Problem:
I have a problem with connect my printer wireless.
It means I connet it. I can print wireless. But I can't take a scan.
In win7 was a special app for my printer. But now I can't scan on USB or via Wi-fi.
If I install drivers for your website nothing happens.

Hp f4580 printer stopped working with Microsoft Surface RT 2

Have just bought a Surface RT2 (Windows 8.1 RT is the operating system). It recognised my HP Deskjet F4580 all in one printer fine at first, but now does not. First it showed it as off line, so I followed Microsoft advice and removed the device from my tablet in order to re-install it, but now it can't find the device.
Things I have tried:
1.I have checked that the printer is in fact on-line by successfully printing with wifi from another laptop.
2. I have connected the printer with the USB cable. The printer is recognised, but when I try to print to it, it asks me which file I want to print to, and doesn't print. Correction. I have just tried again with an USB connection and this time (about 6 hours later) it worked with USB connection, but still won't work on the network.
3. I have checked the printer's compatibility with the tablet. The Microsoft website shows limited compatibility, suggesting that it should print, but probably won't scan.
4. I have rebooted the tablet, the printer and my wireless access point/router
I suspect that one of the many Microsoft auto updates may have something to do with this, but I can't find any way of restoring to an earlier restore point. I read somewhere that 8.1RT does not have the system restore facility.
Any ideas about how to make this excellent printer work with my new device?

Hi dikahn, welcome to the HP Forums. Windows RT has a refresh option. If your printer is working USB but not on the network, then it is probably not an OS issue. It is a networking issue of some nature. Check the IP Address of the printer. It should not start with 169 or 0. If it starts with 192 (most often), then it has been given an IP by your router. The next thing to do is to see if you can communicate to the printer from your tablet, by opening a web browser (preferably Chrome) and typing in the printer's IP address. If it sees a settings page (Embedded Web Server) then there is communication. If not, then it is likely a firewall, or router setting causing it. Make sure the printer is on the exact same network as the tablet. If you have a dual band router (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) then they must be both on the 2.4. Try power cycling all devices and retrying the install. Refer to this for the install information:

After upgrading to Mac OS 10.9 My HP Deskjet F4580 all in one printer no longer scans. How can we fix it?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks, but now my HP Deskjet F4580 All in one printer will not scan any documents either as PDF or as JPG, how can we fix this?

I have simialr problems, after i scanned the ducuments or pictures, i can save it for only once, but the file is just black pictures with many lines through them. When i try to save it again, then it says ''An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.', which then doesn't allow me to do anything of saving the file or even just to print it out.

F4580 - WiFi works on Vista but not XP???

Just bought a F4580 as needed WiFi (old PSC 1410 still working OK). Have installed onto Vista laptop, fine. Have failed 4 times to get it onto XP laptop despite reaching the stage of recognising the printer on the network and printing the test page, then freezing at 38% saying 'Hardware Problem' "The data is invalid"??? (it does install OK via USB, of course)
I have been through all the 'fixes' on HP website and same result.
Anyone any idea why it gets so close then dies on me? PLEASE.

Let's add the printer manually since it appears the software is already installed for your USB connection.
Verify that you can browse to the printer's internal web page by typing its IP address into a browser.
1. Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
11. Click "Next"
12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"

Can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer with the AirPort Extreme Base. The printer is NOT connected at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, and is placed in another room. It worked just fine with my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). Help me!

I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...

Can't print on my F4580 all in one from my MacBook with OSX via usb

Hi Forum,
I have a HP F4580 All-in-one printer/scanner which worked fine on my old laptop with windows vista.
The laptop has now died so i thought I'd try Apple.
I now need to print some stuff off for work but it doesnt seem to produce anything.
It's plugged via usb and its has been setup on the Mac through the System Preferences and Printer & Scanners icon but when you click print on the document you want the little printer icon pops up on the dock at the bottom but the printer never prints anything!!
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong or if it evens works through OSX.
Please help.

No problem!
I would recommend repairing the disk permissions on your computer by following this Apple document here. Once this is complete, make sure your Apple updates are complete by following this Apple document here.
Now, I would reset the printing system on your computer. Please follow this Apple document here. If your USB connection isn't responding correctly, then follow this Apple document on USB: Troubleshooting Error Messages. I will be looking forward to hearing from you again!

Getting my F4580 to connect to my network thats not broadcasting it's SSID

I'm an Apple Mac user, I'm trying to connect my Deskjet F4580 to connect to my network wirelessly.
I am using a Belkin Pre N1 Wireless Router, which is set not to broadcast it's SSID.
I've tried entering the SSID manually on the setup for the F4580, but it can't see it. I do want to start broadcasting the SSID due to security issues.
How do I get the two speaking to one another.

