F8 will not put us into safemode

Working with an X61s. Trying to go into safemode, but tapping F8 every second or so upon restart (starting immediately after power on) brings us to a Lenovo screen... and that is it. We never get to the menu offering the choices of safe mode, safe mode with networking etc.
We have tried about 10 reboots... but still get the same result.
Have seen this on other lenovo laptops as well over the past year.
Ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The machine does boot into nomal mode just fine. We want to get to safe mode to troubleshoot some drivers.

Unaware of what is causing your particular issue but use the following boot.ini example to ensure the option to access boot menu choices by pressing F8 when choosing boot options:

It assumes you've installed Windows with default settings on a single partition inside a directory named windows.
The -0 parameter for countdown timer sets the system to boot and wait indefinitely for chocies.
In our experiences, we've noticed the option to select boot partitions isn't available unless two or more choices even if just to boot the same partition are available.
Your post seems to elude to some fluency so I'll spare the explanation of ARC paths but the Microsoft KB has relevant articles explaining those enclosed parameters if you need additional info or just refresher info.
The MSCONFIG.exe applet allows a "safer" but encumbered method of modifying the boot.ini in addiiton to the General tab to select Safe mode at next boot.
Don't just sit there, take a second and use the Kudo's button to compliment the people who help you.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

What type of file are they?
Can you see the folder in the left hand panel?
If you can't see the folder list click on the two pins to expand the tree. Then right-click to add the contents.

I have loaded directly into Lightroom using import and via Nikon Capture NX2. RAW files display fine in Capture.
In Lightroom, blank previews are created for each available image, with the message "Preview unavailable for this file."

To use iCloud, you will have to change your AppleID to an email address - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
The old AppleID rules used to allow you to use any name you wished, but that was stopped a long time ago, and iCloud will not accept such an AppleID, so you will either need to change it, or create a new AppleID just for iCloud.
BTW, the apps you are downloading have nothing to do with iCloud or your iCloud account. The cloud icon in the App and iTunes stores merely indicates the app lives "in the cloud" as the storefront is an entirely internet based service.

Computer will not automatically log into AirPort Network

I have a MacBook Air, running OS 10.7.5. It will not automatically log into my AirPort Extreme, running Version 7.7.2 (I have to affirmitevely go in and choose my network every time I wake the computer up or open it). Another computer in my home, a Toshiba, has the same issue.
The Mac will automatically log in to other networks that I regualrly use (e.g., at work and at friends houses), and the default on the Mac is set for automatic LogIn.
The iPhones in my home do not have this issue.
Any suggestions?

You're not alone.
I've had this problem since I unwrapped my brand new Mac Pro.
Even a clean install didn't cure it.

My 'cure', which has yet to prove itself over 24hrs, is to:
Set up a New Location in System Prefs / Network.
Deactivate all other connectivity options (Ethernet/BT/FW) bar AirPort.
Move AirPort to the top of the list.
Uncheck the 'Ask to join new networks' and 'Show AirPort Status in Menu Bar' checkboxes.
Apply settings.
I'll discover whether it works tomorrow morning, when I wake up my Mac.

Energy saver will not put Mac to sleep

I have a new Intel Mac mini. I am running off an external drive (MiniStack2). The drive was formatted and then had data transferred from old G4. The internal drive, when used as a start-up disk, functions fine. The external drive will not enter sleep mode (screen turns off, but not HD). The G4 had similar problem. Not sure why one drive as start-up drive and other does not. I have quit all active processes and tried every set of options - the machine will not put HD to sleep.
Is there a plist or other file I must reload? I am certain this is a software issue. Problem in 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 (and 10.4.x on G4)

Safari will not stay logged into Facebook/Pinterest/Fitocracy/etc. after Mavericks upgrade. How to fix?

After upgrading to Mavericks, Safari now will not stay logged into any site that requires a username/password, such as Facebook, Pinterest, Fitocracy, etc. I can log in and browse for a minute or so, then all of a sudden it is as if I am not logged in. As an example, Facebook will require me to log in again, remember browser, and then I get the security warning email since I have that feature activated with Facebook. It is as if Safari completely forgets everything. I believe it has to do with the new iCloud username/password sync function... How does this get fixed?

Try deleting the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
If you still have problems, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. I
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

I've got automatic downloads turned off and I tried signing out and in via the settings and still keeps asking me for an apple id.
It doesn't do it continuously, it'll just pop up randomly ... if the phone is just sitting there it may ask for my apple id and regardless of whether I press cancel or enter my password nothing happens .. it may be another 2mins, 5mins, 15mins but eventually it'll just randomly pop up and ask me again. It does accept my password though because I tried entering an incorrect password to see what happens and it gives me the error saying it's incorrect, so when I enter the correct one in the box disappears and it accepts it as I say, but only for so long before it pops up again.

I successfully completed 6 of the 9 parts of the job application. the 7th part is the assessment where i click on assessment and it is to put me into the 35 minute test required before completing steps 8 and 9 of the application. Premiere Pro CC7 and CC6 will not put video or stills onto time line for editing.

Premiere Pro CC7 and CC6 will not add video or stills onto time line for editing. It wil play the clip but that's it. I have tried many different vidoe files, mov, avi and others plus jpeg stills, but no matter what i do i cannot move it to time line to edit. I have the 30 day trial version. I have watched the tutorial, done same thing, no luck.
Any ideas and help appreciated otherwise I 'll just bin the whole program. I have tried it on Final Cot pro 7 and there is no problem (thats on the mac, the premiere pro is on pc. )

Chances are you just need to create a sequence to put them on.
