Face tagging to Facebook

Faces is great. It would save me a ton of time when uploading photos to Facebook if all the time spent tagging and correcting Faces in Aperture would also carry over to tags on Facebook. Ok, granted, in the Facebook album, I see the person's name, but it isn't linked to their profile and won't show up in "Photos of...". How can I get my Faces to sync up with someone's Facebook ID? Is it something I need to do in Address Book? Something incredibly simple I'm overlooking? Thanks in advance if you have the answer, or can point me to where to find it.

The Facebook ID is the email address the user registered their facebook account with. When entered correctly it should tag the profile.

  • Removed face tags in iPhoto remain on Facebook

    Hello,
I have published pictures with face tags to Facebook. Adding new faces to the picture in iPhoto works just fine, the changes appear on Facebook. However, when I delete faces from pictures in iPhoto, the tags don't get removed from the Facebook page.
I did click on the sync-symbol next to the published albums name.
Has anyone similar problems with Facebook synchronization?
    Thanks for any help.

There is no standard field for faces. To transfer information you must put it in the standard place that the new program will use. That does not exist for faces. One work around would be to use keywords. You include the available metadata in a photo by checking all if the boxes when you export the photo(s). What the receiving program is determined by the authors of that program. All iPhoto can do is write what it offers to the IPTC & EXIF fields which it will

  • Faces Integration With Facebook User Tags

Does anyone understand how (3.1) Faces work with "downloaded"* facebook photos?
Faces seem to behave a bit strangely images on Facebook (at least on images "downloaded" from Facebook). Edits to Faces in Aperture seem to be separate from those on Facebook. Any new faces added in Aperture are initially pushed to Facebook, and tagged users on downloaded Facebook images are initially added as Faces in Aperture. But after that, faces and tagged users seem to be independent. A tag can be removed on Facebook, without affecting its presence in Aperture, and a Face can be deleted from the corresponding image in Aperture without affecting it's presence in Facebook.
Worse still if you add a or edit a Face in Aperture, and then sync, once the Face is correctly mapped to a user tag on Facebook, it is sometimes "lost" in the Aperture version (it shows as "unnamed"). Those that are not lost sometimes get "disconnected" from the Aperture Face and are replaced by the Facebook user (indicated by a facebook logo). And sometimes (there's no apparent pattern here that I can discern) it works, and the Aperture user shows in Aperture, while the Facebook user is tagged on Facebook. (And yes, in all cases the users have allowed tagging, they have not removed their tag from the image in question, and the e-mails match and are visible to me.)
(There are other quirks, for example if a user has removed a tag from an image, Facebook prevents retagging, but Aperture provides no feedback about this; but these are minor and unavoidable.)
Does anyone understand the underlying model here? Is it just buggy? And is there a way to "reset" so that Faces/tags the "downloaded" image and the Facebook image are again in sync? (You'd think, that of all things, "Faces" is one thing Facebook could get right!)
*I haven't experimented with this in fully synced (as opposed to "downloaded") Facebook photos, but I do notice that some Faces in Aperture "switch" after a sync from the local Aperture Face to the Facebook user (the logo appears and the link to the Aperture Faces list vanishes), though it seems this process can be reversed.

    Hi Sagar,
To resolve this issue, do the following:
    1. Click on System Configuration Tab at the top.
    2. Click Mobile & Social on the Left Hand Side.
    3. Click Mobile & Social Settings.
    4. On the right hand side, you will see proxy server settings. You can remove the www-proxy.us.oracle.com from the proxy hostname and 80 from the port field.
Let me know if you still see issues.

  • No faces tag support for Flickr (aka faces don't = keyword)

Though iPhoto keywords have been always passed along fine to Flickr (using FlickrExport plugin in the past) the Faces info is not passed along as Flickr tags (keywords, however, are passed along as tags). What good does this do me once I've gone through all the facial recognition steps and want to share this insight with my Flickr following? Am I missing something?

