Fac Reset and boot selection failure: 0xc000000f

I see some stuff here similiar but not quite what I need.
My brothers computer was having issues so we went to factory reset it and set it up with the minimum, like only windows and drivers and upon reboot it said Boot selection failure because a required driver is innaccessible. Status: 0xc000000f.
Please help! Thanks :)

  • G5 PRAM reset and boot from CD or HD not working

Here's what I did, in order, and the results:
    1) Booted up. Received login screen for Leopard, didn't know the password and wanted to reinstall OSX anyways to sell.
    2) Booted to AHT CD that came with machine. AHT loaded successfully.
    3) Decided to run AHT (Extended) to test before sold.
    4) after 10:59, AHT froze during RAM test. Seemed like normal behavior.
    5) 3 hours passed, suspected problem as AHT was still stuck at 10:59 RAM test. Fans Loud. Hard power off using front panel button.
    6) had 3.5GB ram installed previously. Removed 2x25MB chips leaving 6x512MB chips installed,
    7) booted to AHT CD. Ran Quick test. All passed.
    8) attempted to boot to OSX tiger DVD in order to install fresh OSX. Chime but Would not boot.
    9) attempted to boot to HD. Will not boot.
    10) unplugged machine. Waited >2mins. Tried to boot again. No luck.
    11) unplugged and pressed SMU reset button 3 times. Powered on. Chime still, but no boot.
    12) pressed opt+PR. Didn't do anything except initial chime. Sometimes mouse LED goes out (plugged into keyboard)
    13) pressed opt+OF. Open firmware loads.
    14) typed "reset-nvram" ok. Typed "set-defaults" ok. Typed "reset-all" frozen.
    15) hard restart. Tried numerous bookings. Would not boot original 10.3 install disk or 10.4 off-the-shelf disc or HD system drive. Will boot AHT disc.
    16) will boot to source select when holding option but neither boot to HD or Boot to install disc works, even though source selection screen detects OSX on system drive and Install disc in CD drive.
    17) ran AHT quick again. All pass.
    Any ideas???

Might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...

Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

  • TS2570 Hi, MacBook Pro & Snow Leopard- startup probs. I have tried repairing with the disk utility, resetting PRAM, booting in safe mode, and finally trying to get to archive&install the o/s, but it cannot find the destination volume. IsAn erase the only

    (10.6.8 Intel core duo 2009)
    Hi,
I have a grey screen and grey rotating wheel startup probs. I have tried repairing with the disk utility, resetting PRAM, booting in safe mode (which gave a subset of the errors that 'disk repair' did- namely- 'invalid sibling link, invalid record count, invalid node structure, invalid key length)  and finally trying to get to archive&install the o/s, but it cannot find the destination volume. Is an erase the only option? PS I have backed up most files individually, but my daughter did not back up any from her user account. Any help would be appreciated. J

  • The trackpad of my 13" macbook pro (mid 2012) has geen going nuts for about a week now. It randomly clicks and drags the cursor to all places on screen, it randomly clicks, selects and swipes. Have tried spm reset and pressure on whole trackpad. Help?!

It goes nuts for hours and the next day it acts completely fine. My macbook is impossible to work with when the problem is active; it randomly clicks, drags, selects and even selects words (in a yellow colour) to come up with latin(?!) translations.
Ive tried the reset (option+cmd+r+p) and it seemed to work at first but now it doesnt seem to have any effect whatsoever.
Also tried to apply pressure to the entire surface of the trackpad or just the top corners; no effect whatsoever.
It's been quite an expensive purchase for a young student like me and i've really enioyed it until last week.
I'd be relieved if someone came up with a solution; especially since its warranty has expired for half a year now.

  • FBRA, select 'Reset and Reverse' option only.

In FBRA, how to restrict user to select only 'Reset and Reverse' button?
Only authorized user can use 'Reset only' button.
    Regards,
    Anek

    Hi,
This can be acheived using standard variants.
In standard variants, you can set authorization group and restrict granting of user access
Refer the link [Standard Variants|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a023f383-83b1-2b10-3983-9fbbcbfd11f1] to make the menu items disabled.

