      well, i have created a search help exit by F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE function, but when a try to manipulate the record_tab on step 'DISP'  and input or delete new entries after runs the functions the search help is claering itself ..!!!
    i took a look in this forum, but i didn´t find a cleary answer.  Has someone faced this issue ?
    i will apreciated a help..!
    thanks a lot.

    Hi there,
    Thanks for some input. But as already mentioned above, I have tried using all possible types of dialog box (hit list), but the search help on the portal remains the same. I was wondering if there are any settings in the system level or portal content management which would restrict the entries to 150.
    Any clue????

  • Search help entries restriction

    Hi Friends,
    I have created an elementary search help. In which I want to display all the possible values with out resticting the entries. I tries with all the dialogue types(A, C, D). But it allways restricting with 500 entries.
    Could somebody help please.
    regards,
    Giri

    Hi J@Y,
    Thanks for your reply. But, when the control comes to search help exit, already the selected entries were restricting to 500. So, even I am changing the value to zero or space here, it is not solving the issue. So, could you please tell me how to skip the restriction before control comes to the search help exit.
    Many thanks

  • Search help entry

    Hi All,
    I am working on module pool programming, here user need to key in two fields, type and description. I have created a search help for this two field and assigned the search help to the screen fields. But user wants it to be only be picked from the search help not by the user entry, can any one tell me how to avoid user from manual entry?
    Thanks,
    Fed

    Algorithm for this would be :
    1. Make the field in question "output only".
    2. At the POV event, call the FM F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST. It will call the search help explicitly.
    3. Once the user selects the values use DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE to update the screen values.
    You can refer to this thread for a similar requirement : Using F4 help for a selection-screen field which is not input enabled

  • Missing help information?

    I find that some labview objects do not link to any description or help information. For instance, when I drop a control, say the "file path control" from the "string & path" palette onto the front panel of a vi, there is "no description" available in the context help panel, there is no "help" option on the associated drop down menu, and there appears to be no corresponding entry in the labview help documentation when searching for "file path control". This seems to be true for most, but not all of the front panel controls. It is also fairly common to have difficulty finding results on search terms entered into the "search the labview help" dialogue. Very often I find quoted help entries on the labview web site that I can't locate on my machine. For instance, I spent a very long time searching the installed help documentation trying to figure out how to convert between the numeric value returned by a color box constant and the actual color contained within. A quick google search returned a Knowledge Base entry on your website titled "How Does a LabVIEW Color Box Interpret a Numeric Value for Color?" This entry quotes help documentation from a Labview product manual that explains how the color box constant is encoded. I realize that the entry on my machine may not be exactly the same as the entry quoted from your published manual, but darned if I can find anything that gives the slightest hint in my installed help documents. Is there something wrong with my labview installation?

    Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my first post. When I place a pre-written function on the block diagram, a handy description pops up in the help panel,  a detailed description is available in the labview help documentation and it has a nice help option on its drop down menu that I can click on for info. The controls that I select for the front panel are, of course, pre-written functions as well. That is to say; they were created by someone other than me and they do things in a specific fashion that might not be totally apparent (to a dummy like me). Because the drag and drop interface for building the block diagram is similar to the drag and drop interface for building the front panel, it instinctively feels like there should be some sort of description there of the control functions that come with labview, just like the descriptions of the block diagram functions that come with labview. I think what I was looking for might be the help button that I've managed to find by right clicking on the control object, then selecting properties from the drop down, then looking in the lower right hand corner of the properties section. Funny thing is, I read the path properties entry from the file path control that I dropped on the front panel, and I still can't figure out how the control selects the default search folder if it isn't specified, and I'm still not sure whether I can somehow programmatically set the default folder for all "file path controls" on the front panel at once. I'm still searching for that answer in the installed documentation because I feel like I should avoid posting lots of questions to the forum unless I'm sure that the answer isn't sitting right there in the documentation somewhere, which leads me to the second example, the color box constant conversion thing.
    I read that same help description that you found which is why I was so confused to find that the number I was looking at was not a hexidecimal and had a different number of bytes than the help file specified. It turns out that if you create a color box constant on the block diagram and pick a color, any color, nothing up my sleeve- then create an indicator to output that color, you'll find that the color is not a hexidecimal alphanumeric with six values and three bytes, it is instead represented by a thirty two bit integer. that's one more byte than in the help description, and the integer didn't seem to have an obivious pattern in it that would give away how to turn a red green blue, three byte number into the 32-bit integer that the color box constant shoots out. So here's the official description from national instruments that tells me what the heck is going on with the color box color to integer conversion:
    "A color is represented by a 32-bit integer, with the lower three bytes representing the red, green, and blue components of the color. For a range of blue colors, create an array of 32-bit integers where only the values of the low bytes change (the low byte contains the blue component). To create a range of gray colors, you need to create an array of 32-bit integers where the red, green, and blue values of each element are the same."
    so you see there are four bytes with one byte empty that you have to assemble into an integer. or decode by doing the reverse.
    and the quoted description is from the LabVIEW Picture Control Toolkit Reference Manual Version 1.0. But of, course, the description of how to convert from an integer into a color and vice versa must be in the regular documentation somewhere, because it's a fairly fundamental thing. So I looked in my installed help documentation again to see if I could construct a search phrase to find it, so I would be a little wiser about how to search for specific info in the help files, but I'm just not able to locate it. And, of course if I create a color box control and go into the properties and find the properties help button for the Framed Color Box Properties Dialog Box it doesn't actually say anything about what happens between you picking a color and it shooting a number over to the block diagram, which makes me think "Ok. there is a description of this pre-made control somewhere else, and I'm just not looking in the right spot to find it, because who would give you a big ol' palette of these pre-made controls to use, and leave you wondering what the heck some of the controls are doing when you use them?"
    So I was thinking that I'm not looking in the right spot for documentation, or I'm not searching in the best way, or that maybe I'm missing part of the help documentation or something.

