Eye strain= burning, red/bloodshop, itching eyes after working hours
I've been working on my macbook everyday for hours and have been experiencing significant eye strain. After a nights sleep, eyes are better. Yet, after working on the computer after a few hours....it comes back. This has never happened before and am wondering if it's the type of display/lighting.
I read some other posts and decided to try and calibrate. I changed the lighting to yellowish for graphic work.
Has anyone else noticed this problem. I thought it might be from the smaller 13" screen, which I've never used before. Always used a much bigger screen.
Any words of wisdom out there?
A small number of people do report having issues with the LED backlighting used in modern LCD displays. This is "believed" to be due to the way the LEDs are dimmed. LED dimming is actually simulated by blinking the LEDs on and off very quickly (as they can't actually dim in the truest sense). The frequency changes based on the dimmed level. With the display at full brightness, the LEDs are generally constantly "on". Some people believe the rapid flashing, even though not detectable, is causing the problem for them. You may want to try your display at full brightness to see if that helps. I haven't seen any significant research on the topic so pretty much everything is hearsay.

I have a friend who's Macbook is acting a bit weird. In iPhoto 08 if you try to edit the red eye, after a few photos it'll starting doing one eye okay (the left) but then completely miss the other one, putting a black splotch above the eye or to the side of the eye. It's not because of aiming incorrectly.
Also although this isn't the right place to post, iMovie 06 won't let her edit the audio in timeline view. The little markers that enable you to drag the volume down aren't there when you click, for some reason. Not major things but little bugs...
All the latest updates have been installed and I've also done things like deleting the plist and even done an Archive Install for her but iPhoto red eye still doesn't work right. Haven't checked iMovie 06 yet but maybe will tomorrow.Have you run the latest updates for the iLife 08 apps? If so reinstall iPhoto and update the the lastest, 7.1, followed by a repair of disk permissions.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
How do you get the auto red eye to work in iphoto when it won't click?
When we are trying to correct the red eye problems from photos taken from my dads Sony point and shoot camera iphoto's automatic red eye option isn't enabled. We tryed to fix this by upgrading to the latest version of iphoto but the problem persists- the autocorrect for the red eye won't click. We are feeling ripped off because it should work. Right?
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If the red eye correction works OK in the new library do the following on your original library: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I tried to burn a DVD using iDVD after upgrading to Maverick, first time I tried after upgrading to Maverick a few weeks ago. It seems to get stuck at encoding menu stage and not doing anything. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.

Failed info package, failed request turns from red to green after 1 hour so

There is a failed info package and if u go to monitor screen, the request status will be red in colour but then the same request after 1 hour or so turn from red to green automatically, why is this, what could be the possible reason??????????Hi Lieu.
The system automatically sets the status for the load to incorrect if the waiting time is exceeded. The load will still be running even though it might look incorrect, and that is why it turns green when it is complete (and everything is correct).
You can set the waiting time if you go to the monitor -> choose a request -> settings -> waiting time up to status incorrect (ctrl + F9).

RED R3D files "unsupported" after project save
Suddenly, yesterday, my R3D files from our RED cam are unusable / unsupported after project file save. Opening and existing project and prior to saving the RED files work fine. Importing RED is also "unsupported" after saving the modified project file. Closed the project to test importing into a blank project, still no dice. Restarted AE and still can't import. Only thing I haven't tried yet is restarting and importing into a blank project.
So the only way I've been able to work with my RED footage is to open the project file that previously had them imported before this issue and not to save. Once I save the unsupported errors show up. None of the RED footage is corrupted.
I'm currently moving one of the clips to a direct attached drive to rule out our NAS. I'll update soon.
I've been using RED in CS6 and CC without problem for many, many months (possibly years, I lose track of time in my cage)
RED footage is from an EPIC Mysterium and in a format we've used many many times

Synology NAS (slow for RED work but reliable and cheap)This was a while ago, but I think I went into REDCINE-X Pro at the time and clicked all the "D" buttons to set the metadata back to it's defaults. If that doesn't work, maybe try deleting the RMD file which contains metadata modifications. Also, notice that at the bottom of my post I indicated that the newer version of the software made resolved that problem, so try using newer software to open the media file which, I think, updates the RMD file and allows AE to use the R3D file.

I have had no problems in the past burning with this media and I'm halfway through a stack of 50...
I dont have any other media here atmo so any help would be great..
Also upgraded firmware with msilive although it said I had the current version..

Im sure as that when I used to burn DVD's the red led was solid not flashing....H E L P ....!I don't understand why the light would be solid and not flashing when burning.
If this is a common problem, it's a problem for me because i'm about to order two MSI DR16-B DVD-RW drives, tell me, is this the drive you have in your system? The one with the problem?
If so i could use some advance warning of the problems i might face.
The previous post is correct, make sure that your Operating System hasn't put the drive into PIO mode, it should be UDMA Mode 2 at least. -

Red box Highlighting the entire work area of the Block diagram
I have a thin red box highlighting the entire work are of the block diagram...I've checked for breakpoints but dont see any. I run the code and after completion the entire work area turns black for a couple seconds and then the red box flashes and the continue button on the tool bar is hightlighted. tksThis is indeed a breakpoint.
You should be able to clear it by selecting your breakpoint tool from the tools palette and clicking outside of your main code area.
When your breakpoint tool is going to set a breakpoint, the tool is filled in with black. When is is going to clear a breakpoint, it is not filled.
You can also search for breakpoints from the Edit menu Find function. Click the Select Object icon goto Others and select Breakpoint. This will find all your breakpoints. Sometimes they get set by mistake and you don't know it.
