F.A.O. Wonkanoby

Good evening Wonkanoby
I have now successfully identified the mainboard I'm working on.
It is a Premio 219F/5124.
Strangely enough, the CMOS jumper is 4 pin, 2/3 default, 3/4 to clear.
Thanks for pointing me to the MS5124 which showed me my
initial error.
Regards
Manofsax

so pin 1 does nothing
and in reallity its still 3 pin
but they never had one so they used a 4 ?

  • WONKANOBY PASS THIS TO JERRY PLEASE

    1) I need my machine to run in NON ACPI mode, that is Standard PC mode without any IRQ sharing.
The machine hangs when installing Windows 2000 in this mode.  It will not install unless I install in ACPI or MPS mode.
ACPI mode is disabled in BIOS (I have also tried it enabled).
    2) I need beta BIOS 1.74B. Please send it to [email protected]
My memory is fine and my PSU is fine (Please don't suggest trying better memory or better PSU, they have been tried and tested in other systems).
    Thank you.

  • Maesus,NavJoeRob454,wonkanoby - MAT/DOT support

Moderators:  I perceive an issue concerning 865PE neo2 FIS2R and MAT/DOT support.  Is this mobo supposed to work with both enabled?  What are your recommendations to make these features work.  Have you corresponded with MSI?  Can you update us please?
    Kindest Regards

Yes, they both can be enabled at the same time. You should buy those with DOT and MAT stickers on the box.
    More info :
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/e_service/techexpress/tech_column/6728/page3.htm
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/e_service/techexpress/tech_column/6728/page4.htm
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/e_service/techexpress/tech_column/6728/page5.htm
You'll notice that DOT and MAT are boosting performance exclusively from each other. DOT is tuning the FSB, MAT is tuning the memory timing. There is no voltage tuning here. Note that if you manually set your FSB, DOT will not work! In other words, overclocking FSB will automatically disable DOT!
My recommendation?? Assuming you have the best RAM in the world, best overclocking CPU in the world, best motherboard (as in the best of the best quality of the same species) in the world, you can enable to the maximum - General DOT and Ultra-Turbo MAT. :P Does this answer you?

  • Wonkanoby & others

    Hey
I noticed in (one of) your headers at the top of this column you noted the Aerocool Dp-102.  Just wondering if anyone, or you yourself Wonka has used this heatsink?  Performance will always vary from system to system.  Kind of wondering how the Aerocool would do in comparison to the Thermaltake V-12.  Granted you mounted .........Let's say two Thermaltake smart case fans (5400rpm) on the sides of the Aerocool.  The V-12 has "one" of the largest high density copper heatsinks around.  66 fins I believe.....(I currently own TT-V12)
I managed to OC my AMD Athlon XP3000+ (166fsb) to a 180fsb (multiplier of 13, it's locked so I'm only allowed to adjust vcore, fsb, etc...).  I have not had much time to do some "in depth tests" (stability is still questionable).  I also have the stock chipset/heatsink installed for the MSI K7N2 Delta series - ILSR (wussy little fan, no worries though ordered new chipset heatsink today).  But, after an hour running prime95 my CPU temp was peaking at about 52.9ºC.  YES I KNOW IT'S ONLY AN HOUR OF SOLEY PRIME95!
Let me know you thoughts, Always appreciated, Thanks

Thanks for your quick response.  That DP-101 looks like a monster too!!  Hows that thing perform?
Personally I'm thinking of getting that Aerocool Dp-102, but I just don't know if it will matter all that much.  Figuring I already have a high performance heatsink.  But 2X80m - 5400 rpm fans mounted on the side of that sure does sound delicious.

  • Wonkanoby Please Help!!!

I have a msi 850 pro5 and i was wondering if i raise up fsb, will it overclock my pci/agp. I was just curious. Didn't want to mess up my hardware.

