F-Secure Key auto updated and lost all data

My dad's iPhone 4S auto updated the F-Secure App, he uses it daily, upon opening it it asked him to set a new master password therefore making a new account with no trace of any of his passwords, I've since turned off auto updating but is their any way to be able to retrieve his password account and data, he is quite distressed and angry as his work computer passwords are stored within the app. Like the app is empty like new with the updated layout, when updated it started a new account and didnt keep his data, is their any way possible to be able to retrieve it.

Hi Ben, no it wasnt associated with any other devices he was just using the free version. and auto update has been switched since he got the phone as its on by default in iOS and wasnt switched off like on my phone, so its been on longer than he has been using the app His phone is not jailbroken or never has been

Today October 26th I was prompted for 8.1 upgrade to fix minor bugs. Did 8.1 upgrade on my iphone 4S, phone went to recovery mode and lost all data. I see an itunes icon with a charger pointing  to it on the screen. I plugged the pphone to the laptop and get is itunes detected iPhone in recovery mode, you must restart the phone before you update ...and the download is taking 5 hours and i have 320 mbps download speed
Apple thinks i have an older phone and need to throw it and buy their new iphone 6. if thats the case, here is my middle finger... am going with some other OS

Apple doesn't care if you buy a newer phone or not.  Apple doesn't need your new iPhone purchase.  There are millions of people that have properly working older iPhones that voluntarily upgrade.
Your device crashed, and it could have been caused by any number of root causes, many of them not controlled by Apple.  Third party app, interruption of internet connection, interruption of power, etc.
If you came here to give the middle finger to Apple (childish behavior by the way), you're in the wrong place.  Go to www.apple.com/feedback.

  • Loaded ios 6 onto my i phone and lost all data can it be retrieved

loaded ios6 onto my i phone and lost all data. not too worried about apps but lost contacts, all music downloaded onto i phone and photos, Is there any way it can be retrieved?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only restore them from a backup. This has occurred because you are sharing an iCloud account. ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

  • Wrong passcode RESET my phone and lost all data!!!

This morning my wife went to use my phone, she wanted to show my daughter some photos I took yesterday.  She wasnt aware that I changed my passcode recently (she knew my old one).  After attempting to enter my old passcode 3 times incorrectly, the phone shut down to the black + apple logo boot screen and came back into the factory reset state (the same state as when you buy the phone, with the welcome/setup flow).
I was baffled at how this could have happened, so I called Apple support.  The technitian I spoke with had no idea how that could hav happened and asked me to check for iCloud or iTunes backups.  Unfortunately I had not backed my phone up in the past 2 weeks of using my new 4S, and I didnt setup iCloud backup.  So there was no solution available from Apple, I had to start all over and lost all my data.
After looking into this more, I cannot figure out how this could have happened.  I did not set the Passcode setting to erase all data after 10 failed passcode attempts (plus my wife only tried 3 times).
I assume this is a big bug in the new OS (5) or some clever scam to get people to start using iCloud for backups.  Word to the wise, backup or use iCloud, and check your passcode settings for that erase feature.  If anyone has any clue how this could have happened I would love to hear.

I do, but it is from a few weeks ago when I backed up my old 3GS to restore my brand new 4S.  So I did restore to that backup but lost the past 3 weeks of photos, apps changes and more.  I just had a baby too, so I really screwed the pooch by not backing up or using iCloud.  I just cant imagine the data isnt still on the phone somehow, but maybe it did get wiped.
In any case, seems like a scary bug out there that others may hit, wanted to post this to help others.

  • Just completed an update and lost all my phone contacts.  Can I get them back?

Just completed an update to my 3G Iphone.  Lost all my contacts.  Can I get them back, please???

Contacts are not a part of backup (only favourites and recent calls list are backed up). Contacts are synced with a compatible programme on your computer (Outlook, Windows Contacts, Addressbook etc) or with a cloud service (iCloud, Yahoo, Google).
Sync them back from the programme you were using for backing up your contacts.
If you have not been backing up your contacts to either of these programmes, then they are gone.

Any idea why Apple would design a software update that completely erases all the paid apps I downloaded.   Any idea how to fix?

.... O yes, and if you don't have a backup, login on the mobile device with your itunes store account, and "App Store" - Updates shows you everything you ever bought for redownload.

  • I shifted my itunes music from C: drive to D: and lost all data on ratings/plays etc

I shifted my itunes data from C: drive to D: drive on my Windows Vista laptop. I also updated itunes. Now while I have the music intact, the historical data including ratings/date of download/no of times played is all lost. Even though I did not delete any file from my comp. I have the data intact on my ipod classic (2005 model) by if I sync it now itunes would delete that data too and update it with that on the itunes where the history is lost. In effect even the history on ipod would get lost.
I am keen to retain it as it was developed painstakingly over 6 years. As the data is intact on ipod, pl help me transfer the same back to itunes

Well, having read a lot of misleading articles on the subject, I found out the solution about the missing "consolidate" option for myself. I started as per what seems to be standard advice and changed the current Library directory to my external drive in the Edit / Preferences / Advanced section of iTunes. I also ensured that the boxes next to Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised and Copy Files to iTunes Media Folder were checked. By the way, for simplicity's sake I'd already created a folder I named iTunes on the HD. I then highlighted (using my mouse) every track in the Library Music folder in iTunes and then right clicked this selection of 400+ songs. That then gave me the elusive "consolidate" command (amongst all the many other options) which I then selected. Much to my relief, iTunes then started the transfer process to my external drive. I was then able to close down iTunes and delete the iTunes Media files on my C: drive (knowing I could always restore them from Trash if everything went wrong) and thereby saved about 5 meg. I restarted iTunes and it works - all my music files are on my external drive and provided that's connected up I'm ok. I had one music video file and I moved that separately simply by highlighting it, right clicking on it to get access to the consolidate option and letting iTunes move it across.

  • HT1766 Restore failed and lost all data :(

    hey there,
i recently tried to update my iphone to the newest version of iOS.  i plugged into itunes, on my pc, and let the show start.  after the download occured, and the back up happened, i was instructed that itunes was not the most current version.  so i uninstalled itunes and installed the new version, as, for some reason, it wasnt happening automatically.  after the new version was installed, needless to say, the old back up wasnt there.  so i couldnt restore the phone to its most current back up.  the new version of itunes that i downloaded did not restore the phone with all of its contacts and pictures... however, all of the apps that ive downloaded seem to still be in my itunes.  i tried restoring the system to the time right before i uninstialled the old itunes... didnt happen.  whats strange to me is that the phone update didnt happen until the new itunes was installed.  at that point my phone still had all of its contacts. i might have restored to factory settings   any suggestions of how to restore an old backup?

There should be no need to uninstall iTunes to install a new version, that may be the underlying issue.
Contacts should be synced to a supported app or cloud service, simply sync them back to the device.
Pictures taken with the device should be on the computer, simply sync them back.
Do the backup files actually exist on the computer?  If they do not, there is nothing to restore.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:  \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:  \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
