Face Time Audio available? If so, how to activate it?

HI there. Anybody knows if FaceTimeAudio only is available? I can do only full Face Time with video.
My understanding was, that this feature will be available in iOS7 and when released, also in Maverics.
Am I missing something?

I agree, you can even find this info several places on the internet - that facetime audio should be supported on Mavericks as well.
I am in the same situation ... I can not see that it has been implemented in Mavericks yet ???

A new audio-only version of FaceTime, named FaceTime Audio, was announced during the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote speech on June 10, 2013, and released with iOS 7 on September 18, 2013, and OS X Mavericks in Fall (Northern Hemisphere)/Spring (Southern Hemisphere) 2013. As a new audio-only version of FaceTime, it effectively makes the protocol into a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), that competes with other mainstream providers in the field, including Skype (Microsoft), et al.
Based on the same AAC-ELD audio protocol, the service provides high quality audio. The iOS 7 betas limited FaceTime Audio to calls placed on a Wi-Fi network (the same original limitation of the video version of FaceTime), but the final release has removed that restriction to allow it to work over 3G and LTE data connections, as is the case with most carriers and plans with regard to FaceTime with video. Like the video version, FaceTime Audio is currently only available between Apple devices.

It cannot be deleted, but it may be lost in a folder, on another screen or it might be restricted.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If you are in the Middle East, then you are likely in a country where Face Time cannot be used, so it is restricted from your device.

facetime is made through a phone call on an iPhone4s, it is installed, check settings on your phone.
iPods have a separate FaceTime application because they do not use the phone application.
You can download FaceTime management programs for your phone for free through the App Store if youd like.
place a call to a contact with just an email address listed (they have to have a facetime capable device) and you both have to be on wifi connections
and as mentioned above, some places restrict certain services (like china)

I brought a new ipad2 from online app store in dubai. To my surprise facetime was missing. I searched the net and came to know facetime is blocked in uae. Good, i respect the laws. I brought this as a gift for my parents in india so taht they can use face time. Will face time show up if i take this to india.?

There is no FaceTime app on the phone.
It is built into iOS.
Go under contacts, pick one who has an iPhone 4-scroll down.
Do you see a button for facetime?

You can't. If you bought it int the UAE, you bought a device without FaceTime because it is restricted in the UAE. You can never download it or install it on the device either.

The built in Apps can not be deleted. Check other screens. Check existing folders. Check Settings - General - Restrictions.

FaceTime is not allowed by the UAE government so it is blocked by the serial number - and as it's blocked by the serial number there is no way to install it (including via iOS updates).

No, there is no work around. Facetime over cellular requires at a minimum an iPhone 4s, and that your carrier support the feature. Sorry, but the requirements are what they are.