    Thanks for your help.

make sure you understand how to clear cmos, and unplug it if you need to
raise the fsb a bit at a time, test ,play a game if ok go a bit more,if its unstable go back a bit and leave it at that
if it refuses to boot use the cmos jumper and dont go as high again

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR

A few days ago i put in my 120Gb Western from my old comp (witch my dad use. He really needs that comp), and everything is working just fine. But the my dads comp didn't work. So i put the 120Gb back in2 his, and that did it. His comp is working fine, but my comp don't work. It seems like the mb doesent even know that my disk is there. When I check the LED bracket (witch is wery helpfull btw) it says "Initializing Floppy". But i don't have a floppy. I have deactivated the floppy in BIOS.
I really need help with this.
I tried to clear CMOS, but it didn't work.

  • [MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR] Trouble

    Hello,
I have some serious trouble with my pc, my system specs are:
    -Unlocked Amd 2400+ (AXDA2400DKV3C from August 21, 2002)
    -Msi K7N2 delta-ilsr
    -Palit GeForce FX5900XT
    -Std. 512mb pc2700
    -Std. 512mb pc3200
    -More stuff
The problem is that I can't change the multiplier. If I change the multiplier from 15x (standart) to for example 13x, the system won't boot. Than I have to put a jumper at the 100mhz fsb setting, then I must change the multiplier back to by h/w & save the settings. So I am only able to change the fsb, but not the multiplier
Anywone who know's a solution for this problem?
    Thanks,
    Sape

    here is what i have:
asus cuv4x mb, 667 mhz intel celeron, 256 mb ram
    msi geforce4 mx 460
    diamond pci sound card
    some isa 10/100 card
    windows xp pro
this is a fresh install of win xp, i tried the drivers on the msi cd, also the newest reference drivers from nvidia.com, that didn't help. i tried removing the sound card but no luck there. it mainly locks in games like GTA3 or NHRA Dragracing. it runs for about 30 seconds and locks. ctrl alt del doesn't work so i have to power down. it locks in windows also, but not as often. i don't see anything conflicting in my device manager. does anyone have anything i can try? thanks in advance!

oops, i must be a moron. under the 3.3v and 5v it says 120w, then under all the voltages (3.3v, 5v, 12v, -5v, -12, -9) it says 250w. so just to verify, i need one that has 200w with the 3.3v and 5v? or is it ok now? sorry...

  • Combo Drive Problems

I just installed the IDE CDRW/DVD combo drive and the PowerDVD software that came with it.  Unfortunately I cannot seem to get my DVDs to play correctly.  After about 10 minutes the playback goes buggy on me.  It sort of crashes.  By that I mean the DVD will go start over at the beginning (the studio logo part).  I played the disc on two other players and it works fine.  I also tried using another disc, and I experienced the same problem.  The thing kind of resets.  Further attempts have resulted in crashes and lock ups.  I attempted playing the disc with PowerDVD and Windows Media Player.  I made sure the drive was set to DMA and I did flash the drive BIOS.  The hardware manager for the OS says the device is functioning properly.  Anybody have any suggestions?  Is this a hardware or a software issue?

Okay, I reinstalled the OS, installed WinDVD 4 and tested the discs.  So I concluded that the problem was solved by reinstalling the OS.  I assumed it would be safe to install PowerDVD 5.  I did that and tested the disc and look what happens.  Same old problem.  I uninstalled it but still have the same problem!  All that hassle of backing up my old data, reinstalling the OS...and the suffering.  Oh the suffering.
At this point I think I'll just roll over and play dead.  Fine...I can't watch Underworld on my deskbox past chapter 3...strangely, Matrix used to skip backward too, but that problem seems to have gone away.
I saw Wonkanoby's post about the new Nforce drivers...I picked those up...no help.  I've pretty much done everything I can think about.  At one point I've even taken the drive back and exchanged it for a new one.  All updated drivers...DirectX 9...WinUpdated all current...really, nothing I can think of short of getting a new drive.  But...it works fine for some discs?!
I think I'm going insane...man...look at this thread...I must be insane...I've spent a great majority of it talking to myself...

