Eyedropper Shift/Control on curves RGB

The eyedropper tool using Shift/Control does not index on the curves adjustment in CS6.
It use to work for me in CS5.
Am I doing something wrong or have they changed the short cut keys?
Details:
I am portrait photography and I color correct by the numbers in CYMK via the Info pallet.
1-Use the Color Sample tool to drop a sampling spot.
2-Open Curves layer in RGB.
3-Grab Eyedropper Tool and use to Shift/Control Click to drop a pin on the R, G, B channels to adjust color with CS5.
Cannot get the eyedropper to index on any of the curve channels in CS6.
Any suggestions?

wmphotos is correct.
When you used the eyedropper tool in previous versions a shift-click will set a point on the photo.  A control-click visualizes the point on the curves panel for the channel curve that is displayed.  A control-shift-click establishes a point on all three channels of the curve (red, green and blue).
The control-click and control-shift-click do not set any points.  Setting these points on the curve is the best way to correct color.  This need to be fixed, or its a deal-breaker to me.

  • In Dreamweaver CC code view, how do I reenable shift-control+arrow keys to select words?

In previous versions of Dreamweaver (for Windows but presumably for other operating systems as well) and in pretty much any other text editor (except maybe for vi/m but including the one I'm using to write this message in now). I can select characters using shift plus the arrow keys and select words by pressing shift-control plus the arrow keys. It seems you now have to use shift-alt to select words. I don't want to have to undo about 25 years of habit just for Dreamweaver.
Please say this is an easy setting I can uncheck somewhere! Thanks!

That is an issue that has come up a lot lately...

Holding down the control key will invoke "right-click."
Depending on the View, holding down Shift will with either toggle the selection (Icon View), or it will make a continuous selection from the previous selection (List View or Column View).
The only way to make a continuous selection in Icon View is to drag out a selection marquee around or through the icons.
I can't remember the behavior of previous OS's.

  • Press power button once - MBP goes to sleep, Shift-Control-Media Eject (⏏) doesn't.

Hello, i've read here http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20131025154203251 and somewhere else, that in Mavericks, pressing the Power Button once, puts your screen to sleep.
But after reading here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5869 seems that it doesn't.
I also noticed that by pressing it once, your mac goes to sleep, but not immediatly.
So is the only way to put only the screen to sleep is by using Shift-Control-Media Eject (⏏) ?
    Thank you

@speleofool Thanks for posting and congratulations on the new device! The Nexus is a great phone! Regarding your issue about waking up, this is very odd for a new device. I did some research and it seems this is not a known issue with the phone. I would recommend doing the following steps:
    Settings>Apps>Choose all Apps>choose System UI>clear data>force stop.
This will stop your screen from freezing and wake up when it should. I would make it a practice to clear data from apps that give you trouble. I hoped this helps. Thanks.

  • Shift-Control-F Does not hightlight text

In older versions of Acrobat Reader, using shift control F would open the search window. If you have already searched, then text would appear in the search window. If you want to search with a new keyword, just press shift control F again and the old text is highlighted so you can write over it. In version 8 and 9 you have to manually erase the text. It was much more efficient in the older version. Is there a preference that can be set. This is a big negative so I don't use the new versions. 99% of what I do is searching for text, so version 8 and 9 are not usable for me.

  • Every time i start my MacBook Air i get the spinning wheel and have to soft boot (shift, control, option, power) it three or four time s before it starts

Every time i start my MacBook Air i get the spinning wheel and have to soft boot (shift, control, option, power) it three or four time s before it starts. It has only been over the last week or so I also found Safari will not load up and tyou have too open then shut from the drop down then restart it to get a page, any help pleas?

    Do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall
Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

  • [T510] Keyboard combination Shift-Control-X not supported?

I think that on my T510 laptop the keyboard combination Shift-Control-X is unmanageable. When I press this keyboard combination before booting any operation system (i.e. after the bios start screen disappears) I get a system warning sound. I cannot use this keyboard combination in my operating system (Windows 7).
Other similar keyboard combinations are possible (e.g. Shift-Control-Y); there is no warning sound. There is no problem to use this combination in Windows 7.
I would like to use Shift-Control-X. Could it be supported by e.g. a Bios update or is it just not possible because of hardware restrictions?
    Thorsten

That makes sense.  What you are really asking is how you can program your T510 keys in various combinations. Such things are normally application specific.  Have you tried here:

  • Shift+control+A conflicts between FF4 and blogger: When I want to create a hyperlink, the add-on tab opens.

Blogger has long used Shift+Control+A as the keyboard command for inserting hyperlinks. Now that I've switched to FF4, I discover that it's also the command for opening the add-ons tab. I can still create a hyperlink but every time I do, I have to close the add-on tab. This is a nuisance when writing a link-heavy post. Since I blog regularly on several different Blogger pages, the annoyance factor is growing regularly.
I checked the Keyboard Shortcuts page and read, "Firefox does not provide any method of customizing keyboard shortcuts." Is this absolute? If so, I suggest deleting or changing the FF4 hotkey since Blogger has years of precedence with this command.

    Scott,
You don't need to use a digital line to create a TTL pulse. The PCI-6025E has two onboard general purpose counters. You can use one of these counters to create a single pulse of the desired pulse width. For an example of how to program the counters on your board, refer to LabVIEW's Search Examples>>I/O Interfaces>>Counters>>Pulse Generation>>DAQ-STC based.
The advantage of using a counter over the digital line is that it allows you to control the timing of the pulse through hardware and not software. Thus, it is inherently faster, and the timing resolution is more accurate. The counter will count down an internal 20 MHz timebase to create the pulse delay and the pulse width.
For more information on the hardware capabilities of your board, you can refe
r to the User Manual online at www.ni.com/manuals.
    Hope this helps.

