  • Removed face tags in iPhoto remain on Facebook

    Hello,
I have published pictures with face tags to Facebook. Adding new faces to the picture in iPhoto works just fine, the changes appear on Facebook. However, when I delete faces from pictures in iPhoto, the tags don't get removed from the Facebook page.
I did click on the sync-symbol next to the published albums name.
Has anyone similar problems with Facebook synchronization?
    Thanks for any help.

There is no standard field for faces. To transfer information you must put it in the standard place that the new program will use. That does not exist for faces. One work around would be to use keywords. You include the available metadata in a photo by checking all if the boxes when you export the photo(s). What the receiving program is determined by the authors of that program. All iPhoto can do is write what it offers to the IPTC & EXIF fields which it will

  • IPhoto - face tags

I have seen a lot of people have been having this problem - when tagging faces manually on iPhoto the tags do not stick?
Is there a solution? I have rebuilt my library recently and this didn't help

With respect, a back up that's out of date is not a back up.
Similarly, while there is a db file for faces, as the back up is not up-to-date, the file will be useless to you in your current version of the Library.
    You could try:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • ITunes has face tags that it doesn't exist in iPhoto

I was trying to sync photos to my iPhone 5s via iTunes. But I found out there is a face tag that it doesn't exist in iPhoto. Is there a way to delete the face in the iTunes?

This happened to me also, a few days ago... I went to look at pics that were sent from just one person, all the other photos that people texted are there during same time period.  It is only this one contacts several photos that disappeared...   There is an arrow when I click on it it goes to a blank page?!?   Have you received any feedback or answers??  Did your photos  that are missing come from only one person or multiple?  If you have any information that might help let me know!!!  I really want them back!!  Thanks much!

  • How can you tell if a pic hasnt been tagged by iPhoto, and do you then...

How can you tell if a pic hasnt been tagged by iPhoto, and do you then do you then have to draw "missing box" around them
What I mean is tagged a few faces, imported some more pics, checked a few and they dont show as named faces, but are faces that are in my Faces source list (ie identified and named)
So do I then have to draw a box around known faces to me, and name them again (I think iPhoto will pop up as Im typing the names I already have)
It just means that even when i import and it doesnt name, I may have lots of pics that are of faces but not tagged and so not in my faces source list
    please help
    cheers
ps when are Apple going to upload the Getting Started manuals for iLife 09? its been a while since released now, ad they give a bit more insight than the video tutorials alone

No-one? It'll be nice to know how many pics of faces that arent yet tagged
    cheers

  • Does Aperture support deletion of multiple "unnamed" face tags?

Faces is a great feature.  I love it.
I have 40,000 pictures in iPhoto.  iPhoto currently does not have a way to select all "unnamed" face tags in a photo and remove them.  I have to click each separate "unnamed" face tag to delete it.  Because of the volume I am working with, without a global delete feature, I am looking at a 100-hour project (approximately 60,000 mouse clicks) to accomplish the deletion of all these "unnamed" face tags.
I was hoping that Aperture would offer this feature, since it is a Pro app.  I called Apple today and they told me that "No, Aperture does not have this feature, either."
Does anyone know if Aperture does have a way of doing this?  I tried to get an Apple Aperture support rep on the phone to think "outside the box" today on this, but he couldn't think of anything.
It just kills me that because I can't select multiple face tags in a photo and mass delete them with a single keystroke or click that I'm facing 100-200 hours worth of work, literally about 60,000 mouse clicks, in order to get rid of all my "unnamed" face tags.
Thanks for any ideas anyone might have.

Why is it worth 100 hours of your time to remove them?
(While I think_if_ there is a way to do what you want.)

  • Greyed out Face tagging- Still!?!

I have a library of 15,000 photos.  I would say only 1/16th of them have face tags.  I have done library rebuilding.  I have been on the phone with support to try their "Solutions".  I see no spinning wheel next to faces like it's actually working to find more.  However, iPhoto continues to write 387mb to my drive every minute while open.  I am assuming it is finding photos to face tag, but I look through and there isn't that many new face tags.  Terrible that it takes that much space to tag a face.  I have left my library open for about 6 months now and it's still writing and writing to my drive and tagging photos is still greyed out on a majority of my photos.
I want a real answer from someone who is intimate about the program.  If this program was made for a library of 500 photos then just friggin tell me and I will move on!
Does anyone know a proceedure that will fix this issue and force the faces to work properly?  Quickly identifying missing faces and allowing tagging of all photos in libraries this large.

So, what solutions have you tried? It saves time for everyone if you tell us all the things you know already won't work.
There's a question that might yield useful answers. You have provided no details at all, not even the most basic information such as the version of iPhoto, where your Library is stored and so on.
And yes, I would happily say everything I have already written to your face. Frankly, your frustrations with Apple Support are of no interest, nor is your unhappiness. I don't work for Apple, no one here does. But I know something of iPhoto and am often happy to help other users. That said, users who simply whine and are argumentative soon prove tiresome and I quickly lose interest.

