Face time will ring when cover is closed

Face time will not ring on the iPad when the cover is closed. 
There is no notification of a missed call.
Face time works normally when the cover is open.

The reed switch is the likely culprit. It's in the right side of the display bezel, and is activated by a magnet in the right lower edge of the iBook. Unless you are rolling in dough, it's likely not to be worth the cost of repair. Probably money would be better spent toward a new MacBook if you can't tolerate the situation as it now exists.
Sometimes the reed switch sticks in the off position. At least, you can consider yourself lucky that the one in your iBook has stuck in the on position, so it's on all the time instead of off.
You can set the Energy Saver preferences to have it sleep quickly or simply remember to put it to sleep manually before closing the iBook if you decide to live with it, as-is.

    My daughter has an iphone, ipod and we have a family ipad. for some reason face time will not work. it rings in but the connection is never made. I even had her phone into verizon and they couldn't figure out why facetime wouldn't work. Anyone have any ideas on how we can correct this. It cannot be her phone because it's doing the same thing on her ipod, I cannot get facetime even to call out on our ipad. My oldest daughter has the iphone and a MAC in the same household and hers are working?

  • I have a IPhone 5 and Iphone 5s. Both are set up with the same account ID and running IOS 8.0.2. When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone.  Anyway to solve this problem?

When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone.  Hence you do not know exactly which line the caller called.  If you answered using the wrong phone, then anyone calling the other number will not get through.  Anyway to solve this problem?

    Thanks for the question. It sounds like your devices are set up to use continuity together. Specifically, it sounds like you are signed into the same Apple ID in FaceTime, and have iPhone Cellular Calls enabled. To resolve your issue, simply disable this setting:

    face time will not let me sign in with my new password?

    Same thing for me.  I'm getting an error message that states "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."  I've been trying for the last two hours, off and on, and keep getting the message.  I've re-started FaceTime as well as re-strated my MacBook.  This is just after changing my AppleID password - both iTunes and my Apple account are fine with signing in using the new password.

    No. FaceTime will not be available on devices bought in UAE. Moving to another location will not change this as the function is removed at the hardware level.

    If you've tried holding down both buttons together for 30-60 seconds and still nothing, you need to make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar to have it evaluated. They will give you your options at that time.

  • Why does face time hang up when i try to answer a call?

    When someone calls, It is my face on the screen. I hear the ring and I have a choice to either click the "decline" button or the "accept" button. I click accept. There is a two second pause, then three tones in a row (not the same tone as the phone ring tone) and the two buttons disappear. I never see the other person's face and it reverts to what the screen looked like before the call came in. I have previsouly had chats with this same person on face time so I can't figure out what is wrong. Thanks, David

  • TS4268 Face time will not verify my second email address.  It says it is already in use.  Can't I have more than one address?  How?

    I have two email accounts and would like to link face Time to both of them.. I tried to "add aanother email" but got an error message on verification saying the email is already in use.  It is.. by me!  Is there any way I can add the second email account for Face Time on all my devices ( Pro, mini and phone 5)?

  • Face time connection fails when I try to connect

    I have used face time to chat with my grandkids on several occasions through my iPhone 5C to their iPod touch devices, and it worked fine.  But lately when we tried to facetime is says  FAILED.    They are able to text me and send pictures and I can do that to them but the face time connection fails just as we try to answer the call.
    I've tried face timing others and it works.   But not to the grandkids.   Any thoughts?

    Is your iPhone on the latest version of iOS (7.1.1 right now)?
    If so, have your grandkids check their iPod touches - they need to be running the latest version of iOS that their devices can handle in order for FaceTime to work.

  • My ipad face time will not verify or sign in!

    I have reset my ipad 2 ,updated it, tried signing in with a different profile and everything possible! I try to sign in on face time but it wont do it! I put in my apple id and the password and the password is correct but when i click the sign in button it goes to the next pages then maxium of 3 seconds it jumps back to the sign in page. I can sit there and click the sign in thing all day but it just keeps doing the same thing. I even waited a couple of days before i tried it again but same thing. Someone please help!

  • Face Time automatically selected when adding phone favourites

    With some of my contacts, any attempt to add them to my favourites has them automatically selected for face time without giving me an option. I don't want to use face time and anyway most of these people don't have iPhones. If I switch off face time those contacts are suddenly reported to have no numbers, though with face time on they have several. Can somebody tell me what it is about those contact entries that makes this happen? When I was creating my address book face time didn't exist. What's going on?
