Eyedropper tool - Makes color RGB from CMYK image.

I made an image CMYK in photostop, and then placed it in an indesign file. When I used the eyedropper tool to grab a color from that graphic, the eyedropper tool made that color RGB. Our printer only accepts CMYK. So, I am a bit confused. How can I fix this? Or will this be a non-issue?
Thanks

I can think of three possibilities for what happened.
If the image is missing (check the links panel) the eydropper is sampling the RGB screen preview.
If you pasted the image from Photoshop instead of Placing it, you only pasted the low resolution RGB screen preview, and you have more problems than the eyedropper color.
If you opened the color picker by double-clicking on the color box, then said OK while the cursor was in one of the RGB fields (the default state), the color was converted from CMYK to RGB.
The only time RGB is a non-issue is when you are outputting on a RGB device (screen or desktop printer). If the printer said he wants CMYK you need to give him CMYK, or pay him to fix it.

  • Make color palette from an image

Guess I didn't phrase the question right... will try again =
    I did a painting
I want to do another painting using the full color palette from that image (usually swatches in Corel Painter which does this)
    No indexed color
    RGB or CMYK palette
    working with photoshop CS3
the painting I did shown below
publisher liked it - need to do more art using same colors - without picking them one at a time from the image

I use both (Painter and Photoshop)...
For some reason (and some of the beta testers involved in developing Painter have said this) Painter is not really stable... seems to suffer from a memory leak - meaning after a period of time it loses memory and will not even open an image it created (even with a boatload of Ram - which it can't seem to manage).
The solution is to reboot. Also, even though I may work with Painter, I always do final color edits/setup for publication using Photoshop (including my 3D renders) -
You are right about the capabilities of Painter, but Photoshop remains the big daddy of color work.
Thanks for your explanations... I'm decidedly low-key tech...
I doodle, paint, etc. I took up digital because I hated getting dog and cat hair in my paintings and the nightmare of revising (client edits) to airbrush work - and publishers are all digital, so I send them digital files - makes all of us happy

  • Remove color profile from an image

How to remove color profile from an image is it possible through any script?
Manual Try - Don't Color Manage this Document: option is used to instruct Photoshop to remove an existing embedded profile but when I save the file, close and open it I still see a color profile in the embedded image.

On the mac you could have sips do this (it may depend on the file type). You would loose the files creator if Photoshop was its last editor though.

  • I need to know how to remove the color background from an image PLEASE

Hello, I'm trying to remove an image within an image so that the image removed stands alone as its own file.
    http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs47/f/2009/166/0/5/Straw_Hat__s_Flag_by_fenrir1992.jpg
^ So from that image, I'm trying to remove the black background so I only have the skull with hat image (and the bones behind it of course).
The reason for this is because I want to use it on a shirt, and that black background image does not match the shade of black on the shirt.
The file above is the image I wanted to use, with a size of 2874 x 2000. If anyone could show me how to do this I would greatly appreciate it

Just use the MAGIC WAND TOOL, and select the black area(s). Hit the delete button... and you're done

  • Convert Colors RGB to CMYK something i don't understand.

    Hello!
I'm still "fighting" with maximum TotalInk. There is the problem. Indesign have background and overlaying image with effect - Multiply. So it's extremely hard to avoid not exceed maximum ink. Indesign don't provide normal way to do it and i start to torture Acrobat for that. First step was create Postcript file then distille it to RGB and then convert by Acrobat X Pro (Print Production/Convert Colors).
Theoreticly everything worked out fine. Black text stayed black (which is miracle) and images went to RGB and back to CMYK. BUT...and i don't understand why - Convert to Profile with Perceptual didn't converted it same way as Photoshop. It still got some points which exceed TotalInk (i used profile with maximum 300). AND image has drastic loss of quality! What did i do wrong? I tried to make Preflight new fix which do same thing and it worked - no exceeds of limit but still BAD quality! What did i miss?
    Thanks.
P.S. If something isn't understandable please ask, i'll try to make my point more clear (english isn't my first language).

The 'create album' button is identical to File>New From Selection>Album (Command-L).
Oddly enough, this gives different behaviour from File>New>Album...
In other words it makes a new Album with the entire Project's-worth of images in it only if you had nothing selected. It's an assumption on the part of the developers - you've asked for a new Album containing the selection, but nothing's selected - do you throw up an error message (like the one when only one Version is selected), or assume that the user wanted everything.
Personally I think Aperture should throw up a dialog box to keep things consistent, but I can see the reasoning behind it. And as long as we've got menu items and keyboard shortcuts for both, I don't really care.

  • Copying a background color scheme from one image to another

I have a banner I created off the web that has red with a kind of white tint in the middle and is gradient to the corner with black tint. Can some one tell me is there a way to copy this color scheme in the from the banner and apply it to a logo image I have so that they match.
    thank you in advance

Can you show us the image? Also, what exactly do you mean by:
    copy this color scheme

  • How do you make an icon from an image

Used to be if you selected "Get Info" you could get an icon from the info window. Now all I get is this.

Yup - apparently the OS does not make actual thumbnails anymore for files; instead, it uses something like Preview to generate them on the fly. This means that when you do a Get Info on them, the icon shown in the upper left is a generic one.
    A solution -
Lower down in the Get Info window is a preview of the image. Double-click that, and it will open in Preview. Press Command-A (Select All) then Command-C (Copy). This will place the image on the Clipboard.
Switch to the Get Info window for the file or folder you want to place the image onto as an icon, click the generic one in the upper left to select it, press Command-V (Paste).

  • How to make color consistent from Photoshop 5 to Photoshop 6?

