Extremely sluggish SMS typing? is there a fix? this is terrible.

Almost everytime I get a SMS and hit "reply"...it loads up SMS and when I type the letters respond they VERY VERY slowly. I have to exit out of SMS program, and then restart it...what gives?
Anyone had the same experience?? Will Apple just give me a new phone???

Try holding the home button for about 5 to 8 seconds every time you close down an app. The screen will go blank and then your home screen will pop up. This will fully close the apps down. Even os apps should be closed this way until they come out with a firmware update. For some reason aps are not fully closing as Apple had said they would to reduce memory and cpu usage. That is what is causing your lag. Mine was horrible until I started doing this for all apps. Making sure you do a hard reset after every sync/back up helps a lot too. When you turn the phone on after the hard reset it will have a tiny bit of lag as the os loads into the memory, but should clear up soon after.

Firefox opens in an extremely small size when I open it. I tried to maximize it and restart. Nothing fixes it. How do I fix this problem? It is driving me nuts.

To make it open at a nice size, make sure you have only one Firefox window open, then un-maximize it (which should make it small again), then resize the window '''by dragging the corners''' ('''not''' using the maximize button) to make it whatever size you like. Close the window and it should then start back up at the same large size.
The same trick should work with any Windows program that opens in an annoyingly small window :)

Pages has extremely delayed typing, how do I fix this?

Lately when I use Pages, I have to sit and wait on the text to catch up with my cursor. All other computer programs I have on my Mac do not have this problem and run just fine when I am typing. My Pages program is up to date and has been fine in the past, it is just now that I am having some major lag time issues. I have closed and reopened the program, restarted my computer, and done pretty much everything I can think of to troubleshoot the problem. Any advice/help on correcting this is appreciated. Guess you are using Pages 5.2.2? You didn't say.
Lots of things cause it to run slow.
Lots of images, lots of objects, lots of text, lots of pages, lots of citations…
It uses a very obscure and bloated file format, which doesn't help.
Sounds like you may have used Pages '09 in the past, keep using it.

I have done this several times with Firefox 7.0 loaded and without it loaded on my PC. I still cannot use Firefox and now my ZA tells me that my computer is at risk because my anti-virus/anti-spywareise not activated. However, everytime I click to turn them on, they immediately go off and the ZA update function does not work, it gives me an error message when I try to use it. Latest update to iPad has lagging issues with typing, how do i fix this?

My son's iPad was just updated to OS7.1 and eve since then his type functions will not work on the device. I have tried reseting the device and turing off the document setting in ICLOUD. Neither of these solutions worked. I am concerned that forms show this to be a know trouble for the iPad. Does anyone have a fix?

Time Machine has been working just fine, but in the last week or two it has given up the ghost. I reset the connections to the drive, and it will basically save a few bytes of data and then hang.
Although Apple originally announced, prior to the release of the first 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBSn), that it would support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks, they removed that option before they did finally release the base station for sale.
Since then, Apple has posted (as you have noted) that they DO NOT support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks. As far as I know, they have not changed from that position and those who do these backups find that they become corrupted over time. Sorry, but it sounds like you just confirmed that for yourself.

No. Again, this feature has never been supported by Apple for every generation of AEBSn released.

If your data backups are critical to you, then you will want to use a different solution for your Time Machine backup destination drive strategy. I would suggest that you connect your WD My Book directly to your Mac in the mean time.
Your other options would be to either use a Time Capsule (which interestingly does support TM backups to AirPort Disks) or a non-Apple solution like the Drobo FS or HP MediaSmart server.

The Split Keyboard feature may have been enabled accidentally when you updated.
If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, or covering text and the text is not moving up as expected - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.

Is there a fix for iBooks being *extremely* slow once my ebook has highlights and notes?

My ebooks respond to gestures quickly in iBooks until I add highlights, notes, or other annotation. Then it takes10-20 seconds to do anything--turn a page, select a word, highlight new text, change the highlight color, etc. I use the latest iBooks release (1.5) with iPhone 3GS and iOS 5.0.1. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix? Thanks!

This issue is still unfixed for more than a year, we have iBooks 3.0 and still, unfixed.

You could try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I've also seen a couple of posts recommending turning off iCloud (which I haven't tried yet).

When I type anything in Firefox like an e-mail, spaces do not register immediately when I hit the spacebar, and it slows down my typing tremendously. I am not very technical when it comes to computers. There is no list view in Search Menu in the iOS 6 AppStore. Please fix this ASAP as it is hurting App Sales.

There is no list view in Search Menu in the iOS 6 AppStore. They need to fix this ASAP as not being able to view the search results in list format make searching for new apps slow, painful after so many swipes, and nearly impossible. Because after so many swipes it starts to lag and eventually crashes. But most of all it makes finding the apps you want extremely time consuming and hard, as you have to swipe through apps that have nothing to do with what you are searching for. Here's an example...
Say you want to find an app that can mark where you park your car.
On the iPhone using iOS 6. Go to the AppStore > Search (you know the little icon at the bottom that says search.) Now type in "Parking" and search for that.
It brings up games... Ok this would not be an issues except, you have to swipe through each game as opposed to looking at a list of apps and tapping on one that has a name that doesn't indicate it is a game. So now this causes you to end up swiping through 10 or 20 apps before finding even one app that has to do with what you are looking for.
I'm telling Apple now. If I was a developer I would sue. This has made it very difficult and even discourages some people from searching for Apps. I personally gave up searching after swiping 200 times only to find 4 apps that had anything to do with what I actually was searching for. The old list view worked much better and was drastically more user-friendly. Now I don't even like to look for new Apps because I spend more time swiping through Apps that have nothing to do with what I want and less time reading about the ones I do. All because AppStore search menu doesn't have a List View.
Fix this so it's more user friendly please and I can actually enjoy searching for new or random Apps in the search menu.
