Eye Tv Hybrid, what speed needed

Here in sunny South Africa people avoid me in the street if I ask about Tv sticks !! Knowing extremely little, can someone help about the minimum download speed I would need for this Elgato product to be of any use here. I am with Telkom at 384Kbs. Our broadcasters , Multichoice, Mnet and phone people MTN and Vodacom are currently running tests here with DVB. And no , the Apple shop in Johannesburg do not have a clue what I'm talking about !! Thanks, Duncan

The best way is to avoid Eye TV altogether, as it records highly compressed.

If you insist using Eye TV, you have to look in the manual for EXACTLY which format it records in. There are hundreds of formats out there.

  • Recording with audio playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into real time?

Ive recorded a test video with audio/music playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into "real" time?
If I'd slowed the audio playback down 50% I would make the video 100% faster.
If I'd slowed the audio playback down 100% I would make the video 200% faster.
So its obviously somewhere inbetween speeding up by 100-200%
Sorry but its melting my brain today and I cant remember the calculation.
    thanks

    hey all
Thanks for the advise on this. I will explain a little more what am have/am intending to do.
I have used Audacity to slow the song down (Effect>Change Tempo)
Audacity will allow me slow the original song down by up to 99% (Or anything in-between up to 3 decimal places)
Unfortunately I am working to a time restraint of 12 minutes per clip (as my DSLR will only allow up to a 12 minute clip).
The song at normal speed is 4 minutes long.
Originally I slowed the audio down by 50% (Making the audio 8 minutes long), lip synced to it using a rasta blaster and recorded the video using my DSLR at 720p 50fps.
I then imported the video and audio I had been lip syncing to into FCPX.
I sped up the video by x2 (equivalent to speeding it up 200%)
    Retime>Fast 2X
Layered the PROPER normal speed audio back over the top and all was fine.
    Test video complete.
(You can ignore the 65% slowed down audio I mentioned earlier if you like, that was just an example of a slower than 50% audio test)
Firstly what I really want to do is to be able to slow the AUDIO down as much as possible (But still within the restraints of only being able to adjust FCPX retiming within a whole 1 percentage in the final video edit), but have the AUDIO of the song as near to/under 12 minutes as possible.
I will then re-record the video again to this new slowed down audio.
Secondly I will speed up the video from 12 minutes to 4 minutes.
Thirdly I will layer the correct 100% Normal AUDIO on top.
The FINISHED video should then look like everyone is wizzing around at high speed but the guitar playing/lyrics look like they are being played/sung at the normal speed.
Whatever happens (due to the constraints of FCPX) I need the calculations to work so that FCPX is retimed exactly to a whole 1% for the final video to sync up correctly.
So what I need to know in a nut shell is:-
What calculation do I use to work out the percentage to slow a 4 minute song down to a 12 minute song?
What calculation do I use to work out the percentage of how much I need to then speed the 12 minute video up to turn it back into a 4 minute video?
    My mind is melting

    Hi,
From your description, my understanding is that you have some doubts about SAN.
If you have a SAN, you can leverage it to make SharePoint
a little easier to manage and to tweak SharePoint's performance. From a management standpoint, SANs make it easy to adjust the size and number of SharePoint's hard disks. What you could refer to this blog:

  • Watching TV recorded with Eye TV Hybrid on a TV via DVD player

Hello, I need a little help. I have found out on other threads how to take a TV show recorded on my iMac via Eye TV Hybrid and export it to iDVD and burn a DVD to watch on my TV. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and what the quality is on your TV? Is it comparable to recording a show with your VCR, or is it all pixally?
Also, if anyone has a better way of getting the recorded shows to DVD for TV viewing I am all ears.
    Thank you

if the app support the old AV out type then yes
otherwise no because iphone4 does not support airplay mirror
and even if it did then the iplayer could block the airplay mirror feature if they choose

  • What is needed to network 2 computers using Airport card

I know I need an airport card in my eMac, but is there any other cards that have to be in the computer? I want to network my eMac with an iMac using a DSL line. The eMac will be downstairs and the iMac will be upstairs. I'm waiting for delivery from Apple of the iMac. It has everything built in that is needed to network but my eMac doesn't. To make my eMac wireless is all I have to buy is an Airport Card and a Wireless Gateway for the iMac which is the computer connected to the DSL modem and Wireless USB adapter with connects to the eMac? What type of Airport Card do I need to buy for my eMac (model #'s etc.) It is the card that inserts above the super drive in the front of the computer. Is there any software that is needed to install Airport?