Hi, I recently upgraded from photoshop 5 to photoshop 6, and the colors printing out so differently.
In phothsop 5, the color management setting was on Photoshop Manages color, Adobe RGB (1998) and Relative Colorimetric.
But on 6, Adobe RGB (1998) under Printer Profile is missing.  How can I set up the color management so the colors print out consistent?
    Thank you.

What printer? What profiles? What system? Sorry, but your post is not particularly useful. You have to be much more specific.

  • Can you make a PDF from multiple images open in Photoshop ?

Lets say I have 4 images open  in different windows (or tabs) in Photoshop.
Can I make ONE pdf file from those 4 images at one single stroke ?
    (I have PS CS4 EXTENDED)

The answer is no, you would need Photoshop CS2 or CS3 to do this. This function was removed in Photoshop CS4 and CS5
You can create the PDF in Bridge though.

  • I want to make a movie from two images

I have two images (.jpg) that I wnat to put together so they flop back and forth (one then the other) creating a movie lasting about 10 seconds.
How might I go about this using iMovie. I've tried about everthing I can think of. But I'm very new using iMove.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

You can't "improve" the audio quality of an .mp3 file by converting it to AIFF. At ten MB's a minute they would have a 300 MB file but still the quality of the source.
I would use QuickTime Player Pro to make the "movie" of the .mp3 audio track. Here's how:
Create an all black image file (one bit .jpeg format) in any image editor. Use very small dimensions (just a few pixels to keep the file size down).
Open QuickTime Player Pro and then this new .jpeg file. Command-a (Select All) and Command-c (Copy).
Open the .mp3 file using QuickTime Player Pro. Command-a (Select All) and then choose "Add to Selection & Scale" from the edit menu.
Open the Movie Properties window, highlight the new video track with a single click and then click the Visual Settings tab.
Adjust the video track dimensions from the very small size of the source to whatever works best to fit the intended display. 640X480 would probably be best.
Use the Save menu to give this new file a different name. It will now be a .mov file with an all black video track and the original .mp3 audio.

  • Allow the "Select a Color" eyedropper to select from the image.

For example: you want to enhance the sky with blue...  it takes several attempts to get a natural oxygen blue from the rainbow box.  The ability to select that color direct from the image would give quicker and more accurate results.

    Feature already exists.
Open the Adjustment Brush colour palette, click down anywhere on the palette while holding down the Alt/Option key, now while still holding down the Alt/Option key move the eyedropper to the image and click the spot you want to sample from.
At least for me on Windows, you don't need to hold down a key.  Just click-and-drag.

  • Color correct CMYK Image with RGB Image

    1. anybody please tell me is it possible to perform color correction in CMYK image with RGB reference image
    2. how to do that i mean what are the details i have to watch for?
    ADVANCE THANKS

Your match using my color profile(similar to North American General Purpose) would be 29c 100m 83y 35k. Convert a sample swatch, using your color workflow/profile.
Some RGB colors won't convert well to cmyk (eg 0R 255B 0G). In that case your problem is not using a RGB reference image for CMYK color correction, but the cropped color gamut in the color conversion itself.
In those cases of saturated RGB colors you may have to do some handtoning to surrounding colors, to help create the illusion of RGB saturation to the troublesome color you are matching.

  • RGB to CMYK without losing quality

How can I convert a photoshop file, which is in RGB, into CMYK image mode without losing quality?
Whenever I try to convert the image mode, it totally changes the colors making it damn ugly. I want the brochure to be printed and for that it should be in CMYK format.
    Kindly help me. Its urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Snehal Masne

    Snehal,
A lot depends on the particular colors you're using in RGB, what sort of CMYK printer or press you're using and just how you're actually converting to CMYK. Most images print just fine in CMYK, as can be seen by the many thousands that print every day in magazines and newspapers around the world. CMYK's weakest areas are bright saturated blues, which will always print like crap because the inks just cannot print those colors. You haven't told anyone exactly why your conversions look like crap, only that they do. If you posted an example, more specific help could be given, but the bottom line is that there are always going to be some compromises going to press and you, as the designer, have to take those possibilities into account when doing your design. You can also trick the viewer's eyes into thinking the image is more saturated than it really is by intelligent use of color contrasts in images and designs. For instance, using a bright yellow, something that presses print quite well, next to the best blue you can print, will make that blue appear bluer and more saturated than it really is. Of course, if you need exact and specific color matches, you can always go to additional spot color plates using Pantone or other color inks, at an added cost in both money and complexity.
Entire books have been written on this subject, and for good reason.

  • How can I after compare from 2 images automatic mark the image differenz?

    Hello Everybody.
    I
have a question again, there are a photo A and a photo B here, after the subtract from A and B I have got a
comparative photo C, anywhere where black are no
changes. So the color envelope are the changes.
I would like to track the changes, and I want to make a program like that:
This LabVIEW program knows the color changes from the image C (where not black were), it must
AUTOMATICALLY remember each color changes, define the size of the framework for each color charges and draw each changes with a framework in the photo A (as well as photo D), is it possible?
Can you help me?  Please put a sample workflow, thank you in advance!

    Hello, Mike,
thank you for your help, it works.
Maybe I am not so clever, I can not unterstand your program very well.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. I need a little larger rectangle for the images, because the images are not subscribed fully, and there is no problem if the environments are there. On which position or in which case can I enlarge the size for that?
Please look the word file "now" and "wanna".
    2. How can I draw the red rectangles direct for each changes on the Photo A.bmp? On which case or on which position of your program must I edit? And how?
Please look the Photo D.bmp. There is also no problem if the red rectangles litte larger as the objects.
    Thanks a lot!
