EZ Drummer

I recently purchased the EZ Drummer plug- in " The Drum Kit From ****" It's a great AU to have but ever since I bought it my M-AUDIO KeyRig 49 has been acting up.. i keep receiving an error that tells me the issue is between GarageBand and my External Device (which is the keystation) but i'm led to believe it's the EZ Drummer plug-in creating conflict between the program and my keystation.. i'm really confused on what's going wrong so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.. thank you

You may need to update the EZdrummer driver through toontrack's website because of issues with Snow Leopard:

Think that's the right URL, might not be.

  • With Drummer - how do I arrange different rhythms to match the different phases of my song?

Essentially I want to to be able to have different drum phrases for intro, fill, verse, chorus, etc.
Whilst I understand how to create these phrases one at the time with drummer, I am not sure how to arrange them together, one afte the other, to form a complete arrangement for a given song? Example: Using Kyle, I want hime to start the song with a simple intro with the kick, then start adding some snare, then go into a fill with the toms and then return to a normal rhythm before ending with just cymbals... How do I programme that?
I thought I could do that by using various tracks of the same drumemer, but Garageband is telling me that I have already chosen a drumemr and I cannot have another drummer track. I want to avoid dragging loops in, becasue they would have a differnet sound / feel to the drummer type I've chosen and would make the project sound unorganic.
Any help on this would be appreciated
    Thanks

You can have only one drummer track, but the regions in the track can have different settings.
When you ctrl-click inside the drum track it will add a new region with eight bars.
For each region you can change the parameters in the track editor:
drag the yellow dot around between soft and loud, or simple and complex.
Or select a different preset in the left column.

  • LPX + NI 80s Drummer - snare triggering problem

    Hi Guys,
I would be grateful for any help on this one... I've been struggling with a specific problem with Logic and Native Instruments "80s Drummer" (and some of the other NI drummer products as well).
    I am using a Roland TD12 V-Drums kit, and running Logic (10.0.2) on a Mac Pro 2011 8-core, 2.4GHz.
Here's the problem I am experiencing:
When I load up one of the 80s Drummer kits, I am finding that in the higher velocity ranges (say velocities of around 70 plus), the snare drum is not triggering at all. At lower velocities, it is triggering perfectly, and all the other drums are also triggering right across the velocity range (1-127) without any problems.
I am really puzzled by this and have tried all sorts of troubleshooting.
Here are some specific points that will hopefully help someone on this forum to help me solve the problem (but which will also highlight just how baffling it is!):
    1. I am starting with a blank project to make sure there's not something in my LPX user templates that is causing this problem.
    2. I am loading up my own key mapping preset within 80s Drummer.
    3. I also have Cubase 7 installed on my computer, and when the same kits and mapping are opened in Cubase, the snare drum triggers successfully at all velocity levels.
    4. The key mapping preset mentioned in point 2 above is the same one I load when using 80s Drummer in Cubase.
    5. When I tried 80s Drummer in LPX, triggered via a keyboard rather than the V-Drums, the snare successfully plays at all velocity levels!
Based on the above, you will see that it's very hard to pick up a common factor which might be causing this issue. For example: the problem doesn't seem to be the TD12 kit, as the same kit and 80s Drummer are working perfectly when loaded in Cubase.
The problem doesn't seem (as far as I can tell) to be within Logic either, as the snare plays perfectly at all velocities when I trigger it with a MIDI keyboard. The 80s Drummer key mapping (which I customised when I first purchased the package) also doesn't look like it's the culprit, as it is also working fine when loaded in Cubase.
I'd be grateful for any help or suggestions, as this really has me puzzled (and is obviously frustrating as the NI kits are all therefore more or less unuseable at the moment).
If anyone has any ideas but needs more info from me first, let me know!
    Thanks in advance guys!
    Mike

    Hi Logic friends,
Just pushing this one further up in the forum, in the hopes that someone might be able to help!
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Has anyone tried changing the drummer on a drummer part that has already been placed into a track stack?

Has anyone tried changing the drummer on a drummer part that has already been placed into a track stack?
I find that if I do that, the parts in the stack all get merged together with no way to expand them (ie the triangle you would click on to expand the stack disappears).
I believe this is a bug, and wonder if anyone else has encountered it?