I am also doing some configuration changes (we have one Imac and two eMac's)
but one eMac does not have a airport card and is hardwired (ethernet) to the high speed cable modem then a apple airport. One Imac and the Emac with a airport card work fine, it is a bit tricky finding the correct airport card (or airport extreme card if you have a ATI graphics card (use about the mac/system profiler then click on more to see if you have a graphics card (which affects which airport card you need, there are alot of resellers on the net so you should find what you want.
If in doubt there is a free program mactracker which provides data on every mac made (available off off versiontracker.com (free site just register) it will guide
you on the type of card needed. I was quite amazed at the amount of different spec eMac's made in their relativealy short history.
Macwireless.com does sell eMac cards (for two models) but also antenna type
or flash drive appearing USB based wireless connectors that may help.
I found the mactracker program helpful (alot) as alot of web sites provide some vague info and I would hate to se you get stuck with a non returnable card.
The actual card install does not look hard (its done through the cd rom drive door.
I am not sure why we did not get a airport card for ours when we bought it.
Wish I did as it would have saved some $ (maybe) and surf time making sure I find the right one.
We did have a antenna wireless antenna for a "green" Imac (long gone) and it ran on OS9 but it was finicky when we had the airport base station upstairs
and the Imac and antenna in the basement (about 50-75 feet)
    Best of luck
Hope this helps, I am not a expert, the serial number on the cd drawer will
nail down the model you have and what you need.
We have been working adding a laser printer and airport express and the two macs with cards work fine but the Emac with no card can not be set up yet. The laser printer will sure save on ink!

  • Elegato Eye TV Hybrid under Vista

    Hi all,
I'm running Vista x64 under BootCamp. I have an Elegato Eye TV Hybrid attached to my Mac Pro. Under Windows Vista this is recognised as a Hauppauge HVR-950.
I have tried to install the drivers for this without any success. Sadly to say Hauppauge's Win TV software is flaky and badly written looks like an understatement.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had successfully got their Elegato Eye TV Hybrid working under Boot Camp (and Vista specifically)...???
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with the eyetv hybrid on a Mac Pro Intel running Leopard. Did you resolve the problem? I am working with Elgato support so we'll see what they say...

  • What brand DVD+R do you recomend and what speed for PE11?

I do not know why some brands like Memorex work with my PE11 and others like Sony do not.  I do not know what speed 8X the program can handle?  What are the pros and cons of using different speeds on results?
    Thanks

    Rich
    Thanks for the follow up.
    As for
What kind of disc can I record on today and then add to it tomorrow with some additional footage?
You cannot do that with any burn to in Premiere Elements (any version).
    In Premiere Elements....
    1. The DVD-R allows for one burn to on the disc all at one time.
    2. The DVD-RW will allow you to use the disc again after a Premiere Elements burn to to it, but it will overwrite (erase) what was burned
to the disc in the prior session. No add on.
If you are in the Elements Organizer 11 and using one of its burn to data disc opportunities (See File Menu/"Copy/Move to Removalble Disc"), you could explore the multisession possibility by enabling the preference for multisession. (See Edit Menu/Preferences/Files and the option for "Enable Multisession Burning to CD/DVD.)
I would suggest that you look into the Premiere Elements Project Archiver feature where the project file (project.prel) is saved with its source media. This might be a consideration for add on chances.

  • OBIEE with Essbase as datasource-what I need to know

I am getting into a project where Essbase is the datasource. I know nothing about Essbase but I an experienced OBIEE prof. Can anyone tell me the things I need to know about integrating Essbase with OBIEE, using Essbase cubes in obiee. I looking for some basic fundamentals of Essbase so I could successfully use Essbase cubes with OBIEE.
I find lot of materials online but not sure what I need to know for using Essbase as datasource for OBIEE. Any insight / links would be of lot of help. Thanks a million

It really depends on what you plan to do and which products in the stack you're going to use for what. If you intend to use Essbase as an aggregation layer to speed up you analysis, then you should look into learning more about fine-tuning your Essbase applications in terms of data loads, aggregation, optimizing calculations,...in terms of languages MDX and MaxL.
If you're looking to integrate applications like Workspace as well then you'll have to look at those as well.
Both areas are vast in terms of applications and functionalties so I'd suggest learning the basics and then deepening your know-how according to needs.
    Cheers,
    C.

N.B, My PC is a an Windows Xp, the latest

Usually slowness after one upgrade requires disabling hardware acceleration, or a possible new regression (hopefully not).
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
    * Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    * In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
    * In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    * Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]

  • BluRay - what you need

Thought I'd put a list of things you need for one's MacPro in order to get BD authoring with output to SL and DL BD media. With the drop in BD Media prices ($4.99/disk), everyone can author HD content to BluRay now using FCS (or iMovie or whatever video post production tool you have).
So here is what you need:
    1. Toast 10 Titanium Pro - http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
    2. LG GGW-H20L Blu-ray burner - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136137
    3. AMS eSATA 5.25" external enclosure - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817332019
    4. eSATA cable Extender for MacPro - http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MPQXES2/
Total cost is $455 for a complete solution. This is an external eSATA setup (I did this for maximum BD drive burning performance) but if you prefer USB 2.0 setup just remove item 4 ($25) from the list above (the external enclosure supports USB 2.0 also).
BD-R prices are dropping daily ($4.99) but I use these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817132051
Some things you need to know if you go with eSATA, the drive MUST be turned ON BEFORE you boot into your Mac or it will not be seen. The drive will show up just like any other DVD drive with all the same Eject/Close features, etc.
For those of you going eSATA route, installing the eSATA extender cable is not difficult, but if you're the type of person that doesn't want to touch anything inside your MacPro, then the USB 2.0 route is probably better (aka don't purchase item #4 above).
If you are running CS4, you don't need item #1 (Toast 10). So you could really start doing BD now for as little as $300.
Happy BD folks - 25-50GB of entertainment bliss
    Rob.

