Face controls will not work

I have a 3G 40 gig iPod, I think. It's the one with the four touch buttons under the screen and the touch scroll wheel underneath those. Anyway, they have lost all sensitivity, even making it impossible for me to reset it by holding down the play/pause and menu buttons. The scroll wheel works, but very badly as I have to make an entire revolution in order to get the volume to go up one notch. There are also instances where it will click like crazy, or it will continously reverse through the tracks. I had this problem yesterday, and I just kept pressing buttons until it finally remedied itself, but now it's stuck again. Little help? By the way, I have tried several times turning the hold switch on and off and that just doesn't help.
EDIT: Well, I finally got it to function again by pressing extremely hard on the select button. Even though functionality has been restored, this just does not seem normal. I think I have something wrong with my iPod. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?

I am having a similar problem. My 4G was having this problem on the click wheel, then progressed to showing the wrong times in the calendar, then progressed to needing a hard reset (holding down select and menu) to start each time, and now is dead. It shows the low battery screen, even though I just charged it. I have done a complete software restore three times over the past month, and the progression of problems continued to this point (dead iPod). I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

My daughter has an iphone, ipod and we have a family ipad. for some reason face time will not work. it rings in but the connection is never made. I even had her phone into verizon and they couldn't figure out why facetime wouldn't work. Anyone have any ideas on how we can correct this. But they work normally when not plugged in? What kind of power source are you plugging it into? It maybe outputting more than what the iPod can handle. I had this happen to an iPod I plugged into a powerstrip that was plugged into the cigarette lighter in a vehicle an experienced the same thing.

Headset controls will not work?

For some reason, my headset's controls (Play/Pause, Vol UP, Vol Down) will not work with my iTunes. I have tried other headsets too so it is not my headset that is malfunctioning. I have tried my headset on a friend's iTunes and it works perfectly as well. I am not quite sure what is wrong with my iTunes but no headset's controls will control the iTunes. The iTunes version is 10.6.1. Any ideas? I've searched some of the forums but I didn't see any pertaining to my model of MacBook Pro.

A restore would have rule out the possibility of a software glitch or data corruption on the device. So at this point we can be pretty certain that it is a hardware issue with the iPod. As to what exactly, there is no certain way of telling.
You'll need to take or send your iPod in for service/replace either through Apple or a third party service.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I would like to know why my face time will not work. I have wifi everything works but it will not connect to the people I won't to call. They have wifi too it worked before but not it isn't.

TS2755 My iMessage and face time will not work!!!!!

I've just bought an iPad and when trying to set up IMessages and my FaceTime, it will not let me ..... It asks for my apple id and password (which are definitely correct) then it says that its failed and "please check network connection and try again"
Any ideas how to get this sorted?? It works fine on my iPhone and my emails are working fine on the iPad too.....

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I have just upgraded to IOS 7 and for some reason iMessage and face time will not work. It asks me for my Apple ID username and password and when I enter then it tries to sign in and then after a few minutes comes up with cannot activate try connection ?

I have just upgraded my iPad to iOS 7 and now FaceTime and iMessage will not allow me to sign in. I enter my appl I'd and password but after a few minutes I get a message to say cannot activate try network connection then try again no matter how many times you do this it will not sign in. Any thoughts ?

try resetting your phone by turning it off and back on again. The servers may still be having a hard time keeping up, so you may just need to wait a little while and try again.

Text and face time will not work on wifi

I am trying to use face time and iMessage on wifi. It worked for a little while, then stopped. Can anyone help with this issue?

yeah i just updated my mac to this new program.
now none of my stuff works i click i message it wont even load.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Are yo both using the same APple ID for FT (settings>FaceTime> You can be Reached At) anbd are you calling the other person using the the same email address or phone number that is listed there on both devices?

We have not changed any settings and now our face time will not work!

Since last week I updated my iPhone we now have 4iphone 4s who cannot now get facetime, yet on the same router the 2iphone 5s can receive calls no problem, Antony know why!!!!!!

If the 4S are still running iOS 6.x, Apple insists that is the problem. Especially after the recent release of 7.1.1.