Broadcast your SSID. Not broadcasting it is not a security measure. At all. There is freeware on the internet that can read your SSID whether you are broadcasting or not. Read more here.
Use WPA or WPA2 (not WEP which can also be broken with freeware) encryption with a strong password and enjoy more security and less hassle than you have now.

Officejet 7310 & F4580, scan fine, use MacBook Pro.Save as solid gray with banding.

I used HP Deskjet F4580 and it scanned fine, the image looked fine. When I saved the image (pdf, jpeg, png) they all come out as a gray color with banding. I tried another printer/scanner, HP Officejet 7310 and the exact same problem. I just purchased a new MacBook Pro, I can't remember if I had this problem recently on my last MacBook. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Julie

Be sure to use Image Capture or Preview, the HP Scan appliction is not compatible with Maericks and may cause issues while saving the scan:

Was the printer purchased on one country but you are in another? If so you will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work. HP's web page on the subject is here.
You can find the correct cartridges for your area from the HP SureSupply site.

New cartridge inserted, will not print, HPDeskjet F4580

Hi,
Deskjet F4580, inserted a new black cartridge, not printing, not even a test page.
Have an E in the quantity window , Flashing ! over black ink showing empty.
Initial info suggested a software problem, recommended uninstal and reinstal.
Did that, no change.
By the way how do I reset the Printer. I have a flashing orange light on extreem left.

I see that you are having issues printing, after inserting a new black cartridge. I would like to help you out today.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

My Mac Os x v10.7.4 with HP Deskjet F4580 printer. Help???!!

According to HP, my Mac Os x v10.7.4 is compatible with their HP Deskjet F4580 printer, however when trying to add the printer in my computer, it says "no available softwares at this time". The HP Support website said that donwloads are not necessary for hte 10.7 version and is available through Apple when adding the printer, but it is not working for me! Help???!!

HP F4580 on Imac in windows 7 bootcamp, won't install "no usb support" works OK on Mac side

Trying to install my HP F4580 so I can print from the Windows partition on my iMac,. Downloaded and ran the drvier utility but it fails saying "this PC has no USB support". Whereas the printer works fine on the Mac side of the partition.

Hi,
Although installing the printer on Windows by using Bootcamp may work, it is not guaranteed...
The windows OS actually being installed as a virtual envoirnment, which means your Windows OS is using your Mac OS USB drivers as the host, and not those intended for Windows.
Therefore it is not being recognized by the software.

Windows 7 Laptops Printing to Wireless F4580

Just installed an HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer. Situation is two wireless networked laptops with Windows 7 Home Premium. Laptop #1 can see wireless printer in Outlook and in IE9. Laptop #2 can only see wireless printer in Oulook.
Looking at other posts, many suggest reinstalling the software on laptop #2. That makes sense if I couldn't print at all on it, but since I can see the printer in Outlook on laptop #2, doesn't that suggest that I have a different problem?
On laptop #1 the only printer is the wireless printer. Laptop #2 has its own printer attached via USB as well as being able to see the wireless printer in Outlook.
Any ideas how I make laptop #2 see the printer in IE9?
BTW, seeing the wireless printer means that I can print on it.

Well, its not a printer problem, nor a router problem since the printer is connected to the router and available to the PCs. Therefore it is a computer problem.
When I see problems like this, the most frequent offender is the security system blocking access, that is why I asked. The next most likely suspect is software that is not updated or software files that are corrupt. Is Windows Update complete (are you at SP1)? How about Office Update? Have you rebooted both machines?
It makes me suspicious since the offending programs are both Microsoft.

Deskjet F4580 - Windows 7

Hi,
I've recently updated the OS on my Dell Precision 490, from Windows XP to Windows 7, 64-bit.
I'm having all manner of trouble trying to get my Deskjet F4580 up and running again. Running 'troubleshoot' (under 'printers and faxes') tells me that the driver is not installed. I've gone through this process several times now. I download the driver installer (by default it finds 'DJ_AIO_06_F4500_USW_Basic_Win_enu_140_175.exe) and run it. It extracts sucessfully, but then just gets stuck on the little animated spinning disc logo.
I've tried with the 'Full' driver installer, but this doesn't even get to the animated logo stage!
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I saw your post about the installation issues you are having with your Deskjet F4580 on your Windows 7 system. I want to share some of my suggestions with you to hopefully help!
First of all, try installing the printer by running the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
If that also fails, follow this guide: Windows 7: The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls
That should resolve the issue, however, if it doesn't, let me know how you are connecting your printer to your PC, USB, Wireless or Ethernet, and include and errors you may see.