  • Issue With Search Help in Module Pool

    Dear All,
    I have an Issue with Search help. I have created a Module Pool Program. In this module pool, User requires the search helps for the fields.
    Imagine there are 3 fields on a screen. Field1, field2 and field3.
    Field2 entries depends on field1 and field3 entries depends on field1 and field2.
    I have created a collective search help. and created the corresponding Ztables to maintain the search help entries.
    Now I assigned the same collective search help to both the fields . i.e. field2 and field3. But when i execute the module pool program, and press F4 on these fields , the data shown is write. BUT for the 3rd field, when I select F4, The second field values are transfered to the screen, instead of third field value.
    Any Idea will be appreciated .
    Help me , Its very Urgent.
    Regards,

    Did you check the screen field names & search help name? is it identical & unique?

  • TO ADD A CUSTOM ENTRY IN RIGHT CLICK POP UP MENU IN ORACLE HRMS FLEX FIELDS

    We are building a custom help for Oracle HRMS. For this I need to add a custom Help entry in the right click pop up menu. I did this by adding the code APP_POPUP.INSTANTIATE('POPUP10','Custom Help',TRUE,'LINE') in the APPCORE lib. After this change the right click menu shows the new entry 'Custom Help' when user right clicks in any of the form but the new entry Custom Help' doesn't show up when I right click in flexfields. I am sure I need to do some thing else for flex fields.. Does any one have any idea on this ?

    You have to refer to the Current Form, Current Block , Current Item so that the menu appears only in the form where you want to see.

  • "Read From Binary File" function Help ambiguity

    I must be getting tired, but for some reason a doubt crept in my mind as I was designing a new piece of code this morning:
    "is the "Read From Binary File" using the last file position or is it starting from the beginning of the file?"
    "That's a stupid question", I told myself.
    "I used this function a million times and have always assumed it is reusing the last file position. Moreover, there is no file offset input to that function, so WTH am I afraid of?"
    So, for kicks, I fired up the Help window and read the following description (*):
    Reads binary data from a file and returns it in data. How the data is read depends on the format of the specified file. This function does not work for files inside an LLB.
    (*) BTW, has anybody ever complained that you can't select and copy anything from the floating Help Window?
    Not much there. I particularly admire the phrasing of the second sentence... What about: "This function can do a lot of things, but it would much to complex to describe this is extensive details, so if you are asking, you probably can't afford using it"?
    Anyhow, I clicked on the "Detailed Help" and got this (among other things):
    Use the Set File Position function if you need to perform random access.
    WHAT? I am pretty darn sure I DO NOT USE the Set File Position when I read a file in successive and contiguous chunks. I just pass the file refnum into a shift register and back to the function and that's it.
    Now, the description of the "Refnum Out" ouput says: If file is a refnum or if you wire refnum out to another function, LabVIEW assumes that the file is still in use until you close it. Translated in plain English, is that supposed to mean that if the file is not closed it is open, or is that implying that it contains more info that just "the file is open and can be found here"?
    I started searching around and finally ended up with the entry for "refnums, file I/O". Down the bottom of the (long) article, I found this under the heading "References to Objects or Applications" (but nothing specific to files, BTW):
    ...LabVIEW creates a refnum associated with that file, device, or network connection...
    [...]  LabVIEW remembers information associated with each refnum, such as the current location for reading from or writing to the object and the degree of user access, so you can perform concurrent but independent operations on a single object. If a VI opens an object multiple times, each open operation returns a different refnum. LabVIEW automatically closes refnums for you when a VI finishes running, but it is a good programming practice to close refnums as soon as you are finished with them to most efficiently use memory and other resources.
    So it seems that my recollection was correct. I do not know what the "degree of user access" for a file is, but that's not the topic of today's post.
    So, my point is: the Help File for this function is incomplete or ambiguous at best. Please correct it. And provide a link to the "refnum, file I/O" Help entry in its detailed Help. It would H E L P...
    Thanks for reading.

