Eye tv and usb2

I am having a problem getting Elgato EyeTV (DVB-T Sick) to load. iMac can't locate USB2 port. Thinks it is USB 1. Hence no signal. Everything checked re antenna and Elgato check list. Someone suggested warming up the Pinnacle stick. Not tried this yet in case i do damage.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks.
My system as follows:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Yes to no avail.
This is the latest from Elgato
Hello Peter,
It could be a hardware fault with the device, as it doesn't appear in your System Profile. Contact pinnacle about their exchange or return policies. Or it's not a supported device but if it came with EyeTV Lite, that's not likely. What is the make/model number?
There have been on/off customer reports of sleep problems using older versions of the full version of EyeTV (before 3.4) and OS 10.6. The 10.6.4 seemed to work for some customers but others report that this issue has not been resolved. There could be a bug in OS 10.6, but we are currently looking into possible solutions on our end.
Check your System Preferences --> Energy Saver settings and change them up. For example, sleep just the Display and not Display plus the CPU/other disks. One of my customers had success erasing the autowake preference. Go to Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration and delete "com.apple.AutoWake.plist".
Erase the Wakein component of EyeTV. The Wakein file is a support component used by EyeTV which coordinates EyeTV's scheduled recordings with the Energy Saver settings. This file is located at /Library/Application Support/EyeTV/Wakein. EyeTV will create a new Wakein file the next time it is launched.
You can also remove the EyeTV Helper program, which is involved in detecting EyeTV devices and passes that on to the EyeTV software. Find the EyeTV Helper (located in your hard drive/Library/Application Support/EyeTV folder). Then, start the Activity Monitor (located in Applications/Utilities), and find EyeTV Helper. Quit it. Then, erase EyeTV Helper from your hard drive. Start EyeTV and it will be reinstalled.
If you record in EyeTV, then manually go to the Apple menu and choose Sleep, does your Mac sleep or will it wake back up immediately?
Comments appreciated.

  • Eye strain and monitor types

    Hi folks,
first of all, i am a big fan of IBM/Lenovo T series thinkpads
Last week I bought a used T500 (22434EG) 15,4", 1280x800, and after using it for a few hours, i get eye strain and headache. My previoius machine was a T60 (1951FEG) with 15,1" 1024x768 and i could use it for days without any issues. I works in IT business, so i spend a lot of time with my computer.
Are there any further infos about these two monitors? I would like to compare them to identify what type of monitor/notebook sholud i buy, that fits my eyes. (I read a lot of PWM, LCD displays, LED/CCFL backlits)
The T500 monitor type is LEN4050, connector type: LVDS, device type: LFP, gamma : 2,2
I dont have any info about the T60, because i dont have it anymore. (I am working on it to get it back.)
    Thanks,
    Gellert

Increase color dept to 32bit? or reduce to 16 bit?
Increase refresh rate to 60Hz? or reduce to 50Hz?

  • MSI K8T Neo2 FIR and USB2

I am running MS Windows 2000 Pro with SP4 installed.  The only USB ports on the board that show USB2.0 status are the ones between the com ports and the ones under the LAN port.  All the others are relegated to USB1.0 status.  The device manager shows them the same way.  I have tried all the new drivers and nothing seems to work.  I find it rather strange that only 2 of the 8 avalible ports are USB2.O enabled.
If anyone can hlep me out with this I would appreciate it.

    Hi
Get Wonka to chase up MSI, he will have more clout, perhaps.
I will recheck that all the wires are onto pins on mine, it took  3 seperate attempts to get the Neo Clawhammer working, missing the pins with wires - I need one of those magnifyong lights, and a new set of eyes and fingers.
Check with Balarc Advisor or similar, that the USB2 driver update loaded OK, you might need to install it again.
Hi Wonka, the 9th wire safely tucked away, tnx.  BUT seeing how your here.  Apart from the 2 front USB on this Thermaltake Skull. I have a 4 port USB front drive bay unit inserted, the header is onto the JUSB1, having removed the D Bracket header. these units work on all other MSI boards, noticed when using Mem sticks, reports USB device nor recognised, plug into back its fine. • Retina Display MacBook Pro eye problem and strain

    Hi, the name is Ben
Recently, I boought a retina display and have since been having noticeable eye problem.
(strain, fatigue, oversensativity to computer monitor/screen ligthing)
My question was, has anyone been experiencing the same.
I use my computer pretty much all day, since my work/studies are all based on it.
Still, after 2 weeks of using retina display macbook pro, I have rapidely seen my eyes
starting to hurt, being oversensitive to computer monitor (not that I can't use any, but am
very sensitive to any lighting and need particular moderation in usage)
Now true, there ARE many good habits I did not know of before,(see some examples below)
that I am trying to adopt but still (reducing only in part the problem), I must say I am rather worried,
since I have never had any similar problem in 5 yearsof using my previous 13", macbook, mid 2007.
Any commments, or suggestion  (constructive of course) would be welcome.
(few examples of of good habits  I have tried so far)
    as regularly standing (/30 min),
look at something far away for 20 second (/20 min), blinking regularly, closing eyes for a moment,
adjusting lighting in work environnement, buying an antiglare film or device (nushield) , adjusting screen position,
not working to close to screen, using bigger fonts