    Terence Devlin wrote:
I wouldn’t think either of these things.
Why wouldn't you think that? I have to agree w/ Reuben, especially since this is the default behavior for iPhoto 09's built in export to Facebook! It mimics the native FB photo/face tagging verbatim. . .
Screenshot of a photo I exported (after being facially recognized) from iPhoto '09 after being imported into FB:
    http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll78/elvisinvegas/Picture1-1.jpg
So yes, I think it's bordering on absurd that iPhoto faces don't produce Flickr tags from faces(or at least give us that option) or do the mouse-over-note capability that Reuben was referring to. . .especially since it can and does for Facebook.

  • Faces Replacement with Facebook Friend

I've noticed that some of my Faces in images synced with Facebook get "replaced" with the corresponding Facebook user. This goes beyond (the useful and intended) matching of the Face to the Facebook user (through their e-mail address) and the generation of a tag for the picture on Facebook; it's an actually loss of data and functionality. The subject is no longer listed with his Face in Aperture, and the control linking to the Face is gone (replaced with a Facebook icon). Worse, this happens without my doing anything in Aperture or Facebook: one minute the image is among those associated with a Face, later it's gone.
    Is this a bug; a feature I don't understand?

  • Does Aperture support deletion of multiple "unnamed" face tags?

Faces is a great feature.  I love it.
I have 40,000 pictures in iPhoto.  iPhoto currently does not have a way to select all "unnamed" face tags in a photo and remove them.  I have to click each separate "unnamed" face tag to delete it.  Because of the volume I am working with, without a global delete feature, I am looking at a 100-hour project (approximately 60,000 mouse clicks) to accomplish the deletion of all these "unnamed" face tags.
I was hoping that Aperture would offer this feature, since it is a Pro app.  I called Apple today and they told me that "No, Aperture does not have this feature, either."
Does anyone know if Aperture does have a way of doing this?  I tried to get an Apple Aperture support rep on the phone to think "outside the box" today on this, but he couldn't think of anything.
It just kills me that because I can't select multiple face tags in a photo and mass delete them with a single keystroke or click that I'm facing 100-200 hours worth of work, literally about 60,000 mouse clicks, in order to get rid of all my "unnamed" face tags.
Thanks for any ideas anyone might have.

Why is it worth 100 hours of your time to remove them?
(While I think_if_ there is a way to do what you want.)

  • Greyed out Face tagging- Still!?!

I have a library of 15,000 photos.  I would say only 1/16th of them have face tags.  I have done library rebuilding.  I have been on the phone with support to try their "Solutions".  I see no spinning wheel next to faces like it's actually working to find more.  However, iPhoto continues to write 387mb to my drive every minute while open.  I am assuming it is finding photos to face tag, but I look through and there isn't that many new face tags.  Terrible that it takes that much space to tag a face.  I have left my library open for about 6 months now and it's still writing and writing to my drive and tagging photos is still greyed out on a majority of my photos.
I want a real answer from someone who is intimate about the program.  If this program was made for a library of 500 photos then just friggin tell me and I will move on!
Does anyone know a proceedure that will fix this issue and force the faces to work properly?  Quickly identifying missing faces and allowing tagging of all photos in libraries this large.

So, what solutions have you tried? It saves time for everyone if you tell us all the things you know already won't work.
There's a question that might yield useful answers. You have provided no details at all, not even the most basic information such as the version of iPhoto, where your Library is stored and so on.
And yes, I would happily say everything I have already written to your face. Frankly, your frustrations with Apple Support are of no interest, nor is your unhappiness. I don't work for Apple, no one here does. But I know something of iPhoto and am often happy to help other users. That said, users who simply whine and are argumentative soon prove tiresome and I quickly lose interest.

