What is the best way to export from Eye TV Hybrid – to iMovie HD 6.0.3
I transferred from a VHS tape to the Eye TV Hybrid.
Can I drag and drop from the Eye TV Programs window?

The best way is to avoid Eye TV altogether, as it records highly compressed.

Watching TV recorded with Eye TV Hybrid on a TV via DVD player

Hello, I need a little help. I have found out on other threads how to take a TV show recorded on my iMac via Eye TV Hybrid and export it to iDVD and burn a DVD to watch on my TV. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and what the quality is on your TV? Is it comparable to recording a show with your VCR, or is it all pixally?
Also, if anyone has a better way of getting the recorded shows to DVD for TV viewing I am all ears.

if the app support the old AV out type then yes
otherwise no because iphone4 does not support airplay mirror
and even if it did then the iplayer could block the airplay mirror feature if they choose

Trouble getting eye TV hybrid installed

I just bought elgate eye TV hybrid for my iMac and when I plug in their device, my iMac dose not see it.
I am running 10.6.6 and my wife is running 10.6.5 there is no issue with her iMac. Other then being to small. I have a 27 inch and she has the 23 inch.
I also have the SSD drive also.
Has anyone else have trouble installing programs on their iMac.

Works ok on my 27", 10.6.6. Eyetv 3.5(6514).
Try unplugging the usb and replugging.

Elegato Eye TV Hybrid under Vista

Hi all,
I'm running Vista x64 under BootCamp. I have an Elegato Eye TV Hybrid attached to my Mac Pro. Under Windows Vista this is recognised as a Hauppauge HVR-950.
I have tried to install the drivers for this without any success. Sadly to say Hauppauge's Win TV software is flaky and badly written looks like an understatement.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had successfully got their Elegato Eye TV Hybrid working under Boot Camp (and Vista specifically)...???

Elgato EYE TV recording export to FCE 4.0

Hello,
Quick question ( maybe not so quick ). I know analog cable TV is interlaced. Does final cut require that video clips from a live TV recording ( from eyetv) be de-interlaced before editing and exporting ? I notice if I don't do this fast motion comes out to poor to watch. I get a strobing like effect.

I am still a bit confused, being a former Windows PC person editing with Sony Vegas 7.0. Final Cut is a bit different. Perhaps you could give me a few pointers. i want to record TV using Elgato Eyetv hybrid, export the recording into Final Cut Express, edit commercials out, add chapters export into iDVD and burn. When doing this with sporting events I get bad motion blurring making the DVd unwatchable. Any help with what the best settings are would be appreciated.

Elgato Eye TV Hybrid S-Video signal shows no colors

Hi,
I have an Elgato Hybrid for my MBP. When I connect my Sony dvd-recorder to it (thru S-Video) I get a sharp picture but it only shows in black and white. No colors.
I have a professional scart to S-Video cable. Someone suggested me to change the settings of my MBP but I don't know where or how this can be done.
Perhaps I have to alter the settings of Eye TV as well? I don' really know.
Settings are correct; Eye TV input is set to S-Video

Seems the settings of my dvd-recorder were not correct: when I changed them to S-Viseo out all was working well.

Eye tv hybrid usb stick crashes

I bought an eyetv hyvrid usb stick and installed the program, but everytime I branch the usb stick my computer crashes on the moment the eye tv program searches for channels : It's a Darwin Kernel version 8.2.1
I allready did the following things (without succces) :
1) I reinstalled eye tv
2) I reinstalled tiger
3) I reset the powermanager
4) I reset the PRAM
5) Possibly th problem is caused by my airport extreme, but how I can remove this airport card (it's not under the keyboard!)
Does anyone recognize this problem?