I've been using the cheap BD-R and not had any coasters yet, but I don't burn at max speed -- the drive will burn at 6X, but the cheap media says 2X so that's what I burn at. I haven't tried Dual layer nor the Re-writeable BD media yet, but great success with single layer.
I don't consider adding the eSATA extender cable that difficult but I've built PCs from scratch before so I have some knowledge. But like I said, if eSATA is a little too much work, the external enclosure I listed also supports USB 2.0. I prefer eSATA because it's a more reliable electrical signal and is not sharing a bus like USB.
I have an older Sony BDP-S300 player that I recently updated the firmware (had to in order to play The Matrix collection BD). No problems with playback, crisp, clean clear -- well, as clear as the source that is

  • What speed/s of CD and DVD do I buy??

    Hey
    I'm using a superdrive eMac (10..3.9)
I'm going to buy some blank CDs and DVDs for buring and I was wondering which CDs to buy. If you need to know what speed my CD is please tell me where to look and what to click on to find out!
    Thank You!

    First, welcome to the discussions.
There are so many things that can affect your burning expieriance.
    Format,
    Speed of the Media,
    Software you use,
    Burner Installed on your Mac
2 very important points to remember
CD-R and DVD-R Media are the most widely recognised and used across the board, for both optical drives(Burners) and Players.
SPEED of the Media doesn't seem to be an issue with CD.
    Speed, is however with DVD.
The older DVD Burners are only capable of burning at 1X and 2X speed.
Many of these burners need you to use a very slow speed media.
It is very hard to find this slow media. There is a better allternitive.
All CD and DVD Media Manufactures boast of reverse compatibilty.
So again this is not a biggy for CD's but how different for DVD's.
Now a days, just about everything you see is 8X or 16X
Again all boast of being reverse compatible, meaning in the perfect world you can use 8X or 16X media on your Superdrive.
HOWEVER CHEAP MEDIA is a problem where this is concerned.
Follow this Media Guide, when buying.
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
I have a 2 year old powerbook with a Matshita UJ 815 it will only burn at 4X MAX, most of the time only 2X.
I done suffered all of the same problems as everyone has in finding the best for copying.
I did a ton of homework to learn all I could about the subject.
I gave you the Media Guide.
    I use MAXELL 16X DVD-R Media
Use caution when purchasing media. Read the packaging be sure that it will burn 1X,2X,4X,8X,16X.
Always let your Software determine your burning speed.
To start off do not choose burn speed manually.
Here is another very important link to read throughly.
There is a lot of information to digest, take your time and familuarize your self with terms and definitions.
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvd
Sorry, I was a little windy, but it will be to your advantage to learn all you can.
    Cheers Don

    1. A 13" screen is awfully small to do any efficient editing. The 15" gives you significantly more on-screen real estate.
    2. All of the MacBook Pros can run FCE. However the graphics processor in the 13" model will limit some functionality with effects. See Tom's earlier comment.
    3. Not much difference. All these cpu's are fast. There will be more overall system performance gain from the quad core at the slower speed.
    4. FCE cannot use more than 4GB RAM anyway, so the 4GB that comes with every MBP is more than adequate. If you expect to use Aperture or CS5 then go for more RAM, otherwise there's not much reason to add RAM. You will be better off spending your money upgrading to the 7200rpm hard drive.
    5. Everything will be smaller on the high res screen; there are just more pixels (1680x1050) on the same 15.4" screen area. (I have a 15" MBP with the standard 1440x900 screen and it is beautiful.)

  • What wires need to be upgraded in my apartment?

I need to find out how to upgrade the internal wires in my apartment complex so that my tenants' DSL connections can operate at advertised speeds.
I've tried calling Verizon, but I think they require that I be a customer, but since I'm calling for my tenants, I haven't been able to have the call center agents help me.
My tenants told me that when they had field tech support reps come by the building, they were told that their extremely slow internet speeds were because of old wiring in the building.
But since I'm not a customer, I'm not sure I can have Verizon send a field support rep over.  Is there any way to find out what wiring needs to be fixed in my building?  Can Verizon help me with this, or do I need to do this on my own?

Second the low voltage electrician advice. I'd hire your own contractor to make the connection from the Verizon NIDs for your tenants to the wall jacks in their units.
To make sure the slow DSL isn't due to the lines in the apartment, if you have access to the NIDs, have one of the tenants bring their modem down and connect the modem to the NID. If you can pull the modem Transceiver statistics (pretty much every modem but the D-Link from Verizon has a known way to pull this info), use these stats as a comparison for how much the connection has improved. A speed improvement may not be seen since Verizon (or an automated system of theirs known as ASSIA) may have capped off the speed for line stability.
