Face Time keeps failing after connecting

Face Time was working fine but now failing after connecting.
Calling IPad 2 with mac Book Pro and I Phone 4s.

The description of your problem indicates that your Lan/wi fi network MAY be the culprit because a video chat system requires lots of bandwidth, since large amounts of data need to be transfered back and forth on your system.  You may be suffering from wifi interference from neighboring networks, in which case you need to change your wifi channel to another clear channel.  Also, your network may have slowed down for a number of other reasons.  To operate Facetime effectively using Wifi, you need a recent generation of wireless router for best results, such as an 802.11n capable unit.

  • Face time on/off after 8.2 update fixes messaging

    ? In settings: face time on/off after 8.2 update may fix messaging & phone calls.

    Thank you for your  suggestion but I think all of us has tried this . I'm not having as diffult issues as others , mine was updated on my private VPN using 100 mb Internet ssevice, fastest in the market, This mainly applies to the phone carrier settings and that is something we will have to wait on Apple to update. I talked to Apple tech and they said they were working on a fix for some carrier settings, mostly people using off the wall cell phone carriers are affected the most. It's a lack of communication between iPhone and iTunes to the network carrier, that's all they had to say for now... Thanks again

  • Rc-local.service keeps failing after one time success

    Actually it's quite weird, every time rc-local.service was enable successfully with boot but then it keeps failing. However, once I modify /etc/systemd /system/rc-local.service( even something that really doesn't matter ), it will be enabled successfully again. but only ONCE each time.
    [Unit]
    Description=/etc/rc.local compatibility
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/etc/rc.local
    TimeoutSec=0
    RemainAfterExit=yes
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target

    All of those things can be done with udev rules.  I had a Momentus XT, which I now no longer have in my system, but my old rule is still there.  It is as follows:
    ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTRS{model}=="ST95005620AS", RUN+="/sbin/hdparm -B 247 /dev/$kernel"
    You could also do something like this to apply it to all rotational disks
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="0", RUN+="/sbin/hdparm -B 254 /dev/$kernel"
    As far as the stuff in /sys, use udevadm to get stuff to put in your rule to identify it.  So something like
    $ udevadm info -a -p /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswiteroo
    I have also used a rule for my backlight setting on boot.  To find stuff, once again use the udevadm
    $ udevadm info -a -p /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0
    My resulting backlight rule is:
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="acpi_video0", SUBSYSTEM=="backlight", SUBSYSTEMS=="pci", DRIVERS=="i915", ATTR{brightness}="2"
    For more info on writing udev rules see http://www.reactivated.net/writing_udev_rules.html but when you get to the part about the udev commands, those no longer apply, as they have now been replaced by the udevadm commands listed above.  The commands are mostly correct, just instead of udevinfo, it is udevadm.
    I hope this helps!

  • Face Time sometimes doesn't connect

    I am trying to perform a test connect to facetime using my iphone 4 and ipad 2. The two devices would not connect, however, when I tried to place a face time call simultaneously on both devices calling each other at the same time, it will successfully connect.
    To check if FT will work again, I will hang up and try to connect after 1 minute by calling the other device and vise versa... and the test turns out ok.
    However, after 10 mins, when i try to call using either of the device, it will not connect. To have it working again, I will repeat the process I explained
    earlier by placing a call to both device (calling each other simultaneously) in order to connect.
    My ipad is running under the latest firmware (4.3.2) while my iphone 4 is running firmware (4.1).   I hope somebody can held me resolve the issue.

    Unable to make or receive FaceTime calls after April 16, 2014

  • Satellite Pro C850 - WLAN keeps failing after Win 7 installation

    Hi,
    I own a C850-1GR (PSCBXE), which comes with Win8.
    I've bought Win 7 32-bit Home Premium and reinstalled it from scratch.
    Afterwards I've installed the drivers from toshiba support page in the following order:
    Intel Chipset SW Installation Utility
    Intel Management Engine Interface
    Display Driver
    Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
    Realtek Audio Driver
    ATI HDMI Audio Driver
    SRS Premium Sound HD
    Synaptics Touch Pad Driver
    Realtek LAN Driver
    Realtek Wireless LAN Driver
    Intel Wireless Display
    Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver Package
    Bluetooth Monitor
    Intel USB3.0 Driver
    Realtek Card Reader
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package
    TOSHIBA Sleep Utility
    TOSHIBA Resolution+ Plug-in for Windows Media Player
    TOSHIBA Media Controller
    TOSHIBA Media Controller Plug-in
    TOSHIBA Network Device ID Registry Setting Tool
    TOSHIBA Web Camera Application
    PatchFiles PCIIDEREG-1.2
    PatchFiles
    When the installation is done, WLAN fails after reboot, alternately.
    This means:
    *First boot: WLAN OK*
    *Second boot: WLAN fails*
    *Third boot ( = first boot): WLAN OK*
    *Fourth boot ( = second boot): WLAN Fails*
    *and so on.*
    Failing means, the WLAN symbol is displayed for a few seconds, then the "no network" icon is displayed.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    >(Why on earth should a device report an error every second system boot?)
    Yes, indeed this is very confusing and strange.
    Just one notice regarding:
    >Please note, that the intel driver is for "wireless display".
    Intel wireless display works only in connection with Intel WLan card. If your notebook does not contain Wlan card from Intel manufacturers, the wireless display does not work
    >Furthermore, all these drivers are listed on the C850 driver page for Win7-32.
    Yes, this is true but all these drivers appear because of different C850 with different hardware configuration.

