F1 Help in VS2013 Index not Search

I've recently started using VS2013 after having used VS2008 and earlier versions . When I press F1 in VS2013 with a word highlighted in the editor I want the Index tab of help displayed with the highlighted word - as it always used to in earlier versions
of VS. What I get is a search for the highlighted word - with the invariable response 'Cannot find requested topic on your computer'. After switching to the Index tab and entering the word manually I get the help page I want. Is this change in behaviour
supposed to be progress (because it isn't) or am I missing something obvious?

Hi Nocaster60,
>>When I press F1 in VS2013 with a word highlighted in the editor I want the Index tab of help displayed with the highlighted word
Base don your issue, I tried to press F1 in the VS2013 with a if statement identifies word highlighted in the editor and then I found that I could not see the
if statement identifies be displayed in the Textbox under the index tab.
So if possible, I suggest you could tell me what variable or word you as a word highlighted in the editor from VS2013 so that we will further help you support this
issue.
Thanks for your understanding.

  • TREX Index not searching all entries in KM folders

    Hi
I am having an issue with some links\documents that are not being indexed by my TREK search service.  I have an index setup and the folders and links that are manually created are indexed properly and can be searched.  The issue is for online links that get published by users\developers of BEx queries via the BEx broadcaster.  Does anybody know how to resolve this problem or a workaround?  The optimal case would be for all links and folders to be searchable regardless if they are created manually in KM or are published via online link by the broadcaster in query designer to the KM folder.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Hi Aaron
The TREX should be able to index the titles (cm_displayname) of the links. Do you know if the titles of the links are searchable?
But I dont think the content can be indexed, unless you publish the reports as pdf-files instead of links, because the TREX cannot reproduce the report and index it afterwards. The TREX cannot index (crawl) javascript for instance, because it cannot perform that kind of client-like behaviour.

    Hi,
When I create a PO and go into the account assignment tab at the item level and try to bring up the search help by clicking on the Binoculars , nothing happens. The backend has been upgraded to ERP2005. We are on SRM 5.0
Any thoughts on why this could happen?
Can you shed some light on how I could investigate this issue.

  • Help will not search for search term

CS6, Windows XP. When accessing online help for CS6 applications, InDesign for example, InDesign Help / Help and Tutorials screen comes up. There is a box, Adobe Community Help with space for a search term and magnifying glass icon and the icon of the application for which I want help.  When I type in the search term and click on the magnifying glass or hit Enter,  nothing happens. Help does not search for term in question. What am I missing?

The instance name above should be change i guess? am i correct?Given that the Application Server JMQ instance runs on port 7676 by default, you were most likely changing the wrong instance.
Try adding the jmquser to the Application Server JMQ instance and perform the login test again e.g.
    /opt/SUNWappserver/imq/bin/imqusermgr add -u jmquser -p adminpass -g user
    /opt/SUNWappserver/imq/bin/imqcmd -b webmail.example.com:7676 list dst

    Please check your security configurations.

  • How to show only Indexes in Search Scope

    Hi All,
Is it possbile to allow users to choose only Indexed in search scope.
I tried editing the Search Options set, there i found that I can enable and disable search scope, but whn search scope is enabled both the Indexes and folders are visible.
I want to show only Indexes to the user. How can I hide the folder options alone in the search scope?
    Thanks and Regards
    George

Instead of using the Search Options set in the KM Search iView, use the Search Component Set.
Create your own Search Component Set by going to <b>System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge management > Content Management > User Interface > Search > Search Components</b>
While creating the Search Component Set, Specify <b>Component for Search Options</b> as <u>search_input_indexes</u>.
    This should help you.
Or you could do the following.
In the Search Options set, Do the following.
    1) Uncheck <b>Enable Search Scope Selection</b>.
    2) Provide the various index names in <b>Search Index IDs (csv)</b>
The above option would by default search the selected indexes for the search term and would not provide the user with the functionality of searching in folders.

  • Text not searching in pdf

i m not able to search text in pdf, font are using times new roman(embedded subset), when  i m going (ctrl+f) and write some string on it then result come no found, one thing when i m copy the text from that pdf and paste is on find option then coming some unreadeble text on find option but in this case text are searching. plz tell me which type of prb it is

your settings are equivalent to what I have, and PDF search works for me. Go figure. Maybe try reinstalling RH or getting some additional rights to your PC.
BTW, did you look at the SALIdxSvc12.xml file in the Program Files (x86) > Adobe > AdobeRobohelp 8 > RoboHTML directory? (referenced in a related post).
Mine looks like this. I think the circled line is what allows PDFs to be indexed for search:
(BTW, the only issues I've had with PDF search is when we generate the help in batch from the command line...for some reason, we can't do PDF search when we use that process.)
    Good luck with it!