  • How to reset and or safe boot ?

how to reset and or safe boot ?

    These are quite different things.
    To boot in Safe Mode.
Resetting, as you call it, is either doing a non-destructive reinstallation of OS X or erasing the drive and doing a clean install of OS X.

  • Windows XP system boot failure with \Boot\BCD status 0xc000000f

I have a ThinkCenter M52 purchased secondhand from my employer. It was originally loaded with Vista but was upgraded to Windows XP before I got it. (The recovery partition on the HDD is still Vista.) For the 15 months since I bought I have had no problems. I had to reboot earlier this week because of a software upgrade and now I get:
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status 0xc000000f
An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
From Google searches this is a Vista error, somehow the XP configuration has been lost. I have tried using a partition manager, BOOTCFG from an XP install disc, BartPE. I have run out of ideas, how do I fix this?

Did you check your HDD for errors?Try using Lenovo's hard drive quick test

  • My 3gs is frozen on the Apple boot screen with a spinning wheel despite resets and restores as advised everywhere I look? Any other tips?

I'm sure this is probably covered in here somewhere but I can't find it, after an hour of searching I have already done everything I see suggested!
I'm stuck on the Apple booting screen on my 3gs with the spinning wheel, I've tried resetting and restored to earlier versions and to blank but everything ends the same.
    Please help me!

Well if you are mechanically inclined you can try removing the battery and then reinserting it.  There are a couple of good videos on youtube--milliamp has one---.  You will need a .00 phillips screwdriver and a tool to remove the cables.  I just replaced my batter and I can say that the difficulty level is about a 5 out of 10.

  • My ipad reacts slow on touchscreen. I have to really puss an icon to select it, and then tap it several times. Scrolling is impossible. And there is a voice with names all the actions I do / the buttons I touch. I have done a hard reset and itunesrecovery

My ipad 2 does not react well to the touchscreen. I have to push the icons really firm (kind of selecting it) and then tapp them several times before something happens. And a voice tells me what buttons I touch. I have don the hard reset and a recovery through itunes. But the problems stays. Has anyone had the same set of problems? DirkiedH

You have VoiceOver turned on. To turn off:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
Triple click the Home button should allow you to go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn it off. Scroll with three fingers if necessary.

  • TS2771 I have just fitted a new sreen and lcd to my ipod 4th gen everything is workink, but im having problems with selecting the upperscace  and also the back space i have done a full reset and every thing i have tried has not resolved the problem

I have fitted a new screen and lcd to my ipod 4th gen and now I'm unable to select the uppercase on the key board also other key in the lower part of the screen are intermittent, I have now carried out a full reset and this has not resolved the problem, and the latest software is installed apart from this everything else is working can anyone help

Have you restored the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod? If so then you have a hardware problem. Maybe a loose/brken connector or maybe something else.

  • "An error occured with the boot selection verify media is present and retry" from OS Boot Manager

So I'm trying get my HP ProBook 6550p to boot Linux in UEFI mode.
Some sources say that OS Boot Manager points to \EFI\Microsoft\BOOT\bootmgfw.efi in your ESP, I've placed my EFI Shell there as a PoC test, which of course fails and errors out with the above message.
What am I doing wrong here?

That path would be for the Windows UEFI boot manager, which reads the \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD database to get the boot configuration.  In order to boot that path, the UEFI firmware has to be configured with that as the default.
If the computer firmware is not configured to boot efi, it will be trying to load the MBR and boot record.
A ufi shell would be in a path such as \EFI\Boot\ShellX64.efi.  To get that to work there has to be a shell entry available at boot time.  I have only gotten that to work once--and that was NOT on my g7-1117cl  laptop.
I have been looking into this for my Pavillion g7-1117cl laptop, so far with no luck.  I can boot into the diagnostics on the HP_TOOLS partition under the path \Hewlett-Packard\SystemDiags.  This program has the  name of SystemDiags.efi or SystemDiags32.efi.  Since it can load that efi file it should be able to load bootmgrfw.efi.  But it still needs to be configured in the firmware to boot to that file.

Try resetting your iPod:  Press/hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
