F380 All-IN-One Printer

Since i have switched from Windows XP to Window 7, I am no longer able to check the ink levels in my printer. What can i do to be able to do so again?  I still have the installation disk but I'm not sure if I need to use it again because the printer is already working.  Is there some other way I can see the ink levels?
Analyticalmind

Hello @Analyticalmind , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing ink read issues. I would like to try and help with that.
I would recommend starting by powercycling your computer, and performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

I see that you are having an issue with the light on the printer staying on solid.  One thing that you can try is to make sure you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip.  Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general.
Please click on the link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once you have the power cable in a wall outlet, power cycle the printer with the use of the ON/OFF button.
If you are still having issue or if you have any other questions, please feel free to write me back.
Hope you have a great Tuesday.

  • Wireless printing from a Deskjet F380 All In One printer

Is it possible to print from my G72 laptop to my F380 AIO printer without using a cable. I understand a wireless mouse and laptop operate by plugging a device into a desktop's USB port. Is something similar possible by plugging a device into teh printer?
    Thanks for your replies.

The F380 has no wireless capabilities - so using the usb cable is mandatory if you want to print from your G72.
If you still want to print wireless
what you could do is to buy a printserver - so you connect your printer to the printserver and this can work wireless towards your G72.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Print_server
    Another option
If you want to  get wireless is to get a Wireless printer , were this funcionality is build in.
an HP wireless printer would be the F4580.

  • F380 all in one printing from MS Publisher 2003 & Windows XP

I am having trouble printing from Publisher 2003 only when I use the multiple per page with the numberering or merge function to print labels 3 or 5 to the page.
The function works as the printer icon pops up and it shows a number of pages to print but there is no printing action. I thought it may be a switch or toggle on the printer setup. I have looked at the printer features "Poster Printing" which I have disabled. Not sure if that is the problem or even how to use it.
    Need help.

You got a Win 7 Sony laptop that can print over the network and a Win 7 Acer that can't.  In that case I would compare settings and look for differences.  Click on Device and Printers and then Printer properties.  Compare the settings on the ports tab and correct if needed.  Also look for differences in firewall configurations.  Is network configured as public on the problem computer and private on the one that works?

For some reason anytime we try to print a pdf (or photo) the pc will not let us select our HP F380 All in One printer, but instead will only let us select a Fax printer.  I have no idea where that would have come from as I have never faxed from this computer.

  • Does the hp deskjet f380 all-in-one can work on a mac os x 10.7.5 ?

does the hp deskjet F380 all-in-one can work on a mac os x 10.7.5 ? I bought my all-in-one F380 in october 2007 and I would like to use it on my new computer Mac OS X 10.7.5 bougt in december 2011. The DVD from 2007 seems to be unavailable now on my computer. Can you provide me a new way th install the F380 ? Thanks in advance,

Update:I use mac OS 10.10, but i scrolled down in the driver download menu and selected mac OS 10.6. There I downloadedHP Deskjet PSC and office jet full feature software and drivers v 10.3. This gave me access to full feature software including utility, customer partcipation and scanner software. HP printer software V. 3.1 then automatically downloaded when i clicked apple update in the application store. Interestingly however this is not the version mentioned in the software I use though. Post download, the version of the printer driver mentioned for Deskjet F380 is v2.05 and the version for the utility software is 5.24.2 valid till 2015. Now both my HP Deskjet F380 and  HP PSC 1310 all-in-one PRINT Thanks HP! ISSUES: HOWEVER neither can SCAN! while the F380 shows a scanning error, the PSC 1310 doesn't even pop up as a selectable device to scan with! PLEASE FIX THIS HP! FAST!!

  • All in One Printer no longer scanning (C5280)

I have an oldish printer/scanner that was working fine until I downloaded the update that came from HP on Aug. 13th. Since then, I cannot scan. I got an error message that the machine was disconnected from the computer which made no sense since I can print from the computer just fine. I did all the things the error message suggested: rebooting, disconnecting the cable, redownloading the driver. The machine worked for about 5 pages of the scan after the redownload, then conked out again.
I saw some directions about going into the registry editor window but they were for Windows 7 and below. I have Windows 8. I did not see a folder for Digital Imaging in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/H-P
If there are updated directions for Windows 8, pleae let me know.
I have an All in One Printer (C5280)

Hello @Toonces , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C5200 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.
Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on
    Options
    08-24-2011 06:34 PM
    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.
    Cleaning the Printhead Contacts
Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
Paper Path Issues in the Automatic Document Feeder
    Officejet Pro 8500 User Guide
The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.