  • Robohelp 8 - Not searching PDF

    Hello,
I know this has been discussed in multiple threads as I have been through every single one.
    Issue:
Robohelp is not searching content (text) in PDF files.
I am not a computer logged into a network..  I'm trying to figure out what the problem is.
    Running Robohelp 8.02
    Project is WebHelp "not Pro"
Output is to local C:\ drive
Here is a sample PDF that i'm trying to make searchable (I have many more)
    Download Link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?3jj9r57yuzj3r1s
I've created a new project and tried just putting that particular PDF file as a baggage and linking and it still wouldn't find information on the PDF.
I'm starting to think it has to do something with Robohelp being installed on administrator account and me being on a different account, is not providing the correct search results.  The compile goes so fast that it seems its not even attempting to create search terms.
Any suggestions would be awesome.  If someone wants to test the PDF in the above link on their own and see what results they get, that would probably tell me where the issues is.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

  • Need some advice with indexing and search server in multihomed environment.

    Hi,
I want to introduce the JISS (java indexing and search server). We have an multihomed environment with two frontends for convergence and imap/pop proxy service and two mail stores in a cluster HA environment
(Sun cluster 3.2, messaging server 7u3-15.01, convergence 1.0-12.01 running on glassfish 2.1.1). The directory servers (multimaster) are on speperated servers.
I viewed the jiss deployment pages in the wiki (http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Indexing+and+Search+Service+Deployment+Planning), but they are more confusing than helpful.
    My questions are as follows:
Can I put the jiss web service on the convergence server (to share the same glassfish server?
Is it better to put the indexing part of JISS on a seperate server or on the convergence server or better on the mail store servers?
Can I run the JMQ broker in an HA environment on the cluster? Is it possible to run JMQ together with messaging server in the same cluster group?
Can JISS index two mail stores (I didn't find anything in the config guide)?
    Best Regards,
    Ruediger

    http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite7/Sun+Java+Communications+Suite+7+on+a+Single+Host
Is it better to put the indexing part of JISS on a seperate server or on the convergence server or better on the mail store servers? This is answered in the Deployment Planning guide:
"Indexing requires significant CPU resources, thus, it is best to install the indexing service on a separate host dedicated to an ISS single server installation. If this is not an option, then install ISS on the back-end host as a single server installation, and install GlassFish Server as well for ISS."
Can I run the JMQ broker in an HA environment on the cluster? Is it possible to run JMQ together with messaging server in the same cluster group? This article may help:

  • Spotlight disabled - and Indexing and searching disabled - solution

I have tried most of the recommendations here - and finally even reinstalled and rolled back my entire PB from Time Machine this night - but Spotlight did not work. Got message in terminal "Indexing and searching disabled".
Solution found on web - below with 2 elements:
    1) Need to remove files that block for indexing
    2) Turn on indexing - Thanks to Patrick Kinsella
    1) Check your root directory for a file called .metadataneverindex
    If it's there, delete it.
You can only find it after making invisible files visible (se below)
    2) These great hints won’t work if Spotlight is completely disabled (which some people have tried and don’t know how to reverse). If all else fails, follow this procedure:
Make hidden files visible (copy and paste the next line into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool YES
!!!You need to know that the visible/invisible switch works only after a relaunch of Finder (via Command-Alt-Esc).
Now in (previously hidden) /etc folder in your root/hard drive, find hostconfig, and open it with any text editor.
Does it include this line:
SPOTLIGHT=-YES-
(note the two dashes astride YES)?
If not, type this line at the bottom. Save the file as hostconfig in your root folder (etc folder won’t accept it from a text editor). Now drag and drop this new hostconfig to /etc. This requires your admin password to replace the existing hostconfig.
Reboot, and your spotlight is working. This may be a long way around, but it worked for me.

Now make invisibles invisible again with this line in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool NO
To fire up Spotlight, you may need to type this into Terminal:
sudo mdutil -i on /
(the slash is important)
If Mail is still not searching inside Entire Message, type this into Terminal to index your old messages:
sudo mdimport /users/YOURNAME/library/mail [or whatever the path to your mailbox message folders.
The combination of these two did the trick for me.

This tip is useful, but a way too complicated way to do this. A better and simpler solution is as follows:
    1. Login in to your server as an administrator.
    2. Open the Terminal application (in your /Applications/Utilities folder)
    3. Type the following exactly as written in to the Terminal:
    +sudo rm /.metadataneverindex+
It will ask you for your password. I have never seen this file, so you may get a "file not found" error - in which case move on to step 4 anyway.
    4. Type the following in to the Terminal:
    +sudo mdutil -i on /
+
    5. Spotlight in the right corner of your server login should indicate it is indexing, and before long will start working.
I don't believe editing of hostconfig is required at all, and you don't need to do all this stuff with making invisible files visible since you are already in the Terminal anyway.
    Hope that helps.
