Face Detection NOT working on Desktop, IS working on Laptop

hey all,
OK, I have Trial setup on both my Macbook Pro and my Mac Pro.
On my Macbook Pro, face detection works fine and great.
On my Mac Pro, it does NOTHING. I even go into a picture and add a missing face and I get nothing on the cork board.
I make it scan for missing faces on a whole project, Activity monitor says it's looking for faces but none show up.
I've trashed .plist
I've trashed applicaiton support folder
I've reinstalled Aperture
I've tried having a project inside aperture and outside aperture
I'm upset. Any ideas?

I tried making a new Library. I just imported my first year's worth of photos and it's working now. Something got messed up in my previous Library.

Doesn't for me either. There's no meaning at all. It looks like another subtle downgrade from Apple to frustrate you for not having the latest iPhone.

Yes....It happens all the time. I also erased my HD and installed Snow Leopard but with no success. Tried lots of REBOOTING but nothing worked for me.As I have already installed the new OSX I think there is no need to go through the below procedure. What do you suggest?
Before you go through the ritual of reinstalling the entire system just try to do a "factory reset" of your bluetooth environment. To do this you need to run the Bluetooth Explorer which is a utility installed as part of XCode.
1. Launch Bluetooth Explorer.
2. Select the "Modify Software & Device Configuration" from the Utilities menu.
3. Keep the first 4 checkboxes checked (one will say "Full factory reset").
4. Click "Perform actions" button (lower right of window).
5. Reboot (possibly the Reboot NOW button will work, if not just do a normal reboot).
Hopefully that will clear your problem(s) so you can re-pair your bluetooth devices.

Does IOS 5.1 Face detection work with iPhone 4

I have upgrade IOS to 5.1 and face detection on the camera application does not seem to work. It doesn't seem to work on my iPad2 either. has anyone gotten this function/feature to work on either the iPhone 4 or iPad2?

To my knowledge it is not available on the iPhone 4. Checking the iOS 5.1 User Guide, it just mentions the iPhone 4S. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

New Router Working my desktop PC, but not the older laptop.

I just upgraded to a westell 7500 router and with the help of the Verizon techie got my desktop to work with the new modem. Then we turned our attention to my laptop and had issues; he even connected me with a Dell person, but after being put on hold, we got disconnected and I thought I'd try the forums here.
My laptop is an older one: Inspiron 1100 and I use a Dell True Mobile 1150 insert card. I use Windows XP and have service pack 3 and the latest drivers installed.
I cannot get the laptop to connect with my new modem (router).
Some bits of info that may assist:
1) After running a diagnostics for XP, I get "windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine."
2) In device manager, there is a yellow question mark next to Ethernet controller and PCI modem (don't know if that matters here).
3) In device manager, the network adapter is listed--Dell truemobile 1150--its working properly and latest drivers installed for it.
4) In network Connections, only one connection is listed: dell true mobile, not connected.
5) if I double click that connection, in the next window the wireless network WPA2 shows and it has a signal strength of 5 green bars.
6) double clicking that, and entering the proper WEP key does not connect me.
needless to say it is frustrating because the laptop is picking up on the router signal but not connecting to it.

Hey dale001, I know you are trying to get connected wirelessly but can you get internet access if you use the ethernet cable because if you can't get connected with it hardwired then your laptop has a problem. I would advise you to contact Dell tech support.

Face Detection on iPhone4s freezes on faces & won't work! Help!

Hi all. I've been searching all across the Internet in hopes that others are having the same issue as me. I'm hoping that anyone can shed some light on why this keeps happening to me.
I purchased a brand new iPhone4s in December of 2011. My phone was working great till around April 2012, I began having the issue that if I take a picture of people with the apple camera app (both front & back camera), face detection locates the faces but then freezes on me. Many times the camera won't take the picture and then shuts down and restarts itself. Other times, it will take the picture but only after several minutes. The camera app works great on landscape, but not faces. It doesn't matter if I'm opening the camera from the lock screen or in my unlocked phone.
I took my iphone into the apple store numerous times and it was eventually replaced. I started with a clean phone and just in case, I uploaded my apps back on my new iphone from itunes, not icloud. I did this to avoid installing the problem back on my iphone. Sadly, the problem is now arising again on a replaced iphone.
In addition, on my orginal iphone (before replacement) sometimes, if I would want to edit a picture in the camera roll, the picture would freeze and cause my phone to shut down and restart. I haven't encountered this problem yet on the replaced iphone.
Is this problem happening to anyone else? Please help. Thank you!

Hello, I would like to add that I recently experienced this problem with iPhone 4S. Multiple face detection defeinitely causes the camera app to lock up, whereas scenery pictures do not. It just happens to be rare for me to take pics with many people in them on my iPhone, so I was suprised to find this happening.
The only advice I could find was a forum post, which suggests the key is to always "unlock" before entering the camera app. Meaning, the quick-slide access to camera from the lock screen may be at the root of the problem.

Faces is not working anymore

got macbook a few months ago, and faces has been working fine, until the computer suddenly got frozen and needs to restart while i was transferring photos from camera to iphoto.
After this, some of the photos were lost, and faces no longer works.
the corkboard is now the demo version; the previous photos that i have added faces on, the names still remain. however, faces does not detect any faces anymore - and if i do add missing faces, it never gets saved. and when i tried to add a missing face onto the previously saved faces, then the previously existing name gets lost as well.
but i still often see the faces getting the synced/scanned little symbol on its side.
can someone help me to get faces working again.

