You were charged for downloading it (some apps allow you to make in-app purchases within them to unlock extra features) ?
If when downloading it then does a purchase price show on your purchase history : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases (the most recent purchase is above the list).
Of did you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account when downloading the app ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

I can only see the paid apps in each catagory on my iphone 4. Did this happen to anyone else?

I am using My Photo Stream on my iPhone and on my iPad. Much to my surprise, I noticed that many of my pictures on my iPad have disappeared ( iPhone shows 990 - iPad shows 90 only !!!! ) Has this happened to anyone else ????? What is the problem ???
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there (subject to a 1,000 photo limit) until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device. -
messages app continues to crash. All messaging stops working and all of my message threads disappear. the only thing that has seemed to work is restarting my phone. Happens at least once a day.

I'm sorry to hear you are having such extensive issues with Messages on your iPhone. If you continue having issues sending or receiving Messages, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

If you continue to have issues with Messages after that troubleshooting, especially if it is still having or crashing, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring your data. I am running iOS 4.3.5 and this has been going on for months now. I need to keep my task manager open to kill the task when I connect and disconnect my iphone or ipad. It hogs all of my cpu, sometimes opening 2 or 3 windows media players.

DDid you do a hard reset? Sleep button and home button together until rebot. Nothing erased.

You really have to contact the app developer for this.
There are more than 650,000 apps available, you don't expect Apple to support all that do you?
