EZcap driver not capturing Video

I just installed the ezcap Video driver to capture analog video using ArcSoft Showbiz software.  It captures the audio fine but does not capture the video at all.  It appears that the video portion of the driver is not working.

could be your firewire cable
could be firewire out from camera
could be firewire in on computer
could be capture settings in FCP
could be the little "video" tick box in Log and capture
could be non of the above, but that is wherwe i'd start

  • Imac g5 not capturing video with built-in isight...

in imovie hd (iLife 05). anyone ever run into this issue?

Hello Cody. I don't think RJ's suggestion will help you with this one.
in imovie hd (iLife 05). anyone ever run into this issue?Everybody does. According to Apple, the iSight built into an iMac G5 (iSight) is not able to capture video into iMovie.
See the "How can I get my built-in iSight to capture iMovie video clips?" section of Built-in iSight ( Late 2005 -> ) for more info and a workaround.

  • IMovie HD (6) will not capture video taken from HV20 in PF24 mode

The preview window shows the video just fine. iMovie complains that Quicktime doesn't have the ability (codec/plugin) to edit or playback my video. I find it ironic that software claiming to support HD and HDV can't read the video. It says to re-install iMovie. Of course, that didn't work. I read some blurbs online from people with similar errors, but mostly that involved copying a codec from their buddy. Is there a way to make this work natively without having to resort to piracy? I did upgrade my machine to Leopard, but the Apple support person didn't seem to think that would keep Quicktime and iMovie HD from working together.

Avoid 24p. It's a format which was introduced only to allow people who couldn't afford film cameras to shoot on video and then have the material transferred to film to show in cinemas. It's for people who shoot mini-documentaries, etc.
It's not a video standard: in America the frame rate for video is 30fps (frames per second) and in Europe it's 25 fps.
iMovie edits video, so it expects one of those two normal frame rates:
The only 'p' frame rate which iMovie copes with is a "rogue" rate introduced by JVC with their first hi-def camcorders which recorded at 720p (720 pixels high instead of the more usual 1080, and shot in 'progressive' mode instead of the more usual 'interlaced' mode which video normally assumes).
If you do manage to import 24p ('progressive') then you'll probably find that the video plays back at twice the normal speed, as 'progressive' frames are just single frames (like film) instead of being split into two half-frame "fields", which is the normal case with video.
So 24p is for "pretending" to shoot film. Try not to use it if you're shooting video!

  • HT200166 I have a Canon XL2 that will not capture video properly in fcp 10, where it does capture properly in fcp6 and 7. How can I "fix" fcp 10 to do this correctly?

My Canon XL2 (1394/firewire 400) will not capture correctly in fcp10, but it did when I had fcp 7 on the same computer. Is there a software fix that will allow me to use the XL2 with this program?

I just want to get this clear.
With FCP 7 and earlier you could capture a whole tape in one continuous 60 minute long clip.
FCP X cannot do that. It is designed to split the tape into its individual clips, however long they may be.
Are you saying that when you try to capture clips of 10 seconds or so, it only captures the first 4 seconds?
All I can suggest is that you trash the preferences with this free app.
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
    1. Ensure that only  FCP X  is selected.
    2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones  .  .  .  instantly.

  • My FCP 5 will not capture video any more. How do I get it back

I have a 2005 G5 operating on version 10.5.7. I have *FCP 5*. I do a lot of video editing and have been using this system since 2005. I have *4 gig Ram*. Suddenly it won't capture and when I try to go into that mode I get a message: *UNABLE TO INITIALIZE VIDEO DECK*. My cameras are a new *Canon XH-A1S and a older Canon XH-A1*, they both won't initialize. So I uninstalled all FCP software and reloaded only to get the same message. I now have 20 hours of tape waiting to be edited.
    *+_PLEASE HELP_+*

Did it. No luck, However while repairing my permissions four of them came up: Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpLoad" has been modified and will not be repaired.
There's one for "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiscManagement etc and "sbin/umount" and "usr/bin/quota" On all of the other permissions it says they "differ". Anyway it didn't help and I did it to my two internal hard drives.
iMovie will upload and control my camera but I'm capturing much of it in electric green and pink. Boy am I confused. It's not like I'm a novice, I've been doing this for years. This is driving me nuts. I'm worried if I were to purchase a new FCP it still wouldn't capture (not that I could afford it)