  • Time machine fails after three successful attempts consistently.

    I am using time machine but it fails after three successful attempts consistently.
    I am using a brand new 4TB G-drive. I have tested with Apple support and they are sure the problem is not with the disk.
    The error message is "Unable to complete back-up folder". System log states:
    Starting standard backup
    Backing up to: /Volumes/Time Machine/Backups.backupdb
    Error: (22) setxattr for key:com.apple.backupd.ModelID path:/Volumes/Time Machine/Backups.backupdb/Mac Pro Desktop Computer size:9
    Error: (-50) Creating directory 2013-01-25-015650.inProgress
    Failed to make snapshot container.
    Error: (22) setxattr for key:com.apple.backupd.ModelID path:/Volumes/Time Machine/Backups.backupdb/Mac Pro Desktop Computer size:9
    Backup failed with error: 2
    I have trawled Google and Apple and seen that this problem has been experienced by many but I have yet to find a solution to resolve my problem.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Chris

    I have seen this precise problem on a client machine.  It would run one to three backups fine, then start giving this error.
    I tried every hint in the other discussions.  I repaired the backup volume.  I ERASED the backup folder and started over.  I erased and reformatted the drive.  Every time, it would get me one to three clean backups, then the same error all over again.  I tested the snot out of the drive and there was absoutely nothing wrong with it as a drive.
    In desperation, I upgraded the client to Mountain Lion.  Mountain Lion took the "bad" backup set just as Snow Leopard had left it, and backed up to it with NO COMPLAINT.  It's still backing up fine several days later.
    I guess the upshot is that Time Machine in Snow Leopard has problems that Time Machine in Mountain Lion has outgrown.

  • Since installing mavericks my imac keeps failing to connect to the internet

    what is wrong with my mac i have just installed mavericks and my internet connection keeps failing any ideas

    Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them; in that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
    Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. Any change?
    If possible, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
    Are any other devices on the network, and if so, are they the same?
    If you can connect to more than one network, are they all the same?
    Are all network applications affected, or only some? If only some, which ones?
    Is networking always the same, or is the problem intermittent?
    Disconnect all other devices from the network. Any change?
    Start up in safe mode and test. Any difference?
    Start up in Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. Any difference?
    If possible, turn off Bluetooth and disconnect any USB 3 devices. Any difference?

  • Face time calls Fail from IPhone to IMac

    I am new to face time and not sure what I am doing wrong.  I can make a face time call from my IMac to my IPhone.  When I try facetime from my IPhone to IMac the IMac face time app rings, but when you try to answer the call always fails.  On the IPhone it says that I am busy.  What am I doing wrong?

    You're welcome, I'm glad that I could help!
    On a side note, if anybody is redirected here from a search engine or elsewhere; the "is busy" message in FaceTime when you clearly are not is almost entirely based on the shared Email (associated with your Apple ID) problem. For example:
    Say you have an iPad 2, a iPhone and FaceTime on your MacBook and your iMac in your household, the iPad i.e. is used by your daughter/son, the iPhone and the iMac is used by you and the MacBook is used by your husband/wife. But all of the devices use the same Apple ID (yours).
    It helps to associate different Email addresses with each device but not with any other of the devices so any device can be called from another one. As soon as you understood the concept of the solution from the original problem it should be easy to set it up perfectly.
    Let's say you have entered the Email addresses on FaceTime in the following manner:
    iPhone & iMac: [email protected]
    MacBook: husband/[email protected]
    iPad 2: daughter/[email protected]
    When the iPad 2 calls [email protected] the iPhone and the iMac will ring but you can only pick up on one of the devices. The iPad can also call the MacBook via husband/[email protected] The MacBook can call the iPad via daughter/[email protected] and both the iMac and the iPhone via [email protected] The iPhone can call the MacBook, the iPad but not the iMac (the message "user is busy at the moment" will be displayed). The iMac can call either the MacBook or the iPad but not the iPhone.
    As said before: All you need to understand here is the concept, the rest comes naturally.
    If there is a related problem please don't hesitate to ask!