  • Face-tags in photoshop elements 8

In photoshop elements 8, are the "face tags" written" in the IPCT (or other metatags, like XMP), or are they only recorded in the database of PSE. Is it possible to insert them in the IPTC.

the face tags or any nornal tag will not be written to the file, unless you explicitly mention by using Write Keywords tags to file option

  • Import separate library with faces 'tags'

I want to import some events with face tags from a separate library. How can I import the library with the face tags (and event names) from one to another? This is what I've done so far but have been unable to import the faces. I selected the event from a iPhoto library I want to move and exported the event/photos to a folder. I then opened iPhoto with the library I want to import TO and selected import. Photos are there, but no face tags or events. Am I missing something or is there an better way?

the best way to move photos between libraries is iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - Check their documentation - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/Help/table%20of%20contents.html - to see if they handle faces (I doubt that they do)

  • PSE 11 People & Face tags & Metadata

    Hi All,
I'm using PSE 11 and have imported some photos that were being used in Photo Gallery.  My problem is the People/Face tags done in Photo Gallery are not recognised by PSE at all.  It detected all other tags OK and imported them but not the People ones.  It seems (logically) that 'real' People tags are in a different metadata field than normal tags.  However the People tags in PSE are just stored in the 'normal' metadata tags field.
So.. I guess I am asking if anyone knows of a way to get the people tags from metadata into the tags field which PSE will recognise in the same was as its face recon?  NB: I am aware of ways I can filter and retag but we are talking about 15,000 family history photos
I'm a little baffled that PSE is not making use of the metadata People field at all - might help get rid of all those nasty breezedata files.  But I guess they need a few ways to try to lock people into PSE once they go there.  BTW I've been using since the old V1 photoshop album.  Never found enough of anything 'great' enough to move but always 'baffled' by things PSE does, doesn't do, takes away or breaks each release never with a patch or update.
So any way to move data from People tag to Tags tag that still takes the face location?
    Thanks,
    Flano

There is no conversion process because the people module is new to PSE11.
Importing from earlier versions simply brings in key words.
You need to decide if you want to stick with your key words and get this:
Or fully use the new feature and get suggested people stacks:

  • Does Photoshop CC 2014 have the ability to do face tagging in pictures?

We have many group pictures that we want to identify everyone in the picture, but not paste text on the picture itself.  There are other products, even MS photo that have this ability, that create a small file attached to the picture with the names (and knows the face) of everyone in the picture.  I want to be sure Photoshop CC 2014 can do this before I Pay for a yearly subscription.  Photoshop is the best product for general photography work and I would like to have one product that does this face tagging as well.

    Good day!
Photoshop does not have facial recognition, Photoshop Elements does, though.
You can make use of the free 30 fay trial to figure out if Photoshop proves the features you need.

    Fred,
Thanks for posting that its good to share such discoveries. As of EA12 (and EA13) <afh:body> is what is known as a "rendersChildren" tag. It needs to do so in order to support partial-page rendering This means that template text inside it needs to be wrapped inside <f:verbatim>.
For later releases of ADF Faces, I've filed an enhancement request to loosen up this restriction for <afh:body>.

  • Face Tagging in Elements 13

    Hi Forum
Can anyone help to explain why the Auto Face Tagging process (Add People) in Elements 13 would not find what are obvious faces in images containing very clear faces? The faces are 'face on' and large in size and yet Elements reports- No new People found in your selection.
Any help welcome as not keen to have to manually tag a few thousand images.
    Regards
    David

    Hi David,
Thank you for the very detailed reply. I appreciate you taking the time to list it all out.
I followed each of these steps exactly as listed. After I copied the images back, PSE13 saw them and then I tried to add a face. It analyzed the photo and it still says "No New People Found In Your Selection". I removed the tags, renames the Breeze file, deleted from the catalog, everything.
I was so hoping that this would have corrected it.
And now PSE13 is starting it's memory leak (that I reported in a different post).
Whenever it analyzes a photo and doesn't find anything, it goes into a loop, leaking memory until the app eventually crashes because of no memory left. Other running apps die as well. And I have 16GB of RAM.
Thanks again for your help. I will keep researching.