  • Import separate library with faces 'tags'

I want to import some events with face tags from a separate library. How can I import the library with the face tags (and event names) from one to another? This is what I've done so far but have been unable to import the faces. I selected the event from a iPhoto library I want to move and exported the event/photos to a folder. I then opened iPhoto with the library I want to import TO and selected import. Photos are there, but no face tags or events. Am I missing something or is there an better way?

the best way to move photos between libraries is iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - Check their documentation - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/Help/table%20of%20contents.html - to see if they handle faces (I doubt that they do)

  • Faces Tags Gone - After New iMac Purchase

    Hello. First time posting here.
This week, I purchased a new iMac (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) and used the Setup Assistant to transfer data from my old iMac (G5 non-Intel).
All my iPhoto images transferred fine to the new machine. However, none of the Faces tags seemed to have made the transfer. When I click on the Faces view, I see an empty cork board with the "To get started with Faces..." instructions.
Any ideas on how to retrieve the Faces tags from my old machine? (I have the old machine backed up through Time Capsule as well.)
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your help.
After going back to my old machine, I saw that actually my Faces tags were missing there too. I must have somehow deleted them while trying solve another iPhoto issue I'm having. (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2253634)
So there were no Faces tags to transfer to the new machine.
Restoring from an older backup of my iPhoto Library did the trick. I now have all my old Faces tags back.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • No faces tag support for Flickr (aka faces don't = keyword)

Though iPhoto keywords have been always passed along fine to Flickr (using FlickrExport plugin in the past) the Faces info is not passed along as Flickr tags (keywords, however, are passed along as tags). What good does this do me once I've gone through all the facial recognition steps and want to share this insight with my Flickr following? Am I missing something?

    Terence Devlin wrote:
I wouldn’t think either of these things.
Why wouldn't you think that? I have to agree w/ Reuben, especially since this is the default behavior for iPhoto 09's built in export to Facebook! It mimics the native FB photo/face tagging verbatim. . .
Screenshot of a photo I exported (after being facially recognized) from iPhoto '09 after being imported into FB:

So yes, I think it's bordering on absurd that iPhoto faces don't produce Flickr tags from faces(or at least give us that option) or do the mouse-over-note capability that Reuben was referring to. . .especially since it can and does for Facebook.

  • Screensaver that displays picture or faces named in iPhoto

Does anyone know of a photo screen saver that displays either the location or the names of the people you've identified in Faces in iPhoto? I find when the current Annotated Collage screensaver (the one with the most information displayed, photo name and date) is showing people watching it are always asking me who is in the picture and where it is so it'd be nice to have that displayed since the information is in there already. Are these screensavers just Quartz Composer files that can be edited to add that info?

    Dear TD,
Thanks for the link... I watched it and I whent Ah Ha!  I had been tagging faces in the FACES menu... and NOT in the iPhoto viewing panel... So I went back into iPhot and operned and library and then an Event and opend an image in the event... and Lo and behold... there was NO face tag in the lower left of the screen as shown in the vide ( It shows how one opens a photo and  showld draw a box around any face and when the face button is clicked you are given the opportuniy to identify that face.)
How do I get THAT to happen... I am using iPhoto11.
    Thanks

  • How do I turn off faces recognition in iphoto

how do I turn off faces recognition in iphoto?  I mean forever!!

So by deleting the "Face Profile" or whatever it's called for the individual Faces keeps searching for, you think that's not a solution?
The actual pictures identified by faces are not deleted. Only the avatar and name you list to be looked for within faces is what you're removing.
Do you have a better solution? I'm all ears.

  • How do I do a mass change of face names in iphoto?  For example, I have 500 pictures named Michelle Smith, but she is married and is now Michelle Johnson.  How do I change all the photo face names to the new name en masse?

You edit the name in the Corkboard view.

  • Mandatory Face detection in iphoto, MetaData, iCloud

When will I be able to I turn off Face recognition in iPhoto?
Apple needs to change Faces recognition in iPhoto from manditory to optional. I want to believe that Apple is an ally in protecting thier customer's metadata.
Given the National Security Agency's recently revealed surveillance programs, Big data's passive cooperation, iPhoto's default metadata preferences, and Apples push to iCloud through hardware and software product decisions, Apple needs to change this mandatory iPhoto function. Match company practice to customer expectation.

iPhoto has no 'default metadata preferences' apart from some of the Exif and IPTC metadata fields that it supports.
Faces supplies zero extra metadata at all. None. Zip, Nada.
If You add names to the Faces, then you are adding metadata. If you don't add names, then there is no extra data in the Faces function.
Without names, what does Big Brother get even if - and it's a big if - this data is being uploaded somewhere. All Big Brother can possibily know is that there is a person or persons, unidentified, in a photo that is taken somewhere. If you don't give it the location, then they don't know where that is. (Given the effectiveness of the facial rcognition scheme, it might also know there's a tyre, stone wall or flower in a photo.) But without the data you supply - i.e. the name or the location - they get no more information than if they can see the whole photo So, if you're concerned, simply don't use the Faces function.
Remember, if you don't put the data into the machine, no one can get it out.

  • Face-tags in photoshop elements 8

In photoshop elements 8, are the "face tags" written" in the IPCT (or other metatags, like XMP), or are they only recorded in the database of PSE. Is it possible to insert them in the IPTC.
    (Excuse-me for my bad English...)
    Michlvill

the face tags or any nornal tag will not be written to the file, unless you explicitly mention by using Write Keywords tags to file option