  • How do I make an electronic drummer for the backing of a concert

I am going quietly crazy... being just an ordinary musician NOT a sound engineer! - ALL I WANT is a collection of drum tracks that I can start and stop and then go on to the next one - (I.e. an electronic drummer) for a 30 song gig. (My Live Drummer quit) NOW I have been through all sorts of tutorials for mainstage and it all seems to be ok but I CANNOT GET ANY KIND OF SETUP that does this simple task - I have a zillion drum loops and I know which ones I want to use - but.... there doesnt seem to be any simple way to set up 10 loops one after the other with a way of moving from the last one to thenext one - and have each one in the right tempo - I could do this in 1979 with a bloody drum machine so why cant I do it with a huge computer and a load of software?!!!
anybody out there with a simple 10 step recipe for this task will have the eternal gratitude of an old bluesman!!!!
    VIV H
(too old to die young but no too old to play the blues)

I can hear you loud and clear Vivian.......and believe me I fully sympathise with the underlying thought of your criticism, but.......the point is this: why should we waste time moaning about trivial point of views, when we could use this time doing something more constructive? And I really mean this!
And during those early Apple days, a computer called Atari was the only usable machine for music production. That's, by the way, where Logic emerged from. Of course then it was called Notator and later it became Notator Logic. Apple computers, in those days where considered a joke when they showed up in a studio environment. Comparing all of that and more, with the present time, we must come to conclude that, from a technical/creative point of view, i'm sure you must agree, we're in paradise.
So what went wrong, why are so many musicians so frustrated and on the edge of a nervous brake down whenever they have to use computers. Well, one part of the answer lay's in that reality has not lived up to their expectations of what a  computer can and can not do. Again, it seems like a waste of time, hours of work configuring and no results.......
Sometimes, while composing music, I will get stuck and there is nobody or nothing to blame. This happened too, before I started using computers helping me to do part of the job. And before that my pencil tip broke or I went out of ink and I had a broken string and no spare.
I don't mean to belittle you in any way and I'm sure you perfectly aware what to do, but I found out for myself, some time ago, that if I want change to happen and make things go my way, so to speak, I'll have to get organised, learn a few things. Now I bent and shape everything until it suits my needs perfectly. And yes, there are times, when playing music, I intentionally leave computers alone!
    Cheers!

  • Superior Drummer 2.0 not showing up as an instrument.

I installed Superior Drummer 2.0 and it does not show up in Garageband.  I checked the components folder as well as other plug-ins and nothing is in any of them.  Please help, I cannot find any information on this.

For anyone else that had this issue when you choose instrument go to edit and it is there.  Superior Drummer is then an option.

  • Anyone want to use a real session drummer for free?

Hi everyone, my name is David.  If anyone is interested, I'm willing to do what's called "online session drumming" for free.
Why for free? I want to gain more experience in session drumming for customers from afar, plus doing this kind of work is a great way for me to stay engaged and be creative as a drummer without being tied to a specific band.
I do alot as far as studio/session drumming and using GarageBand for some side projects in music production.
What can I provide you? I record my drum tracks in GB with Addictive Drums by playing on an expanded Yamaha DTX950K drum kit.  If you are unfamiliar with these products, I encourage you to look them up so you can appreciate the professional track I can give your song.
My strongest areas are Rock-Centric, but I have taken lessons in hip-hop, jazz, and Latin percussion as well.  I use a Pearl Eliminator double-bass pedal for applications where double bass is appropriate, so if you need metal drumming don't hesitate to ask.  I know the new drummer feature is a great improvement but nothing can compare to a real drum track created specifically for a song with the songwriters exact desires in mind.
If you are interested, contact me through this forum or e-mail me at [email protected]  I'd be happy to send you a sample or two of what I've done in other projects and discuss what you are looking for in your project to determine if I can help get you the sound you want.  What I'm offering for free goes for $200 an hour and up, but you can have it for free by providing me an outlet for my hobby.

Basically you would want to connect the D-Link directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then, reconfigure the D-Link as a bridge to allow the AEBSn to continue to provide NAT & DHCP services for the entire wired/wireless network. The AEBSn then can be reconfigured for either the "802.11n only (2.4 GHz)" or "802.11n only (5 GHz)" radio mode.