  • Premier Elements 2 not capturing video

I have operated Premier Elements 2 for some years, but I am currently having problems with the video capture. The controls operate the camera, the sound is on, but the picture does not appear and nothing downloads. I have reinstalled the program but it makes no difference. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum.
The Capture process is only a byte-for-byte copy of the signal over the FireWire cable. If you are getting Device Control, plus the Audio, then something is not making its way across the cable, or though the connectors.
The first thing that I would look at is the FW cable. Try another one.
Next, do you have more than one FW connector (iLink, IEEE-1394) on your computer? Is so, they another one.
What is the make/model of your camera?
What is your Project Preset, and does it match the recording settings on your camera?
Have you updated your video drivers very, very recently? If not, do so immediately from the video card mfgr's. Web site.
    Good luck,

  • NO FIREWIRE! MacBook can not capture video for editing...Help!

I bought a New Unibody Macbook last week. Then I realized that my New Video Camera (Canon Vixia HV30) is not compatible with the MacBook as it has no Firewire. So I called apple to discuss returning it for a Macbook Pro. But upon examining the specs for the MacbookPro I discovered that it only has Firewire 800 which is not cross compatible with Firewire 400. So that computer will ot help me either. Apparently the manufactures of video cameras are way behind Apple in its adoption of firewire 800. (note USB2.0 is not designed for video, it is a burst based protocol and not nearly as fast for continuous data streams, like digitizing video)
    Does anyone know of...
    1) A Video Camera that uses Firewire 800
    2) An adapter from 400 to 800?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I have been pretty ticked off about Apple's direction myself as I own an audio and video business which relies heavily on FW400 for my cameras and sound cards. I am fortunate to have the older 17" MacBook Pro with both Firewire's built in, but I was thinking to myself, what would I do if I had to purchase now. This is what I would do:
I would get a MacBook Pro and purchase at $32.00 Fire Wire ExpressCard/34. Gives you 2-Firewire 400's. Heck for $30.00 you get two ports. Not bad at all!

  • Capturing Video from a Camera that only has a USB port

I have read a number of posts from people who have been frustrated because they can not 'capture' video from a video camera that only has a USB port on it.  Unfortunately, Premier wants to see a Firewire connection; otherwise, it won't connect to a camera.   However, it is still very easy to import your video clips from such a camera into Premier Pro:
    1. Turn on your video camera and connect it to your computer via the USB connections.
    2. In Premier, go to the Media Browser.
    3. In the Media Browser, you will see all the drives on your computer. Amongst those drives will be a drive that was created for your camera. (It will be identified as X: (Removable).  Double click on that drive and you will see all your recorded video clips in the column just to the right.
    4. Highlight any/all clips that you want to import. Then, simply drag those clips/files up into your Project Organizer (normally, in the upper left corner of the page)
    That's it.
You'll probably find this method of importing your clips/files off of your camera easier than if you did have a Firewire and utilized the 'Capture' function.

And a bigger problem will be that that camera (with its card or HDD) will have to be connected, whenever one wishes to edit, and it cannot be overwritten to).
As has been mentioned, the Project file does NOT contain any Assets, with the exception of Titles created in PrPro's Titler. This ARTICLE will give a bit more background on what is in the Project file, plus a bit more.
The same sort of problem can arise if one Imports a VOB from a DVD-Video disc, without Copying the VOB's over to the HDD. First, that DVD must be inserted for each editing session, and things will be horribly slow.
    Good luck,

  • FCE not capturing footage

I am using FCE 3.5.1 on a G5 Dual Processor using OX 10.4.10. I can not capture video to FCE from my two Sony DV cameras. FX1 and TRV 22. This just started after years of no problems. I have pulled preferences and reinstalled FCE several times. But the problem continues.
I can operate the camera, but it acts as though there is no time code on the tape. The time code on the tape is fine as I have captured this footage on other systems.

    G'Day Mate
Thanks for the reply. I have tried the Quicktime Receipts removal, but did not solve the problem. Only had one Quicktime pkg listed. It did have numbers. While I was there I pulled the FCE HS pkgs as well with numbers.
FCE HD does recogizine the cameras and will control it from Capture, but does not capture footage correctly. With clips it pays no attention to cues in and out. In "now" it will freeze the picture while continuing to record the sound.