    Reading in succesive chunks is *NOT* random access. An open file always has
    a current position, which is updated with each read or write operation.
    You only need to set the file position if you want to start elsewhere.

  • T-code PA30(SAP HR) search help exit problem.

    Hi Experts ,
    I have a requirement to restrict/show particluar Wage Types in PA30 t-code on basis a  company code of a given the employee (PERNR).
    The field PERNR/Company code are not there in the parameters or selection method of the elementary search help H_T5W3A(PA0151-LGART field) .
    I have managed to add the field pernr to the parameters of this elementary serach help H_T5W3A and also given it as a importing parameter in the custom search help exit FM.
    When i debug the PERNR/Company code don't get populated in the FM parameters.
    I need this PERNR/Comp code to be poulated in order for the search help entries to be restricted as this is the requirement.
    Please tell me what step i am missing here.
    Any other workarounds for this requirement.

    Hi,
    Adding an importing parameter just provides the user to restrict the search by entering the field value. For this you need not write a search help exit. You only need to join the tables with the fields properly in the search help. However if the Wage types need to be populated as per the company code and if you have included the company code as an importing parametr, then everytime the user clicks on the F4 help for Wage type, he "has" to enter the company code in the pop up that appears for selection criteria, otherwise how would the search help know the value that you have entered for company code.
    Without entering the company code in the pop up that would appear to restrict the search, the search help won't work as there won't be any other way to make it aware of the value entered.

    Hi Alex ,
    I am using a standard F4 Help for that field ,
    How can I change the help entries at runtime based on the value in dropdown.
    If it is not possible with standard Help , then How can I create a Custom F4 Help,

  • Z search help cannot be returned.

    Hi all,
    I have redefined the method GET_V_TAXTYPE:

      ls_ddlb-key = 'BR1'.
      ls_ddlb-value = 'CNPJ'.
      APPEND ls_ddlb TO ct_results_tab.
      ls_ddlb-key = 'BR3'.
      ls_ddlb-value = 'Inscrição Estadual'.
      APPEND ls_ddlb TO ct_results_tab.
      ls_ddlb-key = 'BR4'.
      ls_ddlb-value = 'Inscrição Municipal'.
      APPEND ls_ddlb TO ct_results_tab.
      MOVE 'Tipo' TO ev_key_title.
      MOVE 'Denominação' TO ev_value_title.
    But when i selected the value on search help the value cannot returned to the field, what is wrong?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I guess you do not have any problem with the search help. It is getting displayed properly, right?
    You just cannot populate the value selected in the search-help to your UI field. Isn't it?
    If that is the case then insert the following code in the GET_P method of your attribute:
    CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter~fp_fieldtype.
          IF owner->view_in_display_mode( ) = abap_true.
            rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_text.
          ELSE.
            rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_picklist.
          ENDIF.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event.
          rv_value = 'SELECTED'.
      ENDCASE.
    This will trigger the event SELECTED when you click on the value help entry.
    Then you can write code in your view cotroller method EH_ONSELECTED to set the entry to your attribute.

  • Search help import parameter

    Hi,
    I have 2 columns in my ALV table. COL_A and COL_B.
    My requirement is to populate the search help entries of COL_B based on COL_A. but if COL_A is left blank then search help of COL_B should display all values based on user access.
    Can I access value of import parameter (COL_A) of dictionary search help in search help exit so that i would know whether COL_A is empty or not.
    Please let me know how can I access value of import parameter of dictionary search help in search help exit .
    Thanks,
    Feroz

