Face time doesn't work on iPhone. Did work but now not. Any ideas how to fix?

My phone is working fine.  My wife's did last week but not now.  I've turned phone off and rebooted.  Also, when I try to "sign in using apple id " it tells me it could not sign in. Check network connection and try again.  However the phone is connecting to my wifi network.  Suggestions?

    Hello matteo.coletti,
It sounds like you are having some trouble signing into FaceTime on your Mac. I would try the troubleshooting steps in this article named:
    FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4185
    Activating FaceTime for Mac
Use your Apple ID to register and use FaceTime. FaceTime registration validates your Apple ID and email address for use with FaceTime.
If you are unable to activate FaceTime, try the following:
Sign in to FaceTime for Mac using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with FaceTime, other FaceTime users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.
Check that your email address is verified in FaceTime > Preferences. If FaceTime > Preferences shows your email status as "verifying," follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
Toggle FaceTime off and on in FaceTime > Preferences.
If still unable to Sign In follow the instructions in FaceTime, Game Center, Messages on OS X: Troubleshooting Sign in
    Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac
You can make FaceTime calls using the FaceTime app. You can call FaceTime users whose contact information is in Contacts. You can add contacts and edit contact information in either FaceTime or Contacts. To place a video call, you may use a phone number or email address.
If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:
Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences. If the issue persists, or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on.
Verify that the Date, Time, and Time Zone are set correctly:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
    Enable "Set Automatically".
Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
Verify that both parties are connected to an active broadband Internet connection.
See Mac OS X: Troubleshooting a cable modem, DSL, or LAN Internet connection.
Consult Using FaceTime behind a firewall for necessary ports to open in firewalls, security software and routers.
If you encounter issues using a Wi-Fi network, use standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting to resolve interference and other issues.
Verify the phone number or email address being used is the correct one activated for FaceTime. You can verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.
Otherwise, could you elaborate a bit on any error messages or prompts you are getting?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Sterling

  • Face time doesn't work

Face time doesn't work with my MacBook Pro, my Iphone 5s ans my Ipad 3.... What happen ?

There have been numerous reports of FaceTime problems for the last few days. It is unclear exactly what the cause is. Following is one of many other discussions of the issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6096640?tstart=120

  • HT4245 face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out

face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out

It finally seems to work (2nd day now and counting)...
I tried the following with no luck:
    upgrading to iOS 5
adding an associated e-mail and calling that associated e-mail
do a full-scale registration of the e-mail (and making a free purchase via itunes) instead of a 'facetime only' registration
this combo however seems to have done the trick:
    keeping the ipad2 plugged in
changing the dns on the ipad to "8.8.4.4,8.8.8.8"
If it continues to work for a few more days, then i think i can say the the problem is finally resolved.

  • HT204380 I am using iPad 2. How do I use face time using 3G connectivity?

I understand after iOS 6 Face time is possible with 3G cellular network. I tried but msg comes to connect to wifi to use face time.

On an iPad 2 you can only use it over wifi, it's currently only possible over 3G on an iPad 3 (and iPhone 4S or 5)

  • I am unable to connect to Face Time with WiFi connection?

I am unable to connect to friends with Face Time.  There business premises has WiFi they connected to each other to show how it worked.  When I tried to connect
One after the other neither would connect to my iPhone 4.  I tried again from my home with my WiFi connected but still no connection possible.  Spoke to my network operator they explained it is nothing to do with network contact Apple.

This problem is getting me down - Blue Jay headphones work perfectly with every other device and computer we own but cannot be found by our MB Pro (late 2011).  This same MB is very difficult to pair with 2 other Bluetooth devices - taking several attempts each time and providing poor sound quality.

  • Face Time MacBook wont connect

    Hi
I have the facetime app installed on my macbook pro 13". If I try and call my wifes ipod it rings, she presses accept and it just seems to stick on connecting.
I have an Iphone 4 that is on the same network as my Macbook and that connects with her no problmes. I am using a different account on my macbook and on my iphone.
I can call my Iphone and I get the same error it just seems to stick on connecting. I have checked the firewall on the macbook and added face time to the list of allowed programs.
Anyone have any ideas for me?
If it cant be fixed is there a way to get a refund for an app?
    TIA

Make sure both parties are running IOS 7.1.1

  • I have a Apple iphone5 is face Time free when connecting internationally?

I have an Apple iphone5. Can i use Face Time free internationally?

Facetime only "costs" the internet it is using.  This means if you're connected via an internet you're already paying for (i.e. your home wifi, or wifi in a hotel room you've paid for) then it wont cost anything more. If you're facetime over cellular it'll use data on the cellular plan.  If you have a data plan for the locality you're in it'll use data as anything else does (like email or surfing the web).  If you're usuing cellular data out of coverage of your home network it'll use roaming data and that can add up.
    However, Facetime itself is free.