an hour on my MBP by itself (someone else's office, a hotel room, an airplane, my lazy sofa) and my eyes lose the ability to focus --and I'm toast.
    Ok, I'll explain why.
First off your iPad and iPhone screen is smaller, thus doesn't reflect as much as a larger display will.
Your other displays are in a static environment where you have reduced the glare or it's been reduced just by chance.
When you take the glossy screen laptop to another location without adequate environmental features to reduce glare imposed (no overhead lights, closed windows, low light etc.) on the screen, thus your getting eyestrain from the glare.
It's caused by the slightly out of focus reflections verses the screen image, your eyes are automatically refocusing between the two images.
Your solution in this matter is to apply a anti-glare film to the laptops glossy screen, unfortunately it's going to cost money and be replaced often as it gets dirty, dries out and peels at edges etc.
Ideally a anti-glare matte screen would be the choice in the first place. I use my Mac for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and don't have the eyestrain problem anymore.

  • G4 and USB2 INSTALLATION

    Hi,
I bought this G4 in 2003 and at that time it was the best. Now I want to install USB2 and I have no clue what to do . I called an apple recommended dealer and he says that I can not update and just sell it and by new one. Is there any way to up grade this system USB ?

"Is there any particular brand which I need to buy for USB 2.0 PCI Card ?"
When purchasing a USB 2.0 card, the particular brand selected can make a difference (as has often been reported in these Forums). I've had good luck with the IOGEAR 2-port USB 2.0 PCI card in multiple Macs. It retails for $20 at most PC stores. The IOGEAR 5-port USB 2.0 PCI card provides 4 external ports and 1 internal. It retails for about $30. I recently purchased the ADS Technologies 5-port USB 2.0 PCI card, because it was sale-priced at $13 - but more importantly, it has the NEC controller chip. The IOGEAR 5-port card that I linked also does, but I'm not certain about their 2-port card. Many Forum users have reported better success with NEC chip-based USB 2.0 cards in their Macs, than similar cards having a VIA, OPTi, or other brand controller chip. Because many companies marketing the cards paste their corporate logo sticker over the face of the controller chip, you don't always know what you're getting. With the ADS Technologies card that I most recently purchased, that wasn't the case. The NEC name was clearly visible on the face of the chip. You can find one of these cards from any computer (PC) retailer - you don't need to limit your search to Mac-oriented merchants.

  • Help w/ Eye Diagrams and Mask Tests

I could use some experienced help here
So i have a scope capture of a representative signal that will be used in this VI.
I have several problems which i could use some help with.
    1) Trying to create an EYE diagram out of this waveform.  Because it is repeating i have already have the algorithm to chop it up into seperate 'waveforms', how would i go about displaying something like this as an eye diagram with the LV graphs?  I have tried everything i can think of, i cant just use build waveform or hardwire anything because the # of Voltage arrays will differ every time in real usage.
What i did is create a waveform chart, i build a waveform type w/ dt and the Y values and plug it in.  I was hoping to use the 'scope' setup as from the description in help seemed to do what i wanted, but it does not seem like it overlays onto the graph.
Basically i need a way to create a multiplot graph from X,Y coordinates and dynamically increment the number of plots until its done. Hopefully that makes sense.
    2) Eventually i also need to do a multi part mask test on this 'infinite persistence' signal if you were.  This shouldnt be too hard as i will have the arrays of voltage at my disposal from above that i can loop through.  My question regarding Mask tests is this, for this particular mask test there are 4 actual masks.  An upper & lower and 2 'eyes' that it must clear, it seems LV's express mask testing only lets you do a top/bottom mask.
What would be the best way to do mask tests like this?  Use the express VI and split it into 2 parts and 'and' them together?  Or would doing it more manually with some of the non express mask stuff prove to be easier?
I got many more questions but i'll stick with that for now   Thanks in advance!

Here they are... Note that in the SubVI I use an interpolate 1d that is available in 8.0.  I do that to stretch the points out some.
I would also suggest taking a look at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=183506&requireLogin=False

  • White Balance - Eye Dropper and Monitor Calibration

Does the eye dropper correctly set the white point even if the monitor is not correctly calibrated? I do calibrate monthly with the XRite but I'm not sure that the calibration is perfect.
I use a grey card, and the eye dropper in LR. So even though I calibrate - must the monitor be correctly calibrated for the eye dropper to work?
... and now tell me what monitor you love for photo editing.  Thanks

    Thanks for this answer,
I am using a Dell LCD monitor and have been happy with the color, but can not get skin tones right in my prints,  they look washed out after I do a grey card white balance.  So I just ordered a Eizo CG222WBK,  now I'll only have myself to blame if my images don't look right

  • Color Management - Different Lab-Values in Eye-One and PS4

After having calibrated my screen "Eizo" and my printer Epson 3800 for - in this case paper Tecco PL285 carefully, I reached almost exact the same Lab-values, as I checked the monitor profile, printer profile and messured the printed output with Eye-one - (Monitor-Profile, Print Profile PL285, Result Photoprint) see table below. Colorprofil ICC was Adobe1998 in all cases. My monitor is calibrated with Kelvin 5500, Gamma 2.2 and brightness 120.
BUT my question is - as I messured the colors direct in PS4 with the pipette (Photoshop messure), the Lab values were very much different. Can anybody explain me the different or tell me where to adjust ? - A pure "human-eye-control" with my eyes saw the colors as almost being alike, but trying to be perfect - I will be happy to learn about/solve this.

