Facebook App - Locations/Check Ins

I installed the Facebook app on my iPhone yesterday and through human error, when it loaded I said NOT to use the Check-In. Now I'm trying to use it and I'm getting an error that says "Location Services are disabled. You must enable Location Services to view nearby places and check-ins." How do I do this??
I went to Settings and scrolled down to Facebook - all of the settings are turned to On. I deleted the app and then re-downloaded it, but it still has the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried reloading yesterday to no avail. Not sure what triggered this as it used to work fine before.

When i update a status or checkin at a place using my facebook application on blackberry curve 9220 mobile , the blackberry logo/icon is not showing when i see it on facebook.

- The iPod uses the location of a nerby or connected router to determine it location based on a database of routers and their location. It appears that the routers near y are not in Appl'es database. As of yet, nobody here seems to know how to get routers added to the database.
- If you go to Strtbucks. McDonalds or another networks does the location show in the Maps app?

Facebook check-ins set to "Only Me"

Hey,
For some reason, my check-ins are set to "Only Me" (or "Myself & anyone tagged" if I tag people). My privacy setting for status updates works consistently with my normal privacy settings. I'm not sure why the check-ins are private
I've tried changing the privacy settings through my Blackberry and on my computer, but nothing I've done seems to work. Hope someone can help me!

I had the same problem.
Go to privacy settings on facebook
Click on edit settings on the Ads, Apps and Websites row
You will see the privacy settings for ''Old versions of Facebook for mobile'' set as ''Only me''. Change that to you preferable settings

Why isn't the Facebook app appearing in my Location Services

I am an iPhone 4 user with the most recent iOS update. I frequently use the Facebook application. As of recently I am unable to upload new photos. The status bar reads complete, however, nothing happens. I was told to check my Location Services to verify I had it turned on for the FB app, however, upon doing this I realized the application no longer even shows up as an option within the Location Services. I'm guessing this to be part of the issue, however, I have zero clue as to why it no longer shows up period vs just having it accidentally switched off. Anyone have knowledge on how to fix this by chance?

delete the facebook app,from your phone,and then re-install it from the app store,try that,might work.it did for me.

Yes tried resetting the wifi connection and problem still persist.
Here it is...to make it clear. Connected thru the same wifi at home...
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook WEBSITES are working fine and fast when using/accessing thru a browser (chrome/samsung browser) - no problem with this.
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook APP is soooooo sloooww (thru the App). Slow I mean comparing it to using their browser/websites... news feeds/emails refreshing so quickly but not when using the APP installed in Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Slow like - It will take around 5-10minutes just to get your emails and news feed refreshed.
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN CONNECTED THRU A WIFI which has a speed of 10-20mb. It is not happening when connected to the network data/plan.
My wife has the same Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (coming from different provider at&t) - same setup (emails, fb app), same wifi connection, but she's not experiencing anything like it.
Not sure why, I dont want to believe that while connected to a WIFI, Verizon is restricting anything and ******* me off to make me switch to my data plan connection everytime - which is Unfair!
Was there a known issue similar about this case?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

First, make sure all of your location settings are set correctly. If you are running the latest device software for your Blackberry Bold, go to Options>Device>Location Settings. Make sure you have GPS Data Source set to Device GPS, Location Services set to Location ON, under Location Data, Setting is Enabled, and under Location Aiding, Setting to Enabled. Be sure to save those settings. Then, try opening the FaceBook app on your device and in the top row click on Places. Click Check In. If you already have saved a location, for example your home address or work place address, click on that location. Otherwise, you can create a place by clicking on Add a Place. Once you select the desired location, click on Check In and your location will be shared with your FaceBook contacts. If this does not work for you, then you may have to delete the FaceBook app on your device through Blackberry App World and then reinstall the app. Hope this helps you.

It sounds like your iPad is constantly losing connection to your cellular data service. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
Get help with the cellular data connection on your iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Model)
Tap Settings and make sure that Cellular Data is turned on. Turn Cellular Data off, then back on again.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Tap the airplane icon to turn airplane mode on. Wait three seconds, then turn it off.
Restart your iPad.
Check for a carrier settings update.
Update your iPad with the latest version of iOS.
Remove the SIM card, then insert it again.
If your SIM card uses a SIM PIN, tap Settings > Cellular Data and turn SIM PIN off.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you have another SIM card with a valid cellular data account, remove the SIM card from your iPad and insert the other SIM card. If the cellular data connection works with the other SIM card, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Try another location. If the cellular data connection works in another area but not in the first location you tried, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Restore your iPad as new.
If you still can't connect to or use a cellular data network, contact your carrier, make a reservation at a Genius Bar, or contact AppleCare for more help.

Facebook app does not have 'Places' icon

My Wife has a BB Torch and we can't find the 'Places' icon on the ribbon/banner of the Facebook app. I pressed the menu button and check options but there was nothing in there. I tried to check for Face updates but it was check off to check automatically. GPS location is enabled in system properties. Any suggestions?

I would suggest uninstalling the Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones application and then reinstall by going to www.BlackBerry.com/Facebook from the BlackBerry® Browser.

Facebook app is crashing

My FB app is crashing anytime I try to update status, upload a picture or check-in to a location.
I've deleted and reinstalled app twice and have also done a re-start on my iPad twice.
I have not updated to any iOS 6 updates (like the Google maps too much)

I was having exactly the same problem with facebook app day before yesterday.. I have iphone 4 with iOS 4.1.. Searched thru forums and found several people had faced this problem.. Solution advised was uninstalling app and reinstalling it.. Uninstalled the app and when tried reinstalling, was asked for minimum iOS version 4.3.. On top of this, my laptop got fried by a power surge so cannot even restore the app.. Screwed!

Facebook app is portrait only display

I recently reinstalled the Facebook app because my old one could not locate my place to do a check-in. The new app will only display in portrait, which limits me to using a tin keyboard (not why I went with a Storm). It also will only scroll in reverse and the touch screen is very uncooperative. No other apps are this horrible. Why can't the app display in landscape as the old one did, giving me the full keyboard and NORMAL scrolling?

I'm almost positive this is a software issue and not a hardware issue (that's good news).
Let's start with the good ol' battery pull and see if that fixes the problem. With your phone powered on, remove your battery then replace it.

Cannot reinstall Facebook app - Help?!

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help! I have the BB Curve, and upgraded to new Facebook app including chat about 4 weeks ago - so far it had been great. Today I tried to upload a photo and it froze completely during upload. I rebooted, BB was fine, but F/B app still frozen - rebooted once more, still no change. In desperation I went into App World and uninstalled the App. I have now gone back to my unistalled apps, located Facebook, but there is no 'Reinstall' icon to set it back up I have checked the reviews of the app an half a dozen other users have also had the same issue. Does anyone know how I can reinstall? I have checked my other uninstalled apps and they all have a button marked 'reinstall' except F/B. Is it lost forever?

I can't guarantee results with this method, but first go and make sure your facebook app is indeed gone. Next, from your phone's browser type in www.blackberry.com/facebook and try downloading it from there.

Mail App stopped checking mail

Hi. Mail App stopped checking mail suddenly. I was able to check my mail at 10:15 this morning. Now when i tell it to get mail it does nothing at all. I repaired permissions and reboot and still no luck. Any ideas?

Try locating and deleting these two preference/plist files:
~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