    Hi Feroz,
    It is easy..
    Just mention both column A and column B as importing paramenter.
    and use this code skeleton..
    use it in the "select" call control step
    CALL FUNCTION 'F4UT_RESULTS_MAP'
        EXPORTING
          source_structure   =  'XXXXXXXXX'
          apply_restrictions = ' '
        TABLES
          shlp_tab           = shlp_tab
          record_tab         = record_tab
          source_tab         = 'XXXXXXXX'
        CHANGING
          shlp               = shlp
          callcontrol        = callcontrol
        EXCEPTIONS
          OTHERS             = 0.
        CALL FUNCTION 'F4UT_PARAMETER_RESULTS_PUT'
        EXPORTING
          PARAMETER   = 'XXXXXXX'    "this can be your column A
          fieldname   = 'XXXXXXXXX'
        TABLES
          shlp_tab    = shlp_tab
          record_tab  = record_tab[]
          source_tab  = lt_time_range
        CHANGING
          shlp        = shlp
          callcontrol = callcontrol.
    callcontrol-step = 'DISP'.
        CALL FUNCTION 'F4UT_PARAMETER_RESULTS_PUT'
        EXPORTING
          PARAMETER   = 'XXXXXXX'    "this can be your column B
          fieldname   = 'XXXXXXXXX'
        TABLES
          shlp_tab    = shlp_tab
          record_tab  = record_tab[]
          source_tab  = lt_time_range
        CHANGING
          shlp        = shlp
          callcontrol = callcontrol.
    callcontrol-step = 'DISP'.
    here, source_structure is the structure of the table where the data is available which is the "source_tab".
    Parameter field is the name of parameter specified in search help. and fieldname is the field corresponding to the paramer in the table "source_tab".

  • UPK 11 Installation into EBS - Link to Standard Online Help goes away

    Hello,
    I have a question where I need your help. We have installed EBS R12.1.3 and UPK 11. As soon as we perform the described steps in the In-Application Support Guide for UPK11, we are getting only the UPK Player back, when we click on "help in EBS". The Standard Helps is gone, and we can't bring it back. This is the case for the Forms and the Web Interface.
    We would like to get a choice if we like to continue with
    a) UPK Player or
    b) EBS Standard Help
    Has anyone an idea how to solve it?
    Kr
    Volker

    Hello Kerry,
    thanks for your replay. Let me explain how I have understood the way to work with In-Application UPK Content.
    If you enable context sensitive recording in UPK (new profile option in EBS R12.1.3.), your content will be marked and each topic will be flagged to be related to EBS. The idea behind is to limit the topics when a user asks for UPK help to the once which are related to the current form.
    This marker is also related to the generation of the /oracle/hemi/oracle_gateway.html file as part of your content, which is located in my "Publishing Content/PlayerPackage/oracle/hemi" folder.
    So I took everything under PlayerPackage and have put it into my EBS folder $OA_HTML/PlayerPackage (simple ftp).
    I changed the Web Agent profile value which points currently to /OA_HTML/PlayerPackage/oracle/hemi/oracle_gateway.html and it works like described in my first post.
    The content we are deploying this way is only related to EBS. In addition we have recorded more Topics related to other 3rd party systems. We haven't decided yet where to put this. Personally I wouldn't put that into the same folder, but would create some links from a to-be-created help entry screen (simple html) to allow users to go to EBS UPK help directly or to any other 3rd party UPK material. In all cases my own links will point to the different Players' package oracle_gateway.html files.
    PS: we are currently investigating to which extend the metalink note ID 1446398.1 helps us (the Peoplesoft part)
    Is my explanation helpful?
    Any follow up question is welcome!

  • Downloading SAP-Help

    Well, perhaps it is a repost, but I searched the forum and didn't find a suitable thread.
    In the past I downloaded some PDF-Files from SDN, SAP-Help and so on, for example the "SAP NetWeaver Developer’s Guide - Running an Enterprise Portal" (Mai 2006). It includes all the chapter content from SAP-Help.
    So I can search in the PDF and I have it full text indexed with some other Guides. As another point I can read it offline in train and at a customer, were I don't have access to the internet.
    During the last months I recognized that many PDF documents become older and older but I cannot find new versions of it. So does anyone know a suitable resource to find these guides (extracts from Sap-Help) or does anyone have a trick how to create a PDF or something similar from Help-Entries?
    I already tried out some web-page download tools, but they all haven't worked as I want: no pics, download of first level only or download of really toooo much(!) contet. I don't want to install the complete Help-Entries on my notebook, because Disk-Space is low and I only need some extracts (for example the chapter Running an Enterprise Portal).
    Perhaps there will be a "create PDF"-function as it is at SAP-notes? Does anyone have informations if there is something like this planned?
    Best regards,
    Christian

    The link was not completely useful.
    There aren't many PDFs online at the moment, download with a web capture tool doesn't work at me (I tried really a lot tools) and I don't want to install the complete SAP-Help for NetWeaver from the Installation DVDs (more than 2 GB, I think).
    Sorry for double post, but I am missing a move thread function
    Next time I will look in all boards if there is a suitable forum.
    How can I close a thread??
