Face Time on iMac

Face Time on iMac seems to work really well for a "beta". Does anyone know why it can recieve a call to it's email address but wants to dial out to a phone number? I guess I will have to play with it some more? This is a fantastic addition to the Face Time family of products Apple supports.

My computer auto logs into F/Time when I open the App.. The Page is 50% image (left side) & 50% a list of all your contacts..L

Using Face Time on iMac

I am a new iMac user - set it up this morning - and can't seem to get into Face Time. When I enter my Apple ID and password it says "signing in..." for short while then a red messgae comes up which says "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." Other functions reliant on the Apple ID work fine (iTunes etc). Anyone have a clue why this would happen..?

Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Several ways to access System Preferences.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click System Prerferences.
Or, click the Sytem Preferences icon in your Dock
Or, launch System Preferences from your Applications folder.

Couldn't Activate Face Time on iMac

I have bought an iMac since August 10th, & want to activate Face Time with my Apple ID, but still can't until now. I have tried so many times, but still cannot. What should I do?? What's wrong ?? There is No Problem with my Internet Connection, because I still can use Internet for browsing on iMac. I Need Expert's Advice for this problem. Thanks.

I downloaded Face Time onto my mother's iMac. Since she couldn't remember her password, I used mine from my iPhone. It downloaded fine. However, it seems that her iMac Face Time seems to be the same as my iPhone. When I use it to call my iPhone, it doesn't ring. I get missed calls on my iPhone as well as making a call. How can I get hers to be seperate from my iPhone?

Unfortunately, you need os x 10.6.6 or better to utilize FaceTime.

Have trouble logging on using my apple ID and password. Once I long on using my apple ID and password it says it can't verify since this Apple ID is already used. Well duh!

You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

For the iPad, iMac you need to create verifyible e-mail addresses created with one of the providers such as Yahoo, Gmail,etc. For the iphone you should use it's phone number, but an e-mail could be used for it too. If you want to associate these e-mail addresses with a single ID, I'm including a link to give you info about how you can do that. Read it carefully, as it can be a bit confusing.

How do I can't get Face Time to work on my iMac.

I have OS X 10.9.4 on my iMac computer. Face Time quit working. Tried to buy the 99 cent app, but was told my computer has a newer version installed. Was told I would have to uninstall what I have and then download the 99 cent app, if I want to change. Looking for answers as to what to do.

When I try to use Face Time, I sign in and click next. I am told about choices to reach me by phone and e-mail. I chose phone and e-mail and click next. This takes me back to sign in. I try clicking on the number I want to call from my contact list and nothing happens. My favorites no longer appear on my screen. Do you have any suggestions? Yes. (The iPhone4 must be on wi-fi.)
All FaceTime contact on any device is made via the internet.
iOS devices like iPhone must connect via wi-fi because that is the only way they connect to the internet.
Macs can connect also to the internet via ethernet, so Macs can FaceTime either wired or wi-fi.

You need to have the facetime app installed on your iMac and you need to be using an iPad 2.

The first thing to do: Make a backup of your iPhoto Library. Don't update iPhoto without having a backup of your iPhoto library.
When I tried I received the following message This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
This error message means, that you did not yet associate your copy of iPhoto (preinstalled on your Mac) with your AppleID by clicking the "accept" button at AppStore "Purchased" page.
First try to "Accept" iPhoto on the Purchased tab and try, if you then can update iphoto from the Updates tab.
Now check the "Purchased" tab. Is iPhoto among your Purchases to "Accept" or "Install"? Then accept and/or install.
If it is not possible, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder .
(don't empty the Trash).
If it is not among your Purchases, open the AppStore main tab, search for iPhoto using the Search field, and buy it from the AppStore. If you already owned any version of iPhoto '11, this purchase should be free, from earlier versions it may be a paid upgrade.

I can delete the existing software and re-install but I don't want to lose all my photos.
Your photos are in your iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder and not in the iPhoto application. Just back up the iPhoto Library as a precaution, but reinstalling iPhoto will not delete your iPhoto Library.