Eye Tv Hybrid, what speed needed

Here in sunny South Africa people avoid me in the street if I ask about Tv sticks !! Knowing extremely little, can someone help about the minimum download speed I would need for this Elgato product to be of any use here. I am with Telkom at 384Kbs. Our broadcasters , Multichoice, Mnet and phone people MTN and Vodacom are currently running tests here with DVB. And no , the Apple shop in Johannesburg do not have a clue what I'm talking about !! After exporting from Final Cut, video is brighter

I've recently shot some footage that is actually kinda dark. shot it at night with some lights of mine. it looks great in Final Cut while i'm editing it. the light seems fine. i get nice fall off's of sides of faces and i have the rest of the face all black. it's beautiful.
when i go to export the video (export - quicktime movie - current settings) and watch it back in quicktime, it's lighter. not extremely lighter, but to the point where in final cut it looks like someone's face is so black i can't see their eyes, then i export it, and now i can make out their eyes.
what's going on here?
if i left any information out please let me know and i'll help supply all the information necessary

will that make any difference if i upload the video to youtube or vimeo? will i need to make sure that i have that option selected in quicktime before i upload it to youtube? or does it not matter if i have that selected or not when i upload?
i just hope that it looks like it should when i send this file somewhere else where it's not playing on quicktime

Trouble recording with my eyetv hybrid stick

I use an eye tv hybrid stick to watch tv and tape some tv programmes once in a while.
Watching tv works fine, but when I record programmes I get short disturbing noises.
In another discussion group I was told that these noises must be "broken GOPs" due to poor reception, so I should try to improve the signal I get from the areal.
So I replaced all cables from the areal to the eyetv device by shielded cables and installed an amplifier.
The result was a better picture on some of the poorer channels - but still I get the annoying noises! And only when I am recording, there are no disruptions when I just watch a program.
I get the same noises when I am recording from my VHS recorder.
Any suggestions what I could do?

Import VHS Tapes to DVD and iMovie

I have many old VHS tapes I want to finally digitize so I don't lose them. Most are old football games, generally between 1-2 hours per tape. I am working off of a new iMac - 27inch 3.1gHz 1TB hard drive.
I want to do 2 things:
1 - Backup each tape to a high quality DVD for backup purposes - to be played in a DVD player
2 - Store lower quality versions on my iMac hard drive to be viewed/ edited/ possibly uploaded to YouTube or other web based video sites
I have iMovie, and would like the ability to edit if possible - nothing major, ading scores, dates, etc...and possibly manipulating video (cropping of scenes, etc...) but not much.
I have researched and found a few different options. Most threads I have read seem to indicate the need for one of the following:
Canopus ADVC300
Canopus ADVC55
Elgato Eye TV Hybrid
I am willing to spend $100 - $200, but this I'd rather not go crazy. At a certain point it would just be easier to sed them away to be professionally archived to DVD.
Any advice?

To get your VHS video into iMovie, use the Grassvalley ADVC300. With the ADVC300 Audio and Video go in, FireWire comes out. It also comes with a nice Macintosh application that works flawlessly with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11 (I have used it a few times with iMovie 11).
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material. The ADVC300 will take Audio and Video from any source (VCR, Tivo, Satellite Receiver) and convert it to FireWire (iMovie will treat it like a camera).

I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11, why?
iMovie 09/11 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses ALL of the image to form the video.
If your primary workflow is editing DV clips and making DVDs, iMovie '06 is better suited.
Your movie will arrive at iDVD in DV format, which is an ideal match for making a DVD: same resolution, same pixels aspect ratio, and original quality. If you share your movie from iMovie 09/11, it gets re-rendered at 640x480 or less, and then iDVD upscales it back to 720x480. The end result is obviously not as good.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 11 is a "lossless" combination.

How do I import a graphic image as title card?

I'm trying to create a title card in Fireworks, export it, and import it into iMovie.
I'm wondering what type of image it should be, how large, and how it can be imported into iMovie.
I"d rather not use the system's title card creator, as I don't like the background color options.
I'm using iMovie 11.