  • K7N2 Delta Overheating

I have the K7N2 Delta board (rest of system specs are in sig) and after about 45mins-1 hour of gaming, my system locks up and resets.  After lock up, if i go into bios, my sys temps usually read about 59-64 degrees celcuis.  I was having this problem with the stock fan/hs, so i bought the Volcano 12, figuring that would solve the problem.  Didn't, only gave me about 1hr-1 1/2 hours before lock up at lowest RPM setting (2100), and only about 10-15 mins longer at highest RPM setting (about 5600).  I have the same problem when I run 3d 2003 test, it goes through the first set of tests fine, but when I get to the first CPU test, my system locks.
My idle temps on the CPU are about 45-52 degrees celcius, case temp is in about 38 celcius.  I read in other posts that it could be due to TOO MUCH thermal goo on the chip, but how do I know how much is too much?
Aside from overheating, what else might it be?
If I leave my system idle, it can go for days with no hint of a problem.  It's only when I start gaming (America's Army, UT 2k4 demo, BF1942) that I get problems.
Also, I ran memtest, RAM is fine.

Wonkanoby:  Ya, I know I need new RAM, but I'm on an incredibly tight budget now, so it's gonna be a while till I can afford some (basically, I haven't had a job in 8mths).
DeathStalker:  I tired what you said, opened up the side of my case, put a Vornado house fan on high speed facing my mobo, and the temps did drop quite a bit (with HS/fan @5600 RPM and idle CPU=41celcius, Sys=28celcius.  @2100RPM and idle CPU=44celcius, Sys=34celcius).  I decided to run the 3dMark2003 this way, with HS/fan @5600 RPMs, and I got through the first CPU test, but then they system crashed again.
So it seems that the extra cooling helped, but still wasn't enough.
Any suggestions on how to cool my system with out putting a house fan in there?  I already have 3 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake.  1 top exhaust, 1 rear exhaust).  I have room for 2 more 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake, 1 rear exhaust), but I don't think that would help cool the CPU all that much, would it?  I thought the TT Volcano 12 would help with cooling a lot, but it has only provided marginal imporvements.
Also, could it be that I am overstressing my RAM, and that is why I'm having these problems?
    Open to any suggestions.

  • Model Chip BIOS for MS-6119???

    [SPANISH]
Hola.

Hello. I have a model motherboard MS-6119, the one which alone it allows me to upgrade the HD
up to 20 GB. The PC that incorporates this motherboard has a HD of 4 GB, its capacity has you
small to store windows 2000 Professional, applications but common and the new ones versions of the applications to develop my electronics projects for the university. I have decided to buy a new HD of 20 GB in near stores to my town, but I have problems of finding HD of 20 GB, because they say that it is a capacity of HD already something obsolete, and the minimum HD that have in stores is of 40 GB, so I am forced to upgrade my BIOS to be able to install my new HD. I don't dare to carry out the process at home, because I have read that if it fails the electric supply the motheroboard it could be useless and I don't have enough economic resources as to buy a new PC, for what I decided to ask in stores if they could make me the upgrade of the BIOS, but all tell me that they don't offer me guarantees if the process of upgrade fails, substituting me the mothrboard for another same or similar, because they no longer have motherboard for Pentium-II in stock.   I have planned to buy a memory FLASH chip model, that the BIOS of my motherboard MS-6119 uses, for later record it, the new version of BIOS using a EEPROM programmer, that we prepare in the department of microdesign electronic of the university. I would need to know that models of FLASH memory chips are compatible with my MS-6119 motherboard (BIOS chip), to locate him in the department or to send it to request to our suppliers to buy it. On the other hand, I would also like to know, the new version of BIOS that I should record, so that my MS-6119 motherboard supports HD of 40 GB or superior capacities. need to know what PCB version of MB you have
STANDARD or CPU PLUG AND PLAY version cause there are 2 versions for 6119
from bios screen should list W6119 V s2.1 or p2.1 in the upper left of screen (hit pause key to read) if not read whats printed on the MB between pci slots for PCB version.
for bios chip its a EEPROM dip32 chip.  the flash type died out with 386 series (has a window on chip for light).
find out more check Orientation of chip. (witch way seated in socket) put on  ANTI-STATIC WRIST STRAP  then remove chip an take #'s off the bottom to find out what you got, then replace chip same way it came out
    JMODE1 jumpers (flash voltage)
    1-2 for 12v others chip
    2-3 for 5v winbond chip