Sounds like your Library database file was damaged at that point.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

You need to install Office on the computer from the installer DVD or disc image you purchased.

I have a similar issue - my iPod nano connects and is visible in Device Manager yet invisible in My Computer and iTunes. I've tried everything I can possibly think of to try and solve this myself, all in vain.
Mine is a nano 4G. I've been using it for quite some time without the slightest problem. I have been using WINAMP instead of iTunes to manage my darling nano.
Then, one fine day I bought a new computer and the nano would not show up in My Computer, though the nano display shows "Do not disconnect". On my old computer it worked (and still works) absolutely fine with win XP as well as with win7 (the later I currently use on my new/problematic computer, which I bought last summer and that's how long I've had this problem).
Of course, after several first attempts I gave up and installed iTunes. I've tried using the Apple support article "iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows":
- reset
- fully charged,
- cable works fine on two other computers
- in normal or disk mode makes no difference
- tried to find anything useful in the diagnostics mode
- reinstalled iTunes several different times since then to the latest version
- I've unplugged every other USB device except for my mouse and keyboard and tried several different USB ports on my motherboard (USB 3.0 and conventional), as well as trying different USB- related options in my BIOS.
- I've never used any Mac with this ipod
- I've tried fiddling with the win7 Services by stopping and restarting them and of course
- uninstalling the iPod drivers in Device Manager. After such an uninstall the ipod would automatically be recognised and "ready for use", i.e. being invisible in My Computer.
- Attempted to find any possible third-party conflict with msconfig or the possibility that my ipod is being confused for a network drive (for which I've disconnected my HDD, leaving only my SSD with the OS).
Sometimes, iTunes would note that iPod service (or something, can't remember exactly) failed to install properly and asked to try and repair it. I would click YES! and voila - no change! The ipod would rarely show up in iTunes on my problematic computer like this:
iTunes would warn me that the nano would need restoring so I would try and do it on my haunted machine upon which iTunes would freeze like you seen in the picture.
Despite this, I've updated and restored the nano on my father's computer to the latest version without any problems. This though, did not solve my problem in any way.
I can load music to my nano through my old computer (which for me is a real pain and hassle) and the gadget works normally in terms of its disconnected functionality.
I've taken my nano to the local service for repair and they said it was fine. Mercifully, they didn't charge for the diagnostics service (gee, thanks for not ripping me off!).

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
*Press Yes

Normally this happens because you moved, renamed or deleted these photos (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom. This is how to fix the problem: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

Dock looks screwy, clock is missing and LMB not working on desktop

This seems to touch on several parts of the os at once:
I maintain two iMacs in a retail environment - the accounts are managed and the users can only access some basic functions of the OS plus our POS software. They can't install apps or adjust settings so there's little they can do theoretically. All software is either in the OS or is made for 10.6 (MS Office on one machine, Salon Transcripts on both)
I first had this problem on one iMac that had 10.5 (the rest were on 10.4) and out of frustration, I upgraded both machines to 10.6 and now the problem happens on both.
1. Left clicks don't work in dock (3 button mouse. hover works, right mouse button works) or on desktop icons. Can't launch new apps but can cmd tab to active apps. Once in an app, LMB clicks works fine.
2. An open app might leave a copy of itself on the desktop (like a buffer not refreshing) except that I can launch the app over that image and the image will remain. It's very confusing to the users who don't know how to tell the difference.
3. The dock looses it's background graphic. The dock's mirror effect ends up mirroring everything in the lower part of the screen - apps, desktop, dock icons, etc. so the bottom inch of the screen is just a mirror of the inch of screen just above it.
4. The top bar clock and all icons on the right half of the bar are missing.
A reboot fixes all of the above for a short while and the problems return. This is really frustrating and debilitating during retail hours. Suggestions or fixes are welcome.
hardware: both are iMac 17" core 2 duo MA590LL/A, 1Gb ram, 160GB drives that are mostly unused.

Unlike SideStepSociety, I've never +wiped an HD and reinstalled from scratch+, finding it to be total waste of time. I've beta-tested every OS upgrade from Panther through Snow Leopard and always just upgrade them, ensuring that I have tested bootable backups/clones to revert back to. The only time I install the OS onto an empty volume is to test that the setup assistant does its magic by migrating from the previously good OS. Once I ensure that the procedure works, I wipe the HD, put a clone onto it, and upgrade it.
As for your query, if the original is mucked up, so will be the backup/clone. I use Carbon Copy Cloner instead of SuperDuper!, but both are viable.

When I check the link to the clients instgram account (seen on the home page instgram icon & last paragraph of that page, as well as last paragraph on contact page), its works on desktops and on mobile (iphone), yet when viewing the site on an ipad the link does not work. Confused to why this would happen as I've only created one site with the same link - HELP PLEASE!

In our branch office in Ethiopia we are experiencing some issues with the access to mappings. Our main office is located in the Netherlands. The Offices are connected with a VPN site2site solution.
We map a home folder to H:\ (which is working).
We map a Document share to L:\ (which is not working).
We map a Programs share to X:\ (which is not working).
All shares are DFS namespace.
We have set the according GPO which results in the following reg keys:

The detection says in the eventvwr (OfflineFiles) says:

So the Homedrive is working.
But when I try to access the DFS root I get:
Windows cannot access "\\DOMAIN.XXX.NL\dfsdata
You do not have permission to access....."
And yes, the user has permission.
So the L-drive and X-drive are not accessible.
How come?

Besides, instead of just focusing on slow link, this issue may be related to DFS namespace.