  • Capturing Video from a VCR

I am trying to convert some home videos on VCR. I love PS Elements 8 so I bought Premier Elements 8. I connected my VCR to a PC USB
via  a Terratec Grabster 250. The Capture window in Premier Elements appears to have identified the video source (Grabster Series, capture) but I got no picture of the video playing on the VCR. If I press "Capture" no footage is captured. I  have Core Duo 2x2.4GHz with 2GB Ram. So I took this up with Adobe Support and this is the reply I got:
I am sorry to inform you that you can only capture videos using
Firewire  cable  as usb cable is not supported in Premiere Elements 8,
if  this option is not available in your VCR, you can not capture videos
    from  VCR to computer.
What?! The software is not written to support the industry's leading bus connection?!! That's just ridiculous. I suppose when ripping HD it may be that USB 2.0 is too slow but I'm trying to convert ancient VCRs using a composite video source!
Has anyone an idea if I can convert my Grabster's USB output to feed into the lonely solitary Firewire socket on my PC?

    Hello Wounded.
I am using PE v7.  I sold my PE v8 because it was not working properly and incompatible with some devices/software already on my PC.  But to your issue using your VCR with PE.
With PE v3 and not v7 I have a VCR connected to my PC via RCA cables.  To export my VCR video's to PE I capture the VCR video to the capture software that came with my PC, SONIC.  Once captured, I close SONIC and open PE.
I click on Get Media, then click File/Folder, then select the captured file.  PE will convert the file into the acceptable format to edit with PE.  The quality is not the best but it is good.
To help increase the quality of these conversions I purchased Dazzle (a Pinnacle product) which connects my VCR to my PC via USB.  I have noticed a big difference in the quality, which is very good.
If you have another editing software on your computer try what I've outlined above.
    Hope it helps.
Let me know how it goes.
    ciao for now.

  • Sony Handycam HC96 will not capture in Premier CS4

We have a lot of film on a Sony Handycam DCR-HC96.  Premiere CS4 running on a MAC sees the camera for control purposes, but will not capture video from it.  Since the Handycam only has Firewire 400 output, we are running through a 400 to 800 adapter to get to the Powerbook Pro.  Any ideas why Premiere will not capture video from this camera??  Any idea what settings to try??
    Thanks

Is the Record button active, or greyed out?
With some cameras, you have to hit the Record button AND THEN the play button to commence capture.
Failing that, you could try hitting PLAY on the camera itself, and then try to activate the Record button in the Capture window.

Unfortunately, you have posted to the Premiere forum. This was the precursor to PrPro. The MOD's will probably move this out to the PrPro forum, where you will get more comments. Do not be surprised, when your post appears in the PrPro forum.

  • Capture video via usb elgato or canopus

I can't find how to change my capture source, or even where the capture preferences is.
I'm trying to capture video in FCE using the Elgato usb analog in/usb out device (same thing happens with the canopus device) .
The device works fine with it's own software, but I need to get it going within FCE, and can't find the menu window to even select the source.
I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, but thanks for your help.

FCE will not capture video via USB. With the DV Converter preset you can capture from a FireWire device. This is selected in Easy Setup.

Leopard.  Did a full restore from Time Machine.  Now I can't access my other internal and external drives.  I get the following error: The folder “Capture Video” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.  I have repaired permissions pn the main harddrive.  When I try too click on a disk I get the previously stated error.  I can't even open up information to see what permission/access there is.  It simply will not let me see the content.  It shows the content of my main hard drive when I have clicked the other harddrive's name.

  • FS5600 capture video function not working

My FX5600 VTD 256 VMSi Card does not seem to be able to capture video from my camcorder.  I have updated the capture video drivers still with no luck.  When I called MSI  technical support they gave me a RMA number and told me to send the card back to them for a check.  Before I do that I was hoping somebody may have another idea about the capture video function I may have missed.  I have tried both S video and composite video inputs into the video in connector with no luck.  Before I disable my computer by taking out the video card I was hoping there was some other option I could try.

Post your computer's spec (especially the spec of your PSU). Try latest driver.
