Face Time Start Up

Trying to use Face Time on Macbook Pro for first time, I sign in and get verified and this message appears: "The server encountered an error processing registration.  Please try again later."  This error message has come up every time I have tried to log onto Face Time...I have tried over the past few months to log into this receiving this same message each time.

Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

You will need to activate FaceTime under Settings > FaceTime.
Once activated, you will be able to use either native FaceTime app or call your FaceTime contacts within Phone app.

  • Face time wouldn't start

Face Time wouldn't start. I get a message "Error Occurred. Please try again".

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection.  Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
    (1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
    (2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
    (3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help.  Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on".  Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service.  Contact your ISP for help.
    (4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

  • HT1349 Whe using face time the person on the other line is saying that our picture will get fuzzy if you start to move it

when using face time when we start to move slightly the other people say that the picture goes fuzzy.

See if any of theses ideas reduce the severity of your problem:
    (1) Add as much light as possible for best possible camera picture.  The camera slows down in dim light.
    (2) Check connection speed at both ends using http://speedtest.net/ (iOS app available)
Broadband speed is a must.  384kBps or more at both ends for better pictures.
    (3) Shut down everything and restart in order: modem, router, iOS device.
Let each device self-test complete before starting the next.
    (4) Restart or reset your iPad http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

  • Imposible to start Face Time

Since some time ago I've tried to contact my relatives through Face Time and has been impossible   Always asked for my Apple ID but after tapped in answer is always the same: check your connection and try later. Don't know what else to do.. Any help??
    Thanks,
    Sergio

Is both your and your relative's iPad up to date? As of April 16 any device that uses facetime must be updated to a certain level for it to work.

  • Face Time won't start

Trying to set up Face Time and cant sign in because my Face Time Prefs are always greyed out.

As I understand your response, FaceTime seems to be the only trouble you are having.
The next things to try (in this order) are:
    (1) Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then reinstall your FaceTime app.
    • Repair permissions again immediately following the reinstall.  Then test FT function.
    • If the FT problem continues, try (2) as follows.
    (2) Try relevant Apple troubleshooting:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
    •  Be sure to test more than one Apple app in more than one user account.
    •  If those suggestions do not help you, (the "reset" suggested there
often restores normal function,) continue with the following.
    • Restart Mac and then use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Now download and apply the latest Combo Update for your Mac OS 10.6:
         http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
    • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
       that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes cure software problems.

  • New iPhone 5s, cannot text or Face Time with my husband

My husband and I finally got iPhones (now that T-Mobile began offering them – we were able to hold out that long, unbelievable). Needless to say, this is a life changing acquisition.
The problem we just discovered with our days-old phones is that while I am able to text and receive messages from other people, and able to text my husband, he cannot text me – whether as a response to my text, or by starting a new conversation on his end. Sending a text to my phone (and yes, the number is correct) generates a "Delivery failed" alert. Even Siri coudn't pull it off.
Neither of us can Face Time the other, though we can make voice calls to one another. Selecting "Face Time" from my husband's contact page will generate a "Victoria is not available for Face Time," and vice versa.
Face Time, not a huge deal, though it ought to be available. Texting? That is important. And heck, these are brand new and everything should work!
I see from poking into various forums elsewhere that this is not totally uncommon. Does anyone in our community have an idea (other than marriage counseling)?
    Thank you!

First, iMessage and Facetime need to be activated in Settings. Check this support document regarding troubleshooting the activation process http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
It also sounds as if you are both sharing the same Apple ID. If that is the case, that can cause a problem as well. These additional support documents might help.

  • Low volume on Face Time

There seems to be a change in the volume during a Face Time call. The person I call says that they can barely heare my voice. This started happening after having had a few calls that had good volume.
I have even tried the "Voice Memo" feature -- VU meter does not move. Can barely hear myself.
    Thoughts -- suggestions.
BTW - I have sent the device back to Apple and they suggest that it is "Within Specs."  Really???

You need to delete the firmware first to remove the (e).
Guess it must be a bit of flash somewhere that is set by (e) variant firmware, but is not cleared by non-(e) firmware.
See the 'Recovery Mode' sticky above for how to delete the firmware.
