Face time rings once then fails.

Face Time gives a ten second ring then a failure message on outgoing calls.
Incoming calls get the message that "facetime failed    Duncan Stewart is not available for Facetime"

You must have a separate, individual e-mail address assigned to each device. if you use the same e-mail address, they will not be able to communicate with each other.  It's like picking up your telephone and dialing your own number, you'd get a busy signal.

  • Landline rings once then stops

    Hi  - Had this problem for some time but whereas it was intermitent, it has now become almost permanent.
    As the title states, the phone rings once then cuts out. If i answer before it cuts out then i can speak to the caller.
    No problems dialling out.
    I also notice that when someone calls, the broadband light goes off for about 30 seconnds.
    Also sometimes it does not ring at all and an "error in connection" message will be displayed on the callers handset.
    If i don't answer in time then phone connects to caller after about one ring.
    I have done some tests-unplugged everything and plugged phones directly into master socket (behind cover plate)
    Phone works ok when i do this.
    Any help appreciated.

    Yes, quite possibly the cause of the disconnection when an incoming call arrives.
    Only connection numbers 2 and 5 are needed, as 3 and 4 are no longer needed, and can upset your broadband.

  • Phone rings once then stops.

    Greetings everyone.
    There seems to be a strange old problem with the phone. Whenever someone tries to call, it rings once then goes quiet. I did a test from my mobile and it seems that somehow the phone gets 'picked up' by magic for a few seconds, cos my mobile got charged for it!!
    Before you ask, I tried to old test socket and same result.
    Tried the 2 phones we have independently and the same result.
    Disconnected the home hub and the same result.
    Regarding dialling out, it seems 100% fine, so this problem is a strange old one!
    I called the BT fault line and the person said it MIGHT be related to my equipment and I'll get charged if I call the engineer. Hopefully, that won't be the case cos I booked the engineer already!
    It would be much apperciated if anyone can help me regarding the fault, or whether I will be charged or not for the engineer appointment.

    I do not have the type of socket that allows the test you describe. I have explained this to BT India numerous times but always get asked to  carry out the test. I had two ring trips this morning and so again rang BT and this time asked to speak to customer services. After some haggling they put me through. However, BT customer services refuse to become involved in line faults and I was transferred back to India, where I was once again asked to carry out the same ritual tests. The end result was that they would 'monitor' the line over the weekend (whatever that means). In the meantime, I received a ring trip call at 17.15 which rendered the line unusable for the next two hours. We checked the line every hour and it was working again two hours later. What I can't understand is that we had an engineer visit about two weeks ago, he said he detected a fault at the exchange but he did not replace the socket we have with a modern one. Who is responsible for this?

    Face time ring volume is too quiet. conversation is a little better. Can I set volume higher?

    I have been trying to increase the volume for facetime too on my mac book pro, but no luck at all.
    You cannot change the ringtone either.
    Any updates on that friendly users? I know that Skype has all those features, will apple make some changes too?
    I keep missing facetime calls from my family, because the ringer is not loud enough.

  • RFC to XI -- works ONCE then  FAILS. SM58 on R3 shows errors. ???

    Really stange scenario
    Sending a Simple record with about 3 fields in it to XI from R3 via RFC method.
    First time Message arrives correctly in XI and ouput file is generated. Payload OK., File name generated OK so no duplicate file names etc etc.
    Execute the same program  (on R3) with the same data again then nothing appears on the XI side.
    SM58 on the R3 side shows error Commit Fault com.sap.aii.rfc.afcommunication.RfcChannelMismatchExcept.
    Now sometimes from SM58 I can go to Edit ==> execute LUW and the message gets transferred to XI.
    Other times (more ususally)  SM58 returns Function Module does not exist or exception raised.
    On the XI side there isn't anything in the channel logs showing an error.
    If I create a new channel in the IR then it works again ONCE  then same problems as before,
    Any ideas on how to fix -- I certainly can't uunderstand why the SAME PROGRAM AND DATA works  sometimes and other times not.

    Hi,
    Please check your channel under Business System you are using in your configuration. Is there any other RFC Adpater which uses the same Program ID or any other active rfc channel pointing to the same system? If yes please deactivate/delete the other channel. Your problem will be resolved.

  • My iPhone 3GS has stopped Ringing and only now Vibrates. Any ideas please to what the fault maybe or how I can get the ringing back. I've checked settings and all ok. The other day it did ring once then went to vibrate

    Recently my iPhone 3GS has stopped ringing all of a sudden. I've checked the settings and nothing has been changed. I've also made sure the switch on the side is not on silent/vibrate too.

    One is the Settings > Sounds

    FT rings but the other end does not answer and tells me they don't even receive an attempted contact message.  Had a similar problem a week ago, per one suggestion changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and that solved the problem at that time.  Any ideas?

    You are using only half the solution. You should enter this in the DNS field;
    8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (that is a coma after the 4th 8)

    This started yesterday.  Incoming calls ring once then go to voicemail.  Any ideas?

    Next step would be resetting.
    Start by holding the home and sleep button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing a reset this way, but it can cure some glitches.
    If this does not help, resetting the network settings would be the next step. Go to Settings/General/Reset/Network settings to do that.

    Hi I am trying to face time with my iPad 2 from my iPhone 4 they are both on the same wifi network and are in both contacts list FaceTime s turned on, on both devices .
    All it says on my iPhone screen is that +.....+ Is busy at this time. Yet my ipad rings once then goes off.

    Ok.  You are right.  I can call the phone from the pad fine. But calling the pad from the phone results in the busy situation.  The problem is both devices are associated with the e mail address. 
    So here is the solution.
    Use an alternate email address on the pad.  If you have one, you are all set.  If you do not, then goto google mail and set up a gmail account.  It is free, and it never hurts to have ana alternate email address laying around.  Once you have an alternate address
    1.  On the pad.  Setting, face time, click on add e mail .   Enter the new address.  To get it to stick, you need to click add email again.
    2. You will se the label 'email' changes to 'verifying'.  Go to you new gmail, and respond to the verififcation e email that apple has just sent you.  (They sent me the email within 1 minute)
    Once you do this , the pad will answer face time calls to eith the original or the new e mail address.
    3.  On the phone.   Go into contacts and find your own contact entry.  Add the new email address.
    4.  Do not add the new email address on the face time 'receive' setting on the phone.  If you do, you will end up back where you started.
    So.  When you call you phone from the pad, use the phone number.  When you want to call the pad from the phone, use the alternate e mail address.  When others call, ifmthey use the phone number, the phone will ring.  If they use your email address, both the pad and the phone will ring.  Ifnthey use the new e mail address, only the pad will ring.
    Ok?

    Some folks have discovered thatchanging their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues. The idealway is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but oftensettings in System Settings/Wi-Fi on your iPad will override the routersettings.