  • [LPX] Drummer/Drum Kit Designer memory leak causing crash

After working with LPX for a couple of days after release with almost no problems save for a few system overload errors that always seemed to sort themselves out, I loaded up a project I had been working on to find that it crashed every time I tried to play the track. Other, smaller projects, still played in varying degrees, some having to wait for a long time seemingly for samplers to load up etc.
I did some testing (painstaking, considering that I was having to force-quit the application for my computer to even run again; as an aside there were never any error reports for whatever reason) and found that it appears to be Drummer/Drum Kit Designer that's causing massive memory usage. Looking at the activity monitor when loading the project revealed that the memory usage would just go up and up until it maxed out my (rather modest) 4GB RAM, at which point there would be no free memory and the computer would slow almost to a standstill. Removing all instances of Drum Kit Designer and Drummer reduces the load to a point where it is once again manageable.
This seems like a fault in Drummer, I'm thinking possibly a memory leak. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem/anyone have any thoughts as to how it could be fixed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jasper

This is not a memory bug. It's simply the nature of the new Drummer.
Drummer uses a LOT of samples. It's a 13GB download for a reason. You will need more than 4GB to use drummer and not run into issues.
The nature of the modern Logic engine - which seems unchanged from v9 - makes it very bad at being able to tell when it's running out of memory. Logic will simply freeze or crash most of the time it runs out. The freeze would be down to it using literally every last MB on your RAM without overstepping the boundary, and the crash would be downt to it claiming to need more real RAM than you have spare.
Producer kits use 5.1 surround samples, and submixes them to stereo in a way that posistions them around the space. Whilst a doddle for a modern machine, you Mac is rather long in the tooth to be trying to do that whilst struggling to handle 1.2GB patches with 4GB of RAM total.

  • Saved user presets in "drummer"

    Hi
a few but not all saved "user presets "have disappeared in the "drummer" folders
    anyone else experienced this??
    thanks

Ans 1 - The User Presets folder is shared across all versions of Lightroom, so there's normally no reason why you would need to do anything after an upgrade.
Ans 2 - Yes, moving from one OS to another means you have a few hurdles to jump. Install Lr3 on your Mac then copy the Catalog and Previews across to the Mac. When you launch Lr3 on the Mac it will create an new default Template/Preset folder named "Lightroom" at /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ Next, copy the entire Lightroom Template/Preset folder from the PC to the Mac, thus replacing the original. Relaunch Lr3 and the old presets should now be accessible.

From what the OP is saying, I don't think he knows how to open a Software Instrument Plugin....
    So..
    Create a new blank project
    Create an Instrument track
In the track strip click on Instument (as highlighted in the screenshot below) and bring up the Software Instrument Dropdown menu
Select SD2 plugin from the list under AU Instruments:Toontrack
If you don't find it there then you probably don't have a 64bit AU version of SD2 installed in which case,
    Quit LPX
Go to the Toontrack website and grab the latest version..
    Install the new version
    Start LPX
Now try again.... and it should be there

  • I'm a drummer, when I got the 4s and tried to listen to music and drum to it the music would keep cutting out. It also happens when a door is slammed when I'm in the car.

I'm a drummer, when I got the 4s and tried to listen to music and drum to it the music would cut out frequently, it also happens when a door is slammed when I'm in the car. I didn't have this issue with my previous apple products and it doesn't seem to happen to others with the 4s. Is there a known way to stop this?

I suggest trying the update again after an hour or two.  Sometimes, the notice that an update is available comes an hour or two before the developers actually sends the revised app out to be downloaded.

  • Save custom drum settings for Drummer track?

Hi guys.  Wondering if there is a way to save the Drummer region settings from one project and use them in another project without manually setting things like complex, loud, fills, etc.  THanks.

"Save Drummer Presets" is a feature that is only available in Logic but not in GarageBand.  Here is screenshot with both GarageBand and Logic open. You can see that the Action Menu (the one with the gear icon) is not available in GarageBand.
The good news is (in case you use Logic and GarageBand), all the Drummer Prests you save in Logic are also available in the Presets Menu in GarageBand. They are stored in the the following directory:
    ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Drummer/Presets/"Name of the Drummer"/.... .dpst
The presets are stored as XML files with the file extension .dpst.
If you have a Logic friend who can saved cool presets, you can copy his files into your Drummer folder and GarageBand can see them. If you more interested in a "science project", you can duplicate a dpst file, open it in BBEdit and edit your Preset numerically.
A lot of details and more information (from basic to more advanced) about GarageBand are found in my new manual "GarageBand X - How it Works", the only comprehensive manual available for GarageBand.
    Hope that helps

  • Rimshot in Pro X Drummer

Quick question.  I've built a Drummer track and tweaked the track to my liking using the X/Y pad and other settings.  However, I would really like to restrict the snare hits to rim shots during certain parts of the arrangement, without changing the complexity or velocity of the overall Drummer track.  Is there a way to do this?
As a follow up question, how about when working with accents where you want a single kick & cymbal hit.  I've gotten it to work with fiddling with the fill & X/Y pad, but didn't know if there was a better way.
    Thanks.

You could transform regions containing the rim part to midi and configure it there by hand. In addition this link might be of some assistance:
