Ok. I disabled hardware acceleration. The only extension is the McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 15.1.0, which was already disabled. I then disabled all plugins (Acrobat, Google Update, Intel Identity Protection (2x), Java Deployment Toolkit, Java Platform, MS Office 2013, Quicktime, Shockwave, Silverlight), which were all up to date.
Normal or safe mode still has same result. No startup, no option button and no customize.

IPad with IOS 7 is suddenly unstable and crashes many times in a day. Had been very stable until 2 days ago no new apps added. Problem is worse on iPad 3 than on iPad 2. Anyone else having this problem? Possible answers or solutions?

Two days ago my iPad 3 and IPad 2 started to crash very unexpectedly. Both iPads have wifi and cellular and both are running iOS 7.0.2. I will be working and suddenly the screen just wipes to black and then the big white Apple appears as if I have done a hard reset. The iPads always come back, but the crashes and unexpected app closures are happening with greater frequency. It happens more with the iPad 3 than with the iPad 2. Until two day ago both iPads had been very stable. I don't keep a lot of apps open and I have plenty of GB of free space. I do hard resets after each event, doesn't help the situation. Did Apple do some kind of update to the OS in the last few days? I was just getting used to the new OS and this is very frustrating. Anyone else having this problem, have a possible answer or solution? Thanks for your help.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

You can't merge accounts or copy content to a different account, so anything that you bought or downloaded via the old account is tied to that account - so any updates that those apps get you will only be able to download via that account. You can change which account is logged in on the iPad via Settings > Store

I had to restrore my IPad 1 after loading 5.0.1 as it crashed whilst trying to re-sync. Now I have re-synced 4 times. ITunes just creates a new backup version each time but won't move on. It keeps prompting me to restore from backup

This is the problem I have and what it looks like. Everytime I hit continue I restore from a back up, create a new back up (as time stamped) and then end up back at the same starting point

Having tried various things (backing up to a different Mac, restoring the iPad to its original settings - thus wiping all content from the iPad-, trying to restore from an older backup predating the problem etc), all to no avail, I took the plunge and chose "Set Up as a new iPad".
This seems to have fixed the problem and turned out to be a fairly minor pain:
all GoodReader documents, recent photos/videos taken with the iPad and app groups were reinstated following a USB-cable sync with my main Mac.
but I had to re-select which music, photos, podcasts.
Now everything seems to be back to normal.

i have got a iphone and have now just brought a ipad but can i share the apps like farm story and city story or do i have to start from strach with new farms and city, as some times i will be using the phone or i could b using the ipad, can any one shed any light on this pls.

I don't know if you have already set up your ipad but you could try this. Backup your iphone then do a restore to your ipad. I think all the data will transfer over. I am not a game type person so I do not know if this will work with games but it did transfer all my datas from other apps. It might transfer the data from your games too. But if you already set up your ipad and loaded some apps on it, you will have to re-download everything again and you will lose any data on your ipad if you do a restore from your iphone.

Game settings are part of the backup. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPad to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPad for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPad for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

When I downloaded OS 5 on my iphone 4 and ipad 2 I never got the New PC Free and notifications app.

Neither of these features are instigated as apps. There is a change to the way notifications are displayed, i.e. as a scrollable list with items you dismiss when you want to rather than coming at you one at a time, and one read only. With regard to being PC free, the aim is to allow backup and future updates to possible without connecting to a computer. As far as I know that is good to go now, though I've not signed up for iCloud or tested it yet so I can't say for certain.

IPad 1 crash heady apps/games every time!

I have an iPad 1 64GB 3G, and I'm really frustrated.
The iPad works fine when formatted or when haves just a few applications, but it does not happens when u get too much apps.
I have more than 300 apps here, 6GB free, and lot of games ans apps dust does not work here. Forget about Infinity Blade, it does not run. Daily news apps? Maybe, usually it crashes when u try to open a daily issue.
If I format it, everything works fine again, if I download more than 200 apps back (I already tried downloading 200 different apps), the problem comes back too.
I already tried to reset settings, recover system, redownload apps, close apps in bg, restart device... nothing works.
Why Apple insists to sell devices that stop working in some months? Haves any fix for that?

You've probably just got it too clogged. You can investigate how many of those 200 apps are running in the background, using ram and memory. Get too many of those running in the background, eating up tiny bits of ram each, all of a sudden you don't have enough left to get other things done. FOr example if many of them run location services in the background, or are constantly fetching or pushing data from the net.
I would investigate just how many of those apps you really need. Look into any controls and see what they are doing in the background. Crashing is usually caused by conflicts within apps (rare but happens) or just not enough memory.
Perhaps reformat it then put on a few at a time, obviously the ones you really need and use, and see how its peformance goes in incremental bits.

IPad 2 (Wifi Only) - Apps Disappeared

I was playing Sentinel 3 about 10 minutes ago, and decided that I had enough (working on getting all the Psycho levels done, which I'm hung up on on one of them). After I did that, I went to browse the web, when Safari crashed (it's crashed at least 6 times today...the most unstable experience I've had to date). As soon as that happened, all of my "App icons" disappeared; no longer do I have any folders, and when I try to sync the device via iTunes all of my apps are unchecked.
I find it very odd that iTunes has 10.8GB of "Other" space allocated (aka my APPS!).
I recently upgraded from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1. I bought this iPad 2 32GB about 3 weeks ago and have been fairly happy until today. Any ideas on how to restore the apps without "overwriting" data (meaning manually resyncing)?

Quit iTunes, and restart the iPad. Then try to sync again. That "bloated other" indicates a sync gone bad or a corrupt sync. Many times it can be eliminated with a restart or by syncing again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, try a reset.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