    Hello,
Set the rendering intent to absolute colorimetric in Photoshop's color settings. Otherwise, everything is stretched from L 0 to L 100.

  • Eye TV and SKY

Do Elgato Eye TV make a box that works with SKY's Freesat service?
I bought an Eye TV 410 a few months ago and it did not receive a signal. I was told that I needed to upgrade my aerial to a digital one in order to receive a freeview signal. (BTW a regular freeview box did not receive a signal either). I live in E2 in London so there is definately a signal here.
When I found that sky do a freesat service that is equivalent to freeview for a one-off payment of £150 that looked the way to go. A bargain compare to the £250 quoted for an aerial upgrade.
My question is does Elgato Eye TV make a box that works with SKY's Freesat service?

    Hi
If the EyeTV takes a Video signal input.. you can plug your video into it
and record/watch off it then yes SKY will work with it but limited.
Limited to you can only record what your watching and unlikly to
use a timer record option with it.
your 250 Aerial quote is a rip 0ff around here its around 100-150 pounds.
    (but then your in London)
Another cheaper option go buy an indoor aerial thats wideband that should
    grab a signal.

  • Imovie and USB2 CANON DC20 camcorder??????

    Hello,
I just purchased a Canon DC20 DVDcamcorder but imovie won't recognize the device? According to the directions, box, and included software the camcorder is compatible with iMovie. However, the camera only has a USB2 interface and according to other postings, imovie is not compatible with USB2 camcorders? I am very confused. How can Canon say the camera is compatible with imovie if the OS won't recognize a USB2 camcorder? Does anyone have experience with this issue? I am running tiger (10.4.2) If not, I am going to return the camera to best buy. Thanks for your help.
    Brett Miller

Well, if your camcorder only has a USB port, you might try using Image Capture to download the MPEG movies. This works with my digital still camera that also shoots low-quality MPEG movies, so I would think that it would work with a camcorder too. Image Capture is an application that allows you to tell the Mac what to do when you connect a USB device to the computer. Personally, I tell it to use Image Capture to open all of the still images. The MPEG movies show up in the thumbnail chart with the QT logo, but you can easily tell Image Capture where to download the movie. Once you do that, simply use MPEG Streamclip (Free) which will convert this movie file into a DV video clip for iMovie.

  • Zen Nano+ and USB2

Just got this little gadget and I'm very happy with it. Aside from backlight sound hiss (you guys at Creative really need some pointers in circuit design to separate noisy ground of backlight led with your D/A audio circuit ) which I disabled right away, I have a question about USB2.0 interface. I have used other USB2.0 compatible mp3 players without a problem of a true high speed transfer. Here, when I move my files to Nano+, the transfer speed is around 500kbps - that is not USB2.0!!! What's up with that? Also, when I'm connected to my laptop and transfering files, does my battery juice being used up or does a player works usb-powered than?
Overall, this player is really cool. Oh, when is the official firmware going to be released? Even a copy of a current firmware for a backup is a must. Common guys, put it in your download page. And, last but not least, would be nice to see a firmware update to support OGG files. How about it's Of course, I assume backlight noise is your hardware poor design problem, so I probably shouldn't hold my breath of a firmware fix :smileyvery-happy:

It sounds slow. Can you test on another PC?
It will use power from the PC/laptop when connected.

  • Terrible eye strain and vision problems

HP recently gave me a replacement to a Pavillion w/ Windows 7.
The brand new twice as expensive laptop had 8.1
For two weeks the screen was hazy, they replace the monitor, then sent me a new computer.
It too was hazy although less.  After 2 weeks my eyes hurt so bad, I returned it and kept my old 7.1 which is quite clear and sharp.
My eyes are having serious issues, I always had 20x20.  Now there is strain in my eyes and my vision is hampered.
    I want to sue.......
What can I do??????  Where to begin????
I even went to Best Buy and looked at 3 HP's two of them were completely hazed the $1000 one was clear.
But all were 8.1.  This is a serious problem.

What can I do??????  Where to begin????
Look up the specifications for your particular computer model's display.  Specifically, find out what the "native" screen resolution
is.  All LCDs have a "native" or "for best results" or "recommended" resolution.  It will be expressed in pixels (e.g., something like "1366 x 768 pixels").
Now, with the computer on and showing the desktop, right-click in an open space on the desktop and choose
    Screen Resolution.
Does the displayed Resolution: value you see there match your native screen resolution?
If not, and you change it to make it match, then OK out of the dialog, does it look better?
