Face Time on 2 devices

How do I set up Face Time on my iMac and iPad so that one can call the other?

On iMac, add new contact in the address book (your fake name and new email address). The email address needs to be different than the one on iPad. Open the facetime on iMac, go to prefences and under "you can be reached for video calls at" enter the new email address. The address book should also have name and email address that you assign to the iPad. The main point is to establish 2 different names and email addresses - one for each device.

why I don't have face time in my device?

As suggested by KiltedTim, your phone can never have FaceTime feature. You can further see the details here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
Use 3rd party applications like skype or viber. If FaceTime is really important for you, then your only option is to sell your current iPhone and buy another one factory unlocked which is not of the country where FaceTime feature is removed from the device by law (avoid all iPhones from middle eastern countries to be on the safe side)

  • Can't use Face Time between my devices

I have an iPad 2, an iPhone 4S, & a 4th gen iPod.  Until recently I was able to Face Time between them all.  Now when I try to make a call it says that I'm unavailable.  I have read the generic troubleshooting article & tried all those things.  None of them have worked.  Does anyone have a suggestion for possible solution?

    Can you FT other devices?

Are you calling an email/phone number not also used for FT on the calling device?

  • HT204380 can you face time between 2 devices which are registered to the same email address

can i use face time between my iphone 4s and my sons ipod touch 4th gen eventhough they are both registered to the same apple account and same email address?

Yes you can. You just need a unique e-mail address on the iPod to call. I can FaceTime from my phone to my iPad since we have my wife's e-mail as the FaceTime contact.

  • Is face time between Apple devices free if one person is in France and the other person is in the U.S.?

IS face time free between two persons if one person is in France and the other person is in the U.S.?  One is on an iPad Mimi and the other an apple laptop or iPad.

It uses the internet. If either person has wi-fi it can be done on that, otherwise it will use cellular data count against one or both persons cellular data plan.

  • HT204380 There is no face time in my device's settings and i live in sultanate of oman. Why?

Please help me to operate face time on my device

iPhones bought from the middle-east do not have FaceTime. It's banned by their respective government and there's no way FaceTime can be installed even when your're out of the country.

  • Face time across multiple devices x 1 apple id

I currently have the following devices: imac, ipad 3 and airbook all using the same apple id, and have set up seperate emails for each device, i.e. [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] I have also set up a contact on each of the devices and within each facetime setting associated the relevant email address.
However when i try to call from one device to the other some work and some don't, for example the imac to ipad does, but the ipad to imac doesn't, and the airmac to any doesn't work at all.
The ipad is running IOS 6, has anybody else experienced this problem ? And any ideas how to fix this?

    You're welcome.
The answer is no per my previous post.
She can access her own iCloud account and Apple ID on her devices without accessing your iCloud account and Apple ID on her devices which will resolve iMessages being sycned with her devices and your devices, but in order to install an app update for apps that were downloaded with the shared Apple ID will require entering the password for the Apple ID.
iTunes accounts cannot be merged/combined, and DRM protection tied to one iTunes account cannot be transferred to another iTunes account.

  • Face Time won't verify on either iPhone 4S or iPad 2

Face time on either device will not verify my email address, which is the same MobileMe account I use for iTunes, email etc. I have see other people have problems with face time but none of the solutions have worked so far. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have gone here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3510 but none of that applies - I only have one apple ID. I have tried to set up a new apple email address, and have tried to use my work email (non-apple).
I have just discovered I can receive a Face Time call on my iPhone but not on iPad, and can dial out on facetime on iphone, but it still won't accept my email address. On my iPhone contacts I have the option to call using face time but not on iPad.

  • I have one apple id, but the family all have ipods, imac and mac book connected to this account. how do i face time them?

    Hello chlanli
You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

  • Face-Time over 3G using iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4, and I am on iOS 7, can I Face-Time another iOS device over 3G

According to Apple, the iPhone 4 can not do FaceTime using 3G.
"*FaceTime video calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient and a Wi-Fi connection. FaceTime over a cellular network requires iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, or iPad (3rd generation) with cellular data capability. Availability over a cellular network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply.
Some features may not be available for all countries or all areas."

has that to do that the ipad has no tel number of course?? Should I leave my id number on her iPad ??
That isn't due to not having a phone number on her iPad.  You can use FaceTime with any iPad using an email address as the "phone number".  And if her iPad isn't a first generation iPad, if she uses the same Apple ID for FaceTime on both her iPhone and iPad, her iPhone number can be used as well (see iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage).
If her iPad is not verifying her Apple ID for FaceTime it's probably because the Apple servers are busy.  Keep trying and it should verify.  If you continue to have problems with this, look through the troubleshooting steps here: iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation.

  • HT5538 How do you separate multiple iOS devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

How do you separate multiiple ios devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

The only way I have seen is to have each device use a if fervent email account, if they all are on the same email the FaceTime connection is either to a phone number or to an email address.  If they ar all on the same email, it is up to the user to decide which to use.

  • If i used the same apple id and email to set up both my ipad and ipod what can i do to be able to use face time to call from one device to the other

if i used the same apple id and email to set up both my ipad and ipod what can i do to be able to use face time to call from one device to the other

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime.  Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.

  • Can I have a Face Time conversation between two Apple devices using the same Apple ID?

Can I have a Face Time conversation between two Apple devices using the same Apple ID?

Yes, you can, but the two devices can't have the same e mail address associated with both.  Each, device needs its own unique e mail ADR.  In your case, the iPod can call your iPhone if you use the phone number, but the iPhone can not call your iPod because it must use the e mail address, and if the email address is the same on both, the iPhone will think it's calling itself, so the call will not go through.

  • HT204380 i have a mac book pro and a i-pad 2. both of the devices have the same apple id and same mailing adress. if i want to make a face-time call from my mac book to i-pad 2. how can i do that?

i have a mac book pro and a i-pad 2. both of the devices have the same apple id and same mailing adress. if i want to make a face-time call from my mac book to i-pad 2. how can i do that?

You have to add another email address on one of the two devices that you can use as the "You can be reached for FaceTime at" contact address and then remove/uncheck the Apple ID email address as the contact address on that device. The way you are currently setup is like to trying to call yourself on your on phone - from your own phone.
Using the iPad as the example go to Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for FaceTime at>Add another email address. Then add a working email address in the next window. Apple will verify the email. Go to the inbox of that email account, read and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Go back to Settings>FaceTime>Uncheck the Apple ID email address and make sure that the new email address is checked/selected (you will see it being verified again) and that new email address will be your contact address for the iPad.
