Face Time uses wrong phone number

I have two iphone 5Ss on a single apple id account. my wife's iphone/face time uses her phone number and our primary email address, while my iphone uses a secondary email. the problem is, my face time settings has a check mark by our secondary email, but no check marks by my wife's phone number and our primary email. even though my iphone settings for phone/my number is correct, i can't get face time to list my phone number as an option. Although my wife and i can facet time with each other, i'd very much like to associate the face time account on my iphone with my iphone's actual phone number. any ideas on fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Your post is unclear. What is showing your work number? Contacts?

There are no charges for FaceTime itself. All you would pay would be any data charges from your carrier that might apply. This of course assumes that the carrier supports using FaceTime over their service; not all do.

You're welcome.
If you cannot find a way to do what you are trying to do, perhaps you can use different email accounts for each different purposes you have.
I use one email address for my iPod's normal Mail communication.
I used a different one to activate this iPod's FaceTime.
I use one different from either of those for iTunes.
Pperhaps you are trying to do something I don't completely understand. For use in your iPod, I do not think there anything wrong with using one email account (address) activated with the FaceTime Apple iD while checking different email account(s) in Mail and having a unique account name associated with iTunes.
According to the info, in part, on page 168 of the iPod touch iOS4.1 guide, you choose your iTunes account in Settings > Store:
Use Store settings to change or create an Apple account. By default, the Apple account you’re signed in to when you sync iPod touch with your computer appears in Store settings. You can change accounts on iPod touch to purchase music or apps from another account...

For the iPad, iMac you need to create verifyible e-mail addresses created with one of the providers such as Yahoo, Gmail,etc. For the iphone you should use it's phone number, but an e-mail could be used for it too. If you want to associate these e-mail addresses with a single ID, I'm including a link to give you info about how you can do that. Read it carefully, as it can be a bit confusing.

How can I use Face Time with my phonr number?

I can´t use my phone number to be my recipiant to iMessage and Face Time, it just puts the label "Verifying" and my number. Does anybody knows if this is a carriers problem or an iPhone problem?

Since I updated to ios 6 I can't use my phone number to receive or make face time calls. I have also lost the use of my primary email address (as it is different to my apple I'd) on face time too, it says error already in use. Can anyone help????

iTech, First change your apple password, than go to 'setting' and than click on 'Facetime' and make sure your facetime email is right than retry. Also calling apple support can help you or the best way is to go down to the apple store for direct help. I really hope that what i have told you have helped and try to reset your iphone.

Can I use one phone number on two iphones with two apple ids?

My carrier allows multiple sim cards with the same phone number for usage on different devices. I would like to use a second sim card for my phone number on a second iphone, but with a different apple id.
Is it possible to use one phone number on two iphones with separate apple ids? How does this affect facetime/imessage?
I can only find answers to using the same apple id on multiple devices. This works fine, but is not what I want to do here.

Apple ID uses old phone number

Hey, I've been with apple for quite a while now, and I've never had iMessage or Facetime using my phone number because of this bug. A little while ago, I visited family in a different country, I had a temporary number there. That number somehow worked with iMessage even though my previous number didn't. I decided to switch to my old sim card to see if the iMessage problem was fixed, to my surprise, it was. I went back to my temporary number for the time being until I went back home. When I got home I put in my old sim card to use my phone again and saw that my temporary number was trying to be activated and used in iMessage and Facetime. I have tried multiple things to try and resolve this issue or even just try to see what could be causing it but I've had no success. I recently tried making a brand new apple ID and using it to see if the temporary number would still show up, oddly enough, it did. After that happened I've just blanked, I'm confused as to where the number is stored and how I could go about updating it.
I've always wanted to use iMessage and Facetime with my phone number so any help would be great.

TRy to check on your imessage setting on your iphone. It should be setting>messages> imessage. If you can see your phone number then your mac will be able to see your message. If not toggle the message on and off. Once activated your mac will ask you if you would like to use your number for imessage, click agree(0r yes) then you will also receive a message on your iphone that your mac started using your phone number for imessage

You need to change your Apple ID password. You could login to Find My iPhone and wipe that iPad if you felt the need to do so.

I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more. I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.
