a current backup of the internal hard drive.
Have you checked recently that you have the memory you expect to have, i.e. you should have 2GB and you confirm the system agrees? Click the blue apple and about this mac to see the amount of memory the system recognizes.

  • Slow response time, applications won't load, etc.

I'm writing this on behalf of my sister, who is on a MacBook Pro, operating Mac OS 10.4.8.
Just yesterday, she began to notice extremely slow response time on her laptop, with applications taking up to 5 minutes to load sometimes, and the Internet subsequently taking ages to switch from page to page. The laptop is also constantly freezing up, with the spinning circle showing up frequently, as well as complete system freezes on and off.
I went on the computer and repaired disk permissions, as well as verified the disk. All went fine. Tried to do a software update in order to update to 10.4.9, but the computer freezes before it can even really begin to download the information.
Numerous reboots were also tried, with nothing working. I don't want to have to do something extreme like reinstalling the operating system without knowing that there might be a simpler solution, so that's why I'm here! I'd also like to know whether we can save her files (documents, etc.), if a reinstallation is needed.
Edit: She reports that she did install or download any software or file attachments, and keeps insisting that the problem virtually came out of nowhere, in case this helps!
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Alright-her computer has gotten progressively worse, and has not even managed to reach the log in screen for the past 10 minutes. Just a grey screen, an apple, and the little twirling loading thing.
Am at a loss as to what to do...last night, I could log in, but it was still hanging and taking just about forever for it to do anything.
Is a reformat the only thing left to do? She does subscribe to AppleCare-is it worth calling them, or will they just tell her to reformat as well?
Edit: I'm beginning to think this might date back to a lightning storm we had a couple days ago-does this sort of behaviour seem to follow the behaviour or something that experienced an electrical surge? Her phone in the room was acting funny as well for a few days.

  • Response time Extremely slow on MS Translator API

    Hi,
I am now using Translator API to translate input data from users in real time.
But I found that the response time from the API is sometimes extremely slow.

(it normally takes only a few seconds)
--- I am sure that I have enough quota.
I wonder if there is request limit in a minute and if so, how can I upgrade the limit so
I can keep my service work perfectly?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is totally unsusual. For strings in the two to three thousands characters it should not take more than a few 100ms. Can you try again and tell us if you still see this behavior?
Our service is up and running (just go to bing.com/translator and you'll be able to test for yourself the speed of translation for a several hundreds characters sentence) so I'm not sure how to help you out here if it is still the case and your internet
    connection is working fine.