  • Shift Control run produces errors in vi

I am using a VI that I would like to compile into a DLL. The first thing that the help tells you to do is to perform a Shift-Control-Run to compile all of the VIs and sub-vis in memory. When I do this I get notification of a bunch of missing VIs. This VI runs just fine by itself and will operate the 6224 DIO card that I am controlling. But when I do this Shift-Control-Run, it asks for a bunch of un-relavent DAQmx VIs that are not being used at all by the VI. If I continue and ignore these files, it gives me the broken arrow at the run button.
I need to know how to exclude these un-relavent DAQmx files from the VI and compile the DLL with no errors. The VI is a very simple VI that sends out an array of 7 booleans to set bits on a 6224.
    Thanks

    Hi jfeetham,
I am not familiar with Shift+Ctrl Run-where did you find this command?
It's a standard way of forcing a recompile of a VI. It's also in the LabVIEW Help: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvhowto/preparing_vis_to_build_app_dll/
As for the question: what's happening is that you're forcing a complete recompile of the top-level VI as well as all other subVIs. Some of these may be polymorphic VIs. Thus, the likely thing that's happening is that the VIs that are being sought are other instances of those polymorphic VIs. Strictly speaking, you don't really need to do the Ctrl-Shift click on Run arrow. This is sometimes used to ferret out problems with peculiar behaviors of VIs that may be due to compilation issues. I know I've never done it when building apps and source distributions, and building a DLL falls into that same category.

  • Shift + Control + Click not working

When I hold down shift + control and then click, it acts as if I'm simply right-clicking. This is making it hard to do assignments for my Graphic Layout class.
Some information (if more is needed, I'd be glad to provide it):
-I'm running the latest version of CS 5.5 for InDesign (7.5.2).
-I have nothing running besides InDesign (no browsers, nothing at all).
-I'm doing this on my laptop (MacBook Pro). I have Parallels (virtual machine software) running Windows 7 and I have InDesign on the Windows side.
-Both my Mac and Windows are completely up to date.
Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

Are you usually using a pc? Holding down the control key on a mac and clicking pops up the right-click menu in all software, it's a system wide convention (and a relic from the days Apple insisted that users should only be using a single mouse button).
To get the result you are probably looking for, i.e., overrriding a master page item, hold down *Command* and shift on the Mac.

  • Shift/Control - What is it?

Acclimating to my new home in Logic 9.
Where in the manual does it explain the workings of Shift/Control. In the arrange window, when these two keys are held down the cursor turns into a quad-pointer item. One can sort of throw the display around but it's an odd gizmo.
    Any explanation of this thing?

[Selecting the working area|http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicpro/usermanual/index.html#chapter=4 %26section=5%26tasks=true] go at the bottom of the page when you click on the link.
It's not a new function,it has been there since Logic 6 maybe earlier, can't remember exactly.
It's great if you have a trackball mouse or a mighty mouse etc you can scroll fast in any desired direction and it's really handy when you have large projects.

  • How do I get capslock, shift, control, option, and command to work normal?

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard onto a new hard drive and restored the rest of my machine from a Time Machine backup.
The behavior of capslock, shift, control, option, and command have changed and are freaking driving me nuts.
Every time I hit shift/control/option/command an image of the key flashes up on the top right of my screen. I want this to stop and go back to a normal keyboard.
Also, the caps lock is no longer doing sane basic behavior like "Tap once for on, then again for off" like every other 3 billion keyboards on the planet. Now its doing this insane thing where I have to double tap it to turn it on, then again to turn it off, but sometimes it doesn't go off.
How do I get the keyboard in 10.6 to just simply act normal again?

Sounds as if you have Sticky keys turned on.
Turn of via System Prefs > Universal access > Keyboard
You can also press the shift key 5 times to turn Sticky Keys on or off.
Check the rest in System Prefs > Keyboard > Keyboard > Modifier keys.

  • Shift-Arrow in Curves adjustment layer CS6

In previous verions of Photoshop, when I made a curves adjustment layer, selected the midpoint, then did a shift-arrow adjusstment, it was always in increments of 10. Now in CS6, it is 12 on my machine, 13 and 14 on the two other machines in the office I have checked. Why would that be? Can that be changed so it is 10 again?
FYI - this is all in RGB mode if that matters.

What operating system are you using?
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    What version of photoshop cs6?
Not really sure. Will have to check when I get back into the office in the morning.
Maybe you could clarify or show a screenshot of where on the curve in the curves adjustment adjustment panel your placing the "midpoint"
On the RGB curve, the midpoint is 128, but the same thing actually holds true at the 1/4 point and the 3/4 point.
Are you using the light or pigment graph in the curves panel?
Some one person has the histogram in the curves window, but other people do not
If you don't press the shift key do the points move in increments of one?
    Yes
All i can say is it seems to work on windows 7 x64 and photoshop cs6 extended 13.01.1
(increments of 10 with Shift-arrow keys)
Well, that helps. Lets me know that it is not normal.
FYI - if I do the same thing directly on the image (Command-M), and not on an adjustment layer, the increments do go by 10. That's gotta be a clue, doesn't it?

  • Tone curve RGB

I am trying to alter individual RGB channels within the tone curve box, but I don't get a pop up dialoge box. I saw a mention of PV 2010 and PV 2003, but I don't know what these are, or if one can convert to them.

Look in the camera calibration panel and it will tell you. Alternatively, if you're seeing the current set of sliders in the basic panel (e.g. highlights, shadows, etc.) then that would confirm you're using PV2012.
Go to tone curve, click on the little curves button at the bottom, and you'll be in point curve mode. Click on the RGB button to choose a colour channel.
As you're on the web, I recommend searching for "process version Lightroom" to find out more about that side of things.