I generally use Keynote to create some of my more elaborate titles (say, for wedding videos). I usually set the slide size to 1280 x 720 and save as a jpeg. You can also create animated titles and export them as a .mov file for use in iMovie. Most of my editing work involves HD clips imported as HD 1920 x 1080, but I find that using 1280 x 720 produces excellent results. All text is crisp and all graphics are immaculate (at least to my eyes).
After exporting from Keynote I import the jpeg files to iPhoto. Then in iMovie I click on the Photo Browser and drag the images into the timeline, dropping them into their appropriate position.
You can also drag images from any location on the hard drive (Desktop, for example). But I prefer to have them in iPhoto as I'm unlikely to move them from that location. If you move media files after importing them to iMovie, it's almost certain that iMovie will lose the link.
I'm not familiar with Fireworks, but thought a brief outline of my experience with Keynote may be helpful.

OS Lion - Difference image quality in EyeTV with new user account?

My computer has been crashing ever since installing Lion, mainly on the Mail app it appears, so I created a new user account and have set that up to use.
I have an Elgato Eye TV Hybrid with EyeTv for watching TV. The image settings are the same on both user accounts, but the new user account is extremely grainy. Any ideas about why it would be different on multiple accounts?

quite as yr office person says. It would be wrong to remove all the apps. I would not be sure what ElGato can mean when they say the test user has no apps!. Elgato (?) will need to use some apps for it's normal operation, and the more general user functions will as well. You would msee in yr 'Parentalo controls, in sys prefs pane that there are 'helper apps' that you can allow or not to any controlled user. So there are helper apps.
You can 'turn off' lots of system extensions with a special boot up but won't Elgato need some of them? It is after all the operation of Elgato that you want to test.
The usual dodgy 'apps' are starup items like so called haxies which moderate certain basic system operations. You could start by disabling the.
You might care to consider that Elagto is shoveling the blame onto 'the rest of the world' saying it 'is something else',but I may be wrong.

Compress MPEG for Toast

I exported some video through Eye TV using the export/for Toast option, which I have done successfully in the past. This time the MPEG file turned out to be 3.36 GB, when I try to burn to DVD with Toast 6 Titanium I receive an error message that the file is too large. Is there any way to export the MPEG and create a video_ts file that I can use Popcorn to compress and burn or simply compress the file to a size that Toast can manage? I really don't want to split the movie into two parts.

When I played through Eye TV and exported, the option I usually use if "for Toast" and this is what is stated:
"Creates a file suitable for burning with Toast. For MPEG- 1/2 content a program stream will be created. For MPEG-4 or DivX content an AVI file will be created.
Video: MPEG, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Audio: MPEG, Stereo, 48000 Hz
Duration: 1:52:04, Estimated Size 3.5 GB (552 KB/sec)"
I am using Toast Titanium 6, (I have been putting off updating software as I am likely to own on of the Intel Macs later this year and do not want to spend a bundle on software that may be incompatable, maybe being a bit over cautious).

Keynote in Pasive (or Active) 3d

I have been using Keynote for a while to create great looking 3D protestations.
Creating a master Keynote and tweaking it to create Real 3D look. Left eye and then Right eye. Then exporting as quicktime.
Taking in to Final cut with a custom sequence IE 1280 x 720 = 1280 x 1440.
Moving Right on top and left to bottom. Exporting as a WMV and using Stereoscopic viewer on the PC to view with Geforce 3D.
All very time consuming and very easy for todays hardware to do. (We live a 3D GPU age).
I have alot of features I want to add to Keynote to enable 3D to become alot easier.
A way of moving object in a 3d space (Not 2D)
Make the transitions to look like true 3D.
Exporting right and left eye (Right on top and left on the bottom) from 1 presentation.
Jump between Left eye, Right eye and Central (Central would only be be used for 2D presentations and proofing).
I know this is very specialist but I how this could even benefit 2d presentation with moving object on the Z axis.
Please someone on the Keynote team contact me. This is a game changer (Now that powerpoint 2010 does good transitions)
